-- Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 8:01 p.m. Tuesday for a reported civil dispute. The caller claimed an ex-boyfriend had moved out and had the utilities to the residence shut off. When officers spoke with the ex, he advised he did not have the utilities shut off but had his name taken off the bill. The caller was advised to contact the utility companies to have the bill put in her name.
-- Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 6:46 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a patient acting aggressive towards staff. When officers arrived, hospital staff advised that the patient was signing out and officers were no longer needed.
-- Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 4:14 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a small bag of marijuana recovered from a patient. The marijuana was taken to the police department and disposed of.
-- Officers responded to the 1400 block of East State Street at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a runaway juvenile. Officers gathered the information for the juvenile and a few minutes later another officer located the juvenile who advised they were lost and took her to her residence.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 1:07 p.m. Tuesday for an animal complaint. The caller advised there was a saint bernard outside behind the residence in a kennel with a tarp on it. Officers were unable to contact anyone at the residence but did check the dog which was OK and had water.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of Broadway Avenue at 11:15 a.m. Friday for a wellness check. Information was gathered and forwarded to the proper agencies.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of Barclay Avenue at 11:33 p.m. Thursday for a 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with the caller, and everything checked okay.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:30 p.m. Thursday for a reported fight. Officers checked the area and found that there was no fight, and everything checked okay.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 9 p.m. Thursday for a reported burglary. Officers spoke with the victim and investigated, identifying the man in question. The man, Jarred Chestnut, 32, Sebring, was taken into custody by Sebring officers, and officers took custody of Chestnut and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail charged with first degree felony burglary, and third-degree felony possession of weapons under disability, and aggravated menacing.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 5:03 p.m. Thursday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest in the city.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of East State Street at 4:33 p.m. Thursday for a disorderly person. Officers located the person and advised them of the complaint. He advised that he was just upset due to the long wait. Officers issued a warning for disorderly conduct, and he advised that he understood, and it wouldn't happen again.
-- Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 4:11 p.m. for a report of a suspicious person. Officers located the person in question in the 1900 block of East Pershing Street and advised them of the complaint.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of East State Street at 4:06 p.m. Thursday for a report of a man wearing hospital socks, shorts, and carrying an IV with him. Officers checked the area for several minutes and were unable to locate them.
-- Officers spoke to a person by phone at 3:37 p.m. Thursday who advised that someone had come to her house asking for money. Officers advised the caller that if the person returned to call back. Officers did check the area but were unable to locate them.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of West Perry Street at 1:54 p.m. Thursday for a report of a distraught person. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised they were fine.
-- Officers responded with the housing department to the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 1:39 p.m. Thursday to assist them with an investigation. Officers located a man with an active warrant out of Columbiana County, Cody Hostetter, and took him into custody without incident. Hostetter was transported directly to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 1:38 p.m. Thursday for a report of phone and internet harassment from her husband with whom she is in the process of a divorce. She advised that he resides in Utah but is calling, texting, and harassing her several times a day over their recent marriage issues. The caller was advised of her criminal and civil options for dealing with the issue and she understood.
-- Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 12:52 p.m. Thursday for a report of a person to be removed. The caller advised that the person had come to his residence and was pounding on his door. Officers advised the caller that they would attempt to locate the person and advised him to stay away. Officers located the person, Timothy Wilson II, 46, Salem, in the 800 block of East Fourth Street, and when officers spoke with them, they observed drug paraphernalia in plain view. The person was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of East Fifth Street at 4:31 a.m. Thursday for a reported burglary in progress. Officers spoke with the caller and conducted an investigation, collecting all relevant information and the matter is under investigation.
-- Officers on patrol in the 200 block of Penn Avenue at 2:43 a.m. Thursday observed a suspicious vehicle. Officers checked the vehicle, finding it to be unoccupied, and everything checked okay.
-- Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Third Street at 2:32 a.m. Thursday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that they believed the juveniles were attempting to steal a parked van. Officers spoke with them and found they were working on their family's van.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of East Fifth Street at 11:46 p.m. Wednesday for a reported breaking and entering. The homeowner advised that she had heard someone break into the basement through an outside door while in bed. Officers checked the basement but did not locate anyone, but the lock on the door was found to be broken. The residents checked but advised they did not believe anything was taken.
-- Officers on patrol in the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Eleventh Street at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday observed a vehicle with expired plates. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Jimmy Anderson, 33, Lisbon, who had a suspended license, and was cited for driving under suspension. Anderson gave consent to search the vehicle and no contraband was located in the vehicle. Anderson was also issued a warning for expired plates.
-- Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday to speak with a woman brought to the hospital in an earlier incident. The woman was intoxicated and attempted to leave but had returned prior to officers' arrival. The woman was advised that if she left, she would be charged due to her level of intoxication in public.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 6:26 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check on juveniles. The caller advised that the mother had been drinking all day and sleeping, and one of the juveniles was special needs and unable to take care of themselves. Officers spoke with a juvenile who advised his mother was sleeping. Officers were able to wake the woman, explained of the situation and advised her to contact a family member. The woman fell back asleep and the fire department and EMT responded to the scene and transported the woman to the Salem Regional Medical Center. A family member arrived on scene and took the juveniles, and the case will be sent to child protective services.
- Officers spoke with a person behind a 2300 block East State Street business at 4:27 a.m. Saturday who was loading a table up that was being thrown away. The person was advised to speak with the business manager before taking the item.
- Officers responded to the 200 block of West Seventh Street at 3:35 a.m. Saturday in reference to an intoxicated woman running in and out of her house yelling. Officers found the woman to be intoxicated and advised her to stop yelling and go inside for the night.
- A caller reported at 1:28 a.m. Saturday a sexual incident that took place within the city. An officer collected the information and the incident was forwarded to a detective.
- Officers responded to the area of East State Street and South Lundy Avenue at 12:51 a.m. Saturday where a caller reported his sister was having a mental health crisis and left their home in a panic. Officers found the woman driving and initiated a traffic stop. Medical personnel responded to assess her and she was later transported to the St. Elizabeth Hospital for evaluation.
- Officers responded to the 1000 block of East 10th Street at 11:49 p.m. Friday at the request of the fire department, which was on a medical call in which the mother o the patient jumped into the ambulance stating she needed to escape her son because he had been awake for five days after abusing his medication. The patient was willingly transported by ambulance to the Salem hospital and the mother stayed at the residence.
- Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 9:20 p.m. for a possible overdose after a 16-year-old male had fallen at business and was unresponsive. The juvenile was responsive upon medical personnel arrival and was treated by Salem Fire Department before being transported to Akron Children's in Boardman.
- Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an alleged sex offense in the 100 block of West State Street at 6:59 p.m. Friday. A woman was placed into custody and transported to the Salem Police Department where she was issued a summons to appear in court.
- Officers responded to the 400 block of Euclid Avenue at 1:42 p.m. Friday where a resident reported an ongoing issue with a neighbor, including a few days prior when the neighbor struck him with a vehicle while while he was crossing the street. Officers were unable to make contact with the neighbor.
- An officer responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 12:52 p.m. Friday in reference to people posting indirect threats on social media. The caller was advised a report would be on file and to report anymore posts.
