Salem

— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 7:08 p.m. Monday for a report of theft. The caller advised they observed a man walk out a fire exit with a large white box before fleeing behind the store. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the man. Officers spoke with store employees who were able to locate the man on store surveillance, and the investigation is pending.

— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 4:07 p.m. Monday regarding a letter he had received in the mail. The man advised he thought the letter might be a scam and officers provided him with the options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 3:43 p.m. Monday for a report of a possible hit and skip. Officers found the accident had occurred outside the city in Perry Township, and officers requested Perry Township officers respond. Officers also located the other vehicle and stood by while Perry Township officers completed their investigation.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of East third Street at 10:41 a.m. Monday for a reported civil matter. The caller advised that they had been at court to evict their tenants and wanted to make entry to see if he had voluntarily left. Officers advised that the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office would handle the removal of the tenant if the eviction process was completed.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 3:38 a.m. Thursday for a 911-hang-up-call. Officers found that the homeowner had fallen and needed help. The fire department was requested to respond for medical assistance and to assist in gaining entry. Due to being unable to gain entry officers had to break a window to get the homeowner help. The first responders tended to the homeowner who ultimately refused any further treatment once she was okay. Officers temporarily secured the window before departing.

— Officers on patrol in the area of Waterworth Memorial Park observed a vehicle in the park after hours at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday. Officers advised the occupants of park hours, and learned that the passenger, a female juvenile, was only 15 and in violation of the city’s curfew ordinance, and subsequently took her into custody and transported to the police department where she was released to her mother. The 18-year-old male driver was advised to leave the park.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 10:59 p.m. Wednesday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with both parties and found the incident to be verbal in nature only. Officers advised them to separate for the night.

— Officers responded to the area of West Pigeon Road and Bethel Drive at 9:01 p.m. Wednesday to assist Perry Township Officers with a traffic stop by administering a preliminary breath test for suspicion of OVI.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Franklin Street at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a domestic in progress. Officers spoke with the residents who advised nobody was arguing and everything was okay. Officers observed no issues.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 7:31 p.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that his live-in-girlfriend had thrown an object through the window from outside, which resulted in the window shattering and shard of glass landing on their 7-month-old son. No injuries were observed nor reported. Officers advised that a report would be on file.

— Officers responded to the area of Penn Avenue and Columbia Street at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a water line break. Before officers arrived, they were advised the water department had responded and was handling the matter.

— Officers responded to the 2200 block of East Pershing Street at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday for a reported hit-and-skip accident. Laurence Gentle, Salem was backing out of a parking spot when an unknown driver, who was driving the wrong way down a one-way road struck Gentle’s vehicle without stopping and was last seen proceeding westbound on East Pershing Avenue.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2300 block of East State Street at 2:12 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a person to be removed. Officers were advised a man was acting strangely and being aggressive to other patrons. Officers advised the man the business wanted him to leave, which he did without issue.

St. Clair Township

— An officer responded to a road rage report at Tim Hortons parking lot on state Route 170 on Oct. 12 at 5:38 a.m. Upon arrival, the officer was told the parties involved had left and was told which direction they headed. The officer caught up to both vehicles and conducted a traffic stop. The officer spoke with both parties and released them.

— Officers were dispatched on Oct. 13 at 2:41 a.m., to the Horsemen Camp on Sprucevale Road for a female arguing with her mother and a male.

— An officer conducted a traffic stop on St. Clair Avenue on Oct. 15 at 10 p.m., for a vehicle with a loud or defective exhaust. While talking with the driver identified as Lisa Buchanan (age and address not provided) the officer observed an open container in the vehicle. A K9 conducted an open-air sniff and alerted on the vehicle which was then searched. The officer found six burnt pipes, a red straw and a marijuana grinder. Buchanan was charged with drug paraphernalia and loud or defective exhaust and issued a court summons.

— An officer was dispatched on Oct. 16 at 5:08 p.m., to Walmart for a female shoplifter. A loss prevention officer from Walmart told the officer that Deborah Jackson, 35, (address not provided) was observed selecting multiple items before going to the self-check-out where she failed to scan and pay for 18 items totaling $106.09. Jackson was placed under arrest and charged with petty theft.

— An officer conducted a traffic stop on Oct. 17 at 4:07 a.m., on Dresden Avenue. The vehicle was towed by Calcutta Towing and the driver’s license was seized and sent to Ohio BMW. No further information provided.

— Officers were dispatched to Walmart on Oct 17 at 5:46 p.m., for a private property accident. Officers spoke to the owner of the vehicle who said her car had been hit and someone left a note saying they saw what happened.

— An officer responded to Burger King on state Route 170 for a vehicle that struck the building while going through the drive-thru.

— An officer was dispatched to the 47000 block of Warren Avenue on Oct. 18 at 5:49 p.m., for a domestic in progress. Timothy Moore, 64, (address not provided) was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence after inflicting physical harm on his mother.

— An officer responded to the Walmart parking on Oct 18 at 3:35 p.m., for a private property accident.

— An officer was dispatched on Oct. 25 at 2:38 a.m., to the 49000 block of South Meadowbrook Circle for a noise complaint of barking dogs. The officer noted on his arrival the dogs could be heard from around the block. The dog owner was advised to take her dogs indoors and that she could be cited for noise violation.
