County Sheriff

— A woman on Parkview Drive, Center Township, reported at 10:34 a.m. Oct. 12 that she believed her neighbors entered her house when she wasn’t there, saying the deadbolt was unlocked but the doorknob was locked. She believed she left with the doorknob unlocked and the deadbolt locked. She had no evidence they were in the house, due to nothing stolen or disturbed. She was concerned because she didn’t think she left the locks that way.

— A female was requested removed from a home on state Route 14, Unity Township, at 3:39 a.m. Oct. 12. Upon arrival, a deputy learned she was inside the house and was with the son, who is a resident. The homeowners were told he’s allowed to have guests over despite not being the owner of the residence. The female, son and his friend left for the night. Deputies had been to the residence at 10:56 p.m. Oct. 11 for a complaint about the son’s ex-girlfriend sitting in the driveway in her vehicle. She left while deputies were en route.

— A juvenile reported missing at 12:06 a.m. Oct. 12 from a Speidel Road, Hanover Township property, was located on West Pine Street in Lisbon by Lisbon Police.

— A man who owns property on Pleasant Valley Road, Yellow Creek Township, reported at 6:06 p.m. Oct. 11 that someone dumped house siding, vehicle parts, garbage and mail on the property. The report will be forwarded to ODNR.

— A six-passenger golf cart was reported left on a farmer’s property on state Route 9 and Whinnery Road at 9:33 p.m. Oct. 9 for about a day and a half. A deputy checked with Fireside Lake and learned it was their golf cart. Baker’s Towing was contacted to tow it back to the campground.

— A deputy was advised of a possible case of threats of self-harm at 7:52 p.m. Oct. 9 and was able to finally make contact with the person by phone, although she wouldn’t reveal her location and said she wanted to speak to her therapist. She terminated the call and shortly after, the therapist called the deputy and said she was en route to her patient in Boardman and requested law enforcement in case a pink slip was necessary. The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and requested on scene.

— A caller at 4:37 p.m. Oct. 9 reported an unknown person was sending her 14-year-old daughter nude photos with her face photoshopped in the pictures. A deputy spoke with the woman and the juvenile and observed the messages between the two parties, with the other party requesting additional photographs from the juvenile.

— A open 911 line was reported at 4:16 a.m. Oct. 9 on North Street, Salineville. A woman said her cell phone has a broken screen and has started making random calls. She said they could hear the operator, but she must not have heard their response. Everything was fine at the residence.

— Ryan Gonzalez, 19, Canton, was charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and burglary, a fourth-degree felony, after deputies were called at 12:45 p.m. Oct. 8 to Canal Street, Dungannon, for a person being threatened with a baseball bat. Gonzalez was the caller and claimed he was threatened, but witnesses said he was on the property without permission and punched a man and the man’s leg went through a window, with the injury requiring stitches.

— An alleged assault of a juvenile was reported at 10:19 a.m. Oct. 8 on Stephen Drive, West Township. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review.

— Juveniles were reported driving recklessly on Camp Boulevard in Hanover Township at 9:01 p.m. Oct. 7.

Perry Township

— Officers responded to the 4600 block of Depot Road at 4:34 a.m. Sunday to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with a report of a suspicious man walking down Depot Road. Officers located the man who advised he was walking home.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:56 a.m. Sunday to assist Ohio State Highway Patrol with a traffic stop. One woman, whose name was not listed, was taken into custody and the vehicle was removed by Sinsley’s Towing.

— Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Georgetown Road and West Pershing Street at 1:32 a.m. Sunday for a stop sign and left of center violation. Officers found the driver, Brant Matz, 25, Salem, to be operating the vehicle impaired and he was taken into custody for OVI and issued citations for the traffic violation.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Elberon Avenue at 9:52 p.m. Saturday for a report of threats being made over the phone. The caller advised that her ex-boyfriend was calling and threatening her and her current boyfriend on the phone. Officers heard several threats being made over the phone and advised the man making them that he needed to stop. Officers gathered witness statements and will be investigating further.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Depot Road at 8:48 a.m. Saturday for a report of an odor of gas inside a residence. Officers stood by until the fire department left the scene.

— Officers on patrol in the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:32 a.m. Saturday located a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot. Officers spoke with the driver, who advised that he was speaking with his mechanic regarding his vehicle being worked on.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 12:42 a.m. Saturday to assist the Salem Police Department with a fight. Officers assisted Salem officers in locating and speaking with all parties involved.

— Officers responded to Crybaby Bridge at 8:15 p.m. Friday for a report of several teenagers yelling. The teenagers had already left prior to officers’ arrival.

— Officers responded to the railroad crossing at Allen Road at 5:22 p.m. Friday for a report of a train blocking the tracks and several semis being stuck. Officers along with Salem police blocked state Route 14 so the trucks could back out onto the road and continue to the industrial park a different way.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of state Route 344 at 4:40 p.m. Friday to assist Sinsley’s Towing in recovering a stolen excavator. Officers stood by to ensure no problems arose.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Apple Street at 4:24 p.m. Friday for a report of a firearm found in a rental property. The owner of the property advised he was cleaning out the house after the previous tenants moved out and located a firearm in the basement. Officers got the information of the previous tenant and secured the firearm.

— Angela Toot, 18, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her eastbound vehicle on Georgetown Road failed to yield from a stop sign causing a collision with a vehicle driven south on state Route 45 by Kevin Douglas, 29, Alliance. Both vehicles suffered disabling damage and had to be towed, and the fire department also responded to assist with traffic control. One passenger, whose name was not listed, was taken to the hospital by EMT for possible minor injuries.

— Officers responded to the Freshmark parking lot at 12:21 p.m. Friday for a reported fight. Officers determined the altercation was over the relationship status of an employee and another individual. All parties were separated and did not want to pursue charges. The woman involved was not an employee and was given a verbal trespass notice over the phone and advised not to return to the business.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11 a.m. Friday for a report of a man having a medical emergency. Officers assisted until EMT arrived and transported them to Mercy Health Youngstown.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Pershing Avenue at 8:25 p.m. Thursday to assist the Salem Police Department with an intoxicated man. Officers assisted Salem officers until they concluded their investigation.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 300 block of West State Street at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday for report of recovered property. Officers took possession of the item and transported it to the police department. The owner was contacted and collected the item.

— Officers responded to the area of East State Street and South Cunningham Road at 11:51 a.m. Monday for a report of a malfunctioning traffic signal. Officers monitored the signal for several cycles with no issues.
