Perry Township

–Officers responded to the 1600 block of Franklin Avenue at 12:56 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The caller advised that her children were recently with her for visitation and were now back with their father, and that their phones were now off, and she couldn’t reach them. Officers spoke with the father and children at his home, finding them to be in good health and not afraid. The father explained that they were putting away all electronics inside the home to spend time with each other.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 11:02 p.m. Saturday for a reported theft. The caller advised that her cousin had dropped off a 55-inch TV on the porch and when she returned home the TV was gone. The caller advised that the TV was outside for about an hour. Officers advised that a report would be made, and advised the caller to contact them if they are able to provide a serial number for the TV.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 10:38 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. The Columbiana Police Department advised a man was supposed to pick up his wife at the hospital but never arrived. Prior to officer’s arrival the Columbiana department advised them that the man had made it back home.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 10:22 p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised that her boyfriend had broken her fish tank during an argument. Both parties were intoxicated and nothing physical occurred. The caller agreed to stay at a friend’s house for the night and transported by officers.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 8:43 p.m. Saturday for a report of juveniles banging on her front door. Officers were advised the caller’s daughter has had issues with the juveniles and the caller requested officers speak with the juveniles. Officers attempted to locate the juveniles in question but were unable to do so.

— Officers responded to a business in the 1700 block of East State Street at 7:28 p.m. Saturday for a wellness check. Officers were advised that a woman had went into the store and when she came back her adult son walked off down the street after an argument, leaving her without a ride home. Officers were able to make contact with the man and gave him a courtesy transport back to his mother.

— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 7:07 p.m. Saturday for a report of a reckless operator coming into the city. The caller also advised of a possible road rage incident. Officers spoke with the driver who advised he was being tailgated and slowed down for the vehicle to go around him. No signs of impairment were shown.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 4:37 p.m. Saturday for a report of a suspicious person. Officers located the person in question and spoke with him. Officers identified the man and advised him of the complaint.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:35 p.m. Saturday for a report of a possible stolen vehicle. The caller advised that his vehicle had been parked on the roadway for some time. Officers checked the past parking complaint and found the vehicle had been towed by Kaiser Towing due to a complaint. The caller advised he understood and officers advised him of the city ordinances regarding parking on the roadway.

— Brian McNeal, no age listed, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after his vehicle failed to yield from a private drive and struck a vehicle driven west on West Wilson Avenue by Sophie Tomko, no age listed, Salem, at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 10:21 a.m. Tuesday for a report of people searching through bushes around the outside of the residence. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Fourth Street at 9:17 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a vicious dog. Officers spoke with the owner who advised his dogs were secured in a fenced back yard and are only outside for a short time. Officers advised the man of the complaint.

— Officers responded to Walmart at 8:41 a.m. Tuesday for a report of three men suspiciously running in the parking lot carrying a storage tote and a suitcase. Further investigation found the men had stolen the items, and the loss prevention team advised they would be obtaining video of the individuals. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the area of East Third Street and North Lincoln Avenue at 5:42 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a reckless driver. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Fourth Street at 2:41 a.m. Tuesday for a reported assault. Officers found two parties known to each other had gotten into a verbal altercation that turned physical, in which one of the involved parties sustained a possible minor injury. The fire department responded but the individual refused medical care. Neither party involved wanted to pursue any charges and were separated for the remainder of the evening.

— Officers on patrol in the 100 block of East Sixth Street at 12:14 a.m. Tuesday conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation. During the investigation field sobriety testing was conducted on the driver, Bruce Catterlin, 69, due to suspicion of OVI, and he was subsequently taken into custody for OVI and transported to the police department for further testing. An inventory of the vehicle was conducted which yielded marijuana paraphernalia that was later destroyed at the police department. After breath testing Catterlin was ultimately cited for OVI and a turn signal violation and later released to a family member for a transport home.

— Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:37 p.m. Monday for a report of a reckless operator. Officers checked the area and found what may have been the vehicle in question parked and unoccupied at a residence.

— Officers responded to the area of North Howard Avenue and West Fifth Street at11:01 p.m. Monday to assist Ohio State Highway Patrol with a traffic stop. Officers stood by while a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted.

— Officers responded to the 1500 block of East State Street at 9:14 p.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious person. The caller advised a man had walked to the bottom of his porch steps and appeared to be looking around his front yard. Officers checked the area, but nobody was located.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Fourth Street at 7:41 p.m. Monday for a reported civil matter. The caller advised he had put up a no trespassing sign on his property, but his tenant who lives in an apartment off of the back of the residence had covered the sign with a Halloween decoration. Officers advised both parties of their options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 5:39 p.m. Monday to assist the humane officer in attempting to get a cat out of an engine compartment of a parked vehicle. When the owner had opened the hood the humane officers observed a small kitten, but it immediately climbed down into the bottom of the engine compartment. The kitten eventually jumped down but ran beneath several nearby vehicles and could not be located after that.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 3:43 p.m. Monday for a reported hit and skip accident. The caller advised that an unknown vehicle had struck the rear of her vehicle which was legally parked and unoccupied in the parking lot. Officers requested video from the business to identify the other vehicle. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Sixth Street at 10:46 a.m. Monday to assist Columbiana County Children Services with an investigation.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 9:22 a.m. Monday for a report of recovered property. It was advised that a book bag was left in the bathroom. Officers searched the bag and placed it in recovered property at the police department.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 9 a.m. Monday for a report of graffiti on a garage. The caller advised that sometime overnight an unknown person spraypainted parts of the garage door. The caller requested an extra watch be conducted in the area.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 8:46 a.m. Monday for a report of theft from a motor vehicle that occurred sometime the previous night. The caller advised that she went out to her vehicle in the morning and found the door slightly ajar and noticed her wallet was missing. She also advised that one of her bank cards was attempted to be used at a bank on State Street, and that when the wrong pin was entered, she received an email for a flag on the account. No forced entry was observed and the woman was advised to contact officers if anything else came up missing.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Aetna Street at 8:24 a.m. Monday for a report of a dog at large. Officers observed the dog running through back yards and spoke with the owner who advised the dog had broken its harness. The owner was able to catch the dog.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Perry Street at 8:08 a.m. Monday for a reported parking complaint. Officers spoke with the owner of the vehicle who moved it upon request.

East Liverpool

— Officers were dispatched on Sept. 23 at 12:22 p.m. to Market Street for a welfare check on a female in the alley. The female stated she was OK and that she was on lunch and got sick and did not need medical attention.

— Officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Smithfield Street for a possible domestic on Sept. 23 at 2:34 p.m. Officers did not hear anything when they arrived and were not able to make contact with anyone.

— Officers were dispatched to the North Shadylane on Sept. 23 at 10:55 p.m. in reference to a vehicle honking its horn while driving by a residence. Officers checked the area but were unable to find a vehicle matching the description.

— Officers were dispatched to the area behind Dave and Deb’s Bar on Lisbon Street for a complaint of loud music on Sept. 23 at 10:53 p.m. Officers checked the area but had negative contact with any disturbing noise.
