Salem
— Officers assisted the Columbiana County Drug Enforcement Task Force with the execution of a search warrant in the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 1:46 p.m. Friday.
— Officers responded to the area of North Lundy Avenue and East Third Street at 12:34 p.m. Friday for an accidental damage report. Officers were advised by the caller that a semi-truck knocked a stop sign over while turning. Officers advised dispatch to contact the traffic and safety department.
— Officers responded to the area of East Pershing Street at 12:08 p.m. Friday for a report of a person holding a sign up panhandling. Officers checked the area but did not locate anyone in the area.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Jennings Avenue at 8:58 a.m. Friday for a report of a person to be removed. The caller advised that a person has been staying at their house, causing issues, and wanted them to be removed. Officers advised the caller of their options.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 7:52 a.m. Friday for a report of a runaway juvenile. The caller advised that the juvenile refused to go into the house and ran away. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the juvenile. The mother of the juvenile filled out the missing person report, and the juvenile was entered into LEADS. A short while later the juvenile was located by officers and transported to the police department where he was picked up by his mother.
— Officers on patrol in the 1200 block of East State Street at 10:08 p.m. Thursday conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. Officers spoke with the driver, Cody Barham, 30, Salem, who had an active warrant through the adult parole authority. The warrant was confirmed, and Barham was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 9:06 p.m. Thursday for a report of a disturbed person. Officers spoke with the caller, determining everything was okay, and officers helped the caller with her phone.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Union Avenue at 6:05 p.m. Thursday for a civil matter. The caller advised that they wanted to get an item back from a family member’s residence. Officers spoke with the family member and the item was returned. Officers later returned due to the family member wanting the caller to come back to get more property. They were advised that the items would be recovered the next day.
— Officers responded to a business in the 2400 block of East State Street Thursday for a reported shoplifter. Officers spoke with asset prevention who advised that a person had been observed taking items from the store and placing them in a backpack and left the store without paying for the items. A warrant was issued for the person whose name was not listed.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Liberty Street at 3:27 p.m. Thursday for a reported civil matter. The caller advised that she wanted two people to leave the residence due to an argument. The caller advised that the people were at the residence visiting her dad who also lives there. Officers advised the caller that since the people had permission to be there from a resident, officers could not make them leave. The people in question decided to leave so there weren’t any further issues.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 2:51 p.m. for possible accidental damage. The caller advised that a tractor trailer had struck the bell and fire hydrant on the corner of West State Street and South Ellsworth Avenue. Officers did not observe any damage done to either object.
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 2:25 p.m. Thursday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that she observed two people placing bags in the wooded area behind the building. Officers spoke with the people who advised they were going to store their bags there until they could get a hold of a family member. The people gathered their bags and left the area without incident.
— Officers responded to a business in the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue at 1:22 p.m. Thursday for a reported hit and skip. The caller advised that they had exited the store to find an unknown vehicle had struck the front passenger side of his parked vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Sixth Street at 12:48 p.m. Thursday to check for a juvenile with a warrant. Officers spoke with the juvenile and confirmed the warrant with the juvenile prosecutor. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Tobin Center.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Stewart Avenue at 11:57 a.m. Thursday for a runaway juvenile. The caller advised that her son had gone to school that morning, and she had been informed by the school that he had left. The caller filled out a missing person form to enter the juvenile into LEADS. The juvenile returned to school before they could be entered as missing.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Summit Street at 11:01 a.m. Thursday for a wellness check. The caller advised that while driving in the area she located a juvenile walking in the roadway. While speaking with the caller the mother called and the juvenile was transported to the 700 block of Summit Street. The mother advised that the juvenile must have gone out the back door due to it not locking properly and officers advised the mother that children’s services would be made aware of the incident.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Eighth Street at 9:22 a.m. Thursday for a reported animal complaint. Officers were advised of multiple dogs being neglected and left outside. Officers spoke with the owners who advised officers that the dogs are taken care of and their shelters had heaters inside. Officers did not observe the dogs to be malnourished nor did they appear to be in any distress.
— Officers responded to a business in the 300 block of East State Street at 9:01 a.m. Thursday for a report of criminal trespass. The caller advised that a person had been at the business on a prior date, and they did not want them to return. The caller signed a trespass form and officers advised that they would attempt to contact the person.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 8:41 a.m. Thursday for a wellness check on a person walking in the area. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the person in question.
