Salem

­–­Officers responded to the 2100 block of Kennedy Drive at 4:17 p.m. Saturday in reference to a water line break. Officers located the issue and notified the water department.

­–Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 1:58 p.m. Saturday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest.

–An officer responded with the fire department to the 600 block of West Pershing Street at 1:42 p.m. Saturday in reference to a natural gas leak. The officer stood by until no longer needed.

— An officer responded to Centennial Park at 12:32 p.m. Saturday in reference to juvenile observed on security footage climbing in the rafters of a pavilion. The officer told the juvenile to stop due to safety concerns.

­­– Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:48 a.m. Saturday in reference to a domestic dispute and found it to be a verbal argument.

–Officers responded to the 600 block of East Fifth Street at 11:05 a.m. Saturday where a resident reported he believed a family member had entered the home without permission and broke a door. Officers provided options for dealing with the issue.

–Officers responded to the 200 block of North Cunningham Road at 4:10 a.m. Saturday where an intoxicated person was unable to get a room at the hotel and would not leave the property. The man was uncooperative and belligerent and officers stood by until someone was able to pick up the person.

— Police responded with medical personnel to the 2700 block of East State Street at 3:23 a.m. Saturday in reference to a woman who was dumpster diving and fell, sustaining a head injury. The woman was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

–Cory M. Dine, 23, Salem, was charged with OVI and cited for reckless operation following a traffic stop on Rose Avenue at 1:19 a.m. Saturday in which he originally attempted to flee from officers initiating the stop on East Third Street near North Union Avenue.

–An officer spoke with a man inside the police station lobby at 11:58 p.m. Friday who requested transportation to a hospital. Salem first responders transported the man to the Alliance hospital.

–Elizabeth A. Plouse, 36, Akron, was charged with OVI and cited for left of center following a traffic stop on East Pershing Street near South Lincoln Avenue at 9:20 p.m. Friday

–Officers responded to the 700 block of South Lundy Avenue at 5:27 p.m. Friday in reference to a possible domestic in which a woman was throwing items in the home. The woman was intoxicated and appeared to have made self-inflicted marks to herself. She would not talk clearly with officers and said she would call for a ride while the caller waited at a neighbor’s home. The caller was advised of the eviction process. Officers returned at 8:26 p.m. when the caller reported returning home to find several objects had been broken while the woman was waiting for her ride. The matter is under investigation.

­– Officers assisted the Mahoning County Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest in the 100 block of West Pershing Street at 1:57 p.m. Friday. A woman was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail. Suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were seized by a drug task force agent that will be sent for testing.

­– At 1:03 p.m. Friday, an officer was advised of a possible abuse case involving a juvenile that occurred recently in the city. The officer obtained information for the report and the matter will be looked into.

­– Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 8:57 a.m. Friday in reference to a possible domestic. Officers spoke with the complainant who said she had a physical altercation with her juvenile stepdaughter, who admitted to making threats to harm herself. The stepdaughter was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

­–Officers responded to the 2100 block of Monroe Street at 6:08 a.m. Friday in reference to a domestic dispute in progress and found a verbal argument regarding family issues. The woman involved said she was leaving for the evening to stay with a family member.

— Corey Cantwell, 24, Salem, was arrested on a charge of criminal trespass and a warrant out of Columbiana County for failure to appear after officers responded to the 2200 block of East State Street at 4:38 a.m. Friday in reference to a suspicious man walking around a parking lot with a blanket.

— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 12:35 a.m. Friday in reference to a vehicle peeling tires and revving the engine in a parking lot. Officers spoke with the driver, who agreed to leave the area.

–Wesley Clark, 33, Salem, was charged with assault after officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 11:34 p.m. Thursday in reference to a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with everyone involved who claimed that Clark had pushed two people and fought another one. While on station, Clark requested medical aid and was transported by EMS to the Salem hospital, to be transported to the Columbiana County Jail upon medical release.

–Officers responded to the 400 block of Euclid Avenue at 7:24 p.m. Thursday in reference to a fire that could be seen from behind some houses. Officers found a bonfire that was too high and too close to the wood line. The Salem Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

–Jerry Hoschar, 56, Salem, was cited for a traffic control device violation following a traffic stop in the area of South Lincoln Avenue and East Pershing Street at 6:48 p.m. Thursday. During the stop, contraband was seized by the officer.

— Shawni S. Firmstone, 20, East Palestine, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash in the 1900 block of East State Street at 4:51 p.m. Thursday in which she was eastbound and failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of a vehicle driven by Tammy L. Cope, 48, Negley. No injuries were reported.

­– Grant Adams, 22, New Waterford, was arrested on an active warrant out of Columbiana County after police responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street at 4:13 p.m. Thursday in reference to a suspicious man staggering and taking huge dramatic steps.

St. Clair Township

— An officer responded to Taco Bell on Nov. 26 at 4:29 p.m. for a report of a male needing to be removed due to harassing his children’s mother who is an employee. The officer spoke to the male who then left.

— An officer on Nov. 27 at 7:38 p.m. spoke with a female on the phone who wanted to report charges on her bank statement made by her granddaughter for which she was not aware of.

— An officer was dispatched on Nov. 27 at 2:55 p.m. to an accident on state Route 170. The officer spoke to all parties who said there was no damage to either vehicle and they just wanted it documented.

— An officer on patrol on Nov. 27 at 9:41 p.m. observed a vehicle with no license plate light. The officer checked the plate and it returned as being registered to a person with two active warrants. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver Jeffrey Miller, 42, address not provided, was found to have a suspended license. Miller was taken into custody for his active warrant and issued a citation for driving under suspension.

— An officer on Nov. 27 at 2:48 a.m. was dispatched with the highway patrol for a pursuit that happened earlier in the day. The officer arrived and spoke with a trooper who said he believed he found the vehicle involved in the pursuit. Troopers asked the officer to stand by while he spoke to the vehicle’s owner if he was present at the address. The trooper and vehicle owner spoke and officers were told to leave the property. The trooper went to a nearby neighbor’s property to obtain plate information for his investigation from a distance.

— An officer responded to a report of a female shoplifter at Walmart on Nov. 29 at 7:13 p.m. Miranda Martin, 19, address not provided, was charged with petty theft and issued a court date for failing to pay for 22 items totaling $317.45.

— An officer spoke by telephone to a male on Dec. 1 at 7:52 p.m. who wanted to report a male on his property earlier in the day that he does not want there. The caller requested a report be filed and extra checks made on his residence.
