-- Deputies were dispatched at 12:45 a.m. Monday to a residence on McDonald Road, Lisbon in reference to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The person was transported to a hospital by West Point EMS. No other information about the person's condition was available.
-- Deputies responded at 7:47 a.m. Sunday to state Route 14 in Unity Township for a report of a suspicious female in the woods calling for help. The caller showed deputies where she saw the female in the woods, but when they checked the woods and surrounding area, they made no contact with a female and saw nothing out of the ordinary.
-- Possible vandalism was reported at 8:15 a.m. Sunday on Alderlick Road in Wayne Township where a woman said she saw motor oil over the back of her tractor. She did not see anyone and there didn't appear to be any signs of forced entry. She had already cleaned up the oil when a deputy arrived.
-- A deputy was dispatched to Lisbon Road in Center Township for a motorcycle accident at 2:56 p.m. Saturday with a male on the ground, not moving. Upon arrival, the deputy found him sitting upright, but with severe road rash and multiple other injuries. The man was transported to a hospital by helicopter. No other information was available.
Columbiana
-- Officers responded at 5:28 p.m. June 4 to Prestwick Court for a neighbor dispute. A report was taken.
-- Officers took a report at 5:47 p.m. on June 4 of suspicious activity at Save-A-Lot.
-- Nicholas Reed, no age given, East Palestine, was cited for driving under suspension at 6:26 p.m. on June 6 following a traffic stop on state Route 14.
-- Police responded to Prestwick Court at 7:32 a.m. on Thursday to a report of possible damage to an air conditioning unit.
-- Graig Dexter Gordon, 51, Youngstown, was arrested at 2:45 p.m. Thursday for an active warrant out of Youngstown following a traffic stop on North Main Street.
-- Officers took a report for missing topsoil at 9:03 p.m. on Thursday on County Line Road.
-- Multiple calls were received on Friday of a train derailment near East Friend Street at 11:44 p.m.
-- A female on station at 8:52 p.m. reported a private property crash at North Main Street on Friday.
-- Ryan Rygiel, 49, New Waterford, was arrested at 9:37 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing official business after a caller reported he was walking in the roadway on state Route 14 near Columbiana Dodge on Friday. Rygiel was arrested after he refused to identify himself to officers.
-- Dominique Powell, 46, Salem, was arrested and charged with OVI following a traffic stop on state Route 14 at 11:44 p.m. on Friday.
-- Dawn Andrews, 45, of Rogers, was arrested and charged with OVI, OVI refusal, obstructing official business and resisting arrest following a traffic stop on State Route 14 near Homestead Drive at 9 p.m. on Saturday. Andrews was pulled over and refused to exit her vehicle when ordered to do so by officers. Also during the stop, Jason Andrews, 45, Rogers, was arrested and charged with obstructing official business. He also refused to exit the vehicle when ordered to do so and continued to obstruct during the field sobriety investigation. Both were transported to the Columbiana County jail without any further incident.
-- Brandon M Tackett, 32, Akron, was cited for driving under suspension at 11:55 p.m. on Saturday following a traffic stop in the Premier Bank parking lot.
Leetonia
-- Officers responded to state Route 344 near Commerce Street at 3:13 p.m. June 7 for a report of a man on the side of the road having chest pains. Officers located the man sitting on a concrete pillar who seemed to be in distress and was moved to the inside rear of the cruiser to cool down in the air conditioning. The man had been walking from Columbiana to Salem. Leetonia Fire and EMS responded to treat the patient.
-- Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 12:30 p.m. June 7 who advised that while walking the Coke Ovens trail, she found a suspicious device like a pipe bomb. Officers located a gray cylindrical device that did resemble a pipe bomb. The area was secured by officers and the chief contacted the Youngstown Police Department Bomb Squad, who photographed and examined the device, determining it to be a possible movie prop and of no harm. The item was secured by officers and the area was re-opened to the public.
-- Officers responded to a business in the 300 block of Walnut Street at 6:16 p.m. June 6 for a report of a verbal altercation between an employee and her estranged father that she did not want to see. When officers arrived, an employee informed them the father had already left.
-- Officers responded to the 100 block of Main Street at 1:04 P.m. June 6 for a 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with a homeowner who advised they were fine and did not call 911. Officers confirmed the call had pinged in the area and contacted the neighbor who advised he was resetting his phone and accidentally called 911. He advised everything was fine and apologized for his actions.
Salem
-- Officers responded with the fire department to the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue at 10:44 a.m. Monday for a report of an ambulance needed. The person was evaluated and transported by EMT.
-- Officers responded to the 300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:50 a.m. Monday for a report of theft. The caller advised that at approximately 4:54 a.m. Monday an unknown person had come onto her front porch and took a bag of clothes. There was video footage of the incident, but officers were unable to see the person's face.
-- Officers observed a suspicious vehicle turn into the Salem Chrysler Dealership off of North Ellsworth Avenue at 12:38 a.m. Monday. When officers entered the lot, the vehicle exited south on Ellsworth, and officers observed the vehicle turn into the community center and strike a tree. The driver, a female juvenile whose name was not listed, was located in a bush. The juvenile was transported to Akron Children's Hospital for treatment, with charges pending.
-- Officers responded to the 2900 block of East State Street at 8:50 p.m. Sunday to speak with a person who reportedly was not acting right and made alarming statements while in public. Officers spoke with the man and found the matter to be a misunderstanding.
-- Officers responded to the area of South Ellsworth Avenue and Aetna Street at 7:31 p.m. Sunday for a report of a utility line with a small fire near the power lines at the top of the pole. Officers assisted with traffic control until an employee of Ohio Edison arrived to monitor the pole. The employee advised that the roadway could remain open until his trucks could arrive to replace the pole.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of West Seventh Street at 6:44 p.m. Sunday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that his neighbor was posting on Facebook about him stealing her cat. While taking the report officers observed the cat in question sitting on the person's front porch. Officers spoke with the person's mother and advised her to have her daughter stop posting the messages.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Ash Street at 6:21 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. The caller advised officers that a woman was having a possible medical emergency. Officers checked the woman but found her to be okay.
-- Officers responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 3:18 p.m. Sunday for a report of loud music. Officers spoke with a man who admitted to having the music playing loudly, apologizing and advising he would keep the music down.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of South Madison Avenue at 2:11 p.m. Sunday for a reported 911 hang up call. Officers spoke with people working in the yard and the call was determined to be an accidental pocket dial.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 9:14 a.m. Sunday for a report of a possible scam. The caller advised they had received a Facebook messenger text from a man claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House, stating they won $100,000 but needed to pay a fee to receive the money. The caller did send money to the man via a VISA gift card. The matter is under investigation.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of East Fifth Street at 8:23 a.m. Sunday for a report of a verbal dispute. Officers spoke with the involved parties who were only having an argument. The male half advised he was moving out of the residence and wanted the relationship to be over. The female half wanted him to take his stuff and leave. The man was waiting for a friend with a truck to get his belongings. Officers advise both parties to stay away from each other during the moving process.
-- Officers responded to the 1500 block of Southeast Boulevard at 3:28 a.m. Sunday for a report of suspicious objects in the area. Officers checked the area but found nobody present.
-- Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:38 a.m. Sunday for a report of a fight between multiple people. Officers were unable to locate any of the people involved when they arrived, and none of the parties involved contacted officers to file a report.
-- Officers responded to a residence int the 900 block of Adams Avenue at 2:16 a.m. Sunday for a report of two people attempting to enter the caller's residence. The caller advised they had been woken up by someone trying to get in their back door and surveillance videos showed two individuals at the back of the house on the deck, with one trying to open the rear door to the residence before fleeing Southeast. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate them. A copy of the video will be obtained to attempt to identify the individuals.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 1:19 a.m. Sunday for an unknown problem. The caller advised that he had been assaulted by an unknown man in the Butech Bliss parking lot after leaving The Foundry. The caller advised that the person called him some names, then tackled him to the ground. No injuries were observed on the call and he refused medical attention. He was advised to respond to the police department to give a statement at a later date due to his intoxication so the matter could be investigated properly. The man was provided with a ride to his home.
-- Officers responded to the 1300 block of Garfield Avenue at 11:59 p.m. Saturday to assist Perry Township with a report of a disorderly man. When officers arrived, the man was already detained and they were no longer needed.
-- Officers responded to the 800 block of Jefferson Avenue at 11:36 p.m. Saturday for a report of a dispute. Officers only spoke with one of the parties due to the other leaving before they arrived. Officers collected all relevant information.
-- Officers spoke with a woman in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 11:16 p.m. Saturday about ongoing harassment from her ex-boyfriend. The caller advised the ex, and his friends circled their vehicle in the parking lot and threatened her current boyfriend. The caller advised they had already left the area and just wanted a report filed.
-- Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 10:41 p.m. Saturday for a report of email harassment from a family member. The woman advised that she had blocked their phone number but was now receiving harassing emails from the family member over personal family issues. She was advised a report would be on file and to report any future occurrences for possible charges.
