--Police responded to the railroad underpass on West Main Street Tuesday regarding a complaint about the bridge collapsing. Officers found pieces of concrete beneath the underpass and moved them from the roadway. Norfolk Southern and the East Palestine Street Department were both contacted.
--Officers discovered drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on East North Avenue in the early morning on March 26.
--Police and EMS were called to a residence on Lincoln Avenue Friday involving an unresponsive man who overdosed. The man refused transport to the hospital.
--A resident reported identity theft Saturday morning.
--James Craig III, 38, was arrested and transported to the Columbiana County Sheriffs Office Thursday night after officers found James driving under suspension with two outstanding warrants. James was originally stopped for an equipment violation.
--A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody on a warrant through juvenile court at 2:11 p.m. Thursday. Officers transported the boy to the Tobin Center.
--Friday afternoon officers helped Columbiana County Sheriffs retrieve stolen vehicles from a property on State Route 14.
--Police arrested Amber Christy, 31, of Butler, PA, Saturday March 26 for OVI after an officer observed Christy endangering herself near the railroad tracks on North Market Street.
--Officers observed Jason K. Marshall, 34, driving over the speed limit on Young Street near South Market Street on a motorcycle Wednesday March 30 before issuing Marshall an OVI .
--Officers responded to a domestic dispute on Park Avenue at 12:17 a.m. Friday. Officers arrested Cody Davis, 22, for domestic violence.
--Charges are pending regarding domestic violence from a call officers responded to Bacon Avenue resident March 30. The suspect fled from the area before officers arrived. --Police responded to a junk vehicle complaint on West Main Street March 30 and issued the property owner a zoning violation.
--An administrator at East Palestine High School requested assistance from the school resource officer at 1:22 p.m. March 29.
--Two middle school students were involved in a conflict at East Palestine Middle School Tuesday March 29.
--A woman came on station March 28 to report conversations between her grandson and an adult male through online gaming and a cell phone March 28.
--A woman reported an incident involving her child the morning of March 28.
--The East Palestine Police Department received an emergency hang-up call March 28 and found a small child playing with a cell phone.
--Officers responded to a complaint regarding stolen property Sunday March 27. The property was recovered and returned to the owner.
--A suspicious vehicle was reported Sunday March 27 from the city park. An officer spoke with the person inside the vehicle who said he was between homes. The officer advised the man the park was closed and he should move on.
--On March 27 an officer discovered a driver was experiencing a medical emergency along Bacon Avenue near the old Marathon and requested EMS assistance.
Salem
-- A suspicious male was reported at 5:35 a.m. Monday in the 500 block of East State Street where officers saw a man sleeping on furniture behind a business. Officers told the man he wasn't permitted to be sleeping outside the business, per the business owner.
-- Megan McBride, 37, Lincoln Avenue, East Liverpool, was taken into custody on a warrant out of Boardman for theft after officers in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street located a vehicle with two people sleeping in it at 2:43 a.m. Monday. Police made contact and confirmed the warrant for the female, then transported her to Columbiana to meet with Boardman Police officers who took her into their custody.
-- Police responded at 10:14 p.m. Sunday to Lexington Avenue at the request of the fire department for a combative male patient. Upon arrival, officers were told the male was being cooperative. Officers had no contact with him.
-- Officers at 8:50 p.m. Sunday saw a known female driving in the 300 block of East Euclid Street who had a warrant for her arrest out of Columbiana County. Officers stopped the vehicle. Sue A. Baddeley, 58, Newgarden Avenue, was taken into custody on a warrant for assault and was turned over to a sheriff's deputy.
-- A dispute was reported at 8:24 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Ohio Avenue. Officers spoke with both parties involved and both said it was an argument.
-- Police responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 6:35 p.m. Sunday to follow up on a hit/skip accident.
-- Police were called at 6:46 p.m. Sunday to the 2900 block of East State Street where a caller said a customer was refusing to leave. The business prepared a different pizza for the customer, but she still wasn't happy. Officers spoke with the customer who refused to take the pizza and said she would take it up with corporate offices.
-- Police in the 1100 block of Short Street at 6:24 p.m. Sunday spoke with a woman and collected information.
-- A theft was reported at Walmart in the 2800 block of East State Street at 4:44 p.m. Sunday. Officers spoke with the caller and a female, reviewed video footage and spoke with the caller about the female's behavior. A summons for theft will be issued to the female.
- A K9 officer was requested at 11:55 a.m. Sunday to assist Columbiana police in a wooded area on South Vine Street to find items that suspects who were already in custody had discarded while fleeing. The K9 officer located the discarded item.
- Officers responded to a 700 block West State Street business at 1:07 p.m. Sunday in reference to a theft from the store. The suspect was identified and the matter is under investigation.
- Officers responded to the 500 block of Columbia Street at 3:08 a.m. Sunday in reference to a noise complaint and found an intoxicated man knocking on an apartment door. The man said he was supposed to stay with a friend who locked him out of the apartment. Officers gave the man a courtesy ride back to his house.
- Officers responded to the 500 block of Prospect Street at 1:52 a.m. Sunday in reference to a juvenile problem. Officers found the juvenile and returned him to his guardian.
- A K9 officer responded to the 400 block of Boardman Canfield Road at 1:03 a.m. Sunday to assist the highway patrol in tracking a suspect who ran after committing multiple felony violations. A K9 from the Youngstown Police Department arrived on scene first and tracked the suspect until the Salem K9 picked up the track until finding the suspect had been picked up in a vehicle.
- A patrolling officer observed a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Highland Avenue at 12:13 a.m. Sunday with a substance all over the driver's side. Upon checking, the officer found that someone had thrown a container of chip dip all over the side of the vehicle. The officer was unable to contact the owner.
- Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 9:19 p.m. Saturday where a motorist reported an SUV struck the back of their horse trailer in the drive thru and when confronted, the female driver switched places with a male passenger who drove away from the scene, striking a pole in the parking lot. The vehicle then headed eastbound on East State Street. The incident is under investigation.
- Matthew L. Surmaceviz, 27, Fair Avenue, Salem, was cited for improper backing following a two-vehicle crash in the 500 block of Aetna Street at 6:32 p.m. Saturday in which he allegedly backed out of a driveway and struck a legally parked vehicle.
- An officer responded to the 500 block of East Fifth Street at 3:17 p.m. Saturday in reference to a juvenile riding a scooter in the roadway. The officer found the juvenile, who said he was staying with his mother in the 200 block of same street. He was advised not to be riding the scooter in the roadway and he promptly returned to his mother's yard.
- An officer responded to the 400 block of East Sixth Street at 2:56 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported a man had shown up looking for her adult granddaughter regarding a scam, but the granddaughter had not lived there for some time and the man left. The officer contacted the granddaughter who said she had been scammed and then her identity had been used to scam the man in question. The officer gathered information to contact the man.
- Jenny M. Carson, 45, High Street, Leetonia, was cited for failure to yield right of way following a two-vehicle crash in the 2200 block of East State Street at 11:04 a.m. Saturday in which she was making an eastbound turn onto East State Street and sideswiped another eastbound vehicle, driven by Renee A. Dietz, 36, Slater Road, Salem. No injuries were reported.
Sheriff's office
-- A deputy doing a security check at the Eagle Pass Golf Course, state Route 172, East Rochester, at 12:25 a.m. Thursday discovered a back door ajar, but nothing disturbed inside.
-- Lights were found on in a truck at Heritage Cooperative, U.S. Route 62, Beloit, at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday. A deputy turned the lights out and checked the rest of the property, which appeared secure.
-- A domestic dispute was reported on Fairway Road, Madison Township at 12:23 a.m. Friday. One of the people involved said the incident primarily happened in St. Clair Township, so police from there were called. However, the woman refused to cooperate with the investigation and had no visible injuries at that time.
-- A possibly intoxicated woman knocking on doors and looking for an address on Hoffmeister Road was reported in the area of the 50000 block of Heck Road in Unity Township at 3:10 a.m. Friday. Deputies checked the area and could not find her. They then learned she was arrested by Springfield Township Police after she was found to have warrants through Columbiana County. The deputy picked up the woman, Charlene Sias, from Springfield Township Police and transported her to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- While checking the area at Guilford Highlands complex at 1:22 a.m. Thursday, deputies found a garage mandoor that was open, which is usually closed. Unable to contact the owner, deputies checked the inside of the garage and outside of the home. Nothing was found to be ransacked and deputies closed the door.
-- A woman at the parking lot for Mark's Landing, Charlton Drive, Hanover Township, reportedly called for an ambulance at 1:42 a.m. Thursday claiming she was suffering from a hernia. She had been at the restaurant earlier with family and began having stomach pains. EMT responded and transported her to a hospital.
-- A man staying at the Community Action Agency homeless shelter on state Route 45 in Salem Township reported at 12:50 a.m. Friday two other men staying there had threatened him and he was worried for his safety. He had left the shelter for the night and deputies spoke to both of the other men, who claimed the first man was aggressive toward one of them and attempted to hit him in the parking lot, but he did not want to pursue charges. Other witnesses agreed they saw that happen. The first man was coming back to get his belongings on Saturday and everyone was told to be civil toward him when he returns.
