Salem

— Firefighters responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Perry Street at 9:06 p.m. July 6 for a report of a woman stuck in her reclining chair unable to sit up. Firefighters found the resident in her mobility chair in a reclined position and were able to help her reset her chair into an upright position.

— Firefighters assisted a woman with a stuck ring at the fire department at 8 p.m. July 5. Officers attempted other methods of removal unsuccessfully before cutting the ring off with the department’s ring cutter.

— Firefighters received a report of a tree in the process of falling on a house in the 100 block of Park Drive at 4:47 p.m. July 5. When firefighters arrived, a large tree was leaning on some smaller trees and caused a limb from the smaller tree to fall on the roof of a house of an adjacent property. The owner of the house had concerns for her safety. The neighbor who could possibly be the landowner or partial owner if the tree was on the property line arrived and there was a discussion of the tree’s removal to prevent potential property damage or personal injury in the event the tree fell on the house. The potential tree owner claimed that his insurance agent advised him to wait on the tree to fall on the neighbor’s house and then it would be her insurance claim that would pay for the tree cleanup and left the scene. While firefighters were still on scene the tree fell onto the house causing additional damage. The area was secured with caution tape and the city building official advised the tenant could not reside in the house until the tree was removed and the structure properly instructed.
