— Officers on patrol at 1:09 a.m. June 30 observed a vehicle going the wrong way down a one-way road on Main Street, with another vehicle following behind. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle as it arrived at a residence in the 200 block of High Street. A man, Daoud Abbadi, 26, Youngstown, got out of the second vehicle and stood by the first vehicle’s drivers side door in the driveway. Officers advised him to stand in front of the car and advised the first vehicle’s driver, Allison Heverly, 23, Leetonia, why they pulled her over. Officers identified both, finding Abbadi had a warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office, taking Abbadi into custody and issuing a warning for Heverly. Abbadi was very polite and respectful during the arrest process at the police department and while transporting him to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the Shell gas station at 4:10 p.m. June 27 for a report of a blind dog. The caller was holding the dog and advised that she was worried about the dog being hit due to its blindness. Officers contacted the humane agent who responded and picked up the dog.

— Officers on patrol on Elm Street at 2:06 a.m. June 27 observed two male juveniles in Wick Park after hours, speaking with and identifying them. The juveniles advised they had just been talking at the gazebo, and officers advised them of park hours and that they were in violation of curfew. The juveniles were polite and respectful, and no damage nor vandalism was found at the park, and officers transported them to their homes. Officers advised their parents of the curfew law and that they couldn’t be in the park after close.

— Officers on patrol on state Route 344 at 12:41 a.m. June 27 observed a female juvenile walking near Walter Street and asked her if she was okay, and what her name was. She advised officers she was out for a walk and identified herself and her parents. Officers transported the juvenile to her mother’s house, and were met by the juvenile’s grandfather, and advised that the mother was not present. Officers advised him the juvenile couldn’t be out after curfew, and he advised he understood. Officers had dispatch check the mother, Megan Detchon, 34, for any active warrants, and they found an active warrant out of Boardman. Officers checked around the house and didn’t see any signs of her on the premises and stayed outside and looked around for a time to see if she would turn up, but she did not.

Goshen

— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on West South Range Road at 10:42 p.m. June 29. The driver was identified as Jentry Ross, 32, Alliance, and found to have a warrant out of the Canton Police Department for assault, with multiple violent priors including conspiracy to commit murder. Jentry was ordered out of the vehicle and placed under arrest for the warrant and transported to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office to transfer custody to Canton police. Jentry was also cited for failure to dim and driving without a license.

— Abigaill Vaughn, 25, Girard, was cited for driving under suspension after a random registration check on her vehicle on Western Reserve Road showed the owner to be suspended at 7:40 p.m. June 29.

— Luis Garcia, 31, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension, stemming from a traffic stop after his vehicle was observed not to make a complete stop before turning right at a red light on Youngstown Salem Road at 7:40 p.m. June 28.

— Kassondra Peterson, 36, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension after a random registration check on her vehicle on Alliance Salem Road showed the owner to be suspended at 3:35 p.m. June 28.

— Natsuko Merrick, 51, East Rochester, was cited for speeding after her northbound vehicle on Main Street was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 7:10 a.m. June 27.

— Marian Brady, 36, Canton, was cited for driving under suspension after a random registration check on her vehicle on Alliance Salem Road showed the owner to be suspended at 12:10 a.m. June 27.

Salem

— Officers assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with a sex offense arrest in the 100 block of West State Street at 4:31 p.m. Saturday, with $160 seized as evidence.

— Police were flagged down in the 1100 block of East State Street at 4:11 p.m. Saturday by a woman who reported someone had entered her unlocked vehicle since 3:15 p.m. that day and stole her purse. Police will review surveillance video of the area.

— Nicholas J. Bellomo, no age or address listed, was cited for an unspecified violation following a two-vehicle crash in the 2500 block of East State Street at 12:22 p.m. Saturday in which he was eastbound and failed to stop for slowing traffic, striking the rear of another vehicle driven by Kim Saling, no age or address listed. No injuries were reported.

— Police spoke with a caller in the 200 block of Lexington Avenue at 8:47 a.m. Saturday who said his ex-landlord had dumped trash and belongings behind his home. Police contacted the ex-landlord who said the caller had left property at his previous residence and that what had been dropped off was only part of the belongings left behind. Police responded to the previous residence and observed additional property that had been left behind. The caller was advised to retrieve the belongings by July 10 or it would be thrown away.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 4:54 a.m. Saturday in reference to items taken from the front porch.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:53 a.m. Saturday where an extremely intoxicated caller requested officers transport to a rehab facility out of the area. The caller was given a ride home and advised to make arrangements for rehab in the morning.

— A Maple Street resident reported at 12:23 a.m. Saturday receiving several unwanted phone calls from a woman he knows. The woman was contacted and advised to cease contact with the complainant.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 10:14 p.m. Friday where a woman reported people were harassing her and her boyfriend prior to leaving the area. The woman wanted a report on file.

— Officers responded to the area of East State Street and South Union Avenue at 7:11 p.m. Friday in reference to a reckless driver traveling all over the roadway with children bouncing around throughout the vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle in question for a traffic violation. The driver stated her son had taken off his seatbelt and was making it hard for her to drive. She was advised of the complaint and given a warning for marked lanes.

— An officer responded to the 200 block of West Seventh Street at 3:34 p.m. Friday where a resident reported a verbal altercation with an ex-boyfriend and wanted a report on file.

— Police spoke with a woman at 3:26 p.m. Friday who reported she had given her check book to her ex-boyfriend and that several fraudulent purchases had been made on her bank account. She said she closed the account and did not wish to pursue charges at this time.

— An officer responded to the 700 block of Sunset Boulevard at 2:06 p.m. Friday in reference to a suspicious vehicle driven into the woods on the walking path at Waterworth Memorial Park. The officer observed the vehicle in question on the path and several juveniles running around. The driver said she did not know she was not allowed to drive on the path. She also did not have a driver’s license and was cited for driving without a license. The vehicle was parked until the owner could come to retrieve it.

— Police at 1:34 p.m. Friday spoke with a woman on station about a man owing her money. She was advised it was a civil matter.

— An officer responded to the 1200 block of Quaker Circle at 12:34 p.m. Friday in reference to a container with a hose attached to it that had been thrown or dropped from a black Chevy car driving through the area. The officer found the container in the grass along the street and determined it to be lawn and garden container with a hand sprayer attached. The container had a small amount of pesticide in it.

— An employee of a South Broadway Avenue business reported at 12:28 p.m. Friday receiving an email invoice requesting $9,999 for a marketing research purchase that was never ordered and wanted a report on file.

— An officer responded with the fire department to the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 9:13 a.m. Friday to assist with a smoke investigation. No immediate traffic control was needed and firefighters determined the source of the smoke. All emergency personnel cleared a short time later.

— An officer at 8:26 a.m. Friday was made aware of vulgar graffiti spraypainted on a sidewalk in the 500 block of Prospect Street. An area resident had attempted to cover the graffiti but the vulgar term was still visible. The traffic and safety office was notified of the issue.

— Police responded to the 100 block of Vine Avenue at 7:07 a.m. Friday where a resident reported he had applied for loans online and he believed a scam company had obtained his information and was trying to scam him. The resident said he had not lost any money and had blocked the suspect number, but wanted a report on file.
