-- Someone asked deputies to check on a State Line Road, Negley, woman who reportedly posted something online about possibly killing herself on Tuesday. Deputies went to the home, where she had recently moved in with her mother, but could not find anyone home. However, the woman called the deputy back later and explained she had left the man who called and he had hacked her Facebook account, making the post himself.
-- Deputies assisted a state trooper just south of the golf club on state Route 45 as they searched a vehicle at 4:39 p.m. Wednesday.
Leetonia
-- An officer responded to a two-vehicle crash on state Route 344 at the western village limits at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday. The crash was outside village limits, so the officer stood by until the highway patrol could arrive. There were no injuries and the vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
Perry Township
-- Officers at 11:05 a.m. Thursday were requested to assist KLG ambulance on South Lincoln Avenue for an intoxicated woman causing problems at Circle K. She told police she was homeless and they found her extremely intoxicated and possibly on some type of drugs. Apparently she was heading to rehab when she jumped out of the car she was riding in. She was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
-- No citation was issued and no injuries reported after a Stewart Road resident said he pulled out of his driveway to go east towards Depot Road when he felt the vehicle pull hard to the right, causing the vehicle to go off the road, strike a mailbox and come to rest on the edge of the road at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. Police saw that the driver side lower control arm assembly had broken, causing the loss of steering. There was minor body damage to the vehicle, with a flat bed truck called to tow it away.
-- A caller at 11:53 p.m. Wednesday reported a possible drunk driver leaving a residence on Stewart Road, but the vehicle was not found.
-- Police talked to two different people, a man and a woman, on Blossom Lane, at 4:09 and 4:12 p.m. Wednesday, regarding unemployment claims filed in their names after they had not filed for unemployment.
-- A woman in the 12000 block of Goshen Road reported telephone harassment at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday, saying her son called her 70 times in the past hour swearing at her. She wanted police to tell him to stop. Officers were unable to make contact with him or leave a message.
-- A caller at 3 p.m. Wednesday wanted a welfare check on a female on Idaho who was asking questions about a head injury. The homeowner said she moved out three weeks ago.
-- An Andrew Avenue resident reported at 12:01 p.m. Wednesday a male was at her home with her daughter and she wanted him to leave and not return. He agreed to leave.
Salem
-- A man at 12:20 a.m. Thursday in the 600 block of East Third Street pointed out a hypodermic needle on the steps near his apartment. Police disposed of it properly.
-- Logan Blake, 22, of Wellsville, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 11:13 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of West State Street. When asked if any illegal items were in the vehicle, he handed over a small bag of marijuana. A probable cause search yielded other various paraphernalia. The paraphernalia and marijuana were destroyed by police. A valid driver arrived to drive Blake's vehicle home for him.
-- A noise complaint was reported at 9:54 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of West Seventh Street where a man was working on his vehicle and revving the engine. He was already inside for the night when police arrived.
-- A domestic was reported at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of East Seventh where an argument began after one person incorrectly applied self-tanning lotion to the other person. No signs of physical injury were found. One person was given a ride.
-- Kymberly Ladany, 57, of Cedar Street, was taken into custody on a warrant for theft, turned over to a Columbiana County sheriff's deputy and taken to jail after a traffic stop at 7:37 p.m. Wednesday on South Lincoln Avenue near Euclid for no lights.
-- Officers on Pennsylvania Avenue were flagged down at 7:01 p.m. Wednesday for a dog locked inside a vehicle at an open business. The dog showed zero signs of distress and the owner said the son was coming to pick up the dog. Nothing was considered suspicious.
-- A package theft was reported at 4:57 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Sharp Street where a male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans took a package from a porch and ran west down an alley. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. A package located in a yard a few houses down turned out to be the package in question and was returned to the owner.
-- A post office employee reported at 4:44 p.m. Wednesday that a silver Chevy struck one of the mailboxes in the alley by the post office and crumpled the slot for mail. The license plate was given to officers who then spoke to the owner. The post office did not want to pursue the matter.
-- A woman at 4:36 p.m. Wednesday reported unemployment fraud. She was told how to contact the state.
-- Information was gathered at 4:04 p.m. Wednesday for a physical altercation in the 1900 block of East State Street.
-- Harassment was reported at 2:03 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Hawley. The caller was referred to the proper agency.
-- An alarm was reported at 1:43 p.m. Wednesday in the 2000 block of East State, but everything was ok. The alarm appeared to be triggered by a brief power outage.
-- A dispute was reported at 1:43 p.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of Southeast Boulevard where a woman said she had been staying for two months, but was being kicked out illegally. A person confirmed he was kicking her out because she had threatened to pour cement into the washer. Police spoke to the homeowner and explained residency laws. The woman moved out and willingly left for her own safety.
-- A caller at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday reported three dogs on the loose in the 900 block of East Sixth Street. One dog wearing a collar allegedly attempted to attack the caller. Officers spotted the dogs near East Third and Vine but were unable to catch them and notified the humane officer.
-- A caller at 1:31 p.m. Wednesday reported a garbage bag fell out of a vehicle on West State, with officers noticing small cans in the road. The street department was notified.
-- No injuries were reported and no citations issued after a vehicle trying to park in a lot in the 100 block of East State Street jumped the curb and struck a parked vehicle, then struck the building at 12:44 p.m. Wednesday. Both vehicles were damaged.
-- A stray dog found in the area of Salem Plaza at 11:36 a.m. Wednesday was returned to the owner.
-- Police responded at 11:22 a.m. Wednesday to the 1800 block of East State to check on a female reported stumbling around and falling. Officers were familiar with her and knew she had a medical condition affecting her mobility. She said she was ok and consented to a search of her purse, with nothing illegal found. She refused a courtesy ride.
-- An officer in the 800 block of East Third Street at 9:16 a.m. Wednesday saw a dog run out into the road and get struck by an oncoming vehicle. The owner transported the dog to a local veterinary hospital.
-- At 9:12 a.m. Wednesday, a property owner was told how to comply with the junk vehicle ordinance for two vehicles parked on the property that had not operated or been moved in some time.
