— An officer responded to the 600 block of Walnut Street at 10:46 p.m. Sunday where a resident reported her daughter’s ex-boyfriend had been harassing her and was at the residence refusing to leave. The ex-boyfriend and his mother were advised they are not welcome at the home and to not return or they would be arrested for trespassing.

— An officer responded to the 100 block of Mill Street at 4:19 p.m. Sunday in reference to a mentally unstable individual. The officer determined the individual did not fit the criteria to be pink slipped to the hospital and outside rehabilitation resources were contacted to assist in the matter.

— An officer responded to the area of Butcher Road and Chestnut Street at 1:31 p.m. Saturday in reference to a fallen tree branch blocking the roadway. The officer was able to move the branch out of the way.

— A protection order violation was filed against Travis Beiling, no age or address listed, after an officer working a basketball game at Leetonia High School at 5:24 p.m. Friday observed him sitting with a woman who has a protection order against him.

— An officer responded to the Small Wonders daycare center on Walnut Street at 1:11 p.m. Jan. 25 in reference to a fire alarm. Everyone was out of the building and no smoke was showing. The officer stood by until the fire department arrived.

– A caller at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 24 reported possible child abuse in the 100 block of Walnut Street in which the suspects are the mother, father and uncle. The matter was turned over to children services. Police received another call at 5:54 p.m. the same day regarding the juvenile running away from the home. A report on the incident was also sent to the children services.

– A Washington Street resident reported at 11:03 a.m. Jan. 23 a scam on Facebook in which she lost $2,500 through a bank transfer.

– A village employee reported at 8:29 a.m. Jan. 23 finding damage to a stop sign and other wires at the entrance to the industrial park on state Route 344.

– An officer responded to the 300 block of Columbia Street at 9:55 p.m. Jan. 19 in reference to a homeowner parking her vehicle in front of a fire hydrant because her drive was icy. The homeowner said she asked her neighbor to move his car so she could park in front of her normal spot, but he refused. She ultimately moved her vehicle to another spot.

– Police received a report of stolen property at 2:18 p.m. Jan. 18 in which a Columbia Street business employee reported cleaning rags stolen from the laundromat. Video showed a woman taking the rags and when officer spoke with the woman, she said it must have been by accident and agreed to take all the materials she had to the business to let them sort through.

– A Somer Street resident reported at 11:52 a.m. Jan. 16 someone had apparently stolen checks from her sometime in December and wrote a check in the amount of $182 that was cashed at a Salem business. Charges were turned over to the Salem Police Department.
