Salem

— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Lundy Avenue at 8:33 a.m. Friday for a wellness check on a woman asleep in her lawn chair. Officers spoke with the woman and observed her to be very confused and drowsy. The fire department and EMT responded, and the woman was later transported to the Salem hospital

— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 7:22 a.m. Friday for a medical call. The caller advised a woman was sleeping in the back of a car. Officers spoke with the woman who advised she was sleeping there due to her friends leaving her the night prior. Officers provided her with transport to the police department to wait for a ride, where she ultimately decided to leave on foot.

— Officers on patrol in the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:42 a.m. observed a large group of individuals outside of the bar after closing hours. Some of the people appeared to be having a verbal altercation and officers dispersed the crowd and sent them on their way.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 12:22 a.m. Friday for a report of a man requesting to speak with officers. The man advised that he was depressed and just wanted someone to talk to. Officers spoke to the man and advised him to contact officers if he started to have thoughts of self-harm.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of Benton Road at 11:39 p.m. Thursday to assist Perry Township officers with a possible overdose of a man that has been known to wake up and become combative. EMT were unable to wake the man and transported him to the emergency room without issue. Officers stood by until no longer needed.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Seventh Street at 9:07 p.m. Thursday for a 911 hangup call. Officers found the call to be an accident.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Ohio Avenue at 7:17 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check on an elderly man. The man was transported to the emergency room by EMT.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 7:21 p.m. Thursday for a report of child abuse. Officers investigated and consulted both a detective and CCCYS, finding nothing criminal to be pursued at that time. The information will be forwarded to CCCYS for investigation.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department for a report of a runaway juvenile at 7:20 p.m. Thursday. The woman advised her juvenile daughter had last been seen the day prior by friends. Officers also had the mother fill out the proper paperwork to enter the juvenile into LEADS, and she provided officers with a few possible locations for the juvenile. Officers checked a residence on Ohio Avenue, locating the juvenile and standing by until the mother could pick her up. The juvenile was found prior to being entered into LEADS.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2700 block of East State Street at 6:29 p.m. Thursday for an assault on an employee. The employee advised that a woman had entered the store and thrown pop on her, and that this has been an ongoing issue stemming from a Facebook picture and an ex-boyfriend. Officers reviewed the security feature and observed the woman in question approach the checkout and dump the beverage out on the counter and onto the employee.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of Newgarden Avenue at 6:32 p.m. Thursday for a medical call. Officers located an elderly woman that was disoriented and requested the fire department and an ambulance respond. The woman was transported for the second time that day. Officers will contact CCAPS.

— Officers took a report of an incident in the 200 block of Penn Avenue at 10:33 a.m. Thursday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised her vehicle was vandalized by a person known to her. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 8:10 a.m. Thursday for a civil matter. The caller advised that he had left property at the residence and wanted it back. Officers attempted to make contact with the homeowner but were unable to.

Leetonia

— Officers responded to the 400 block Walnut Street at 7:17 p.m. Monday for a reported child custody dispute. Officers spoke with both parties and called the on-call prosecutor for clarification. Officers told both of them the matter was civil and addressed claims of harassing comments by the mother. She also claimed that the father had made statements about kidnapping their daughter and something under his breath about her being dead. Officers advised her to send any screenshots of recordings to the officer email and provided her with witness statements to be filled out by her friends who had seen the interaction.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Columbia Street at 3:48 p.m. July 29 for a wellness check. The caller, who requested to remain anonymous, advised that a man had punched his younger sister in the face and their mother had done nothing about it. Officers spoke with the mother who advised she had witnessed the altercation occur while the two siblings were arguing. Officers spoke with the daughter who advised that her brother had punched her in the face near her mouth, and that she did not want any legal action taken against her brother. Officers spoke to the brother who advised officers of the same. Officers stressed to the brother that he could be arrested for domestic violence if his sister wanted to pursue charges.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 4:24 p.m. July 26 for a report of a juvenile potentially possessing a firearm. Officers obtained written statements from three women, two of which were juveniles, advising that a juvenile they know was bragging about carrying a pistol and wanting to kill his dope dealer for ripping him off. An investigation is underway.

New Waterford

— Officers responded to the 46000 block of Hatcher Road at 8:48 p.m. July 31 in reference to an all-terrain vehicle being operated on the roadway in a reckless manner. The officer found an adult man and his juvenile son riding an all-terrain vehicles in a field with no violations.

— Officers responded to the 46000 block of Taylor Avenue at 11:03 a.m. July 31 in reference to illegal dumping at recycling bins. Officers made contact with Tyler Starkey, 24, New Waterford, and Jerry Gawlik, 44, New Waterford, who were charged with littering.

— Officers spoke with a woman in the 4700 block of Elm Street at 11:10 a.m. July 28 regarding an unknown person who had attempted to open an unemployment claim in her name.

Highway Patrol

— Donald Naugle, 83, Malvern, was cited for assured clear distance ahead and distracted driving after his southbound vehicle on Lisbon Canfield Road when it struck a railroad overpass at 8:01 p.m. Tuesday in Salem Township. No injuries were reported.

— Charlene Schmidt, 30, Salineville, was cited for left of center after his eastbound vehicle on state Route 39 went left of center while turning onto Fife Coal Road and struck a vehicle driven south on Fife Coal Road by Silas Black, 19, Wellsville at 3:17 p.m. Tuesday in Yellow Creek Township. No injuries were reported.

— Joshua Ochsenbine, 32, Minerva, was cited for failure to control and OVI, after his eastbound vehicle on U.S. Route 30 went off the left side of the roadway though an area of thick brush and struck an embankment at 11:34 p.m. Sunday in West Township. No injuries were reported.

— Adam Olzak, 26, Salineville, was cited for failure to control after his northbound vehicle on state Route 7 went off the left side of the roadway down an embankment and struck a tree at 6:20 p.m. Sunday in Elkrun Township.

— Dutch Morris, 33, Wellsville, was cited for OVI driving under suspension and no motorcycle endorsement after his westbound vehicle on state Route 154 went off the left side of the roadway, striking a sign, a guide wire and a utility pole at 1:54 a.m. July 29 in Rogers Township. Morris was transported to Saint Elizabeth Mercy Hospital by New Waterford EMS for suspected serious injuries.

— Zachery Harden, 19, Lisbon, was cited for failure to control after his northbound vehicle on state Route 45 went off the right side of the roadway striking a ditch and a tree before overturning at 9:07 p.m. in Salem Township. No injuries were reported.

— James Ketchum III, 31, Salineville, was cited for OVI and a seatbelt violation after his northbound vehicle on Steubenville Pike Road went off the right side of the roadway, striking a ditch, a traffic sign and an embankment before rolling over and coming to a final rest on its roof at 4:29 p.m. July 28 in Wayne Township. Ketchum was transported to East Liverpool hospital by West Point EMS for suspected minor injuries.

— Sudhir Shah, 74, Highstown, New Jersey, was cited for failure to yield after his westbound vehicle on state Route 39 failed to yield from a stop sign and struck a vehicle driven east by Pachience Smith, 20, Salineville, at 2:39 p.m. July 28 in Washington Township. Smith was transported to East Liverpool hospital by a family member for suspected minor injuries.

— Danny Shultz, 56, Salem, was cited for OVI and failure to control after his eastbound vehicle on state Route 172 went off the left side of the roadway, struck a utility pole, overturned, struck a traffic signpost, overturned back onto the roadway and ejected the driver and passenger at 2:31 p.m. July 27 in Center Township. Shultz was transported to Mercy Health Youngstown by STAT MedEvac for suspected minor injuries and his passenger, Danny J. Shultz, 26, Salem, was transported to Mercy Health Youngstown by Hanover Township EMS for suspected minor injuries.

— Cody Faulk, 17, Enon Valley, Pennsylvania, was cited for left of center after his eastbound vehicle on state Route 558 struck a vehicle driven westbound by Taylor Jarret, 24, Salem, at 12:27 p.m. July 27 in Unity Township. Faulk refused treatment on scene for possible injuries.

— Taylor Horst,18, New Waterford, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his northwestbound vehicle on old state Route 558 struck the rear of an unknown gray pick-up truck which left the scene at 10:01 a.m. July 26 in Salem Township. No injuries were reported.

— Nicholas Wolfe, 43, Lisbon, was cited for failure to control after his eastbound vehicle on state Route 558 went off the right side of the roadway and over an embankment at 6:46 a.m. July 26 in Salem Township. No injuries were reported.

— Kenneth Biggs, 21, Canton, Pennsylvania, was cited for failure to yield after his westbound vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and stuck a vehicle driven northbound on 12th Street by Malissa Smith, 64, Homeworth at 8:18 p.m. July 25 in Knox Township. Smith was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by Sebring EMS for suspected minor injuries, Smith’s passenger Vincent Sainor, 20, Alliance, transported to Aultman Hospital by Sebring EMS for suspected minor injuries.

Sheriff’s Office

— Deputies at 10:14 p.m. Thursday assisted the Columbiana County Fair Police and Lisbon Police with a fight at the county fairgrounds on Lee Avenue, Lisbon.

— Deputies were called at 10:12 p.m. Wednesday to Sunset Drive, Yellow Creek Township, for a vehicle fire. Wellsville and Highlandtown fire departments responded. The fire is under investigation.

— A resident of state Route 45, Salem Township, reported at 8:51 p.m. Wednesday that his credit card was stolen from a residence on East Third Street, Salem. He was advised to contact the Salem Police Department.

— A welfare check was requested on Rose Drive, Lisbon, Center Township at 4:09 p.m. Wednesday. While enroute, dispatch advised an ambulance was enroute for the person. North Star EMS transported the person to Salem hospital.
