Salem
— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 5:36 a.m. Friday for a report of a suspicious person sitting on a bench. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the person in question.
— Officers assisted highway patrol with a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 3:15 a.m. Friday. Officers stood by until no longer needed.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 11:15 p.m. Thursday for a report of trespassing. The caller advised that neighbors have come onto his property multiple times without permission to retrieve a loose dog, and the caller wanted officers to advise them to ask permission before entering the property if the dog gets loose again. Officers made contact with the person and advised them of the neighbor’s request and of the dog at large ordinance.
— Officers on patrol in the 1000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue at 10:32 p.m. Thursday observed an open garage door on a business. Officers checked the interior which appeared to be secure and a keyholder was contacted to secure the door.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of North Madison Avenue at 10:06 p.m. Thursday for an open burning complaint. Officers spoke with the person in question and observed the fire to be legal.
— Officers responded to the area of South Broadway Avenue and Aetna Street at 8:42 p.m. Thursday to assist Perry Township officers with a traffic stop. Officers stood by until no longer needed.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:39 p.m. Thursday for a report of a loose dog. Officers spoke with the dog’s owner and advised them of the dog’s location, and to go and retrieve it.
— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 7:36 p.m. Thursday for a report of a company contacting her for information about her credit cards. Officers advised her that it was a scam and not to provide any information.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue at 7:19 p.m. Thursday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that a woman she knew was driving past her home and yelling profanities. Officers made contact with the woman and advised her to leave the caller alone.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 4:24 p.m. Thursday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with taking a woman into custody. Officers transported the woman to the police department for processing and transported them to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 2:50 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check. Officers made contact with the person who advised they were fine.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Salem Parkway at 1:32 p.m. Thursday for a report of four pizza shops in the city sending pizza to their residence that they did not order. Officers made contact with the businesses who advised the same unknown man had called in and ordered multiple pizzas and had them delivered to the caller.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Washington Avenue at 9:41 a.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers observed a vehicle with the registration coming back to another vehicle, running and parked on the roadway. Officers spoke with the driver, Dwayne Salisbury, 50, who advised that he had driven into the city to pick up a family friend. Officers asked Salisbury for his driver’s license, and he gave a non-driver identification card. Officers asked Salisbury about the plates not matching and he advised that he had lost the original plates and just put his friend’s plates on the car to go pick up the friend. Officers advised him that he was suspended and shouldn’t be driving a vehicle. Officers cited Salisbury for driving under suspension, and fictitious plates, and the vehicle was towed by Kaiser Towing.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Union Avenue at 2:08 p.m. Wednesday for a reported 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with the homeowner who advised everything was fine.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 1:01 p.m. Wednesday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. A man, whose name was not listed, was taken into custody and transported to the police department for further investigation. A total of $155 in cash was seized as evidence, and the man was later released with charges pending.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Ohio Avenue at 11:58 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a possible runaway juvenile. The caller advised that her son went to a friend’s residence, and then went with the friend to another city, possibly in Trumbull County, without permission. The juvenile was confirmed to be at another friend’s residence in Trumbull County and would be returning home later that day. Officers will follow up with the mother later in the day and enter the juvenile into LEADS as a runaway if they have not returned home.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Fair Avenue at 11:58 a.m. Wednesday for a parking complaint. Officers observed the vehicle and found no parking violations.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of Franklin Avenue at 10:28 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers checked on and spoke with the man who advised he was fine.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of West Pershing Street at 5:27 p.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer complaint. The caller advised an unknown man had walked up to him while he was sitting in his car and told him to pay his rent to his father or he would be out of the apartment, and that they felt threatened by the unknown man. Officers made contact with the property owner and advised him not to send his son to the property to threaten the caller. The landlord claimed the caller hasn’t returned his calls for late payments and he sent his son over to make contact with the tenant to get the rent money. The landlord said he wouldn’t send his son over anymore.
East Palestine
— An officer at 11:58 a.m. Thursday spoke with management from a local business in the 100 block of Rebecca Street regarding two people to be criminally trespassed from the property.
— Officers responded to the first block of Lincoln Avenue at 7:33 p.m. Wednesday where a resident reported a package had been mistakenly delivered to her neighbors and they denied any knowledge of the package’s whereabouts. Through an investigation officers charged the neighbors Joseph Best, 41, with theft and obstructing official business, both misdemeanors; and Jessica Jimenez, 43, misdemeanor theft after the package, which had been opened, was located in trash can. Jimenez was found to also have a warrant for arrest for theft out of Springfield Township. Custody of Jimenez was transferred to the Springfield Township Police Department.
— Officers spoke with a 100 block South Walnut Street resident at 2:48 p.m. Wednesday regarding telecommunications harassment.
— A Park Avenue resident reported at 10:34 a.m. July 11 being threatened by someone she knows.
— Officers spoke with a 200 block East Clark Street resident at 8:44 p.m. July regarding telecommunications harassment involving the resident’s Facebook account being hacked.
— Joseph Altenburg, no age or address listed, was taken into custody in the 1800 block of state Route 165 at 2:47 p.m. July 11 on active felony warrants for domestic violence.
— Officers responded to the area Kemple Drive and West Main Street at 7:27 p.m. July 10 in reference to a road rage incident which resulted tin threats of physical harm. The matter is under investigation.
Liverpool Township
– An officer was dispatched on June 28 at 3:59 to the 2200 block of Lisbon Street for a report of a fight. After the officer observed a knot on the victim’s head along with a bruise under his eye and a bloody lip, he took a victim’s statement and arrested Aaron Francis, age and address not provided, who was issued a court date for charges of disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.
– After conducting a traffic stop on state Route 7 on June 29 at 10:34 p.m. on a vehicle clocked by an officer going 74 mph in a 55 mph zone, the officer issued to citations to the driver, identified as Angela Robinson, age and address not provided, for driving with both expired plates and an expired license for which she was also issued a court date. The officer gave her a verbal warning for the speed offense.
– On June 29 at 11:15 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle on state Route 7 with a loud exhaust and no working taillight that was speeding at 84 mph in a 55 mph zone. The driver, identified as Travis Fergson, age and address not provided, was issued a court date and citations for speed, driving with no motorcycle endorsement and expired plates. The motorcycle was loaded into a pickup for Ferguson to take home.
– On June 30 at 12:14 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic on state Route 7 for a vehicle which was originally clocked at 57 mph but accelerated to 68 mph in a 55-mph zone. The officer issued Justin Sprout, no age or address listed, a citation for speed and released him with a court date.
– On June 30 at 11:24 p.m., an officer clocked a vehicle going 78 mph on state Route 7 in a 55 mph zone. The officer released the driver, Cassidey Wiley, age and address not provided, with a court date and cited her for speed.
– An officer conducted a traffic stop on Boring Lane on July 1 at 5:08 p.m., for a car clocked at speeds of 42 mph in a 25 mph zone. The driver, Brandon Middlebrook, age and address not provided, was cited for speed and released with a court date.
East Liverpool
– On June 13 at 1:27 p.m. officers spoke to a mother at her residence in the 200 block of Wilbert Avenue in reference to her son coming home the night before past his curfew. The son was told he was not to leave the apartment for the next few days but failed to listen and left without permission. The mother told the officer she would like to have the incident documented for his probation officer.
– On June 13 at 2:58 p.m. officers responded to the 500 block of Sugar Street for a report of a female squatter inside an abandoned house. Two people were found in the house and were removed and told they could not be there.
– An officer spoke to a female at the station on June 13 at 12:16 p.m. about fraud. No additional information was provided.
– On June 13 at 9:18 p.m. dispatch received a call of a female possibly doing drugs in the area of Green Lane and E. 8thStreet. The caller believed the female to be passed out. Officers responded and made contact with the female who was alert and said she did not need any assistance and gathered her belongings and left the area.
– Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of East 6thStreet after receiving a report from a property owner of a male entering one of his properties. The owner said that the male entered the commons area and used the electric to charge a phone and he was also wearing a knife in plain view. The officer said when he located the male, he would be advised to stay off the property.
– On June 13 at 9:31 p.m., dispatch received a call about juveniles in an abandoned building on Ambrose Avenue. Officers searched the building but had no contact with anyone.
– On June 13 at 1:29 p.m., officers spoke to a female at her Wilbert Avenue residence regarding her being assaulted on a previous date. The female said she wanted to pursue charges against the male and obtain a protection order. The officer said that the report would be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
– Officers took a report on June 13 at 9:48 p.m. from a female who said boys threw a can of pop at her daughter-in-law’s car as she was driving down Dresden Avenue. No damage was done to the vehicle.
– On June 13 at 8:22 p.m. dispatch received a call reporting juveniles in an abandoned building on Ambrose Avenue. Officers spoke with the caller who said he believed approximately eight boys between 12 to 14 years of age entered the building. Officers, when checking the building, which has multiple access points, heard voices but never found anyone inside the building. While checking outside the building two boys approached the officers and said they were in the building. Officers advised the boys their actions could result in criminal charges and to stay away from the property.
– Officers responded to the Potters Club on June 13 at 3:40 p.m. for a request to move a female from the premises who was reported to be harassing customers. Officers located the female about half a block away on Sixth Street and advised her of the complaint and told her not to return there.
– Officers responded on June 13 at 10:46 a.m. to T-Mobile on Walnut Street for a female to be removed from the business.
– On June 13 at 4:55 p.m., a male came to the police station to report a theft. He said he left his cell phone sitting on a wall across from City Hall and walked away. When he came back it was missing. He believes a homeless person with mental issues has the phone. Officers told him they would attempt to locate and recover the phone.
– Officers were dispatched on June 13 at 3:31 p.m. to the 200 block of Moore Street to check on a report of individuals entering a condemned house. Officers spoke with two people who are family members of the property owners and were there attempting to clean the property.
