County Sheriff
-- A man and woman from Gavers Road, Hanover Township, were taken into custody at the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office at 4:40 p.m. Saturday on active warrants out of Minerva Police Department, Stark County. They had come to the sheriff's office to file a theft report. They were turned over to Minerva police.
-- A deputy was dispatched at 6:26 p.m. Saturday to West Main Street, Washingtonville, for a call about a dog tied up for multiple hours and without water. A deputy spoke to the homeowner and advised them of the complaint. The deputy observed the dog under a tree in the shade and the dog appeared to be fine.
-- A deputy was dispatched at 10:14 p.m. Friday to state Route 172, Hanover Township, for a juvenile-related report.
-- A custody issue was reported by a woman in Hanover Township with her ex-husband of West Township at 4:27 p.m. Friday. She was told to contact an attorney.
-- Deputies were dispatched at 8:47 p.m. Thursday to state Route 9, Hanover Township, for a juvenile-related report.
-- A domestic violence incident was reported at 6:59 p.m. Thursday on Grant Street, Center Township.

Patrol
Ryan Blystone, 44, of Claibourne Street in East Liverpool was arrested at 2:35 a.m. Monday in Liverpool Township. Blystone was driving his vehicle northbound on state Route 267, when he overcorrected while negotiating a curve and flipped his car onto its left side. He then continued northbound, striking a guardrail before his vehicle came to rest. He fled the scene, eventually tracked by the Lisbon K9 to an area of brush, and was discovered hiding. Prior to the crash, police had tried to initiate a stop near state Route 39 near Milepost 20 as he had failed to display his license. But he outran them and crashed near state Route 267 and Westfield Road. Ultimately, he was charged with OVI, failure to comply, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and failure to display. The report states Blystone allegedly had confessed to medical personnel, regarding smoking crack earlier in the evening. A supplemental report showed he tested positive for amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl and norfentanyl in his system.
Leetonia
-- A caller reported at 9:14 p.m. July 5 that his neighbor, across the street in the 200 block of Oak Street, made threats of physical violence against him and his family due to his friends setting off fireworks. Police informed the neighbor that although it was scaring his dogs, their neighbors were still allowed to set off fireworks until 11 p.m. and threats could get him charged.
-- A teal-and-white Huff Rock-it bicycle was recovered before 3:20 p.m. In July 9 in the woods off the bike trail at Gary Phillips Park.
-- Daniel Costanzo, no information provided, was cited at 2:17 p.m. for illegally towing another vehicle with a smashed front windshield behind his vehicle with a strap. The towed vehicle owner was in the driver's side of the towed vehicle with his head hanging out of the driver door window trying to see.
-- Jeromy Echols, no address listed, was cited at 5:03 a.m. July 8 for driving under suspension. No location was noted in the report.
-- A resident at McKeffney Farms reported at 12:38 p.m. July 10 that items valued in excess of $1,400 was stolen off his property. They included Strikeman target and phone mount, blue car lift, antique wooden high chair and antique child's pedal car.
-- Officers provided a welfare check at 10:57 am July 11 in the 300 block of Columbia Street after dispatch reported they received a 911 call open line and could hear a TV and movement in the background. Police found no one but a small dog inside the residence. An hour later, dispatch made contact with the occupant and he added that everything was fine. He and his wife had just returned home from being out.
-- Police responded at 1:28 p.m. July 12 to a residence in the 300 block of State Street for an adult male choking. He still was having breathing difficulties so he was transported via ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center.
-- Officers investigated a domestic dispute at 7:18 p.m. July 12 in the 100 block of Park Street between a teen male, who is distraught about his best friend's suicide, and his mother. The officer had pink slipped the teen who had injured himself punching a wall.
-- Loud music was reported at 6:08 a.m. July 13 to the 200 block of Ridge Street. The man had just arrived home and was advised to turn the music down.
-- Police responded at 1:59 a.m. July 13 to an open phone line at Pennex Aluminum Company and found everything fine.
-- Police investigated a report of a suspicious male riding a bicycle with no lights on it in the area of state Route 344 and old 344 with negative contact at 3:25 am Sunday.
Perry Township
-- Officers responded to the area of state Route 14 at 11:22 p.m. Friday to assist the Goshen Police Department in locating a motorcycle that had fled at speeds of 112 miles per hour. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
-- Officers conducted a traffic stop on West State Street at 9:16 p.m. Friday for a report of erratic driving. Officers spoke with the driver who seemed very confused and unable to answer questions clearly. Officers parked the vehicle and gave the driver a ride home where a relative was waiting.
-- Ernest Lautzenheiser, 72, Winona, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his northbound vehicle on Depot Road struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Autumn Wells, 43, Salem at 4:21 p.m. Friday.
-- Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 9:29 a.m. Friday for a report of a male juvenile in mental crisis. Officers spoke with the juvenile and his mother and EMT responded to transport the juvenile at the mother's request.
-- Officers responded to the area of state Route 9 at 12:45 a.m. Friday for a report of a woman who made statements of self-harm. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate them.
-- Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 6:32 p.m. Thursday for a reported civil issue. The caller advised that his ex-girlfriend had a protection order against him but drove past his house. Officers advised the caller that this was not a criminal matter. --Officers responded to the 500 block of Benton Road at 4:03 p.m. Thursday for a report of a man attempting to retrieve his impounded vehicle. The caller advised that the man was becoming verbally aggressive and wanted to report damage to the vehicle that was caused when the vehicle was impounded. Officers spoke with all parties and informed the man retrieving the vehicle that the damage was pre-existing and was documented when the vehicle was towed. The vehicle was released to the man.
Salem
-- Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 8:45 p.m. Saturday where two women were stopped as they were trying to leave the store with over $2,000 in merchandise. The women left the store after being confronted. Officers were able to identify one of the women involved and will attempt to identify the second one. Charges are pending.
-- An officer responded with medical personnel to the 600 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:12 p.m. Saturday where a westbound vehicle on East Sixth Street ran the stop sign and continued over the curb, striking the stone porch of a house. The driver claimed her brakes failed, but there was an odor of alcohol on her and she showed signs of impairment. The driver was transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital for evaluation and charges are pending lab results. No one was injured in the home, but the resident said the crash knocked items off the wall. A crack was found in the basement wall and the fire department checked the structure's integrity. An investigation is pending.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of Morris Avenue at 6:33 p.m. Saturday in reference to a juvenile that ran away. Officers were able to locate the juvenile and return him home.
-- A Continental Drive resident reported at 5:22 p.m. Saturday being harassed by a person he knows. Officers advised home of his option for dealing with the situation.
-- Kailee Diehl, 18, Salem, was charged with domestic violence after officers responded her Stewart Avenue home at 11:09 a.m. Saturday where she had been in a physical altercation with her juvenile brother.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of Stewart Avenue at 10:10 a.m. Saturday where the caller reported his sister was irate and throwing items around the house. Officers spoke with the sister, who said she was upset with friends that had stayed overnight. She calmed down and the friends left.
-- Hector M. Colon, 27, Canfield, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of East State Street at 2:44 a.m. Saturday.
-- Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cleveland Street at 12:04 a.m. Saturday in reference to an incident of an unknown adult male sending nude photos to a female juvenile. Officers advised the family to block the man on the social media app.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of Olive Street at 8:32 p.m. Friday in reference to a domestic dispute and found it to be a verbal argument.
