-- A suspicious vehicle was reported at 2:37 a.m. Sunday on Winona Road, Butler Township. Deputies responded and located a contact number for the registered owner, learning the juvenile son of the registered owner was operating the truck. He was told about the complaint and to return home with the truck due to curfew.
-- Deputies were dispatched at 11:56 p.m. Friday to Salineville for a domestic incident on East Lincoln Street. The victim advised no threats of physical violence were made or any form of physical altercation. The dispute was over a cell phone. The victim had a warrant out of the sheriff's office, but due to medical issues she was advised to turn herself in at the courthouse when she gets these issues worked out.
-- A noise complaint was reported at 11:46 p.m. Friday on Carmel Achor Road, Middleton Township. No noise were heard during a check of the area.
-- Deputies were dispatched at 4:23 a.m. Thursday to Family Dollar, state Route 172, Hanover Township, for a front door alarm activation. The business was checked and secure at ground level.
-- A deputy was dispatched at 4:02 a.m. Thursday to Carey Road, Butler Township to check the welfare of a female who kept calling her friend and was concerned for her well-being. The deputy checked the female's welfare and determined all was well.
Salem
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 1:06 a.m. Monday for a reported suspicious person walking into a resident's driveway and banging on the car window to see if they were awake then left.
-- Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 11:05 p.m. Sunday for a reported juvenile problem. Officers were advised that a female juvenile did not want to drive home with her grandmother due to fear of getting into trouble. During the investigation, officers learned that the juvenile snuck out of her house and went to a party in the city and her grandmother found out and was on her way to get her. The juvenile had someone drop her off at the SRMC out of fear her grandmother would cause a scene at the party. Contact was made with Hubbard police who advised they responded to the residence a few days prior in reference to the juvenile being unruly. The grandmother arrived and took the juvenile back to Hubbard.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue at 10:44 p.m. Sunday for a reported criminal trespass. The caller advised a man who'd been criminally trespassed from her property in November was on her property again, and the caller had asked him to leave, and he did so. Officers located the man, Michael Souers, 36, Salem, who admitted to being on the property, placed him under arrest for criminal trespass and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of Washington Avenue at 9:06 p.m. Sunday for a reported assault. Officers found the incident to be a dispute between family members, and two men were reportedly drinking and one of the males hit his cousin in the face, causing a cut to his cheek. The man in question fled on foot prior to officers' arrival. The individual that was struck was transported to the hospital by EMT to get checked out and several people reside at the residence, and they were advised to contact the department if the one responsible returns. Due to the presence of a language barrier during the incident, charges are pending to ensure the correct person is identified.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 4:22 p.m. Sunday for a reported dispute. The male half was upset because of a recent break-up with the female half and now the female wants to move her current boyfriend into the residence. The male half is still living in the residence trying to find a new place to move to. Officers advised both parties they would have to be civil about the situation until the man can find a new place to live.
-- Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:57 a.m. Sunday for a report of theft. The caller advised that upon returning to his prior residence to gather his belongings found that his aluminum truck bed toolbox and its contents, a welder, a can of racing fuel, four-wheeler graphics, and a pair of cordless screw drivers were missing, and that the theft occurred sometime between 7 p.m. the night prior and 5:30 a.m. that morning. The resident at the property initially reported having no knowledge of where the missing items were, but did subsequently advise there was property in a spare room in the residence and gave consent for officers to enter and stand by while the caller retrieved the belongings. The toolbox was recovered, but had been damaged and is valued at approximately $300, and the graphics which were also damaged were valued at $203. The missing welder was not located and is estimated to have a value of $485. Due to the fact both individuals lived together and disputed ownership on some of the property, the incident will be forwarded to a prosecutor for review for charges or to confirm whether the matter should be resolved in civil court.
-- Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:09 a.m. for a civil matter. The caller was there to retrieve a vehicle and move personal belongings out of his ex-girlfriend's residence and requested officers on scene to prevent breach of peace due to the relationship having ended on poor terms. Officers spoke with the resident who advised that she had placed all the caller's belongings in the garage for him to gather, and the caller subsequently gathered his property and vehicle.
-- Officers responded to the 900 block of Barclay Avenue at 2:19 a.m. Sunday to speak with the family of a man with a mental handicap regarding their options for getting him help. The fire department and EMT were ultimately requested to the scene and the man was willingly transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center for a mental evaluation.
--Officers on patrol near Centennial Park at 11:08 p.m. Saturday observed a vehicle in the park after hours. The driver was advised of the hours and sent on their way.
--Officers responded to the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:30 p.m. Saturday for a reported reckless operator. Officers located the vehicle in a parking lot and spoke with the driver. No signs of impairment were observed from the driver and further investigation showed the driver to be distracted by a mobile device. The driver was advised to stay off their phone and drive with caution.
-- Officers responded with the fire department to the 1500 block of East State Street at 8:45 p.m. Saturday for a smoke investigation. The caller reported smoke near his residence and that they were unable to open their windows due to the smell. Officers and firefighters found the fire to be in compliance with the city's fire code.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of Euclid Street at 5:25 p.m. Saturday for a medical call. Officers spoke with a juvenile who advised that her grandfather had fallen. The man was transported by EMT to a local hospital, and officers stood by until the juvenile's family member came and got them.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:53 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised that the man was acting strangely. Officers spoke with the man advising them of the complaint, and he advised that he was fine, and nothing was wrong.
-- Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 3:35 p.m. Saturday for a civil standby. Officers stood by while the caller collected his belongings from outside a residence.
-- Officers responded to the area of North Madison Avenue and Bentley Drive at 2:37 p.m. Monday for a report of a tree down in the roadway. Officers located the tree, and the street department was contacted, who removed it from the roadway.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of Morris Avenue at 1:16 p.m. Saturday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised that a male juvenile had an altercation with his mother then ran away. While en route officers located the juvenile and returned him to his residence. After speaking with the mother, she wanted him transported to Akron Children's Hospital and EMT transported the juvenile.
-- Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 10:46 a.m. Saturday regarding a possible scam. The woman provided officers with a piece of mail stating she had money in rewards and a number to call to claim the money. Officers advised the woman not to give out any information and that a report would be on file.
-- Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 10:43 a.m. Saturday who advised their dog was attacked by a dog at large while the caller had been walking on the sidewalk in the 300 block of East Fifth Street at approximately 8:10 a.m. that day. The caller also advised that this is not the first time that this had happened but was the first time that the offending dog had broken the skin and caused actual injury to the caller's dog. A photo of the injury was provided, and the caller advised the vet bill would be forwarded to the owner of the offending dog. Officers subsequently spoke with the owner of the offending dog at the residence, who verified that the dog has its shots and stated that the dog had jumped on some lawn furnishing in the fenced back yard allowing it to get lose, and that reimbursement would be made for the caller's vet bills. Officers explained the city ordinance that mandates dogs be contained and a warning was issued for dog at large.
