-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of East State Street at 8:06 p.m. Thursday for a report of a domestic in progress. Officers made contact with both parties, who advised that the incident was verbal in nature.
-- Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 5:26 p.m. Thursday to report of forgery and theft. The man advised that during the time between June and September 2021 his then live-in girlfriend made multiple withdrawals from his PayPal account totaling $1,567.62, and forged his signature on one of his checks. The man said he had already contacted the IRS about the issue who were going to reimburse him. He was advised that a report would be on file.
-- Officers responded to the 1000 block of Benton Road at 3:52 p.m. Thursday to assist the Columbiana County Drug Enforcement Task Force and Perry Township officers in recovering a stolen vehicle. Officers observed multiple people around the stolen vehicle and entered the residence, contacting the residents and detaining several people, one of which, whose name was not listed, was found to have an active warrant out of Columbiana County. Columbiana police responded to recover the stolen vehicle and the person with the warrant was taken into custody by a Columbiana County Sheriff's Deputy and transported to the Columbiana County Jail. Officers then stood by while Perry Township and Columbiana officers conducted their investigation.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Franklin Street at 3 p.m. Thursday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that the person had been threatening her while playing an online game. Officers made contact with an irate person, advising him to cease his actions or criminal charges would be filed. Both parties were advised to leave the other alone.
-- Officers responded to the area of North Ellsworth Avenue at 2:35 p.m. Thursday for a traffic offense. Officers were advised by a bus driver that someone had driven around the bus while the red flashing lights and stop sign were deployed. The vehicle had left the area prior to officers' arrival but the bus driver provided a good registration for the vehicle in question. Officers responded to the driver's residence advising them of the complaint and he admitted to going around the bus, and said he had apologized to the bus driver. The driver was advised of the possible consequences for the violation but was given a warning for it.
-- Officers responded to a business in the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 1:22 p.m. Thursday for a report of criminal damaging. The caller advised that a man had entered the building and blacked out the video cameras. The caller believed nothing was taken from the building but wanted the male criminal trespassed when he was identified.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1600 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:43 p.m. Thursday for an accidental damage report. A customer had pumped fuel and left without removing the fuel nozzle from the vehicle, returning after realizing what had occurred. Officers learned that the pump is designed with a breakaway coupler on each house and that when the vehicle had departed the coupler separated as designed resulting in no fuel spill and no apparent damage. Both ends of the coupler appeared fully intact and were able to be reattached, returning the fuel pump to an operational state. Officers took photos of the scene to document the lack of apparent damage.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Woodland Avenue at 11:25 a.m. Thursday for a report of a verbal dispute. Officers made contact with the caller who advised he had gotten into a verbal argument with his girlfriend who left prior to officer's arrival. The caller said he just wanted to get his belongings and leave and that he had to go back to work but would come back later that night to get his belongings.
-- While on patrol in the 1100 block of East 10th Street at 10:58 a.m. Thursday officers observed a man repeatedly stop in front of a residence then go around the back of the residence. The man said that he was staying at the residence but refused to provide officers with information about the homeowner. After several minutes officers were able to confirm the man was staying there.
-- Officers on patrol in the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East 10th Street observed a vehicle with the four-ways on. Officers contacted the driver who advised she was having trouble with her vehicle but was going to attempt to make it home. She was advised to call if she needed anything.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Highland Avenue at 10:19 a.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious person. Officers contacted the man who advised he was just watching the construction workers work on a residence. Officers advised him he needed to leave the construction.
Perry Township
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1600 block of 8:01 p.m. Thursday for a report of a stolen vehicle. Officers made contact with the home owner and two individuals suspected of stealing the vehicle. After questioning everyone at the residence officers arrested two men for the theft of the vehicle, whose names were not listed. The Columbiana Police Department and the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office also assisted and Sinsley's Towing was called to retried the stolen vehicle.
-- Officers spoke with a woman by phone at 12:08 p.m. Thursday to report overhearing a threat. The caller advised that Megan Tomlin received a call from Randy Culler from the Columbiana County Jail while at her residence that day. The caller said they overheard the conversation and that Culler had said David Cole was being bailed out of jail and that he would be coming after the caller to beat her up when he gets out of jail. Officers advised dispatch to make the department aware of if or when David Cole is bailed out of jail.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised she had gone to the residence after finding out her grandchildren had not shown up for Head Start school that day. The caller found that the mother of the children had them at home and was slurring her speech and believed she was under the influence. The mother said she was sick and was sleeping. The caller said she had found bruises on one of the children's backs which appeared to be a few days old. The mother of the children's mother was also present and confirmed she was sick and not under the influence.
-- Officers spoke to a man by phone at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday in regard to an ongoing family issue. The man advised that he was fearful of his sister due to recent comments she had made. The man was advised to contact the police department where he lives to file a report.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Elberon Avenue at 6:33 p.m. Tuesday for a medical call. The caller said that a man had eaten an edible and was now having a panic attack. Officers found that the man and his wife had both eaten CBD gummies and now had racing heart rates. Both were transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT for treatment.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1900 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday to assist Salem police's school resource officer. Officers stood by while the school resource officer spoke with the parent about an issue that occurred at the school.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1300 block of West State Street at 5:44 p.m. March 19 for a reported domestic incident. The caller advised her mother and her mother's boyfriend had gotten into an altercation and that while she was attempting to break up the altercation the boyfriend had struck her in the face. Officers then spoke with the mother and the boyfriend who advised they were arguing with one another but nothing physical had taken place between them or the daughter. Officers checked the juvenile for any signs of physical violence, observing no bruising, redness or marks of any kind. The boyfriend agreed to leave for the rest of the evening to avoid any further incidents.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 2:30 p.m. March 19 for a trespassing complaint. The caller advised that he has had problems with people trespassing on the backside of his property. Officers found a truck at the backside of the property and spoke with a woman who advised that she had recently purchased the adjacent property and that her deed said she has access to the driveway. Officers advised both parties to speak to one another to handle the situation.
-- Officers responded to the 1700 block of Harding Avenue at 11:31 p.m. March 19 for a noise complaint. When officers arrived, they heard a man yelling for help and when they gained entry to the residence, they located an older man that had fallen. EMS was contacted and the man was transported to the hospital.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Newgarden Avenue at 6:49 p.m. March 17 for a report of a barking dog. Officers spoke with the owner who advised they would bring the animal inside.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Apple Street at 10:47 a.m. March 17 to assist Salem police in locating a runaway juvenile. Officers were unable to locate the juvenile.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Idaho Avenue at 5:27 a.m. March 17 to assist Salem police in locating a runaway juvenile. The juvenile was not at the residence.
-- Officers observed a vehicle in the area of Cry Baby Bridge at 3:10 a.m. March 17. Officers spoke with three individuals advising them to leave the area, and they did without incident.
-- Officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Hearthside Drive at 6:41 p.m. March 16 for an attempted overdose. Officers spoke with the victim and the caller and were informed she had taken a large amount of prescription medication. EMT and the fire department also responded. EMT transported the woman to the hospital.
