Police

Lisbon

— An officer was called t 8:05 p.m. Monday to the area of state Route 517 and state Route 164 for a report of a reckless driver. An officer found the vehicle parked at the BP gas station off of North Market Street and made contact with the driver, who reported mechanical issues with the vehicle.

County Sheriff

— Deputies were dispatched at 9:34 p.m. Wednesday to Washington Street, Salineville, for a suicide attempt. The person was pink slippped, or ordered taken to a hospital and transported to East Liverpool City Hospital.

— A woman on Hunters Camp Road, Center Township, requested a welfare check at 8:34 p.m. Wednesday on her daughter, who was talking to herself. Deputies spoke with the daughter, who was fine.

Highway Patrol

— Rebekah Fleishman, 17, Lisbon, was cited for assured clear distance after her vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Tommy Weikert, 73, Lisbon, at 3:47 p.m. Monday on state Route 45 in Center Township. No injuries were reported.

— Mary Alice Surgenvic, 40, Columbiana, was cited for failure to control after a one-car accident on state Route 164 in Fairfield Township at 4:49 a.m. on Wednesday. Surgenvic’s vehicle went off the road when she reportedly swerved to miss a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported.

— Morgan Mertzweiller, 17, Salem, was charged right of way when turning left when her vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Brian Weaver, 48, Negley on state Route 7 at 5:38 p.m. Sept. 22. No injuries were reported.

— Ethan Rhea, 18, was not charged after his vehicle struck a deer on U.S. Route 62 in Knox Township on Sept. 19 at 11:35 p.m. Rhea reported a headache after the crash but was not transported from the scene.

— John Scragg, 44, New Waterford, was cited for failure to control and operating a motor vehicle under the influence after his car left the roadway in Unity Township at 7:01 on Sept. 21. Scragg was transported to Mercy Health St. Elizabeth in Youngstown.

New Waterford

— Officers took a report at 9:17 p.m. from a resident on Creek Road regarding telecommunications harassment on Monday. The resident advised that comments were being made on “New Waterford Talk” Facebook group that were inappropriate but the post had been taken down.

— Officers responded at 7:04 p.m. on Tuesday to Creek Road where a female believes her neighbor is sabotaging her air conditioning unit. Officers spoke with both parties and determined that it was a civil matter.

Goshen

— Andrew Edward VanHorn, 25, Columbiana, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop at Alliance Salem and South Pricetown roads at 11:26 p.m. Sept. 27.

— Christopher T. Guildoo, 45, West California Avenue, Sebring, was arrested on a warrant out of Alliance after officers responded to a business at Fifth and Main streets in Beloit at 7:15 p.m. Sept. 26 where Sebring police reported seeing a truck that had been involved in a pursuit the previous week. Officers located Guildoo under a vehicle at the business and he was turned over to the Alliance Police Department. Further investigation by Sebring police found the truck to be stolen.

— Jamie D. Ingledue, 41, Diagonal Road, Salem, was arrested on an active warrants out of Stark County after a patrolling officer observed her walking along state Route 165 near Stratton Road at 4:40 p.m. Sept. 26 and knew her to have the warrants.

— Wayne K. Greier, 40, Washingtonville Road, Salem, was cited for failure to confine a dog after a patrolling officer nearly struck one of his dogs in the roadway at 3:46 a.m. Sept. 26. Greier had previously been warned multiple times about keeping his dogs out of the roadway.

— Officers responded to the area of Cleveland East Liverpool and South Pricetown roads at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 in which the driver of a southeastbound vehicle swerved to avoid a collision with another vehicle that crossed the center line, causing the vehicle to strike a ditch and tree, roll over and strike a pole, coming to rest on its roof. The driver suffered possible injuries.

— Tomas Juarez Tomas, 23, Salem, was cited for no valid driver’s license following a traffic stop at 1:55 a.m. Sept. 23 at Alliance Salem Road and Academy Lane.

— Denise Marie Stankewitz, 51, Berlin Center, was cited for speed following a traffic stop in the area of West Western Reserve and Lisbon roads at 11:50 a.m. Sept. 22

— An officer on patrol at 1:10 a.m. Sept. 22 nearly struck two dogs that ran out in front of the cruiser in the 11000 block of Washingtonville Road. The officer spoke with the homeowner and advised him to keep the dogs out of the roadway.

Salem

— A patrolling officer at 1:19 a.m. Friday observed a truck with trailer in a parking lot in the 900 block of West State Street. The trailer had expired plates which did not return through the LEADS database. The officer found the driver to sleeping, and when she awoke said that she was borrowing the trailer from a friend. The woman was found to have a suspended license and drug paraphernalia was located in the vehicle. The woman was given a ride to a nearby friend’s home to make arrangements to have the truck and trailer retrieved as soon as possible. Charges are pending.

— Ryan D. Armstrong, 38, Salem, was cited for open container in public after officers responded to the 500 block of East State Street at 12:10 a.m. Friday in reference to a disorderly man and found Armstrong to have an open container of alcohol. Armstrong reportedly ignored multiple warnings to pour out his drink.

— Officers responded to the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 5:47 p.m. Thursday where a caller reported someone in a red truck had used their dumpster to dump trash.

— Stephen F. Cekovich, 70, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash in the 900 block of East State Street at 4:17 p.m. Thursday in which he was westbound and failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of a vehicle driven by James A. Ballard, 76, Salem. Ballard suffered apparent minor injuries and both vehicles were driven from the scene.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Stewart Avenue at 3:41 p.m. Thursday in reference to a runaway juvenile. The juvenile was entered into the LEADS system.

— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 12:50 p.m. Thursday in reference to a suspicious item at a business. Officers took the item back to the police station to be destroyed.

— Officers spoke with a Washington Avenue resident at 11:21 a.m. Thursday who said someone was sending him messages via social media. Officers reviewed the messages and found no threats. The resident said he just wanted the situation documented.
