County Sheriff
— Deputies were dispatched at 9:08 p.m. Saturday to Jefferson Street, Salineville, for a disturbance. The homeowner said everything was fine.
— A medical was reported at 5:03 p.m. Saturday on Carter Road, Fairfield Township, but deputies learned there was no medical issue and the person involved was leaving for their residence in Trumbull County.
— A woman on Spillway Road, Hanover Township, reported at 1:15 p.m. Saturday that she’s legally blind and counts on her neighbors to help with her day-to-day tasks. She checked her bank account balance over the phone and discovered it was $168 instead of the $1,000 that should have been there.
— A caller at 12:33 p.m. Saturday reported he parked a trailer he was trying to sell on his neighbor’s property on Teegarden Road, Hanover Township, and the neighbor blocked the trailer in and wouldn’t allow him to move the trailer. The caller later reported they were able to resolve the issue and the neighbor allowed him to move the trailer.
— A suspicious person was reported at 8:46 a.m. Saturday on Madison Drive, Fairfield Township, where the caller reported the person drove onto the property and asked if they had a daughter. He kept picking up objects on the ground that were not there and cradling them. He left before a deputy arrived. Columbiana police were out with the person at the Sparkle parking lot and were pink-slipping him, meaning he was being taken to a hospital at their order.
— A possible assault was reported at 2:31 a.m. Saturday on Middleton Road, Fairfield Township. Deputies spoke to all involved, but no one wanted to file charges.
— A woman on Pine Hollow Road, Elkrun Township, reported at 4:05 p.m. Friday that someone used her identity to start an unemployment account and open up a bank account.
— A deputy was dispatched at 1:35 p.m. Friday to Echo Dell Road, Middleton Township, for one to be removed, then spoke to a man on the premises and to a woman who was on FaceTime. She said the man was there to get his belongings and there was no problem.
— Deputies were requested at 3:40 p.m. Thursday to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol in searching for a vehicle that possibly had a body in the back of the pickup truck. After a short investigation, the driver of the truck was located and it was determined the “body” was not real and was a dummy used by an electric department to showcase the hazards of live power lines.
— A runaway juvenile was reported at 7:59 p.m. July 5 on Holmeswood Drive. The juvenile was located at the intersection of Whinnery Road and Winona Road. A deputy took him back to the residence and was told by the caller and foster parent that the juvenile was no longer welcome. A case worker was notified and said he will be picked up. The deputy stood by with the juvenile until the case worker arrived.
— A woman reported at 8:48 p.m. July 4 that her juvenile son had been outside in the back yard digging up tree stumps and when she got up after a nap at 5 p.m., he was no longer there. He was located and returned to home safely.
— A deputy was dispatched at 11:53 p.m. July 3 to Butcher Road, Salem Township, for a woman having a mental health crisis. She was transported to a local facility for treatment.
Lisbon
— During a traffic stop at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, an officer charged Amanda Schmelick, 37, Bolivar Road, Wellsville, with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and marked lanes.
— Police responded to a disabled vehicle blocking the gate at Carter Lumber on East Lincoln Way at 6:47 a.m. Thursday. The owner was contacted and told that the vehicle was being towed because it was parked a foot into the roadway and traffic had to go around at the intersection. The owner said the vehicle had broken down while he was on his way to work.
— A man at Applegrove Apartments, Saltwell Road, reported at 6:23 p.m. July 5 that he smells meth when he smokes his cigarettes. He was told he should stop smoking and if he does smoke, he should do it outside. Officers told him they did not smell meth.
— A civil matter was reported at 9:29 a.m. July 5 at the Lisbon Days Inn on state Route 154. One man was trespassed from the property.
— A driver received a warning for an equipment violation and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 1:43 a.m. July 5. An officer could see drug paraphernalia in plain view in the backseat floorboard area. The officer and K-9 Otis conducted an open air sniff and there was a positive alert for narcotics. During a probable cause search, marijuana and THC oil paraphernalia were located. All illegal contraband was seized.
— A child in a diaper was reported wandering the street alone on McKinley Street at 9:45 p.m. July 4. Officers spoke to the mother and she said the baby was safe in the house.
— Police were called at 10:46 a.m. July 4 to the Lisbon Dog Park for juveniles playing on park equipment. Officers saw the juveniles, but they weren’t on any equipment. They were told not play on the equipment.
— Police noted an open door on the Heritage Feed Mill at 3:55 a.m. July 4, searched the building and found no signs of vandalism or tampering before closing the door.
— During a traffic stop for an equipment violation at 2:54 a.m. July 4 on state Route 164, K-9 Otis was deployed and gave a positive alert for narcotics. Items suspected to be narcotics were taken to a search of the vehicle.
— A loose chicken was reported in the 500 block of East Lincoln Way at 7:46 p.m. July 3. The caller was told to contact the Humane Society for assistance.
