FIRE CALLS

Salem

— Firefighters responded to a mutual aid request for a garage fire in the 1900 block of Cider Mill Road at 8:22 p.m. Thursday. The caller advised that they had used two fire extinguishers and thought they might have it out, but there were still some hot spots smoldering. When firefighters arrived, they found a house with an attached single car garage with an open carport, with light smoking from the car port area. Firefighters found it to be burning charcoal and leaves on the ground as well as boards stored in the area that were smoldering. A water press extinguisher was used to extinguish the burning material and all affected materials were carried out of the car port area. The resident’s son advised the fire had started from leaves under a generator while it was running. The fuel to the generator was shut off and the Perry Township Fire Department took over the scene. The Winona Fire Department also responded.

Starting at $2.99/week.
