The driver said he had just finished business at Pennex and was completing some paperwork. Officers asked the driver to move from the railroad right-of-way to the parking area across the street and he complied.
-- Officers responded to a 911 hangup call on Walnut Street at 2:58 p.m. on Thursday. Officers were unable to make contact with anyone at the residence.
-- Officers responded at 5:41 p.m. on Thursday for a welfare check on Columbia Street. The report involved a juvenile who had posted on social media and threatened to "walk the tracks until a train" struck him. Officers made contact with the juvenile's mother and the juvenile who said the post was "a joke."
-- Officers arrested Jonathan Gbur, no age given, Washington Street, and charged him with domestic violence after responding to the residence at 9:48 p.m. on Wednesday. Gbur allegedly struck a female at the home with a closed fist on top of the head and made threats against a juvenile in the home. Officers learned that Gbur was under a protection order prohibiting contact with either victim.
-- Officers responded to a report of a neighbor threatening another on Washington Street at 8:08 p.m. on Wednesday. A woman reported her neighbor had asked "do you want a piece of me" before body shaming her. The woman said the incident was sparked when she sent a picture to the landlord of a cat in the neighbor's window. There is a no-pet policy at the rental property.
-- Officers responded to a report of a calf on Beeson Mill Road at 6:02 a.m. on Wednesday. The calf was found and the owner contacted.
-- Officers received a report at 3:54 p.m. on Wednesday from a woman on State Street who said her mother had taken her vehicle that was registered in her mother's name and was concerned about the possessions that were in the car. Officers contacted the mother and she returned the possessions.
-- Officers responded to a neighbor dispute on Cherry Fork Avenue at 2:49 p.m. on June 15 regarding weed-whacking and property lines when a caller said her neighboring was trimming weeds around a fence on her property. Officers advised it was a civil matter.
-- Officers arrested Kevin May , no age or address given, and charged him with two counts of assault and disorderly conduct at 2:49 p.m. on June 15. May was a patron at the Eagles when he allegedly struck and choked a bartender who tried to stop him from driving while intoxicated. May was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained.
-- Officers observed a female and male attempting to break into the Corner Pocket Tavern at 2:30 p.m. on June 13 on Front Street. The subjects were identified as an employee and her boyfriend. The employee had forgotten her key. Officers advised they were to not break the door.
-- Officers observed a small white box outside the mayor's office on Main Street with a note attached at 7 a.m. on June 13. Video showed the box had been dropped off by a young juvenile at 5:01 a.m. The box contained a plush toy. Officers made contact with the juvenile's mother who spoke to her son. She advised he said he went downtown to "give the toys to boys," an idea he got from YouTube. Officers voiced safety concerns about the juvenile leaving the house without adult supervision.
