County Sheriff
— A deputy was dispatched at 2:37 a.m. Monday to the 2500 block of Jersey Ridge Road, Salem Township, for an open 911 line. The homeowner was contacted and the phone was turned off until it could be fixed in the morning.
— A deputy responded to a St. Clair Township residence at 4:33 a.m. Jan. 6 to serve a protection order, explaining the person served could not possess any dangerous weapons. The person advised he had no weapons or firearms.
— A loud barking dog was reported at 12:16 a.m. Jan. 6 on Harvey Avenue in Center Township, but a deputy checked the area and did not hear any dogs.
— An alarm was reported at a business on Coffee School Road in Butler Township at 10:22 p.m. Jan. 5. Everything was found intact.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Idaho Avenue at 9:29 p.m. Wednesday for an open 911 call. Officers spoke to the homeowner and her husband and everything was found to be fine.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of Benton Road at 8:41 p.m. Saturday for a report of juveniles throwing eggs at vehicles. The caller advised he was heading south on Benton Road when his vehicle was struck with an egg, and that he had seen a few juveniles take off into the woods nearby. The caller’s vehicle did not sustain any damage from the egg, but he wanted to have a report on file. Officers searched the surrounding area to see if any juveniles were out walking but none were located in the area.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 12:27 a.m. Saturday for a report of an overdose. When officers arrived, they found a man lying face down, not breathing. Officers administered Narcan and positioned the man on his back, EMT and the Perry Township Fire Department responded and EMT transported to man to the Salem Hospital for treatment.
— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Cunningham Road at 2:22 p.m. Friday for a report of cows in the roadway. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the animals.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Arch Street at 2:14 a.m. Friday to assist Salem Police. Officers stood by until no longer needed.
— Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Stewart Road at 1:07 a.m. Thursday for a report of threats via text message. Officers spoke with the caller who advised they had been getting threatening text messages from their ex-husband. The woman advised that she wanted a welfare check done because she believed her children could be in danger. Officers made contact with the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office to perform the check. Both parties declined to pursue charges on the threats made and signed refusal to prosecute forms.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of Pine Lake Road at 8:03 p.m. Wednesday for a property dispute. The caller advised she was just there to gather her belongings and was more than willing to leave. The resident said he would give her all her clothes but some were buried in the dirty laundry. Officers advised both parties to make arrangements to exchange property away from the residence. The resident, who is the homeowner, did not want the caller there and she left without incident.
— Officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Prospect Street at 10:10 p.m. Jan. 3 for a 911-hang-up call. Officers spoke to the resident and determined the call was accidental.
Salem
— Officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of West State Street at 5:08 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a suspicious man. Officers spoke with the man and he was sent on his way.
— Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of North Union Avenue at 12:09 a.m. Tuesday for a harassment report. Officers spoke to the caller who advised that he was being targeted by a scam over social media. The caller advised that he had not sent any money to the person. Officers advised the caller to just block the account and not have any further contact with them.
— Officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 7:51 p.m. Monday for a person to be removed. When officers arrived, the caller advised them the person in question had left before they arrived and advised the person had been living there for around two weeks. Officers advised the caller she would have to have the person evicted and the caller advised they understood.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street at 7:18 p.m. Tuesday to speak with the property owner about a criminal trespass. Officers will attempt to contact the involved party and determine if a criminal trespass is applicable.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Newgarden Avenue at 6:31 p.m. Monday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. K-9 Simon was deployed and indicated the presence of narcotic odor and contraband was recovered from the vehicle. Officers assisted and stood by until no longer needed.
— Officers responded to a business in the 600 block of East State Street at 4:58 p.m. Monday for a report of a person to be removed. Officers located the person in question walking away from the business and spoke with him, advising him of the complaint and that he was trespassed from the business and would be arrested for criminal trespass if he returned. The man advised he understood and left the area.
— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 3:49 p.m. Monday for a report of domestic violence that had occurred between her and her adult daughter in the 100 block of Jennings Avenue. The caller claimed she was speaking with her daughter when she was struck in the left side of the face with a closed fist. The woman provided a written statement of the incident and the information will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review of possible charges.
