-- Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 2:20 a.m. Thursday regarding a possible shooting threat observed over Snapchat. Officers gathered the necessary information.
-- Officers on patrol in the 400 block of East Second Street at 1:44 a.m. Thursday observed a group of people that appeared to be minors out after curfew. Officers spoke with them, discovering them all to be over the age of 18, and they were sent on their way.
-- Officers responded to the area of Franklin Avenue and Southeast Boulevard at 11:09 p.m. Thursday for a report of a reckless operator. The vehicle in question was observed entering the Reilly School parking lot, and officers spoke with the driver at their residence who did not show any signs of impairment.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Butcher Road at 7:51 p.m. Wednesday for a 911 hang-up call. Officers checked the area but nobody in need of assistance was located.
-- Officers on patrol in the area of state Route 45 and West State Street at 2:12 p.m. Wednesday observed a man who was the subject of a search warrant. Officers spoke with the man, detaining him and serving the search warrant on his person and his residence in Perry Township. Once the search was completed, the man, who was not in custody, was released and provided with the proper paperwork.
-- Officers spoke to a person at the police department regarding a theft at 9:49 a.m. Wednesday. The person advised that he has had a birdfeeder stolen three times and the most recent happened overnight which he found unsettling for someone to be in his fenced-in back yard. Officers advised the caller and extra patrol will be requested for the area.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of East Second Street at 9:37 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check on a woman sitting outside behind the building and appeared to be nodding off. Officers made contact with the person who appeared normal and was advised that everything was fine, and they would be on their way.
-- Officers responded with the Salem Fire Department to the area of South Broadway Avenue and East Euclid Street at 11:40 p.m. Thursday in reference to smoke near the train tracks. The fire was located and extinguished and Norfolk Southern was advised of the incident.
-- Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 9:54 p.m. Thursday in reference to young adults operating vehicles recklessly in the parking lot and loitering in the area. Officers spoke with the group and advised them of the complaint. Due to problems with teenagers in the parking lot, an extra patrol was requested.
-- Officers responded to the area of East Pershing Street and Ohio Avenue at 9:21 p.m. Thursday in reference to multiple juveniles in a vehicle shooting bottle rockets at other vehicles. Officers were unable to find the juveniles.
-- An officer responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 6:38 p.m. Thursday in reference to a report of dogs left in a parked vehicle. The officer located the vehicle which had numerous windows down, but it was still too hot outside for animals to be left in the car. The animals were panting but appeared to be OK. The owner returned to the car and was advised of the issue, with the officer issuing a warning.
-- Officers responded to the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 5:35 p.m. Thursday in reference to a structure fire and found the second floor apartment engulfed with smoke and flames. Officers maintained traffic control while the Salem Fire Department along with other fire departments were able to extinguish the fire. A police detective later responded to assist in the investigation.
-- Police responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 5:21 p.m. Thursday in reference to a domestic dispute and learned it was verbal in nature. Both people involved were advised of the domestic violence law and one of them left for the evening.
-- Officers responded to Centennial Drive and East Pershing Street at 4:20 p.m. Thursday where a complainant reported someone in a green truck revving their engine to menace the complainant. The complainant said they have had past incidents with the other person in the past and was worried for their safety. Officers spoke with everyone involved and advised the person in the truck any future incidents could result in charges.
-- Police responded to the 400 block of Prospect Street at 12:50 p.m. Thursday where a business reported two men attempting to purchase over $7,000 worth of equipment with a credit card, but would provide identification and did not have a license plate on their vehicle. Officers spoke to the men and advised them of the complaint. The driver of the vehicle was able to provide a plate for the vehicle and they were sent on their way.
