-- Officers on patrol in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and Columbia Street at 9:36 p.m. Monday observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and conducted a traffic stop. Officers had a K-9 conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle and a positive indication was alerted. Officers recovered the contraband, and a written warning was given to the driver for the equipment violation.
-- Officers responded to the laundromat in the 100 block of North Howard Avenue at 6:12 p.m. Monday for a report of an unknown issue. It was determined that a cell phone had possibly been stolen, but it was located while officers were on scene.
-- Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 2:49 p.m. Monday about an issue he was having with a family member at home. Officers spoke with the person, advising them that they would have to listen to their parents and abide by their rules.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of Roosevelt Avenue at 12:09 p.m. Monday to speak with a caller regarding a no contact order. The caller advised the person had contacted her in violation of his probation. The caller advised that she just needed a report made and that she would be contacting his probation officer.
-- Officers responded to the 2900 block of East State Street at 11:39 a.m. Monday for a report of debris in the roadway. Officers moved the items in question to the curb lawn.
-- Officers responded to the 1200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:17 a.m. Monday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person who advised that he was okay, and that if he did need help in the future he would call.
-- Officers responded to the 2300 block of Lexington Avenue at 4:17 a.m. Monday for a second time for noise complaints. The caller advised that two people were arguing. Officers could hear arguing and made contact at the door. They were advised again to keep the noise down or they would be charged accordingly if officers returned for a third complaint.
-- Officers responded to the 2300 block of Lexington Avenue at 3:48 a.m. Monday for a noise complaint. The caller advised that someone in the middle suite was slamming doors. Officers spoke with the residents advising them of the complaint and they advised they didn't realize they were being loud.
-- Officers responded to the 1400 block of East State Street at 12:39 a.m. Monday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers found the matter to be verbal in nature only; however, after departing dispatch advised officers that one of the residents had an active warrant. Officers returned and attempted to arrest the person, Jeremy Fristik, 36, Salem, who then began to resist and obstruct officers. Fristik was eventually placed into custody and transported directly to the Columbiana County Jail, and was charged with resisting arrest, and obstructing official business in addition to his warrant.
-- Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a loud exhaust leaving Salem Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram at 11:01 p.m. Sunday. The driver advised they were getting old tires from the business, and showed officers that the tires were bald and not much use. However, due to the circumstances and not having permission from the business they were advised to contact the business during regular hours to get permission to take the tires due to the fact they could be charged with theft. The driver advised they would do so.
-- Officers responded to Circle K East at 10:46 p.m. Sunday to speak with people that were advised to leave the property prior to officers' arrival by an employee but did not do so. Officers advised them to clear the premises and that if the issue occurred again, they would be criminally trespassed from the business.
-- Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 7:08 p.m. Sunday for a custody dispute. The caller advised she had taken her infant child to let the father's child see it and that the father was now refusing to return the child and was sitting in a vehicle with him. Officers spoke with both parties, explaining custody laws, and the child was returned to the caller without incident.
-- Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 7:01 p.m. Sunday for a report of an inmate that left the hospital while receiving treatment. Officers were advised the inmate was dropped off for treatment by the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office and cut off her ankle monitor and left the hospital. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the escaped inmate.
