POLICE and FIRE
County Sheriff
– Deputies responded at 12:12 p.m. Friday to the parking lot of the Unity Vittle Village where someone reported a woman suspected of overdosing from shooting heroin in a car. East Palestine EMS told deputies a man was attempting CPR when they arrived. Ashley Shaw of Warren was conscious when deputies were there and said she just flew in from vacationing in Florida and her boyfriend, Mark Michling, picked her up from the Pittsburgh Airport. They stopped at the Vittle Village for some food and he prepared some heroin in a syringe for her. She shot it with the syringe and passed out. Deputies spoke to Michling and found two tablets believed to contain hydrocodone in his pocket, which will be sent to a lab for analysis. A spoon found nearby, which East Palestine fire Chief Josh Brown said Michling told him he threw when she passed out. It will be sent for analysis as well.
– Alex Converse, Hilltop Drive, Lisbon, reported someone needed to be removed at 2:44 a.m. Sunday. Dakota McCluskey was intoxicated, yelling and making a scene when deputies arrived. He was warned to leave immediately or he would be taken to jail. He left.
– Rachel Williams, U.S. Route 62, Salem, reported at 11:47 p.m. Saturday her ex-boyfriend, William Tomlin, has a key and has been coming to her home when she is not there. Deputies called Tomlin and warned him not to return or he would be charged with burglary.
– Donna Mineard, Mattix Road, Lisbon, reported at 1:47 a.m. Friday her 17-year-old son ran off after he was in a dispute with some neighbors. The boy is not familiar with the area. Brandon Wareham, Austintown, had reported at 8:59 p.m. Thursday he had been with the 17-year-old, another friend and Mineard on the way to Circle K when he checked his wallet and money was missing.
– A domestic violence report was filed at 8:16 p.m. Thursday. Deputies spoke to two young men, who said their father and sister had argued, but had left separately before deputies arrived. The father, Tye Tomlinson, spoke to deputies by phone and said his daughter does not like his new girlfriend and they argued. It was reported the daughter hit him a few times, but the father refused to give any statements about that and signed a refusal to prosecute.
– Kim Piccoli (Tullis), Mattix Road, Lisbon, reported at 6:31 p.m. Thursday she came home to find someone had broken into her trailer by way of the air conditioner unit. Some items were stolen, Piccoli’s neighbor, Joy Miller reported she was driving down her driveway and saw a man of slight build, whom she had never seen before, screwing the air conditioner back to the trailer.
– Chelsea Curran, Steubenville Pike, Lisbon, reported at 5:39 p.m. Thursday her now ex-boyfriend, John Poole, had argued with her and pushed her out of his way when he was leaving the house. She signed a refusal to prosecute.
Highway Patrol
– Edward L. Beaver Jr., 69, North Benton, and Chad W. Apple, 23, Alliance, were eastbound on U.S. 62 in Knox Township at 5:45 p.m. Thursday and Beaver was slowing in traffic and was struck from behind by Apple. Beaver was cited for assured clear distance.
– Gary L. Frampton, 53, Leslie Road, Lisbon, and David J. Panezott, 33, Andrew Avenue, Salem, were southeastbound on Middle Beaver Road in Elkrun Township at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Panezott stopped in traffic and was struck by Frampton. Frampton was cited for assured clear distance.
Lisbon
– Richie L. Burton, 50, North Green Street, was arrested for violating a protection order and OVI after his estranged wife reported he showed up where she worked in town to ask for money at 8:15 a.m. Saturday. Burton left by the time police arrived but he was seen driving north on North Market Street and pulled into his wife’s place of employment, Lisbon Auto Sales. He smelled of alcohol and had difficulty standing, and told police he had his last drink at 10 p.m. the night before. As for the protection order obtained by his wife, Burton denied knowing any such order was in place.
– Police were called to Apple Grove apartments at 1:02 a.m. Sunday by someone who said Floyd Gilmore was there despite being banned from the premises. Police did not find Gilmore around the apartment complex.
– Thomas Folley, North Jefferson, reported at 2:17 a.m. his ex-girlfriend Sierra Frantz had been kicking on his door but had since left. While police were talking to Folley, Frantz called his phone and he handed it to the officer. Frantz said Folley was the one texting her and calling her all night, but then she called Folley after hanging up with police. Folley was told to call back should Frantz return.
– A caller reported a pedestrian was possibly struck by a motorist who kept traveling north on Market at 4:49 p.m. Thursday. Police checked the area but did not find anyone in the area.
– Someone named Michelle reported people were arguing outside Circle K at 5:50 p.m. Thursday. They were gone when police arrived.
– A syringe was found by a Smith Oil customer at 6:19 p.m. Thursday.
– Police responded to a 911 hang-up call that came from a North Market Street apartment house at 7:10 p.m. Friday and shouting could be heard in the background. Police arrived and spoke to Corey Libert, who said he and an unidentified woman were having an argument but it never got beyond that. The woman agreed with the assessment, and both were told to quit being loud.
– Police responded to a report of a suspicious man hanging around outside the BP station and asking customers for rides at 10:27 p.m. Friday. The man told police his girlfriend had kicked out of their vehicle and he was just trying to get a ride home to Canton. Police gave him a ride into town.
Columbiana
– A woman reported at 3 p.m. Saturday a man was soliciting on Southern Terrace. Police found he was getting signatures for an election and was not violating any laws.
– A man reported theft of cell phones from the Firestone Park at 6 p.m. Saturday.
– A man reported at 7:20 p.m. Saturday kids had drug a 30-foot log down Quincy Avenue. Police told the kids they would need permission from the city to remove wood from the area.
– A woman reported at 10 p.m. Saturday loud noise was coming from a home on North Main Street where a wedding was taking place. Police checked and found the noise was not excessive.
– Kyle Rhodes, age not listed, Columbiana, was arrested on an active warrant through the Leetonia Police Department at 10:50 p.m. Saturday on North Main.
– Michael Smith, East Palestine, was stopped for traffic in the Duke and Duchess parking lot at 4:29 p.m. Friday and waiting to enter state Route 14 when Michael Kuhns, Canfield, struck him from behind. No citations were issued due to being in private property.
– Several people reported at 4:29 p.m. Friday there was a dog in a dark blue Jeep Liberty in the Sparkle parking lot. Police checked but the vehicle was already gone.
– Mary Zimmerman, Columbiana, was eastbound on state Route 14 at 7:27 p.m. Friday and coming to a stop near Windjammer Drive when Johnny Doss, Columbiana, struck her from behind. Doss was cited for assured clear distance.
– A Taco Bell employee reported at 8:38 p.m. Friday someone in a silver pickup truck that went through the drive-through appeared to be intoxicated. Police checked but did not find the vehicle.
Salem
– A woman at 6:19 a.m. Monday reported her vehicle stolen sometime after 3 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard. While collecting information, an officer learned her vehicle was involved in an accident in Perry Township and a man was suspected to be driving.
– Walmart reported at 1:20 a.m. Monday a man put a TV and other unknown items into a shopping cart and left without paying.
– Police were called at 12:28 a.m. Monday to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue regarding an assault. A man said his girlfriend and another female began assaulting him. The two woman said that did not happen but they did get into an argument. No visible injuries were seens.
– A driver’s license found on the street on East Fourth at 11:34 p.m. Sunday was placed in the lost and found.
– Police were called to the 1100 block of East State at 11:16 p.m. Sunday. A man from Cedar Ridge said his roommate was making threats against him about not having rent money for this month.
– Officers on patrol in the 800 block of West State at 11:14 p.m. Sunday were flagged down and told about a vehicle with the radio volume turned up sitting at a business in the 700 block. Officers spoke with the owner of the vehicle who turned the music down.
– An East Third Street woman reported at 10:36 p.m. Sunday her daughter took the keys to her car and refused to return them. While speaking with her, her daughter arrived and said she would take care of the problem.
– A set of keys found in the city was turned over to police at 10:12 p.m. Sunday and placed in lost and found.
– Police conducted a well-being check in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue after a caller at 9:01 p.m. Sunday reported a child crying for an extended time.The sitter who said the mother stepped out for a short time and would be back momentarily. The sitter brought the child down for officers to observe that he appeared in good health.
– Police responded to the 400 block of Washington Avenue to speak with a woman at 6:46 p.m. Sunday. The woman said someone was talking to her and she wasn’t able to make calls on her home phone. She also said kids were running around her house and leaving belongings on her porch. Officers told her to call the phone company about any problems with her phone. Officers also checked around her residence for any suspicious activity and everything appeared OK.
– A domestic dispute was reported at 5:43 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of West Wilson Street. While enroute, officers saw one of the people involved on South Howard. He said he had been involved in a verbal dispute with several family members.
– A hit/skip was reported at the Salem Community Center a few days prior to the call.
– Police responded at 5:06 p.m. Sunday to the area of Jennings Avenue and the bypass at the request of Perry Township Police to assist in finding the driver of a vehicle who fled the scene of an accident. The driver was not located.
– A woman in the 800 block of West Pershing Street reported at 4:57 p.m. Sunday that her boyfriend parked his vehicle in a private lot and the owner was going to have it towed. She was concerned that the tow truck driver demanded payment for the tow. She was told if she did not have permission to park in the private lot then the property owner had the right to have the vehicle towed at the vehicle owner’s expense.
– Officers responded at 4:41 p.m. Sunday to the 800 block of West Pershing Street for an intoxicated person who was allegedly bothering other tenants and yelling outside his apartment. The person said he and the person who called had been arguing for several days. He was told to stay inside for the rest of the evening since he had been drinking and to try to keep things civil.
Goshen Police District
– Marlon Demarco Blue II, 19, Alliance, was cited for driving without a valid license and driving left of center following a traffic stop on state Route 534 near Calla Road at 2:26 a.m. Saturday in which no one in the vehicle was over the age of 21, making his temporary permit invalid. Officers also searched the vehicle after detecting an odor of marijuana, but found nothing.
– Yaisa El Quintana Laboy, 30, 12012 W. Calla Road, Salem, was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence after officers responded to her home for a domestic disturbance at 1:19 a.m. Sunday and determined she had struck another resident of the home, Hiram Diaz, during an argument. She also reportedly shattered an aquarium in the home and damaged a lawn mower while attempting to back up a vehicle.
East Palestine
– Joseph Halfhill, age and address not listed, was arrested on a warrant through the Columbiana County Common Pleas Court at 8 p.m. Saturday following a traffic stop on North Market Street.
– David S. Corey, 30, Mich., was arrested for marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia following a traffic stop on West Main Street at 10:26 p.m. Saturday. He was also cited for loud exhaust. Stefany J. Noling, 24, East Park Avenue, Columbiana, was also cited for possession of marijuana.
– Ken Holley, Spaite Drive, reported at 3:42 p.m. Friday a man he knows was harassing him while he was moving out of his home on South Street and was also harassing his wife at her place of employment.
– A Brookdale Avenue woman reported at 4:25 p.m. Saturday a neighbor’s dog barks at her and her husband while they are outside.
-Tom Giambroni, Clarkson Road, Rogers, reported his vehicle was struck by a SUV driven by Serina Miller, Metz Road, New Waterford, in the Dairy Queen parking lot about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Miller backed into Giambroni’s parked vehicle, damaging the bumper.
– Betty Fowler, Alice Street, reported at noon Sunday she had a snake hanging from the rafter on her front porch.
– Zoning violation notices for high grass were went to the following on Saturday: 286 E. Clark St., 706 W. Clark St. and 175 Wood St.
East Liverpool
– James Schmitt, St. Clair Avenue, reported Sunday his granddaughter’s boyfriend has been making death threats toward his family.
– Kacey N. Kraft, Dresden Avenue, reported she left her dog, Diesel, with her boyfriend’s brother and learned he may have given or sold the dog to a Wellsville woman. Kraft’s attempts to contact the woman via Facebook have been unsuccessful. She was advised to take proof of ownership of the dog to speak with the law director.
– Brittany L. Damron, West Seventh Street, reported Monday she ordered a package and contacted the company to learn it had been delivered Friday afternoon. Checking around her property, Damron found the package in a yellow garbage bag she said is consistent with her neighbor’s garbage and wanted charges filed. She was advised to see the law director.
Salineville
– A driver who was not named was cited for driving under suspension Friday night on West Main.
– A McGavern Road resident requested assistance at 9:44 a.m. Monday after he said his nose was bleeding profusely as a result of a prior head injury. He was taken to the hospital.
Wellsville
– Brandon Cayton reported his unlocked 2001 Ford Escort with the keys in it was taken from outside Cimbar Minerals on Clark Avenue Friday night.
– Robert Long, Lincoln Avenue, reported his dog was attacked by another dog, a pit bull mix, while walking in the area of 17th Street and Lincoln. He believed that the other dog belonged to Scott Call. While Long did not notice any injury to his dog at first, he later observed some tears to his dog’s paw and it to the vet.
– Adam Childers, Chester Avenue, reported Saturday his friend, Jessica Conger of Toronto, backed into his BMW with her Jeep.

-The fire department was asked to help the street department help with a tree branch that fell on the house at 515 N. Jefferson St. at 5:49 p.m. Saturday.

– Kimberly Kelleher, state Route 7, New Waterford, reported at 6:31 p.m. Wednesday she found four unauthorized charges on her account totaling about $535.
Highway Patrol
– Gary H. Lawn, 67, Mechanicstown Road, Hanoverton, was northbound on state Route 9 in Butler Township at 6 a.m. Thursday and hit a deer.
– Robert L. Adams, 40, Coolidge Avenue, East Liverpool, was eastbound on state Route 172 in Hanover Township at 8 p.m. Saturday and went off the right side and overturned while attempting to avoid Frank A. Copanic, 19, Campbell, who failed to yield from a private drive eastbound on state Route 172. Copanic was cited for right of way.
Columbiana
– Police found the railroad gates on Fairfield Avenue malfunctioning at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday.
– A woman reported at 2 p.m. Wednesday two women were going door to door asking if people if they knew anyone with hearing problems and no solicitors permits had been issued for them to be doing so.
– Brian Baker, Dunnellon, Fla., was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on West Park Avenue at 11:31 p.m. Wednesday.
East Palestine
– A West Clark Street woman reported at 12:27 p.m. Thursday she was assaulted by both of her sons. Police charged Joshua Andrews, 25, North Walnut Street, with domestic violence.
– A Beaver Falls, Pa. man reported that one of his employees in East Palestine was being harassed by a boyfriend she recently broke up with and that the man had reportedly threatened to come after her at the workplace on East Martin Street. Police told him to send the man a letter advising him that he was not permitted to be on the company’s property and if he is found there he would be charged with criminal trespass.
– Amy Harn, South Street, reported at 11:31 a.m. Wednesday a woman who lives on the other side of the duplex was outside making threats toward her.
East Liverpool
– Caithlynne L. Godocsik, McKinnon Avenue, reported Wednesday her rental car, a dark blue Toyota Camry with the keys in it, went missing sometime overnight. Police learned the car was involved in an accident in Chester where a female driver got out of the vehicle and ran.
– Diana M. Burchett, Maine Boulevard, reported Wednesday a package that thepostal service delivered Monday was stolen from her porch.
– Police were called at 10:13 p.m. Wednesday to a West Sixth Street residence after receiving a call from a man who said he wanted to hurt himself. He agreed to go to the hospital.
Liverpool Township
– Renee Lynn Kidder, Idaho Avenue, was backing out of a driveway on Shadyside Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when she turned her vehicle too soon, causing it to slide over the hill. AAA was able to pull her off the hill, and she was able to drive it.
– Paxton E. Croxall, 22, St. George Street, East Liverpool, was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Park Boulevard East and Macrum Road around 12:48 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck on the driver’s side by Jeremy R. Cranston, 28, Ferry Road, Chester, W.Va., who turned wide. Cranston was cited for failure to control.
Wellsville
– Gerald Walker, caretaker of Hammond Park, reported at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday that one of the grills fell on a cheerleader’s ankle. The coach said they were doing stretches when the cheerleader lost her balance and fell, and while catching herself on a grill, it toppled over and landed on her ankle.
Salem
– Randy Waters, of Kennedy Drive, spoke with an officer Thursday regarding an accident which occurred July 29 in the Walmart lot. Another vehicle backed into his parked vehicle. He argued with the other driver regarding his insurance and decided not to make a police report. Now he said the other insurance company won’t fix his vehicle due to conflicting statements between the two. He was told it was a civil matter.
– An officer at 6:29 a.m. Thursday checked on a possible abandoned vehicle parked in the 500 block of South Madison. The 1991 blue Chrysler was not displaying a valid registration sticker although the plates were valid, and the left rear tire was flat. A female came out of a residence and was told about the complaint and that the violations needed corrected or the vehicle would be towed away.
– A Louisville woman reported at 3:47 a.m. Thursday that her elderly father left the Louisville area and may be heading to his former property in Salem. She said he should not be driving and asked officers to attempt to locate him. Officers found him in the 500 block of East State Street and he appeared in good spirits.
– Scott Dean, 26, of 555 Franklin Ave., was served with a warrant for failure to appear on child support and charged with possession of pot after an officer aware of the warrant saw him walking in the 700 block of East State at 3:35 a.m. Thursday.
– A possible prowler was reported at 2:53 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Rose Avenue. A resident said someone keeps knocking on her door, but when she opens the door, nobody is there.
– An officer at 1:15 a.m. Thursday saw a vehicle parked in Centennial Park. Two people were in the vehicle. They had just gotten done working and were eating. They were told the park curfew times.
– At 10:35 p.m. Wed-nesday, a man said he was driving on Pershing near Centennial Park when he was rear-ended by a vehicle that fled .
– Police were called at 10:27 p.m. Wednesday to the 1000 block of Cleveland Street to check the well-being of a male who was possibly having thoughts of harming himself. The residence appeared vacant.
– An officer on patrol on East Pershing near Penn at 9:22 p.m. Wednesday saw several people possibly arguing. Everything was OK.
– A East Third Street woman reported at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday she was walking her dog on East Fourth when her dog dragged her across the street to another property where another dog was. She believed she may have been scratched by the other dog when her arm went through the fence. The owners of the other dog said their dog never left the fenced area and was on a chain that prevented the dog from reaching the fence. The officer observed that the woman broke off a piece of fence and believed that likely caused the scratch.
– A neighbor dispute was reported at 7:57 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of East Fourth. The caller said first that she was angry with the neighbor over garbage but then said she believed she was threatened. An officer found no threat made and both parties were told to stay away from each other.
– Travis Faulkner, 27, of 585 Columbia St., was charged with driving under suspension and failure to comply after a traffic stop at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday on North Lincoln Avenue. The officer on patrol saw the vehicle with a driver known to have a suspended license. K-9 Simon was deployed and indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor both in the vehicle and on currency recovered at the scene. Faulkner was taken to jail. Additional charges may be pending, according to police.
– A Continental Drive resident reported Wednesday someone stole the license plate from her vehicle.
– Police responded to the area of New Garden Avenue and the railroad crossing at 5:49 p.m. Wednesday for a report of three juveniles on the railroad tracks. They were told the dangers of loitering around the railroad tracks.
– A neighbor dispute was reported at 4:53 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Washington Avenue. A woman said she was told a neighbor had written a threatening letter to her, but she had not actually seen it.
– A woman in the 500 block of Woodland Avenue reported at 3:44 p.m. Wednesday neighbor kids threw rocks at her new front porch. The kids who denied throwing rocks at the porch but said they had thrown rocks on the sidewalk. A contractor’s sign was also missing, which the kids denied any knowledge of .
Goshen Police District
– Earl B. Calvin, 69, Canfield, was cited for right of way at stop signs following a two-vehicle crash in Green Township at 9:11 p.m. Aug. 5 in which he was eastbound on Roller Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at Lisbon Road, colliding with a southbound vehicle driven by Madelyn Gabrielle Harter, 18, Salem. Both drivers were taken by Green Township EMSto area hospitals.
– Tyler Michael Fickle, 22, Youngstown, was charged with driving under suspension, fictitious plates and loud exhaust following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 62 near Knauf Road at 11:13 p.m. Saturday.
Perry Township
– A Depot Road resident at 1:32 a.m. Thursday said a former friend has been text messaging and calling non-stop for the past few weeks. They were not threatening messages, but she had told the former friend that she was no longer interested in speaking to them. Police attempted to contact the person multiple times, but the voicemail was not set up.
– A possible impaired driver in a blue vehicle was reported in the area of North Ellsworth Avenue near the four-lane, but the vehicle was not found.
– Police were called to the 900 block of Canterbury Lane at 9:11 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a male who allegedly exposed himself to two kids.
– A domestic in progress was reported at 3:24 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Benton Road. It was determined to be verbal only. The female half said she was going to a nearby relative’s residence for awhile to cool off. The report will be forwarded to the county prosecutor’s office for further review.
– Township police stood by with a Salem unit who was on a traffic stop at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday on West State Street until other Salem officers could clear and assist.
FIRE CALLS
Salem
– Firefighters were notified at 7:37 p.m. Wednesday by a concerned citizen about illegal burning in the 600 block of East Third Street. The resident was found burning vinyl fencing and furniture. The fire was extinguished and the open burning laws were explained as much as possible due to language barrier.
– Smoke was reported at 7:19 p.m. Wednesday by a resident in the 800 block of Summit Street, but nothing was found.
POLICE AND FIRE
County Sheriff
-Danielle Bowers, Walnut Street, Rogers, reported Monday she suspects someone she knows of putting Karo syrup in her vehicle’s gas tank. She said this person has also stalked her, and she wanted to know how to go about obtaining a protection order.
– Mia Sheets, Carbon Hill Road, East Palestine, reported Monday her ex-boyfriend took some household items that belong to her. The deputy advised her this was a civil matter and also told her to seek East Palestine police’s help in recovering the items since the boyfriend lives in East Palestine.
-Don Wilson reported over the weekend someone rammed the gate at Magneco Metrel, state Route 154, Negley, but they did not appear to have made it onto the property.
– Carrie Mattevi, state Route 172, Lisbon, reported hearing a loud bang or gunshot near the Sparkle supermarket on state Route 45, Lisbon, at 12:15 a.m. Sunday. Deputies spoke to neighbors who heard the noise but were unable to locate the source.
-The Lisbon Fire Department contacted the sheriff’s office after being called about people burning trash, yelling and riding scooters on Center Avenue, Lisbon, at 2:12 a.m. Monday. Deputies arrived and determined Colton Adams was the one burning trash and allowing people to ride ATVs on his property. Adams was told people were trying to sleep and prepare for work, so he agreed to stop.
-County jail inmate Nathaniel Baker was arrested for resisting arrest at 3:15 p.m. Monday after refusing to comply with the requests of staff and deputies to return to his cell. Baker was yelling and making demands and refusing to cooperate. After being warned he would be shot with a stun gun, Baker calmed down and was handcuffed. While being led to his cell Baker attempted to sweep his leg in a way to take down one of the guards but was subdued. A deputy then shot Baker with a stun gun and he was escorted the rest of the way to an isolation cell until he calmed down, all the while calling the deputy names and threatening to harm the deputy’s canine partner, Jesy.
Highway Patrol
– After stopping a vehicle on state Route 7 in St. Clair Township for no license plate light, a trooper said the driver, Shana M. Perrenoud, 30, state Route 170, Rogers, was found to have a felony warrant out of the sheriff’s office and was taken into custody. Asked if she had anything on her, she admitted having a needle in her pants and was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments.
– Duncan L. Hildebrand, 18, Sprucevale Road, East Liverpool, was southbound on Fairfield School Road in Elkrun Township at 10:20 a.m. Friday and went off the right side into a mailbox and utility pole. He was cited for failure to control.
– Maureen E. Crawford, 66, state Route 172, Lisbon, was eastbound on state Route 172 in Hanover Township at 11:40 a.m. Monday and went off the right side into a ditch. No citations were issued.
– Ashley N. Coy, 27, East Lake Road, Lisbon, was northbound on state Route 164 in Fairfield Township at 11:50 a.m. Monday and went off the right side into a traffic sign. She was cited for failure to control.
– Eli Robert Page, 18, Winona Road, Homeworth, was eastbound on Winona Road in Knox Township at 3:43 p.m. Sunday and hit a tree in the road.
– Dylan Joseph Hrivnak, 21, South Main Street, Columbiana, was southbound on Lusk Lock Road in Elkrun Township at 11:10 a.m. Aug. 1 and went off the right side into a tree. He was cited for failure to control.
– Elvira M. Ward, 30, Lake Street, Beloit, was eastbound on Georgetown Road in Butler Township at 6 a.m. Thursday and hit a deer.
– Gary Lee Wilms, 76, Leetonia Road, Leetonia, was northbound on Leetonia Road in Fairfield Township at 9:55 a.m. July 31 and went off the right side into a ditch, a culvert and a utility pole. He was cited for failure to control and taken to the SRMC with serious injuries.
– M. Gordon Nathaniel, 28, 18th Street Heights, Wellsville, was making a left turn off of state Route 39 onto Terrace Drive in Yellow Creek Township at 9:40 a.m. July 30 and struck Diana M. Beam, 26, Washington, Pa., who was in the process of passing him at the time. Nathaniel was cited for driving on the left side.
Lisbon
-Police were asked to back up a sheriff’s deputy called to the Hornsby House at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday in regard to a possible assault. The deputy advised police of what Johnathan P. McCauley told him, and McCauley, 18, ended up being charged by police with obstructing police business.
– Emily Teny, Moore Street, reported Monday someone tried to break into her apartment, noting the living room window screen had been pulled out and bent. She reported hearing a noise at 2 a.m. but did not get up to look.
Columbiana
– Police checked on a barking dog complaint on South Elm Street at 9:13 a.m. Monday. There were no problems.
– A North Elm Street resident reported at 9:52 a.m. Monday he and his wife took their gun on vacation with them, and his wife was pretty certain she brought it back and put it inside the home and hid it. However, they couldn’t find it and wanted to make a report just to be safe.
– Kristie Covert, South Main Street, reported at 12:43 p.m. Monday her car was scratched and dented on the passenger side while at her home.
– Police warned the owner of dogs at 230 S. Elm St. of a barking dog complaint at 5:34 p.m. Monday.
– Police assisted Beaver Township with a traffic stop on state Route 164 at 10:32 p.m. Monday.
Perry Township
– Police responded at 10:29 p.m. Monday to Lake Avenue for a report of domestic violence, finding a son was arguing with his girlfriend when his mother tried to calm him down. He then began yelling at his mother and threw her across the back yard. The son and girlfriend were both gone when police arrived. The mother was told to call police if he returns.
– Gary Guappone, of Apple Street, reported at 11:47 a.m. Monday that his aluminum ladder was stolen from the rear of his shed. The ladder was hanging on the rear of his shed and locked with a combination lock.
– No citations were issued and there was no damage to either vehicle after a two-vehicle accident at 6:33 a.m. Monday at West State Street and state Route 45. Mackenzie Whitten, 24, of Alliance, was eastbound and stopped at the traffic light on West State Street when Charlie Middleton, 30, of Louisville, also eastbound, struck the rear of her vehicle with his vehicle. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
– Police on patrol at 3:11 a.m. Monday located two vehicles parked on Pine Lake Road at Egypt Road with multiple people on the road. Police spoke with the people who just wanted to check out the bridge. They were told they were trespassing on private property and were asked to leave, which they did without incident.
Salem
– A custody issue was reported at 9:36 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue where a grandmother was attempting to return her grandkids to their father but no one would answer the door. The juveniles said their father had changed the locks to the doors and they had no way of entering the residence. Officers advised the grandmother to contact Children Services in the morning and explain the situation. The grandmother took the children back to her residence for the night.
– A possible missing juvenile was reported from the 1600 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:38 p.m. Monday after being dropped off at the high school earlier in the day. The officer gathered information and shortly after leaving the residence was notified the juvenile was located by family members at the high school.
– Police responded at 7:20 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of Hawley Avenue for a well-being check on three juveniles. Officers made contact with the juveniles and they all said they were fine. Their father was also at the residence and said they were not having any problems at the home.
– Police responded to the pool at Centennial Park at 6:44 p.m. Monday for a reported theft. The pool manager said two females said they would not be getting into the pool, then got in and refused to pay the $7 fee when asked. The manager said the two had done this before. Officers located the two people, an adult female and her small child and her juvenile sister on South Union Avenue, and spoke with them, asking the pool manager to respond to the scene to speak with them as officers explained a theft offense and jail to the older sister. The manager arrived and said they could pay the pool fee and they were no longer welcome at the pool. The female agreed to pay the fee but did not have the correct amount, so the manager said for her to stop by and pay the fee the next day.
– A person to be removed was reported at Walmart at 5:37 p.m. Monday. An officer was advised two people were sleeping in their car and the manager wanted them to vacate the premises. Officers advised the people that it is the right of the store to have someone removed. They left.
East Liverpool
– Susan Goodballet, Moore Street, reported her grandson, Dillon T. Dellapenna, 19, address not listed, came in wanting to stay for the night, and when told no by his aunt Amy Risbeck due to his past behavior, he reportedly picked up a charcoal grill and threw it. The grill cut Risbeck’s wrist, and Dellapenna reportedly punched and choked her then took off up the road. He was charged with domestic violence.
– While on patrol, an officer reported seeing a vehicle sitting on West Fourth Street in an empty parking lot near a suspected drug location. A short time later, the officer saw the same vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, rolling through several stop signs from Fourth to Fifth streets and pulled it over. The driver, James E. McKahan, 37, no address listed, reportedly admitted to the rolling stops. As the officer headed back to his cruiser with McKahan’s license and insurance papers, he stopped and looked through the rear window of his vehicle, and reported seeing McKahan placing unknown items into the sleeve around the emergency brake. He was removed from the vehicle, where two hypodermic syringes were found in that area, with a burned spoon recovered beside the driver’s seat and crack pipe from the console. McKahan was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia.
– Virgil Boggess, Avondale Street, asked to have a man removed from his basement.
– Officers responded to a request from a woman on Holiday Street who was moving out and wanted her truck from her boyfriend. He returned the truck to her.
– A tire flew off a vehicle on state Route 11, jumping the median barrier and striking a northbound vehicle. No injuries were reported, but both vehicles sustained damages. Names of the drivers were not complete on reports.
St. Clair Township
– Christopher Farnsworth, 44, Fenton Street, and Margaret M. Riley, 52, Fenton Street, were both charged with petty theft after reportedly selecting numerous items at Walmart, scanning some, but not all, at the self-scan checkout and leaving without paying for merchandise valued at more than $35.
-Juan A. Moore, 44, Broadway Avenue, Wellsville, was charged with petty theft after reportedly concealing more than $69 worth of items from Walmart in his shorts pockets and leaving without paying.
– A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle, possibly while in the Walmart parking lot. No names were listed on the report.
– A manager at Radio Shack reported an irate customer threw his cell phone, striking a shelf and causing merchandise to fall, with the phone nearly striking the manager when it sailed past.
– Brandy Williams, Rural Lane, reported receiving harassing phone calls from a man she knows.
– Officers responded to an Annesley Road home for a report of a father finding a man in his 18-year-old daughter’s bedroom. There, Jason Young said he found the man lying on his daughter’s bed after she left for work and had no idea how he got into the house. Contacted, his daughter said they are just friends and the man was having a hard time at his own house, so she told him he could stay the night and stay in her room until she returned from work at 4 p.m. The man was removed.
– Donald G. Jones, Echo Dell Mobile Home Park, reported receiving text messages asking him to donate to the Bill and Miranda Foundation, so he sent a $100 money order, then learned it was a scam.
Wellsville
– Police were called at 1:25 a.m. July 24 to the fire station for a woman in distress. Upon arrival, an officer overheard the dispatcher advising someone to “stop that” and later came across the woman in the fire department bay area leaning against a fire truck and banging her head on the wall. The woman, who later identified herself as 20-year-old Jocelyn Birch, attempted to push an officer away but was taken down to the ground. Another officer placed Birch in handcuffs. According to officers, Birch appeared to be intoxicated and possibly on some type of drugs. She then sat at the rear of the fire truck, but upon sitting down, she threw her head backwards and struck her head on some metal equipment attached to the truck. Crews from Ambulance Services Inc. were called to the station. She was taken to East Liverpool City Hospital for evaluation.
– Donald Roth, Aten Avenue, reported at 12:33 a.m. July 29 that he was receiving threatening text messages from who he believed to be someone he knew. Roth said he received the messages after asking his ex-girlfriend about their son. Roth stated the person, using the child’s mother’s phone, said he would break into Roth’s home and beat him or kill him. The two had fought the previous day. Roth was advised to seek a protection order.
– Police were called around 10 a.m. Aug. 2 to the parking lot of McDonald’s following an accident. According to reports, David Garrett of Youngstown was backing out of a parking space when he struck a vehicle driven by Darrell Baumgarner, McCormick Run Road, Salineville. Little visible damage was observed.
– At 1:51 a.m. Tuesday, Tawnya Nixon, Wood Street, reported that when she came home, she noticed her 2005 Honda station wagon had its back drivers’ side window broken. The drivers’ side door was also left partially open. Nixon was advised to contact police if she eventually noticed any items missing.
Lisbon
-The fire department was called to a traffic accident at the intersection of Riffle Road and state Route 154 in Elkrun Township at 8:54 p.m. Monday that reportedly involved two vehicles and a camper.
POLICE AND FIRE
County Sheriff
– Jonathan Gullett, McKaig Road, Hanoverton, asked deputies to check on his son at a home on Beacon Light Road, Lisbon, at 11:24 p.m. Monday. Deputies went out to the house, which appeared in good condition, but no one answered the door. Gullett claimed the fact that there was no answer meant his son was kidnapped by his mother, whom he lives with. Deputies explained it might just mean it is midnight and reasonable people are sleeping. Gullett then said he was considering going to the home and hurting someone, which deputies warned him against doing.
Lisbon
– A neighbor reported seeing someone enter Tara’s Beauty Shop, Exchange Street, at 11:07 p.m. Friday, but it turned out to be to a relative of the owner.
– Marsha Lanfried reported there were two vehicles parked by the mausoleum in the cemetery at 11:13 p.m. Friday. It turned out the occupants were playing Pokemon Go and they were advised the cemetery was closed, so they left.
– Tracy Gilmore, East Washington Street, reported at 3:13 a.m. Saturday he and his wife were assaulted while sitting outside their home. They said an unknown man ran into the yard about an hour before and began punching them in the face before running off.
– A burglar alarm was going off at the Green Street home of Thomas Page at 11:09 a.m. Thursday. No one was home but a vehicle registered to the owner was parked in the driveway. The house was found secure.
– Police responded to a loud music complaint at 9:35 p.m. Friday and the persons agreed to turn down the volume on the music.
– Police responded to the area of the Steel Trolley Diner at 2:43 a.m. Sunday in regard to a group of customers who had been thrown out because they had been fighting with other patrons. Police caught up with the group in the Save A Lot parking lot and they said they were leaving because the other people were wanting to fight. The driver was not drunk, as the caller had suggested, and they were told to stay away from the diner for the rest of the night.
– A driver for Paul’s Taxi reported dropping off a customer at her home on North Market Street at 6 a.m. Saturday and she never came back outside to pay the fare. Police ended up filing theft charges against Sherrie Jo Moore, 52.
– Municipal Court Judge Chris Amato called at 2 p.m. Thursday to ask for an officer to administer a breathalyzer test on an unnamed person. The person tested 0.18, which is legally drunk, and was found in contempt and sentenced to jail.
– Police were called to the Valley View convenience store at 6:52 p.m. Friday, where they found George Mort standing in the street screaming unintelligible things. After Mort calmed down he told police someone in white face had frightened him, so he hit him. Police went in the store and located the victim, who was not wearing a mask, and he declined to press charges. Police gave Mort a ride back to his apartment at the Hornsby House and told him to say there until he calmed down. Police were later called to the Hornsby House at 8:14 p.m. because Mort was acting out of control. Mort, 42, charged at police when he saw them, screaming and flailing his arms before punching one of the officers in the shoulders with both fists. He was arrested for assaulting a police officer.
– Gerlinde K. Bailey reportedly sideswiped a Jeep driven by Angela R. Beadnell while turning into the parking lot at the county government services building at 12:13 p.m. Monday.
– A caller reported someone was riding a skateboard on state Route 154 at 10:40 a.m. Monday. Police located the person, who was told to confine his skateboarding to the side of the road and not to weave in and out of traffic.
– The newspaper boxes were knocked over and the newspapers strewn about outside the county government services building at 9:12 a.m. Monday.
– Jennifer and Michael Schnellar reported Monday they were walking on Chestnut Street about 8:30 a.m. when someone they know called them stupid idiots and threatened to take them down.
– A caller reported someone was banging on the roof of the person’s motor vehicle at the corner of East Lincoln Way and Jackson Street at 11:19 p.m. Saturday. Police found all of the windows were broken and located Cameron Hurst sitting inside. Hurst, 22, of East Liverpool, had an odor of alcohol about him and was cited for being in control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then given a ride by police to a friend’s home on state Route 154.
– Taylor Siefke reported her car had been struck by another motor vehicle in the First Christian Church parking lot at 1:16 p.m. Sunday and she exchanged information with the other driver, Michele McCulley.
– County courthouse security officer Alan Shaffer asked police to administer a breathalyzer test on a woman who entered the courthouse on Thursday and who Shaffer detained because he believed she was drunk. Police administered the test and there was no indication she had been drinking.
– A caller reported at 10:09 p.m. Thursday a white man was pacing back and forth in front of the house on West Washington Street that had caught fire the week before. It turned out it was a neighbor and everything was fine.
East Palestine
– At 9:11 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a call from East North Avenue for a domestic disturbance. The man was leaving with some of her belongings.
– A Howell Avenue resident reported at 9:25 p.m. Sunday someone destroyed their mailbox.
– At 7:47 p.m. Sunday, Angela Hacker, West Clark Street, called to file a report that her neighbor, Timothy Tonkinson’s dogs keep jumping over her fence and menacing her. The dogs only leave her yard after she yells for Tonkinson to get them.
Columbiana
– Breanne Hull, North Middle Street, called at 9:25 a.m. Monday to file a protection order against her boyfriend due to something he put on social media.
– Thomas Goodlin called Monday regarding fraud and theft involving Kimpel’s Jewelry.
– A rape that occurred Sunday night in Mahoning County was reported Monday.
– A gray car with a dog inside and the windows up in the Dutch Village Inn parking lot was reported at 12:28 p.m. Monday. When an officer checked, the windows were down.
– At 6:06 p.m. Monday, it was reported that Mary Spiker’s car jumped the curb on the east side of Burger King and struck the building.
– A parking complaint was made about a vehicle facing the wrong way in front of Paul’s Cafe at the corner of Friend Street and South Main at 6:33 p.m. The driver was given a citation.
Salem
– An Ohio Avenue man reported at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday his nephew came home impaired on marijuana. Officers spoke to the boy.
– A woman reported her boyfriend hurt her during a domestic at their home on Rose Avenue Monday night. There was apparent redness and bruising on her. Charges are pending.
– Police responded to South Broadway near Columbia at 11:51 p.m. Monday for a report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance. Several people were playing Pokemon Go, but no disturbance was located.
– A caller at 8:08 p.m. Monday reported a dog was left outside all day without water in the 800 block of West Perry. The dog had been taken inside prior to officers arriving. The owner told police she makes sure the dog has water throughout the day.
– Kids were reported climbing in monuments at Hope Cemetery at 8 p.m. Monday. They were gone when police arrived but the caller identified one of the youths and officers located him and the others at a nearby home. They were told the error of their ways and a parent advised he would take corrective action.
– A West Wilson Street man spoke with an officer at 7:40 p.m. Monday regarding custody of one of his children. He was told it was a civil matter.
– People smoking week near or in Centennial Park was reported at 6:55 p.m. Monday. Officers located them but did not detect any type of suspicious activity or evidence of illegal drug use.
– An East Seventh Street woman reported at 4:14 p.m. Monday someone in a white van took a photo of her home. She was told to call back if the vehicle returns.
Perry Township
– A neighbor dispute was reported at 6:16 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Prospect Street in Salem Acres. Police were told the confrontation was verbal only. Both parties were told to avoid each other as best they can.
– A man reported Monday that within the last two weeks the registration sticker was stolen off his vehicle while on West Perry Street. He said Columbiana police had stopped the vehicle about a week ago and told him he needed to file a report in the jurisdiction where the theft occurred.
– A woman reported at 9:32 a.m. Monday a debit card was stolen from her purse on July 8 while she was working at Blossom Nursing Home. The bank has reimbursed her for the fraudulent transactions.
St. Clair Township
– Christopher Heaton, Kelly Avenue, discovered Monday someone had entered his home. No detailed information provided.
– Officers responded Monday to Walmart of reports of an intoxicated male sitting on a bench outside of the store. The man, from Salineville, denied drinking but dozed off while being questioned. As he was being taken to the ambulance. a woman approached, identified him and said he was dropped off to buy a money order. When asked if the man had been drinking, the woman stated he had three “tall boys” that day, but added he also is addicted to pills. The man was taken to ELCH.
– A Duke Road man reported July 30 hearing a loud gunshot and upon exiting his residence saw an vehicle near his driveway leaving at a high rate of speed. He found a shotgun shell near his mailbox. He requested extra patrols of the area.
— A Dale Street man was taken July 28 to ELCH after being found lying on the floor of his home. Police had to use force entry to get in. The man said he had been in that position since the previous day.
– Madelene Owens was charged with theft for allegedly trying to take $39.30 worth of items from Walmart.
East Liverpool
– Kimberly Shannon, East Fourth Street, reported Monday money was taken from her apartment at Riverview Towers between 2-10 p.m. July 23. The door was unlocked.
– Shawna Brooks reported Monday a rear, side window at her aunt’s home on Erie Street was broken to gain entry. Medication was missing. Brooks requested extra patrols.
– Latriece Plumley, West Fourth Street, reported Monday two Samsung chargers taken from her home.
Lisbon
– The fire department responded to a smoke alarm at the Fleming House on Rose Drive at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday. The alarm is located near the stove and was activated by someone cooking.
