— A 4900 block Homeworth Road, Knox Township, resident reported at 10:52 p.m. Thursday people shooting in the area. A deputy searched the area, but could not find anything.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Fourth Street at 2:54 p.m. Monday for a report of criminal damage. The caller advised that sometime over the weekend an unknown person attempted to open the gas cap of his company vehicle and damaged it, and he needed a report on file.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Washington Avenue at 1:08 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with both parties who advised the incident was verbal in nature only, and that nothing physical had occurred. The male half advised that he was going to leave the area.
— Officers responded with the fire department to the 1600 block of Salem Parkway West at 7:48 a.m. Monday for a report of a possible transformer fire. The fire department had already checked the area when officers arrived.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Bank Street at 3:41 a.m. Monday for a report of a person to be removed. The caller advised that when he arrived home a man was on his couch sleeping. Officers woke the man, and it was not the person the caller thought they were. Once they were correctly identified the man was permitted to stay.
— Officers responded to the railroad crossing at South Lincoln Avenue at 12:17 a.m. Monday to assist Perry Township officers in locating a man that allegedly wanted to harm himself. Officers checked all the potential locations reported but were unable to locate the man. Officers were later advised by the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office that the man had been located in their jurisdiction and the situation had been resolved.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:37 p.m. Sunday for a report of a runaway juvenile. The mother of the juvenile advised her daughter had left the residence because she was mad and possibly went to a friend’s residence. Officers located the residence, and the juvenile in question in the 1200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue, and the mother responded to pick her up.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Bank Street at 10:59 p.m. Sunday for reported domestic dispute. The caller advised that she and her live-in boyfriend had gotten into a verbal argument, and that the male half had left the area prior to officers’ arrival. The caller was advised to contact officers if he returned and caused further issues.
— Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Fourth Street at 6:08 p.m. Sunday for a report of an individual acting suspiciously and walking into traffic. The person in question was located walking on East Fourth Street, who was found to be okay, and ultimately advised to walk on the sidewalk and out of traffic.
— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 6:02 p.m. Sunday for a report of threatening text messages. The man advised that he had to remove a woman from a local business where he works the day prior due to their behavior, and that he had received multiple messages from them that day threatening to have someone physically harm him. The man didn’t want anything done about the issue, but wanted it documented in case an incident would arise at a later time.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 4:15 p.m. Sunday for a report of a juvenile that had become upset and broken a window. The caller advised they were concerned the juvenile may cut themselves or a family member. Officers spoke with the juvenile, who was calm and cooperative, observing the window in question and broken glass, but none in the possession of the juvenile. The juvenile was taken outside while officers removed the loose glass shards from the window for disposal. EMT subsequently responded and transported the juvenile to Akron Children’s Hospital at the mother’s request.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 1:58 p.m. for a report of possible arguing from an upstairs apartment heard by first responders. When officers arrived they could hear loud talking coming from an open window of the upstairs apartment. Officers spoke with the residents who advised they were fine and just speaking loudly.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 11:03 a.m. Sunday for a reported assault. The caller advised that she had a verbal argument with a man known to her which escalated into an assault, with the man Christopher Gaines, 20, Columbus, striking her in the face and back of the head before fleeing the residence on foot when another man entered the room. While speaking with Gaines dispatch advised that he had an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Gaines was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:14 p.m. Saturday for a report of a reckless operator. The caller advised multiple people on motorcycles were racing down the roadway. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the motorcycle.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Tenth Street at 8:45 p.m. Saturday for a noise complaint. The caller advised that juveniles were heard yelling and that it sounded like they needed help. Officers spoke with the juvenile and found they were just playing and there were no emergencies.
— Officers responded to the area of Continental and Bentley Drive at 7:35 p.m. Sunday for a noise complaint. The caller was advised that music was being played so loudly it was rattling the walls. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone being loud or playing music.
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 6:55 p.m. Saturday for a report of theft. The caller advised the person in question had obtained items from the store he did not buy, and acted as if he were returning the items to customer service to get money. The man had somehow obtained the money, and when he was about to questioned by store employees fled on foot. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the man. Officers obtained security footage but were unable to identify the man.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of East Sixth Street at 6:28 p.m. Saturday for a report of juveniles throwing rocks at each other. Officers spoke with the guardians of the juveniles, finding threats had been made between the children, so the matter is being sent to the juvenile prosecutor’s office for review.
— Officers responded to the 1400 block of Maple Street at 5:36 p.m. Saturday for a juvenile complaint. The caller advised her juvenile daughter was on a playground and found a soft drink cup and ingested the contents, and subsequently began sweating and did not feel right. The person the drink belonged to advised it was just a regular soft drink. The caller said that she believed the person purposely gave her daughter the drink; however, after speaking with several witnesses officers determined this was not the case. The fire department and EMT responded to assess the juvenile and transport them to the appropriate medical facility for further evaluation at the mother’s request.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 2:53 p.m. Saturday for a reported juvenile problem. The caller advised her 13-year-old son had run away from the house. Officers were given a clothing description of the juvenile and located them down the street and transported them home.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Third Street at 1:50 p.m. Saturday regarding questions related to residency for people staying at a rental property. The caller, who was a third party and family member of the current tenant, who is in the hospital, wanted to know about people possibly being removed from the residence. Officers advised the caller to contact the landlord due to the current tenant not making a report.
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 12:14 p.m. Saturday for a medical call. Officers assisted until no longer needed.
Liverpool Township
— An officer conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 8 at 2:34 p.m. after observing a vehicle run a light on Lisbon Street. Douglas Manley, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and court date for a red-light violation in a school zone.
— An officer was dispatched to Campground Road 44 for a possible disturbance on Sept. 10 at 8:21 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer was met by two females, one of them being Alonna Adkins, age and address not provided, who had a warrant. Adkins was placed into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— An officer took a call from the director of Campfire USA in Dixonville on Sept. 11 at 12:40 a.m. regarding an unknown individual who cut the lock off the side gate and stole a push mower.
— An officer conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 13 at 7:51 a.m. after clocking a vehicle traveling 49 mph on Lisbon Street in a 20-mph hour marked school zone. Brandy Yerges, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and court date for speed in a school zone.
