County Sheriff

-- A deputy doing property and security checks at Guilford Highlands on Depot Road at 12:10 a.m. Thursday saw the hatch open and light on inside a vehicle parked in a driveway. The interior and exterior of the vehicle were checked and nothing appeared damaged or messed with. The deputy contacted the owner and learned he left the hatch open by accident.

-- A woman on U.S. Route 30, West Township, reported at 6:49 p.m. Tuesday that her daughter was moving out and she wanted to know what all she can take with her. She was told it's a civil matter and all disputes over property will have to be handled in civil court.

-- A woman from Butler Township reported at 4:57 p.m. Tuesday that personal papers were stolen out of her vehicle at her place of employment, Ag Pro, U.S. Route 62, Knox Township. At 6:50 p.m. Saturday, the same woman reported a burglary at her residence and said her couch was damaged.

-- A deputy at 9:17 a.m. Tuesday was dispatched to check the welfare of some kittens at the Lisbon McDonald's on state Route 45. The deputy was unable to locate the kittens after speaking to an employee who said the kittens ran off with the mother when he opened the gate.

-- A Brookfield Avenue, Center Township resident reported at 9:18 p.m. Saturday that the driver's side window on his vehicle was damaged.

-- A man on Tower Road, Butler Township, reported at 5:30 p.m. Saturday that his neighbor had music playing outside and her dogs bark and growl at him.

-- A deputy at 5:49 a.m. Sept. 29 took a report of a vehicle broken into overnight, with several tools taken from the vehicle on Chestnut Street Extension, Leetonia.

Salem

--Officers responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check after two accidental 911 calls. Officers spoke with the caller who appeared okay, and advised they were having issues with their phone.

--Officers responded to the 500 block of East State Street at 10:53 p.m. Wednesday for a report of public urination. Officers located the person inside a business, and advised them and the manager of the business that if any sort of action like that occurred again, the person would be charged accordingly.

--Officers responded to the intersection of Ohio Avenue and East Pershing Street at 9:38 p.m. Wednesday for a report of debris in the roadway. Officers located two sections of the concrete curb approximately three to four inches into the roadway broken off at the northeast corner. Officers placed both sections of concrete in the grass curb lawn near where they had broken away from the curb.

--Officers responded to the 500 block of Bank Street at 9:12 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the man in question who advised that he was fine, and the caller will not leave him alone. Officers advised him to block the calls if the issues persist.

--Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Fourth Street at 5:24 p.m. Wednesday for a standby call. The man gathered his belongings and left without incident.

--Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Fourth Street at 4:18 p.m. Wednesday for a report of wires down in the roadway. Officers located the wires, which were only phone wires, and removed them from the roadway.

--Officers responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive at 2:53 p.m. Wednesday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that every time he goes to see his girlfriend at her apartment complex, the complex manager always yells at him. Officers advised that contact would be attempted at the complex with the manager to advise her to leave the caller alone.

--Officers responded to the area of Continental Drive and Bentley Drive at 1:29 p.m. for a report of a mail truck operating recklessly.

--Officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Jefferson Avenue at 12:56 p.m. Wednesday to assist Columbia Gas and the fire department with a possible gas leak. Columbia Gas advised they were unable to make contact at the residence and may need to force entry, prompting them to contact the police and fire departments. Dispatch was able to locate a contact number for a resident who responded to the residence a short time later.

--Officers responded to the 400 block of West State Street at 11:23 a.m. Wednesday observed recent graffiti that had been spray painted onto a bridge support. The damage was photographed and will be painted over by city officials in the near future.

--Officers responded to the 500 block of West Wilson Street at 11:13 a.m. Wednesday for a report of potential gunfire. Officers checked throughout the area but were unable to determine what had been the source of the noise. No odor of gunpowder was detected in the air, and officers were in the area for approximately 20 minutes without hearing any further disturbances.

--Officers responded to the 200 block of East third Street at 10:57 a.m. Wednesday to check for a man with a warrant. Officers spoke with the man, Matthew Shelton, 24, Salem, advising him of the warrant and taking him into custody. Shelton was transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

--Officers responded to the 300 block of Ohio Avenue at 9:57 a.m. Wednesday at the request of the housing department for a vehicle to be towed. Officers requested Davidsons Towing remove the vehicle.

--Officers responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 7:44 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a person sitting in the street. Officers spoke to several individuals who had just finished a brief repair on a vehicle. Officers advised them of the complaint and of the city ordinance prohibiting working on cars parked on city streets.

Liverpool Township

-- An officer conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 8 at 6:47 p.m. for a vehicle with an obstructed temporary tag traveling on Anderson Boulevard. The driver, Coty Brown, 32, address not provided, told the officer he did not have a valid license. The passenger, Michael David, 32, address not provided, also did not have a valid license. When the officer asked if they had anything illegal in the car, Brown said there was a firearm in the backpack by his feet. David told the officer in the backpack by his feet was a scale with residue on it. After a search/tow inventory of the vehicle was conducted with consent, the officer found two glass meth pipes, several unused baggies, straws, push rods, a burn cap, the scale with residue, another meth pipe and a plastic container with white powder residue. David told officers in his pocket was a bag of "fake" meth. Brown and David were transported to Liverpool Township Police Department and released on summons.

-- An officer conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 8 at 2:48 p.m. after clocking a vehicle traveling 51 mph on Lisbon Street in a marked 20 mph school zone. Aidrianna Green, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and court date for speed in a\school zone.

-- An officer conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 13 at 2:21 p.m., after observing a vehicle traveling 33 mph on Lisbon Street in a 20-mph marked school zone. Michael Kassander, no age or address listed, was issued a citation and mandatory court date for no driver's license and speed offense in a school zone. The vehicle was left at a gas station for a licensed driver to pick up.

-- An officer conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 14 at 2:56 p.m. after observing a vehicle traveling 38 mph on Lisbon Street in a 20-mph marked school zone. Daya Pethel, no age or address listed, was issued a citation and court date for running a red light and speed offense in a school zone.

-- An officer conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 15 at 2:47 p.m. after clocking a vehicle traveling 38 mph on Lisbon Street in a 20-mph marked school zone. Kathy Tudor, age and address not provided, was issued citations and a court date for running a red light and speed in a school zone.

-- Officers responded to Fisher Avenue on Sept. 20 at 2:46 a.m. for a report of a loose dog outside a residence who had been barking for several hours. Upon arrival, a great dane came running up to the officer's car. The officer put the dog in his cruiser and took it to the county dog pound.

-- An officer made contact with a male from New Hampshire on Sept. 22 at 12:24 a.m. who wanted to report that back in July of 2022 his house had been broken into with several items stolen, one being a rare telescope purchased in Japan of which there were only three in the United States. A friend advised him that a telescope matching his was seen posted on Facebook Marketplace by a person who lives in East Liverpool. The officer advised the caller he would follow up on the item and get back to him.

-- An officer responded to a disabled vehicle posing a traffic hazard on state Route 7 on Sept. 26 at 11:07 a.m. The officer found the vehicle to be abandoned and called First Class Towing to remove it. The driver arrived at the same time as the tow truck and agreed to meet the tow driver at the impound yard so they could get the road open.

-- An officer took a report from the American Legion on Sept. 26 at 12:28 p.m. for receipt of a counterfeit $20 bill.

-- An officer conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 27 at 8:21 a.m. on Annesley Road for a driver who passed a county road department tractor on the left side in a no passing zone. Brittany Ingledule, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and court date for improper passing and a verbal warning for expired plates.

-- An officer was dispatched on Oct. 3 at 3:12 a.m. to a possible electrical fire in the 400 block of Seventh Avenue. The officer spoke with the residents who said they were awakened by the smell. The officer went inside where he could smell the odor and see smoke. The officer made sure all residents were out of the house and waited with them for East Liverpool Fire Department to respond. The fire department located the outlet that caught fire and spoke with the residents about not overloading the outlets.

East Liverpool

-- An officer responded on Sept. 4 at 10:51 a.m. to a report of criminal damage in the 300 block of Vine Street. A male reported that his pickup truck was vandalized while he was sleeping.

-- An officer responded to the 200 block of Wilbert Avenue on Sept. 4 at 6:40 p.m. for a report of two dogs being abandoned by the previous residents. A female told the officer that kids in the neighborhood had been feeding and watering the dogs left in the apartment since the owners haven't been there in about a month. The Columbiana County dog warden left a 24-hour notice.

-- An officer conducted a traffic stop on West Fourth Street after observing two juveniles he had dealt with on previous incidents riding off-road four wheelers on the city streets. The dirt bike and four-wheeler were towed by First Class Towing.

-- Officers responded to the 600 block of Riley Avenue on Sept. 4 at 3:33 p.m. for an unknown disturbance. Upon arrival they found the problem had left.

-- An officer on Sept. 4 at 11:01 a.m. conducted a traffic stop on state Route 39 on a vehicle with an expired plate. The driver, Solita Patton, 29, address not provided, was discovered to have an outstanding warrant and taken into custody. Patton had a family member come pick up her daughter who was in the vehicle and then she was transported to Columbiana County Jail.

-- Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fourth Street to conduct a warrant check on Sept. 4 at 12:24 p.m. The resident at the address said the person they were looking for had not been at the residence since the day before.
