Salem

— A patrolling officer conducted a traffic stop for a registration violation on Dodge Drive at West State Street at 7:29 a.m. Sunday. During the stop K9 Simon was deployed and indicated the presence of a narcotic odor. The driver was issued a warning for the registration violation.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 11:55 p.m. Saturday in reference to an assault and learned that two men had been in a physical altercation. Due to conflicting stories and the fact that other people involved had left before officers arrived, no one was charged with an offense.

— Officers responded to a 2800 block East State Street business at 10:23 p.m. Saturday in reference to an employee who was stealing from the business. Officers spoke with asset protection and the employee in question, who was not identified, and advised a summons for theft would be sent to the courts.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Jennings Avenue at 6:03 p.m. Saturday in reference to an individual who had been evicted the prior month and was not welcome anymore. The individual left before officers arrived and the caller was advised to call police if the person returned.

— Officers responded to a 2800 block East State Street business at 5:51 p.m. Saturday in reference to two people who attempted to pass all points of sale without paying for merchandise and fled after employees stopped them, retrieving the items. Officers reviewed the security footage to identify the individuals.

— Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with an arrest in the 100 block of West State Street at 4:05 p.m. Saturday. The man in question was transported to the police station for booking and $60 was seized as evidence.

— A North Ellsworth Avenue resident reported at 2:04 p.m. Saturday receiving an email that appeared to be from the local priest about sending gift cards through a link in the email. An officer advised the caller to delete the email and advise the priest of the issue.

— Police responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 1:19 p.m. Saturday where a resident reported the downstairs neighbor was using a broom handle to bang on the ceiling. Police spoke with the neighbor who said the caller stomps around causing her not to sleep properly. Both individuals were advised they need to get along due to living in close proximity.

— Police responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 1 p.m. Saturday in reference to an irate person. Officers spoke to everyone involved who said there would no longer be an issue.

— Officers investigating possible shots fired at 1400 block North Ellsworth Avenue property at 10:54 a.m. Saturday, found to be from the Salem Police Department shooting range, located a makeshift structure despite “no trespassing” and “no hunting” posted. Officers found the structure unoccupied and advised the property owner to call the police if they find anyone on the property.

— Police responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 8:41 a.m. Saturday where a resident reported having fainting spells. Medical personnel arrived and transported the resident to the hospital.

— Police responded to the area of Continental and Bentley drives at 7:52 a.m. Saturday in reference an individual who was unhealthy and living in poor conditions. Medical personnel responded and the individual was transported to the hospital for treatment.

— Police responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 6:41 a.m. Saturday where a resident wanted to speak with an officer regarding his living situation. Officers found that the business where the caller lives had requested medical personnel for a situation and the resident did not want to be transported to the hospital. Officers assisted the resident to a stretcher for transportation.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of Liberty Street at 12:34 a.m. Saturday in reference to three juveniles knocking on doors. Officers checked the area but were unable to find anyone.

— Officers responded to the 2000 block of Monroe Street at 5:40 p.m. Friday in reference to people to be removed and found employees of a rental business in a verbal dispute with a resident while they were attempting to recover a television. All individuals were advised it was a civil matter and the employees left the area.

— Mary Ann Marcelli, 43, Canton, was arrested on active warrants out of Stark County after officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 5:26 p.m. Friday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with her arrest.

— Shane Knepper, no age listed, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension after an officer observed a table fall out of a pick up truck he was driving in area of Ohio Avenue and East Pershing Street at 3:35 p.m. Friday.

— Police responded to the 800 block of East Sixth Street at 2:16 p.m. Friday where a resident reported a company working on her neighbor’s house was traveling through her yard, causing damage. Police spoke with the workers and advised them to stay out of the caller’s yard.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East School Street at 1:21 p.m. Friday where a resident reported her sister had physically assaulted her, scratching her neck, wrist and hand. The resident said her sister left while she was on the phone with police and wanted to pursue charges of domestic violence.

Columbiana

— Terry L. Jones, 53, Leetonia, was charged with OVI and cited for driving under suspension and left of center following a traffic stop on Union Street Extension at 7:!9 p.m. Dec. 15. A passenger, Bobbie Jean Anchaondo, 51, Leetonia, was charged with obstructing official business during the stop for refusing commands to exit the vehicle.

— Glenn Grubb, no age or address listed, was cited for reckless operation and fleeing the scene of a crash at 11:16 a.m. Dec. 13 at state routes 7 and 46. The highway patrol is handling additional charges regarding the crash.

— Officers responded to a South Main Street home at 3:03 p.m. Dec. 12 for a welfare check. Officers were unable to make contact with the residence on scene, but later made contact with them and determined everything to by okay.

— Police received a report of trespassing at a 100 block Nulf Drive business at 9:04 a.m. Dec. 12.

— Shawntai M. Beiling, 34, North Lima, was arrested on felony warrants out of Mahoning County following a traffic stop on North Main Street at 10:20 p.m. Dec. 11.

— Krysta-Jo M. Barber, 32, Washingtonville, was cited for driving under suspension and expired registration following a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Village Plaza at 9:23 p.m. Dec. 11.

— Benjamin M. Lucas, 28, Youngstown, was charged with OVI following a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Village Plaza at 10:25 p.m. Dec. 8.

— Robert E. McQuillan Jr., 65, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Chestnut Alley at 1:54 p.m. Dec. 8.

— A search warrant was executed at a 300 block West Salem Street apartment at 9:25 a.m. Dec. 6 in reference to a ongoing investigation.

— Jimmy C. Anderson, 33, Lisbon, was cited for no driver’s license following at traffic stop on West Salem Street at 1:40 p.m. Dec. 5. Officers recovered minor misdemeanor contraband during the stop and destroyed it at the police station.

— The Firestone Park superintendent reported at 12:59 p.m. Dec. 4 a commemorative metal marker had been stolen over the past couple weeks.

— Officers responded to a Colonial Drive home at 12:37 a.m. Dec. 2 in reference to someone banging on a window of the residence. Officers located the person in question who said he was attempting to retrieve belongings form the home. The person was advised of his options and sent on his way after being told he was trespassed from the property.

— Cody A. Dehoff, 34, Columbiana, was charged with possessing drug abuse instruments and cited for several unspecified traffic offenses following a traffic stop on state Route 14 near Creek Road at 10:32 p.m. Dec. 1.
