— Officers responded to a business in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 8:31 p.m. Wednesday for an open door on a motor vehicle. Officers checked the vehicle and the business and found no criminal activity occurring.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Walnut Street at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday for a report of people doing narcotics. Officers spoke to two people who were drinking alcohol, but did not observe any narcotic abuse. The people were advised of the complaint and they denied using narcotics.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:37 p.m. Wednesday for a harassment report. The caller advised he had received unwanted texts and phone calls from his ex-girlfriend. Officers spoke to the ex-girlfriend by phone advising her to stop all contact and she advised she understood and would not contact the caller further.

— While on patrol behind Tractor Supply in the Salem Plaza at 7:27 p.m. Wednesday officers observed a man with an active warrant for theft known to them to be Cody Wilson, 31. Officers confirmed the warrant and placed Wilson under arrest. A woman who was with him was also detained as the Perry Township Police Department had charges on her. Perry Township officers arrived and placed her under arrest. Wilson was transported to the police department for processing and later released to a sheriff’s deputy and transported to the Columbiana County Jail. Additional charges of drug possession for Wilson are pending lab results as a clear plastic container with a crystal-like substance was found in his backpack during a search incident to the arrest.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of East Eight Street at 6:31 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The resident was fine and it was found the call was in relation to ongoing custody issues.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 6:12 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a reckless driver. Caller advised the vehicle was all over the roadway. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

— While on patrol in the 2300 block of East State Street at 5:02 p.m. Wednesday officers were advised of illegal dumping. The individual was able to provide officers with a registration for the vehicle involved. Officers will follow up with the owner of the vehicle.

— Officers responded to the 2400 block of East State Street at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday to check for a person with an active warrant. Officers checked multiple locations but were unable to locate the person.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of East Pershing Street at 1:52 p.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer. Officers spoke with the caller who had concerns about her husband and her children. Officers advised them of their options.

— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday about a family matter. Officers advised them of their options.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday for a reported civil issue. Officers spoke with all parties and advised them the issue was civil in nature.

— While on patrol in the area of east State Street and North Lincoln Avenue at 11:12 a.m. Wednesday officers were advised of a person possibly sleeping at a red light. Officers located the vehicle and spoke with the driver who advised he had briefly fallen asleep but that he was fine. Officers spoke with the man for several minutes.

— Officers responded to the intersection of Southeast Boulevard and East Pershing Street at 10:48 a.m. Wednesday for the report of a two-vehicle accident. Mitzi Campbell, 61, of Leetonia struck the rear end of a trailer being hauled by Jerry Brown due to following too closely. Kaiser Towing responded to remove Campbell’s vehicle and Brown drove from the scene. Campbell was cited for assured clear distance ahead.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 9:49 p.m. Wednesday for a report of two dogs running at large. The caller was able to take control of the animals until the human officer arrived.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Brooklyn Avenue at 9:14 a.m. Wednesday for a criminal trespassing report. Officers spoke with both parties finding the residents had arranged a meeting between the insurance company and HVAC companies for a possible problem with equipment inside the home. One of the parties had arrived early and entered the backyard area without the consent of the homeowner. The homeowner wanted the people to be charged with trespassing. Officers took statements and information will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review. At the time of the report, it did not appear to be criminal in nature.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 8:53 a.m. Wednesday to speak with a woman about issues with her apartment and landlord. While on scene officers discovered the woman was having a medical emergency. The Salem Fire Department and EMT responded to assess the woman, who was transported to the Salem hospital for further evaluation.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 11:58 a.m. Tuesday for a report of bank fraud. The woman advised that she had received multiple phone calls from someone claiming to be her cable company and had sent checks totaling $1,100 to them. The woman was given a report number and advised the report would be filed.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Pershing Street at 10:46 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a burglary in progress. An unidentified man had trespassed inside an occupied residence, and a resident had confronted the man and had them detained on the ground awaiting officers. The man was observed to have sustained an injury to his mouth during the altercation, so first responders and KLG responded, with the man, whose name was not listed, being transported to Alliance Hospital for treatment. Statements were obtained from the residents and criminal charges will be forwarded to the court for a warrant.

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of Franklin Avenue at 9:23 a.m. Tuesday for reports of a dog in the roadway. A pedestrian advised a large brown dog had been observed in a parking lot but ran off toward Franklin. Officers checked the area and surrounding streets but were unable to locate the dog.

— An ambulance was requested for a female student having a medical issue at Salem High School at 8:52 a.m. Tuesday. The Salem Fire Department and EMT responded, transporting the student to the Salem hospital.

— An officer was advised at 12:49 p.m. Tuesday by the previous shift of a man who contacted the police department over an issue regarding picking his daughter up from St. Paul School on East State Street. Officer was advised that the man was told by an attorney not to go back on to the property as the school stated he was not allowed to be there, and the officer was requested to follow up with an employee of the school to confirm this. Officer made contact with an administrator of the school who advised that the complainant is allowed to be on the property to pick his daughter up from school, and contacted and advised the man he is allowed to pick his daughter up from school and he stated he would like a police report documenting this.
