County Sheriff

— A deputy was dispatched at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday to the intersection of Third Street and Smith Road in Summitville regarding a pickup sitting at the intersection for a long period of time. It was unknown if the vehicle was occupied or running. The vehicle was not found.

— A property owner on Butler Grange Road, Butler Township reported at 8 p.m. Saturday that a vehicle pulled into his driveway, then pulled out and went to the neighbor’s residence. The neighbor was contacted and told about the complaint.

— Deputies assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol at 7:46 p.m. Friday with an accident at state Route 172 at Depot Road in Hanover Township.

— A welfare check was requested at 5:36 p.m. Friday on Metz Road, Fairfield Township. A neighbor said the person moved to Lisbon.

— A man on state Route 45, Madison Township reported at 4:30 p.m. Friday that money was missing from inside his residence.

— An open 911 line was reported at 12:45 p.m. April 20 at a residence on Churchill Road, Elkrun Township, but the property owner said he was fine.

— Deputies who went to serve court papers at a Hammond School Road property in Madison Township at 8:57 a.m. April 18 served the person in question, then saw an unknown male run out the back door. The unknown male was stopped while walking on the road, he was identified and taken into custody on a warrant out of Juvenile Court. He was taken to the county jail.

— A welfare check was requested at a residence on state Route 7, Rogers at 11:12 a.m. April 17. The man said he needed help but did not want to go to the hospital in an ambulance. Arrangements were made with East Liverpool City Hospital and he was transported to the hospital by police for evaluation.

Wellsville

— Officers were dispatched on April 21 at 8:28 p.m. to Clover Alley for a report of a reckless driver speeding and spinning tires. The vehicle was described as a blue Honda Civic with a temp tag starting with the letter Q. Officers made a traffic stop on Clover Alley on a blue Honda Civic with a temp tag. The driver had just parked the vehicle in his driveway when the officers turned on the overhead lights and advised the driver to stop. The driver identified as Ronald Mann, age and address not given, said yes when asked by the officer if he was the one driving the blue Honda Civic and added that he did nothing wrong. Officers noted an odor of alcohol and asked Mann if he had been drinking. Mann admitted to having had a beer and that he probably shouldn’t have been driving. Mann was cited for physical control.

— Officers were dispatched to a car accident at Dollar General on April 22 at 3:11 p.m. Both parties involved in the accident stated the same thing — that one driver started backing out of his parking spot with the other driver already backing out of his which resulted in small scratches and dents. The officer took photos of the damage to the vehicles and filed a report.

— Officers were dispatched on April 23 at 4:15 p.m. to 1424 Commerce St. for a domestic call from a female. When officers asked her if the male was still in the residence, the female said no, he left and she didn’t want anything done. After officers cleared the call, they heard the female tell the male to open the door before she changed her mind and they let other officers know the male was still in the house and they went back. An officer then said that the female flagged him down and said the male put his hands on her. At the same time the male called the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and said the female would not give him back his chain and he wanted to leave because he had his 2-year-old son with him and she would not take him back to Columbus. The female again stated she wanted nothing done. The male got back his chain and belongings and left the residence.

East Liverpool

— Officers responded on March 24 at 6:30 p.m., to 2099 St. Clair Ave., after a female caller reported that William Gist (age and address not provided) was chasing her and stole her car. Officers arrived and made contact with the female who said she came home from work and found Gist in her apartment They began to argue, and he trapped her in the kitchen and began to punch her and choked her. She said he also took $576, smashed her phone and broke her computer screen. Gist, who was not at the apartment when officers arrived, was later located and taken into custody for his outstanding warrants through Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. The incident will be forwarded to the prosecutor for review.

— Officers responded to a report of a male subject looking into the window of 412 Wilbert Ave. on March 24, at 6:30 p.m. Officers made contact with the female resident who stated a male from another apartment walked past her apartment and peaked into her window. The female stated it was concerning because she has a 12-year-old daughter who occasionally changes her clothes in the living room. Officers located the male who said he was just walking around and apologized if he glanced in a window. Officers informed him it was a concern for the neighbor and the male said he did nothing wrong and would just stay away from that area when he goes for a walk.

— Officers responded to 343 Clayburn Place on March 24, at 3:03 p.m., for a welfare check on a juvenile who had not been at school. Officers made contact with the father along with the juvenile who said they were fine that she has just been sick with pink eye and will be back to school on Monday.

— Officers were dispatched to 525 Wedgewood Avenue on March 24 at 8:05 p.m., for a welfare check on an infant. Upon arrival officers made contact with male who was not intoxicated and was fine and his children were fine. The male stated that he went to get them dinner but had come right back.

— Officers were dispatched on March 24 at 6:44 p.m., to 689 Lincoln Ave., for someone wanting to report a missing PlayStation. Officers made contact with the male resident the PlayStation was there when he went to work and but when he came home it was missing.

— Officers on March 24 at 9:43 p.m., responded to a noise complaint at 413 Wilbert Ave. Upon arrival, the officer heard a male subject inside yelling I need some damn chocolate syrup. The officer knocked on the door and the male asked who it was. After the officer identified himself as the police the male became quiet and would not answer the door.

— Officers arrived at 306 Gardendale St., on March 24 at 3:34 p.m., and spoke to owner and told her that she would need to evict the male she wanted removed.

— Officers responded to a report of a car over a hill on March 24 at 2:11 p.m., at 2026 St. Clair Ave., at Riverview Cemetery. The vehicle was found on the bottom road inside the cemetery and had been driven back into the area by the owner or her boyfriend and left there for the night. The owner was advised it was up to her to get her vehicle out of there.

— On March 24th at 3:52 p.m., officers were dispatched to 719 Sophia Street in reference to a male staying in a female’s house. The male has been staying there but has also been removing things from the home. Officers had negative contact with the male.

— Officers received a call from a female on March 24 at 2:30 a.m., who stated she lived at 325 Moore St. And that a male she knows as the unicorn man was back in the area and had attempted to kill her 10 years ago. The female requested officers make an extra patrol of her apartment complex.

— Officers checked on a female that was laying on the wall on Webber Way on March 25, at 2:26 p.m. The female stated she had a bad day, and everything was okay.

— Officers dispatched to 1863 Parkway Ave. on March 25, at 1:55 p.m., for a caller who advised he has been having trouble with people snooping around his property. Officer checked the property for a suspicious male but found nothing.

— Officers took a report on March 25 at 11:27 a.m., of a male violating a protection order. The female who has the protection order against him said she has screenshots, and the male has been texting her new boyfriend asking questions about him being around his child.

— Officers responded to 212 Blakely St., for a report of a female down on the ground on March 25, at 4:23 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found the female who said that she was walking down the street and the next thing she knew she was laying on the ground. The female’s child said she had another seizure. Officers stood by until an ambulance arrived and transported her to the hospital.

— An officer responded on March 25 at 9:24 a.m. to 324 Canton St., for a complaint of fighting dogs. When the officer arrived, he made contact with a female who said that neighbor’s dog across the street came into her yard making her dog break through the door and get into a fight. The officer spoke with the neighbor who said the female’s dog got out and came into her yard with her dogs and then got into a fight. The officer got all parties together for a discussion and let them make their own decision for either party to get cited or it just be documented. The decision was made to just document it and both parties were advised to reach out to the dog warden.

— Officers were dispatched to Broadway Wharf on March 25 at 1:11 p.m., for a welfare check on a female. Officers spoke to the female who seemed to be in a good mental state.

— On March 25 at 2:26 a.m., while on patrol an officer found a white pickup sitting at the Broadway Wharf when the wharf was closed. The officer approached the vehicle, and the driver rolled his window down. When asked what he was doing, the driver said he had an argument with his significant other and had parked at the wharf to cool off and avoid a fight.

— Officers stood by while a female removed her belongings from her ex-husband’s residence at 525 Wedgewood St., on March 25 at 8:08 p.m. The ex-husband told her she could get her things but asked that she do it while he was home. He returned home and found her in the house.

— Officers were dispatched on March 25, at 9:46 p.m. to 817 Chester Ave., for a report of a person going into an abandoned home. Upon the officers’ arrival the caller said they did not see anyone enter or leave the house, but they were almost positive they had seen a flashlight inside the home. There was no way for the officers to enter the home and they did not see any flashlights. The front window was partially open, but the neighbor said it had been open for a few days. Officers secured the window the best they could.

— Officers were dispatched to the St. Clair Avenue on March 25 at 2:51 p.m. for a report of a male staggering out into traffic. After being given a description, an officer located the male identified as Mason Jones at the St. Clair Avenue Laundry Mat. Jones was observed by the officers falling into the washers and dryers and appeared to be intoxicated from a drug. When the officer spoke to Jones who could not stand up on his own, he observed that Jones’s eyes kept shutting and started falling out. When asked what he took, Jones said he took a Perk 30. The officer believed Jones was about to overdose and called EMS who arrived and transported Jones to the hospital. Jones was issued a citation for public intoxication.

— Officers were dispatched the YMCA on Fourth Street on March 25, at 12:13 p.m. for a suspicious female. Officers spoke to the female and moved her along off the property.

— Officers responded to a domestic call on March 25 at 6:31 p.m. at 306 Gardendale St. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a female who said her boyfriend started arguing with her and then left the house with her cell phone. Officers advised her on how to evict him and to call if returns and causes problems.

— Officers checked 1863 Parkway for a suspicious male but had negative contact on March 25 at 1:55 p.m.

— Officers responded to a noise complaint at 310 North Shady Lane on March 25, at 11:49 p.m. Officers made contact with the resident who was watching a movie in his apartment and told him they had received a noise complaint and requested he turn the TV down.

— Officers responded on March 25, at 6:21 p.m., to 1 St. Clair Ave, where a female told them she wanted a welfare check because someone was going to kill her son. She then said they were supposed to be moving the body and it would be unknown where he would be at. The female was in mental crisis and officers stood by until an ambulance arrived and transported her to the emergency room.

Salem

— Officers responded to a business in the 500 block of East Pershing Street at 11:36 a.m. Monday for a report of receiving harassing letters. Officers gathered the letters and advised them to contact police if further issues arise.

— Officers responded with the fire department to a business in the 2400 block of East State Street at 9:39 a.m. Monday for a possible fire. The fire department investigated and advised everything was okay.

— Officers responded to a business in the 900 block of Salem Parkway at 7:53 a.m. Monday for a report of theft. The caller advised that a Honda generator and three Milwaukee angle grinders were taken from an enclosed trailer. Officers were advised that the theft possibly occured several weeks ago when one of the employees noticed the door was open. A report will be on file.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of East Sixth Street at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a juvenile issue. Officers spoke with both parties and advised them to settle down for the night.

— Officers responded to the area of South Madison Avenue and East State Street at 10:44 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a man yelling and causing a disorderly disturbance. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the man.

— Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 7:53 p.m. Wednesday for a report of two vehicles operating recklessly in the parking lot. Officers located the vehicles parked next to each other and spoke with the driver, advising them of the complaint and the consequences of continuing their actions. They left the area for the evening.

— Officers assisted an agent with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in the 100 block of West State Street at 7:01 p.m. Tuesday. Officers seized $60 from the involved man as part of the investigation.

— Officers responded to the 2200 block of East State Street at 6:57 p.m. Tuesday to check the area for 911 hang-up calls being received by the Boardman Police Department. Officers checked the area but nobody in need of any assistance was located.

— Officers spoke with a woman at the police department at 6:36 p.m. Tuesday regarding property at a former residence. Officers found the matter to be a civil issue and advised the woman to contact an attorney.

— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday in regard to having been threatened by a man in the Salem Plaza lot a short time earlier. Officers gathered information for documentation and advised the caller if further issues occur to file a report as necessary.

— Officers responded to the area of Southeast Boulevard and Franklin Avenue at 3:48 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a reckless operator. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle in question.

— Officers responded to the area of East State Street and South Cunningham Road at 2:28 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Green Township Fire Department, which requested officers shut down the eastbound roadway on East State Street at the city limits due to a car accident. Officers shut the roadway down until the crash was cleaned up.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Rose Avenue at 1:08 p.m. Tuesday for a barking dog complaint. Officers stayed in the area for several minutes but didn’t hear any barking dogs.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 12:54 p.m. Tuesday for a parking complaint. The caller advised that a truck was parked in their yard and another truck was blocking their driveway. Officers spoke with construction workers regarding the complaint, and they moved the vehicles to alleviate the issue.

— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 10:28 a.m. Tuesday for a report of identity theft. The person had received a credit card in the mail that they did not apply for and a letter requesting a change in address. The person said they contacted the number on the paper but the woman on the phone wanted all their personal information before proceeding so they hung up.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of West State Street at 10:21 a.m. Tuesday for a parking complaint. There was a semi parked facing westbound in the eastbound lane, and officers made contact with the driver who was making a delivery and advised him he couldn’t be parked blocking traffic. He hurried to finish his delivery and left the area.

— Owen Gorby, 18, was cited for no passing on a double yellow line and failure to control after his vehicle lost control while going around a curve in the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, striking a utility pole after passing a vehicle in a no passing zone at an excessive speed at 9:08 a.m. Tuesday. Gorby was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Sixth Street at 7:27 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a juvenile riding a bike in the roadway. Officers located the juvenile and advised him to stay on the sidewalk and not to ride on the roadway. Officers spoke with the juvenile’s mother and advised her of the complaint.
