Salem Police
– Police responded to a 2800 block East State Street business at 10:53 a.m. Saturday where an individual reported being harassed by his ex-girlfriend. He was advised of his options.
– Ryan D. Armstrong, 38, Depot Road, Salem, was charged with criminal trespass after officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 12:48 a.m. Saturday where someone reported Armstrong had conducted a drug deal in a parking lot, then entered a nearby bar. Officers located Armstrong, who denied the allegation, but was found to have been trespassed from the bar.
– Officers responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 9:01 p.m. Friday in reference to a domestic dispute and found a verbal altercation. All people involved were advised to separate.
– An officer responded to the 800 block of Aetna Street at 7:18 p.m. Friday where a resident reported two people dumping his leaf bags outside his home. Officers found several bags had been dumped. The two people left the scene when the resident came outside and officers were unable to find them.
– Brigit Young, 54, Salem, was arrested on a warrant out of Columbiana County for theft after officers responded to her Hawley Avenue at 6 p.m. Friday in reference to multiple disorderly people causing a scene outside.
– Don I. McGuire, 52, Salem, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash on Mullins Street at South Ellsworth Avenue at 2:25 p.m. Friday in which he was eastbound when he drove off the south side of the roadway, striking a stop sign and utility pole, in order to avoid striking a vehicle stopped at the stop sign. No injuries were reported.
– Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in the arrest of a man in the 100 block of West State Street at 12:43 p.m. Friday. Officers seized $140 as evidence.
– An officer responded to the 1100 block of East Tenth Street at 11:54 a.m. Friday where a resident reported letting two people stay at his home to take care of it while he was out of town and when he returned, he found holes in the walls and items missing.
– An individual reported on station at 9:48 a.m. Friday a co-worker had assaulted her while they were at work at a business on South Lincoln Avenue that morning. Officers documented the woman’s injuries. An investigation is pending the woman’s follow up with her employer.
– An officer responded to the 1300 block of Carole Drive at 9:42 a.m. Friday in reference to a juvenile standing alone and crying in a back yard. The officer spoke with someone at the home who said the juvenile is her grandson and ran out of the house because he wasn’t listening to her. She said the incident happened earlier in the morning and her grandson was already at school.
–Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 8:41 a.m. Friday for a report of a stolen vehicle. The person advised that when awakening that morning their vehicle was missing from the driveway. Information was collected for the report and the vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.
–Officers responded to the area of Hawley Avenue and East Sixth Street at 1:23 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check on a man in a wheelchair allegedly going down the roadway screaming. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate them.
–Officers on patrol in the 8700 block of Salem Unity Road at 8:52 p.m. Thursday conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for several moving violations and suspicion that the vehicle was involved in an earlier hit and skip. Officers found the driver, Chad Vodhanel, 47, Boardman, to be intoxicated and driving under suspension. Vodhanel was taken into custody and transported to the police department for processing charged with OVI, driving under suspensions, open container, and a marked lanes violation, and hit and skip for the previous incident and released to the custody of a sober driver.
–Officers responded to a business in the 2300 block of East State Street at 7:58 p.m. Thursday for a report of theft. The caller advised that one of his employee’s magnetic advertisement sign stolen from his car in the parking lot valued at approximately $200-250. An employee later called back to advised they found the sign on a truck at Wal-Mart and retrieved it and provided a license plate number for the vehicle the sign as found on.
–Officers responded to the 1900 block of East Pershing Street at 4:19 p.m. Thursday for speak with officer report. Officers spoke with the caller and advised them of their options for handling the situation.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of Bank Street at 12:52 p.m. Thursday for a report of a person to be removed. Officers located the person in question, Ariel Durham, 34, whom they were familiar with and knew had previously been trespassed from the property. Officers took Durham into custody without incident and transported her to the Columbiana County Jail.
–Officers responded to the 1100 block of Salem Parkway at 11:51 a.m. Thursday for a report of fraud. The caller advised a business check had been mailed but never reached the intended destination and been cashed by an unauthorized person. All pertinent information was gathered and will be forwarded to the detective division.
–Officers responded to the 2500 block of East State Street at 9:14 a.m. Thursday for a reported motor vehicle accident. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate any problem.
–Officers responded to the area of West Pershing Street and Dodge Drive at 7:31 a.m. Thursday for a report of a vehicle passing a school bus while it was stopped unloading children. The driver was able to provide officers with the vehicle’s registration as well as a description of the driver. Officers were also able to review a video of the incident and identify the driver. Officers responded to the 900 block of West Pershing to speak with the driver of the vehicle, whose name was not listed, and admitted to passing the bus. Officers cited the man with passing a school bus.
–Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 9:56 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a dog locked in a vehicle. Officers observed the vehicle to be occupied and running and the driver advised she was waiting for her husband to get off work at the hospital.
–Officers responded to the area of East Pershing Street at 3:39 p.m. Wednesday for a reported domestic dispute inside a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and separated the parties, observing no signs of physical altercation. Officers did locate marijuana paraphernalia inside the vehicle and the driver, Summer Felker, 30, Salem, was cited. Officers advised both parties to stay away from each other.
–Officers responded to the 700 block of Arch Street at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday for a person to be removed. The caller advised her son who was recently evicted was at the residence and she believed he was under the influence of narcotics. Officers spoke with the son who advised he wanted to be transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment. Officers advised he was no longer wanted at the residence, and due to the eviction no longer had any right to be there, which he advised he understood.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday for a report of criminal trespass. Officers located the person in question, Areil Durham, 34, Salem, and she was detained, and officers confirmed that the person had been trespassed from the property and took her into custody transporting her to the Columbiana County Jail.
