POLICE

County Sheriff

– Deputies responded Friday morning to Rock Camp Road in Madison Township for reports of two men in a vehicle selling air fresheners. The vehicle was located on East Liverpool Road, and the men said they work for Kirby vacuum cleaners and were going door to door, selling products. They were advised that residents believed they were suspicious due to recent breaking and entering incidents. They went on their way.

– Jennell Bolton, Depot Street, Rogers, reported Saturday morning he found the window broken out of his garage, with two chainsaws and a chopsaw missing. The total value of the saws was estimated at more than $900.

– Tim Stowers, Givens Road, Lisbon, reported Saturday afternoon suspicious males going door to door, selling Kirby sweepers, saying they would not take ‘no’ for an answer and being rude. Deputies located the vehicle at County Airport Road and advised the occupants of the complaint, but one of the men, Brandon McGrew, denied that he or his employees were rude to anyone. They were advised to move on.

– William Chludzinski, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported Saturday finding a personal check lying by the roadway near the end of his driveway. The $80 check was signed by a woman from Birch Road, East Liverpool.

Highway Patrol

– While southbound on state Route 170, Jessica L. Pickens, 34, state Route 170, Negley, reportedly crossed over the double yellow line, striking a northbound vehicle driven by Christopher R. Seman, 48, Bye Road, East Palestine. Pickens was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center by Negley Fire Department while Seman was transported to East Liverpool City Hospital by East Palestine Fire Department. According to reports, Pickens left the hospital prior to the officer arriving to speak with her and phone numbers provided by the hospital for her had all been disconnected. The officer did locate her work number, but Pickens was not there. She was charged with a lanes of travel violation.

East Liverpool

-An officer reported Thursday seeing a vehicle on North Shadylane being driven by William E. Martin, 37, Smithville, and knew Martin had a suspended driver’s license. After Martin parked the vehicle, the officer asked about his driving status, and Martin confirmed his license was suspended. The officer reported Martin and the vehicle smelled strongly of marijuana and said Martin admitted having smoked marijuana earlier. A digital scale with white residue was seen in the driver’s door pocket. Martin was cited for driving under suspension, and the scale was seized to be sent for testing.

Salem

– Police responded at 6:27 a.m. Saturday to an alarm activation in the 900 block of Benton Road. The exterior of the building was checked and found secure.

– Police were called at 5:32 a.m. Saturday to the 600 block of Ohio Avenue for a well being check for a person sitting in a running vehicle for several hours. An officer found a man asleep in the vehicle. He said he was finishing listening to something on the radio and must have fallen asleep a few hours before. He was in his own driveway and entered his residence.

– A city officer at 5:31 a.m. Saturday assisted Perry Township police on a traffic stop in the 1100 block of West State Street. The driver was over the legal limit for alcohol and taken into custody by the township officer.

– A reckless vehicle was reported at 5:20 a.m. Saturday on West State Street/Benton Road, but wasn’t found.

– Police were called at 4:10 a.m. Saturday to the 400 block of East Third Street to check on a female threatening to harm herself. She said she was having a problem with her roommates. Fire department first responders and an ambulance were requested and she voluntarily was transported by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center.

– An officer on patrol at 3:38 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of East Pershing Street saw a suspicious blue Jeep parked in the Reilly Stadium parking lot with two people inside. The male and female said they were waiting for a cab patron. The male was a new cab driver and was told he needed to have cab markings. The person had not shown up yet. The driver said he would go pick up the markings to put on the vehicle.

– A harassment complaint was reported at 3:09 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of East Third Street where a woman who was intoxicated said her roommates were bothering her. All were told to go to their designated rooms and leave each other alone for awhile.

– A woman from Ridgewood Drive arrived at the police station at 1 a.m. Saturday and said her juvenile daughter recently separated from her boyfriend and now he’s posting unwanted pictures of her daughter in text messages. The reporting officer made contact with the male juvenile and told him in the presence of his guardian to cease and desist his actions. The matter will be sent to the department’s juvenile officer.

– John D. Gbur, 48, of 622 Park Ave., was charged with domestic violence and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called to his residence for a domestic dispute at 12:56 a.m. Saturday. According to the report, Gbur got into a physical altercation with his cousin and allegedly punched the victim and then wrestled him to the ground, causing both of them to fall down the cellar steps. Police had been to the residence earlier at 12:11 a.m. for a domestic. A female said she was struck in the face by her boyfriend and alleged he threw a beer can at her. No marks were observed on her. The boyfriend said he did not hit her and that he grabbed a beer can from her and crushed it, causing the beer to spill on the floor. Another male at the residence said the same, that he grabbed the beer and it spilled on the floor. He didn’t see any violence. The male and female both lived there and refused to leave.

– Officers checked the area of Kelley Park for a report of shots fired at 9:16 p.m. Friday, but didn’t locate anyone.

– Police were called at 8:10 p.m. Friday to the 200 block of South Union Avenue for a report of a male juvenile threatening to harm himself. EMT and fire department first responders arrived and the boy was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center.

– A caller at 8 p.m. Friday reported a vehicle struck a mailbox in the 1200 block of Jennings Avenue, but the vehicle could not be found.

– While in the 2400 block of East State Street, an officer at 7 p.m. Friday took a report from a Jefferson Avenue resident regarding identity theft.

POLICE

County Sheriff

-Bonita Gray, U.S. Route 30, East Rochester, reported Thursday her ex-boyfriend has been sending her harassing text messages, saying he wants them to get back together, with the last message indicating he was going to stop by. The deputy attempted to contact Steve Hein but was unsuccessful.

– Joe Newlin, McKee Road,Wellsville, reported there was a suspicious vehicle in the area at 12:13 a.m. Thursday, but deputies found nothing out of the ordinary.

– Harold Feezle, owner of the Rollerena Auto Sales, state Route 14, Unity Township, reported at 5:53 a.m. Friday catching Sam Masters and Hunter Joy on his property. They were taken into custody and charged with criminal trespassing.

– Carter Vandyke, state Route 45, Madison Township, reported Thursday receiving threatening calls from his brother and his brother’s girlfriend. He was advised to seek a protection order and come to the office to fill out a formal report.

– Evan Scheel, Edward Circle, Columbiana, reported Friday neighbors have been parking on the street, hampering the garbage truck’s ability to do its job. He did not know if there were signs posted advising motorists not to park on the street, and the deputy will look into it.

– Toni Gibson, Taylor Road, Negley, reported Friday being scammed out of $2,000 when she attempted to purchase an RV through Craigslist. Gibson said the alleged seller arranged for her to make a $2,000 down payment in the form of eBay gift cards. The seller then told Gibson she needed to continue sending gift cards at the rate of $2,000 per day until the balance was paid in full, at which point she became suspicious and contacted eBay and learned this was a scam.

Highway Patrol

– Dwayne F. Butream, 69, state Route 172, Lisbon, was westbound on state Route 172 in Hanover Township at 6:34 p.m. Thursday and Kevin W. Courtney, 43, Speidel Road, Hanoverton, was southbound on foot on Baker Road near the state Route 172 intersection and Butream made a right turn and struck Courtney. No injuries were reported, and Butream was cited for lanes of travel.

– Vickie A. Powell, 60, Main Street, Wellsville, was southbound on state Route 39 in Washington Township at 11 a.m. Sunday and went off the right side into an embankment and a traffic sign. She was cited for failure to control and taken to the East Liverpool Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

– Scott A. Owen, 57, Chester, W.Va., was northbound on state Route 11 in Fairfield Township at 6 a.m. Thursday and hit a deer.

– Kimberly S. Jones, 44, Prospect Street, Irondale, was northbound on state Route 267 in Madison Township at 6:21 a.m. Wednesday and hit a deer.

– John Allen Schmolly, 45, Darlington, Pa., was westbound on state Route 14 in Unity Township at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday and hit a deer.

– Jason P. Goldsby, 28, Buzzard Road, Wellsville, was northbound on state Route 45 in Madison Township at 5:46 a.m. Monday and went off the right side into a ditch. He was cited for failure to control.

Columbiana

– Myra Shablesky, Southern Terrace Park, reported at 10:33 a.m. Thursday she believed someone was near her trailer.

– Barb Roth, no address listed, reported at 12:10 p.m. Thursday she was involved in a verbal exchange with an irate driver on state Route 164.

– Erica Landsberger, no address listed, reported at 12:15 p.m. Thursday she was receiving harassing phone calls while at work on South Main Street.

– A Trailer America employee reported at 12:55 p.m. Thursday a trailer was stolen from the business back in 2013.

– Michael Baun, 31, Columbiana, turned himself in on a Columbiana County Sheriff warrant for trespassing stemming from incident at the 4WD Hardware on state Route 14 on Wednesday.

East Palestine

– A Stacey Avenue resident reported at 12:11 a.m. Wednesday someone was possibly in their basement. Police checked and found no one but believed the sound was due to a belt on the furnace making a noise.

Perry Township

– Police responded with Perry Township Fire Department to the 1100 block of West Perry Street at 10:35 p.m. Tuesday for a reported natural gas smell. The smell was determined to be coming from South West Fuels and a representative was contacted to check the tanks.

– Police responded with emergency medical personnel to a medical emergency in the 600 block of Brittney Lane at 4:57 a.m. Wednesday.

– An officer responded to a Highland West home at 12:12 a.m. Thursday after an ambulance service reported no contact with a patient after receiving a medical alert. The resident was found to be okay.

Salineville

– Craig McElroy reported at 9 p.m. Monday that two winning Ohio Lottery tickets were stolen. An investigation revealed that McElroy’s daughter, Meghan McElroy, and Jonathan White validated/negotiated the winning tickets at several grocery stores. Mr. McElroy reportedly did not wish to prosecute after learning his daughter was involved, and the two could face felony charges.

– Police were called at 6:16 p.m. Tuesday to a Water Street residence regarding a house fire. An officer made contact with the homeowner and stated that all parties evacuated the house and were safe. Fire crews arrived and took over the scene afterwards, with water and electric shut off to the residence shortly after.

Salem

– The manager of a West State Street business reported at 2:36 p.m. Thursday that the boyfriend of an employee who had just been fired entered the store and threatened her.

– An officer responded to a dispute in the area of East Fourth Street and Vine Avenue at 6:28 p.m. Thursday and found two men, one of which said that he was skateboarding and was almost struck by the other man’s vehicle while backing out of his driveway. The skateboarder was advised of skateboarding laws.

– Police responded to the 400 block of Fair Avenue at 11:33 p.m. Thursday where in reference to a man in dark clothing lurking in the area, but were unable to find anyone.

– Police responded to a Lexington Avenue apartment complex at 1:04 a.m. Friday for a report of loud persons in the parking lot. Officers were unable to find anyone outside, but were directed toward their apartment. No contact could be made.

– Police responded to the area of Sharp Avenue and West Wilson Street at 10:17 a.m. Friday where a mailman had slipped on ice and possibly broke his ankle. The mail carrier was transported by ambulance to the hospital and an officer stood by with the mail until a replacement carrier could arrive.

– An officer responded to a 1200 Southeast Boulevard home at 11:50 a.m. Friday where a resident reported someone overnight had forced open a window on her vehicle that had been held up by a rubber stop. The resident said nothing appeared to be missing, but that the window was now damaged.

POLICE

County Sheriff

– Randy Garretson, Applegate Road, Lisbon, reported at 1:41 p.m. Wednesday his mother’s ex-boyfriend called and harassed him. Deputies spoke to Michael Oats, who claimed he did not call Garretson and does not even have his phone number.

– Emily Scullion, North Market Street, Lisbon, reported at 2:32 p.m. Wednesday she was working at Consumers Bank in Hanoverton when a truck with a trailer struck her parked vehicle, damaging it. The driver, Lanon McKirahan, of Rushsylvania, Ohio, working for Enviro Core Co., had been taking core samples in the parking lot. He came in the bank and notified her of the accident.

– Kay McMillian of the county BDD reported at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday she saw a dead horse in a field on U.S. Route 30 west of Richey School Road. Deputies could see something in the field, but could not tell for sure what it was. The owner of the property, Dave Bernet, responded and checked the field with deputies. The object was found to be a partial round bail of hay, covered with white material, which was also partially covering limb debris in the field. There were no dead animals found.

– Randy Hoppel, McCormick Run Road, Lisbon, reported at 8:24 p.m. Wednesday he found an abandoned ATV on his property. It was hidden just over the hill in the field just out of sight of his home. The four-wheeler was a gray/blue Yamaha Timberwolf 4×4 with a red metal tool box on the front rack and miscellaneous tools inside.

– Megan Morrow, Guy Road, Lisbon, reported at 7:57 p.m. Wednesday she went to Luke Trimnel’s house to pick up her child at the court-ordered time and he was not there. While she was waiting, she said she received a text message from Trimnel telling her she was not going to get her child back Wednesday night.

– Samantha Shoemaker, Georgetown Road, Salem, reported at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday her mother was refusing to allow her to leave the residence. Deputies spoke to Stacy Mercer, who said she was concerned about her 22-year-old daughter’s well being after a breakup with a boyfriend.

– Shannon Courtney, Geiselman Road, Minerva, reported at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday her ex-husband Randy Courtney came to her home to pick up their three children, but the 6-year-old was running a fever and wanted to stay home. Randy Courtney reportedly became upset and pushed his way into the garage. She ran in the house and locked the door. He then allegedly was honking his horn and refusing to leave the property. Shannon Courtney’s mother came and told him to leave before deputies arrived.

Highway Patrol

– John Raymond Wilson, 29, Pancake Clarkson Road, Negley, was southwestbound on state Route 170 in Middleton Township at 8:30 p.m. Saturday and went off the left side into an embankment. He was cited for failure to control.

– David P. Murphy, 28, Hartley Road, Alliance, was southbound on South Mahoning Avenue in Knox Township at 5:16 a.m. Sunday and went off the left side into a utility pole and overturned. He was cited for failure to control and taken to Aultman Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

– Joshua C. Letchworth, 29, Jennings Road, Alliance, was eastbound on Buck Road in Knox Township at 11:20 a.m. Monday and stopped at a stop sign and was struck from behind by Gregory A. Myers, 38, Canton.

– Shirley A. Miscavich, 80, Mechanicstown, was eastbound on state Route 39 in Washington Township at 2:15 p.m. Monday and struck Frederick E. Huyghe, 77, Hammondsville, who was stopped waiting to make a left turn into a private parking lot. Miscavich was cited for failure to control.

Lisbon

– Police were called to a possible domestic dispute at 5 p.m. Tuesday on South Lincoln Avenue, where Henry Parks was talked into dropping the knives he was holding. Parks did not threaten anyone and said he only had the knives in the hopes police would shoot him. He was transported to a local hospital.

– Police were called to the homeless shelter on Maple Street at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday in regard to a phone harassment complaint from Kimberly Fields. Police spoke with someone by the name of Elisha, who said she quit contacting Fields after Fields told her to stop. Elisha was told not to have any further contact with Fields.

– Police were called to 845 N. Market St. at 9:15 p.m. Monday to stand by while an ambulance transported Kenny Haines to a local hospital.

– Jeremy Corbisello of Salem reported his Jeep was just backed into while parked in front of the barber shop on South Market Street at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday. Norma J. Mustake, McSwiggen Road, Salineville, was backing into a parking spot when she struck Corbisello’s vehicle.

– Francine Bryant, West Lincoln Way, reported at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday hearing people walking around outside her home. Police searched the area but did not see anyone around.

Columbiana

– Someone reported at 10:39 a.m. Wednesday that Michael Baun, an ex-employee of 4WD Hardware, was blocking the truck entrance at the business. Police told him to leave and that if he returned he would be charged with criminal trespassing. At 11:17 a.m., an employee reported Baun was back at the business. Baun told police at noon that officers were following him around and harassing him, at which point police told him that they were there because they had received calls from the business about him. At 1:16 p.m., Baun was cited for criminal trespass for going back on the property.

Salem

– A city housing inspector called at 10:20 a.m. Thursday for an assist with the towing of a vehicle in the 100 block of West Third Street.

– Police responded to Monroe Apartments at 8:14 a.m. Thursday to speak with a resident about some things she said she was hearing.

– A burglary in progress was reported at 4:07 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Jennings Avenue where a man said he heard someone inside his residence and when he yelled, he saw two people running north from his home. Police did not locate anyone matching the description given. The resident was unsure if he locked the door and said the key had been stolen recently. He advised officers of the items stolen.

– A woman in the 100 block of West Pershing Street reported at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday that she and her ex-boyfriend had an argument and he pushed her. Officers spoke with the male who said she pushed him but he did not push her back. Neither had injuries and they separated for the evening. They were told the procedure for pursuing criminal charges.

– Police were called at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday about an assault in the 500 block of East Pershing Street. A large group of people were outside waiting to be picked up from the skate center by parents when a juvenile female had been harassing another girl attempting to leave. The juvenile victim, who was friends with the girl being harassed, intervened and told the suspect juvenile to leave the other girl alone. The suspect juvenile reportedly began swinging wildly and striking the victim, who attempted to defend herself and struck back. During the altercation, an adult female, thought to be the mother of the suspect juvenile, attacked the juvenile victim, dragging her into the street by the hair and slamming her to the ground. Numerous adult and juvenile witnesses affirmed that the adult mother of the suspect assaulted the juvenile victim. The victim declined medical treatment. Further investigation and charges are pending.

– Police were called at 8:02 p.m. Wednesday to East Third Street for a possible drug overdose, at first being told the incorrect address, but then being told the correct address in the 900 block near Hawley. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance responded. Officers did not see any contraband or narcotics at the scene. The person who found the victim said another unknown male left before police were called.

– An officer on patrol in the 200 block of West State Street was flagged down at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday regarding a vehicle with its four-way flashers on in a local car dealership lot. No audible alarm was on and the gates surrounding the lot were secure. Dispatch was advised to contact the dealership.

– A possible domestic dispute was reported at 6:34 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Rose Avenue where a woman said she heard some people in an upstairs apartment possibly yelling. Police determined there was no dispute, just the upstairs neighbor speaking loudly.

– A possible shoplifter was reported at 5:57 p.m. Wednesday at Family Dollar, 239 W. State St. An employee said a male set off the sensors at the door and failed to stop for an employee. He left in a white vehicle.

– A possible scam was reported at 4:32 p.m. Wednesday by a resident in the 500 block of East Fourth Street who said he was receiving phone calls from a male asking for money. He was told to cease contact with the caller, with police noting it appeared the calls were a scam.

– A woman in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue reported at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday that a dog in an upstairs apartment had been howling off and on since the night before. An officer attempted contact, but nobody was home. The woman contacted the Columbiana County dog warden.

– A resident in the 500 block of Franklin Avenue reported at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday that an unknown person forced entry into his garage and removed numerous power tools. The theft occurred in the last couple of weeks.

– Gary Porter, 62, of Tanglewood Drive, was cited for failure to yield after his vehicle pulled from a private drive at Marc’s on East State Street and struck an eastbound vehicle driven by Pauline Quinn, 79, of Southeast Boulevard, at 2:04 p.m. Wednesday.

– An open door was reported at 1:42 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The interior was checked and appeared OK. The residence was secured.

– A woman in the 100 block of North Union Avenue contacted police at 10:49 a.m. Wednesday regarding an incident with her landlord Tuesday afternoon. A neighbor was with her when they talked about some issues with the apartment when the landlord allegedly pushed his finger in her chest and pushed her. He also allegedly called her several vulgar names and left the apartment. No marks were seen on the woman’s upper chest. An officer spoke with the landlord who denied allegations. Statements will be gathered and sent to the prosecutor.

– Police at 10:03 a.m. Wednesday responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue for a report of a dispute which occurred in the 400 block of Washington Avenue. A woman reported having physical altercations with her live-in boyfriend. She wanted him to leave. She was told she would need to legally evict him. She was also told to call if anything gets physical between them again.

East Liverpool

– Officers were advised Wednesday afternoon of drug activity on Princeton Street and responded, where they saw a van leaving the drug location. The van fled the area at a high rate of speed and was seen pulling into a driveway on Beechwood Street. The driver gave an identification and birth date that were found to be false. He was identified as Charles Bailey, 42, no address listed, and was charged with driving under suspension and falsification.

St. Clair Township

– Clarence J. Pugh, no address listed, reported his wallet fell out of his pocket at Sheetz and was turned in to an employee. When Pugh retrieved his wallet, he found $200 was missing. Officers requested surveillance video, and the investigation is continuing.

– Sandra K. Shultz, Melbourne Avenue, reported vehicles entered and items stolen.

– Dianna Stidfole, Cannons Mill Road, reported finding the neighbor’s dog, Petey, whom she classified as a “mutt” to officers, impregnating her two pure-bred dogs on her front porch. Officers reported that Petey’s owner agreed to buy him a larger chain, saying he is “just a friendly dog.”

Salem

– A resident in the 800 block of Franklin Avenue called the fire department at 1:08 p.m. Thursday for a report of a smoky haze in his basement. Firefighters found nothing showing on the exterior, but upon investigation, a sump pump had malfunctioned, causing light smoke and an odor in the basement. Power to the pump was removed and the homeowner was advised of the findings.

POLICE

County Sheriff

– Debra Leffell, 53, Hawkins Lane, Columbiana, and Jeremy Crihfield, 28, Continental Drive, Salem, reported at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday Crihfield was backing his mother’s car into a parking space at the end of the lot at the Pit Stop in Gavers when he struck the back rear corner of Leffell’s Jeep parked there. Crihfield said he has no license and no insurance.

– Deputies checked on Jeff Kleinknecht, Salmar Drive, Salem, at 9:51 p.m. Monday after his girlfriend called concerned about him. Kleinknecht told deputies his girlfriend lives an hour away and gets worried if he does not respond to her phone messages. There were no indications anything was wrong with Kleinknecht.

– Williams Athey, Front Street, Negley, reported at 11:34 p.m. Monday he heard a loud bang on his basement door and believed someone was trying to kick it in. Deputies spoke to other residents at the home, who said they did not hear anything and the door did not appear like anyone had tried to kick it in.

– Dana from Geisler Realty reported at 9:44 a.m. Tuesday the resident at Briarwood Lane, Columbiana, Jeremy Higbee, was evicted. Geisler changed the locks and took possession of the property through a court order. However, someone entered the garage where all of Higbee’s property was stored when he left them in the home. All the property had been taken.

– Ellen Whaley, Hillview Drive, Lisbon, reported at 8:25 p.m. Monday her son Walter Whaley was highly intoxicated and being verbally abusive. When deputies arrived he was highly agitated and bringing up things that happened in the past. He decided to go to the garage and calm down.

– Etta Milly, Scott Drive, Alliance, reported at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday her 16-year-old granddaughter left the house and she is supposed to be on house arrest.

– Sandy Reynolds, Desellem Road, Lisbon, reported at 1:43 p.m. Tuesday Michael Oats was at her home and she wanted him to leave because he was bringing alcohol around her boys. He started arguing with her stating he could not leave until he had a ride at 6 p.m., but she told him to walk. He then reportedly pushed her into a kitchen counter and her teenage son came in and told him to leave. Reynolds did not want to pursue charges, she just didn’t want him around there anymore.

Lisbon

– Robert White, North Jefferson Street, reported Tuesday receiving threatening and harassing calls from his brother. Police contacted Russell White, who said his brother is the one who will not leave calling him. The brothers were told to quit contacting each other.

– Heather Marcum, Pendleton Street, reported at 12:57 a.m. Tuesday her boyfriend kicked her out after an argument but she needed to return to gather some personal belongings to spend the night elsewhere. Police stood by while Marcum gathered her belongings.

– Jessica Phaup, West Washington Street, reported Monday her husband threw her cellphone, breaking it. Police said there was nothing they could do since the cellphone actually belongs to her mother-in-law.

Columbiana

– An Edgewood Court woman reported at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday her furnace was malfunctioning and a repairman was on his way but there was a gas smell in the home and she wasn’t sure how to shut it off until the repairman arrived. Firefighters were notified of the problem and went to check the home.

– Rory Altenburg, 42, Campbell, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on North Main Street at 3:52 p.m. Tuesday.

Salem

– Officers responded at 11:09 p.m. Tuesday to the 500 block of Aetna Street, along with sheriff’s deputies, to attempt to locate a man with an active warrant. Several people were there, but the resident was uncooperative and said the suspect was not present.

– Debris was reported in the road at 10:27 p.m. Tuesday on Southeast Boulevard where a small piece of asphalt was sticking straight up out of the road, causing a traffic hazard. An officer moved the asphalt to the curb lawn and left a note for the street department.

– A Boardman woman reported at 9:07 p.m. Tuesday she was harassed at her place of employment on the Salem Parkway. She already spoke to her superiors, but wanted a report on file.

– Loud music was reported in a vehicle on East Third Street at 9:03 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle was found in a driveway and an officer spoke with the driver, explaining the ordinance prohibiting loud music. He said he understood.

– An East Fourth Street man reported Tuesday he had been receiving calls from a male who claimed to be with Publishers Clearing House, but called Publishers Clearing House and found out the man is not an employee. He was told not to cooperate with the man.

– A Lexington Avenue woman on Tuesday reported having an altercation with her ex-fiance. He had been residing with her temporarily the past two weeks and left before police arrived. She said she wasn’t injured but he partially slapped her. She didn’t want to pursue charges but wanted the incident documented. The man was located later on Continental Drive and the domestic violence laws were explained.

– Travis Faulkner, 27, of 585 Columbia St., was charged with theft after allegedly shoplifting at a place on West State.

– Florence Huff, 61, of Andrew Avenue, was cited for improper backing/starting in the parking lot of St. Paul School at 5:32 p.m. Tuesday. She backed from a space near the kitchen entrance and struck the building. She then drove forward, striking a parked pickup owned by James Taylor, of Beloit.

– Smith Oil, 900 block of East State Street, reported at 5:06 p.m. Tuesday a female with light-colored hair driving a silver Chevy minivan pumped 11.8 gallons of fuel and left without paying.

– A woman in the 200 block of East Seventh reported at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday her vehicle was unlocked and it had been ransacked. She didn’t notice anything missing.

– An East Third Street woman reported Tuesday the lid to her trash container was stolen.

East Liverpool

– Arys Petties, 19, Wilbert Avenue, reported Carlos E. Lujano, 20, Warren, was playing Playstation at her home and she noticed he was friends with a girl. When Petties blocked the girl, Lujano reportedly got upset and broke her cell phone, slamming it on the ground, then grabbed Petties by the shirt and slapped her in the face. He was charged with domestic violence.

– Lori Reese, address not listed, reported Tuesday night that she and Kenneth P. Swoger, 56, Sophia Street, were fighting and she feared for her safety. Officers reported Swoger smelled of alcohol and was cussing at Reese. He was charged with intoxication.

St. Clair Township

– Officers responded Tuesday to Walmart for reports of a shoplifter, where store personnel reported a man selected items valued at more than $208 and left without paying. He went through the parking lot, where he was reportedly seen entering a vehicle driven by a female. East Liverpool police stopped the vehicle and reported seeing a man hiding in the passenger seat with just his bald head showing. He was ordered at gunpoint to stay inside the vehicle, while the woman was ordered to turn off the engine. Charged with theft was Isaac L. Lemasters, 46, while Tina L. Smith, 40, was charged with complicity to theft. Both are from Salineville Road, Salineville.

POLICE

County Sheriff

– KLG reported a combative patient at the Twin Oaks Mobile Home Park at 3:28 a.m. Saturday. When deputies arrived they found him to be totally unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital without incident.

– Sandra Sellway, Votaw Drive, Lisbon, reported at 11:45 a.m. Monday she signed an agreement for Nick Ault, doing business as All-That-N-More, to do some bathroom and kitchen remodeling. The work was to be done the day after Thanksgiving and she had paid a $600 down payment. However, the work has never started and she has now contacted Ault to inform him she no longer wants him to do the work. He has not returned her deposit and she has filed a small claims action in Columbiana County Municipal Court.

– Sue Reynolds, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported at 11:05 a.m. Monday her granddaughter, Melissa Anderson, took her vehicle after she told her she was not allowed. Deputies spoke to Anderson and warned her to return the vehicle or face unauthorized use of a vehicle charge.

– A 13-year-old boy at a home on McKaig Road, Hanoverton, reported he was afraid his father was going to harm him at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The boy ran off after his father started yelling at him for getting up late and missing the school bus. Deputies took the boy home and spoke to the father, who said the boy got up late and then without permission went to the neighbors’ home and told them his father sent him there to get a ride to school. The neighbor took the boy back home and when the father found out what he had done, he began to yell at him, causing the child to run off through the woods. The boy changed his muddy clothes and the neighbor took him to school.

– Betty J. Asher, 39, Market Street, Salineville, was charged with disorderly conduct after she reportedly failed to comply with orders to remain calm and return to her vehicle during the bomb threat at a Southern Local Monday afternoon.

– Heather Loyd, Brushville Road, East Palestine, reported at 10:59 a.m. Monday her daughter’s father has been texting and calling her since they split up more than 13 years ago. She has asked him numerous times not to contact her unless it is about their daughter. On Monday, he reportedly texted her about who was claiming their daughter on this year’s taxes and when she stated she was, he reportedly became upset and texted vulgar names. She wants no more contact with him.

Highway Patrol

– Matthew W. Smith, 30, Steubenville, was southbound on state Route 164 in Washington Township at 7:34 p.m. Sunday and hit a deer.

– James P. Campbell, 43, Rollercoaster Road, Lisbon, was northbound on Elkton Road in Madison Township at 1:50 p.m. Sunday and Cassandra Marith Mahoney, 27, North Market Street, East Palestine, was southbound and failed to negotiate a curve and went left of center into Campbell head-on. Campbell was cited for failure to control.

– Dorris E. Whittaker, 82, Bill Smith Road, Wellsville, and Brent A. Bonam, 31, West Sixth Street, East Liverpool, were southbound on Fife Coal Road in Yellow Creek Township at 1:10 p.m. Sunday and Whittaker moved into the northbound lane and attempted to make a right turn into a private drive and was stuck by Bonam. After impact Whittaker then went off the west side of the road into a ditch. Bonam was cited for failure to control.

– Dwayne E. Sheppard, 42, Mecca Road, Kensington, was eastbound on state Route 518 in Wayne Township at 12:40 p.m. Friday and John Jesse Dustin, 17, Steubenville-Pike Road, Lisbon, was westbound and Sheppard failed to negotiate a curve, went left of center and struck Dustin head-on. After impact, Sheppard continued off the left side into a guard rail and Dustin was forced off the left side into a ditch. Sheppard was cited for failure to control.

– Vickie L. Bucher, 63, Broadway Wellsville, hit a deer whijle driving on state Route 39 in Yellow Creek Township at 7:27 a.m. Monday.

– Austin K. Butler, 23, West Sixth Street, Salem, was eastbound on state Route 14 in Washingtonville at 8:23 a.m. Wednesday and Joshua L. Swanson, 28, Richey School Road, Hanoverton, was northbound on School Street and pulled from a stop sign and struck Butler. Swanson was cited for right of way.

– Sean Allen Shoaff, 26, Steubenville-Pike Road, Hammondsville, was eastbound on state Route 39 in Washington Township at 3 p.m. Sunday and went off the left side into a ditch. He was cited for failure to control.

Lisbon

– Lisa M. Carter, 45, McKaig Road, Hanoverton, was charged Monday with theft for allegedly stealing $28 from the purse of Jolysa Richards while they were in the waiting room at the Community Action Agency health clinic. When confronted, Carter reportedly pulled the money from her pocket.

– Robbin Seidner, West Lincoln Way, reported Friday his brother Jimmy was acting odd and left what he felt was a threatening message on his answering machine.

Columbiana

– Shasta J. Fraser, 32, of Vienna, was eastbound on Route 14 at 7:18 a.m. Monday and attempting to cross Route 7 when she struck Joshua Cooper, 15, Timber Run Street, New Waterford, who was westbound on Route 14 and attempting to turn left and failed to yield the right of way. He was cited for failure to yield making a left turn.

– A passerby reported a hit-skip in the Sunoco parking lot at 7:52 a.m. Monday.

– Lisa Zorella, Terra Verde, reported at 7:50 a.m. Monday her child was not wanting to get on the school bus.

– The Dollar General manager reported at 1:44 p.m. Monday someone paid for items using a $100 counterfeit bill on Sunday.

– A Columbiana High School employee reported at 2:22 p.m. a video projector was stolen from the building.

– A woman reported at 3:29 p.m. Monday someone in a red Ford Ranger on South Elm had a dead dog in the bed of the truck. Police did not find the vehicle.

– The highway patrol requested at 5:20 p.m. Monday police look for someone in a brown pickup northbound on state Route 7 from Rogers who was driving recklessly. Police did not see the vehicle.

– A man reported at 6:17 p.m. Monday a car and a utility trailer were oddly parked on North Middle Street near Stanton Avenue and he was concerned something was going on. Police checked and found someone was using a U-Haul to move from the residence.

Leetonia

– An officer responded to the 100 block of Pine Street for a parking problem at 8:28 p.m. Jan. 2.

– An officer assisted on a medical call in the 400 block of Somer at 3:32 a.m. Jan. 7.

– An officer responded to a West Main Street Extension home at 11:48 a.m. Jan. 7 for a report of a neighbor’s cow in the complainant’s back yard. The cow was returned to its owner without incident.

– An officer responded to an alarm activation at the Italian-American Club but found everything to be fine at 3:05 a.m. Jan. 11.

– An officer responded to an alarm activation at the library but found everything to be fine at 5:28 a.m. Jan. 12.

– A West Main Street resident reported on station at 10:53 p.m. Jan. 14 that his step-daughter’s boyfriend was at his home and he did not want him there. Officers responded to the home to talk to the step-daughter, but found no one there. An officer returned with a Washington-ville officer at 11:25 p.m. and advised the boyfriend he had to leave and not return.

– An officer responded to an Oak Street home at 12:01 a.m. Jan. 20 where the resident reported hearing noises outside the residence, but found no evidence of anyone having been there.

Salineville

– Tammy Johnson was arrested after reportedly taking a postal package off the front porch of an East Main Street home Thursday. Theft charges are being pursued, and the USPS will be notified.

– A boy who lives on High Street reported Thursday he is being harassed while at school. Police will speak to the other party. The boy and his mother were advised to get a protection order.

– Jesse Hollingshead reported Friday Nicol Richter took the tires off his car and put them on her car, and then put the old tires on his car and left the rear tires off. Richter said Hollingshead gave her the tires in exchange for money off a bill he owed her. She did not have any documentation of the exchange, and was told Hollingshead disputed her claim. Richter agreed to give the new tires back and said she would have to take Hollingshead to court for the unpaid bill.

Wellsville

– Misty Sue Rice was charged with theft last Thursday night after reportedly shoplifting two packs of Gillette men’s razors, valued at $32.50, from Family Dollar.

– Tremayne Davis, Eighth Street, was charged with theft after reportedly shoplifting a package of ground hamburger meat from Family Dollar.

East Liverpool

– Sherri A. Hull, 53, East Ninth Street, was charged Monday with theft after employees at Giant Eagle on Bradshaw Avenue reported seeing her concealing items in her purse and leaving without paying for them.

– Timothy White, no address listed, reported that, while his truck was parked on Sixth Street, a check was stolen from inside and used to pay a person’s water bill at 410 Blakely Street. He does not know the person who lives at that address, he told police. The matter was turned over to detectives.

– Lisa McDole, Vine Street, reported she purchased a cell phone for her daughter, who failed to pay money owed as agreed. McDole had service turned off for the phone and her daughter threatened to destroy it.

– Steven C. Schneider, 38, no address listed, was charged Friday with theft after reportedly taking two bottles of cough syrup from Giant Eagle.

– Krista L. Medeiros, Wilbert Avenue, reported her apartment entered Saturday and a 40-inch television and laptop taken.

– Robin J. Beitzel, Heights Manor, reported that, while her locked vehicle was parked on North Shady Lane, it was entered and someone took her wallet.

St. Clair Township

– Janet Birch, owner of Birch Realty, reported a real estate sign removed from property on Cannons Mill.

Salem

– Chad Behner, 31, of Mount Vernon, was taken into custody at 11:48 a.m. Tuesday at his place of employment on South Ellsworth on a warrant from Licking County for failure to appear. He was taken to the county jail.

– An officer following up on a call of a woman being locked out by her roommate found the woman standing outside the apartment at 9:51 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Walnut Street. She had gained entry but was upset over the male roommate wanting to throw her belongings out. The officer spoke with the male in another apartment and advised him how to evict her, noting her property couldn’t be damaged or her belongings put out in the hallway and she couldn’t be locked out since she had lived there for a year. Both were told to get along until she finds another place to live.

– A domestic was reported at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of East Seventh Street. A juvenile said his dad was intoxicated and scaring him. It was determined the man was in no shape to provide for the boy. Children Services was contacted. The boy was taken into protective custody until being turned over to the agency.

– A clerk at Smith Oil, 968 E. State St., reported at 6:54 p.m. Monday that the driver of a dark-colored SUV left without paying for $18 worth of gas.

– At 6:31 p.m. Monday, a man on West 14th Street reported losing his bank card. He was already taking steps to cancel the card.

– A woman in the 800 block of East Third Street called at 5:35 p.m. Monday to report a dog in her back yard. The owner of the dog, a neighbor, came over and said his juvenile daughter let the dog out by accident.

– An officer at 5:08 p.m. Monday checked the area of State near Ellsworth for juveniles throwing items at passing cars. Nobody was found.

– Several reckless drivers were reported at 4:56 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of East State, but the vehicles could not be located.

– A resident in the 500 block of East Third reported a breaking and entering at 12:58 p.m. Monday, noting a window had been removed where entry was gained.

– A city employee at 9:49 a.m. Monday found an open door on a business in the 100 block of East State. Police checked the interior and found everything OK.

Salem

– Firefighters were called at 8:15 a.m. Monday to Sanor Insurance Agency, 620 Columbia St., for a report of smoke coming from a heating unit and the electrical breaker tripped. The owner advised there had been smoke coming from the roof mounted heating unit. The unit was inspected and it was discovered there had been an electrical fire. The company that services the unit was notified to respond.

– A resident called at 3:21 a.m. Monday for assistance in removing a bat from a house in the 400 block of Woodland Avenue.

– While firefighters were standing by at 12:38 a.m. Monday for Ohio Edison to arrive at a call in the 500 block of East Pershing Street, where a vehicle struck a building and knocked off the electrical box, an odor of natural gas was detected in an alley. Columbia Gas was contacted, with no leak found.

Police

County Sheriff

– Venus Wittenauer, South Walnut Street, East Palestine, reported at 6:23 p.m. Sunday her father, Alfred Wittenauer, has been getting prescription pain pills from his girlfriend. The pills reportedly have not been prescribed to him and Wittenauer claims her sister, Valerie Rockenberger, is aware of it and has power of attorney, but does not want to do anything because she is concerned she will lose it. Wittenauer also believes the girlfriend is doing it to obtain money from her father. Deputies suggested she contact adult protective services. She also said she plans to call the drug task force about the pills.

– Martin Merrick, Rochester Road, Kensington, reported at 12:59 p.m. Sunday neighbor children were shooting at an old half-burnt house. Deputies found no children shooting.

– Duane McCauslin of the Frola Motel, state Route 45, Lisbon, requested someone be removed at 3:54 a.m. Sunday. Deputies contacted Scott Martin, Smithville, who said he gave Reva McCullough a ride to the motel, but she would not get out of the vehicle. After deputies were notified, she got out of the vehicle with her belongings, went into her room and Martin was able to leave.

– Brandon Smith, state Route 154, Rogers, reported a suspicious vehicle at the Rogers Sale at 10:14 p.m. Saturday. Deputies checked the vehicle, but no one was around.

– Deputies on patrol at 10:02 p.m. Saturday found a vehicle in the parking lot at Highlandtown Lake off Steubenville Pike and Osbourne Road in Washington Township. Charles H. Riffle Jr., 58, Center Street, Wellsville, was found to have marijuana and an open beer. He was cited with physical control.

– An anonymous man reported a protection order violation at a home on state Route 154, Lisbon, at 5:14 p.m. Saturday. Deputies found Kevin Secka sitting on the couch when Michelle Secka answered the door. She has a protection order prohibiting Kevin Secka from being there. He claimed she had been texting him and she picked him up from the Save A Lot in Rogers before bringing him to the house. Kevin Secka was charged with violating the protection order.

– George Maskaluk, state Route 39, Salineville, reported at 4:01 p.m. Saturday his temporary tag had either been lost or stolen from his vehicle. He had been to Kent State East Liverpool and Southern Local schools that day.

– Don Sturms, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, reported at 2:27 p.m. Saturday someone damaged his well pit lid. The lid is about eight foot long and weighs about 200 pounds. Sturms did not see anything happen, but saw tire tracks in the snow.

– Rodney Campbell, Union Avenue, Minerva, reported at 12:28 p.m. Saturday a Kia Soul was parked in a field. Deputies found the vehicle about 200 yards off the roadway. It had traveled through a wire fence and struck a wooden post. The driver’s side window was halfway down and the keys in the ignition in the on position, but the vehicle had run out of gas. Dispatchers contacted Sebring police. The owner of the vehicle, Susan Walton, also had her home broken into, which was discovered by Sebring police. The police requested deputies have the vehicle towed.

– Joyce Patrone, North Front Street, Negley, reported at 12:10 p.m. Saturday her boyfriend, Ross Ferguson, refused to return her pet bird. Deputies explained it is a civil matter.

– Herbert Roble, Metz Road, Columbiana, reported that Friday morning he found someone had broken into his 2003 and 1997 Honda Accords. Someone went through the glove boxes and center consoles, but nothing appeared to be missing. The vehicles had been unlocked.

– Chuck Biery, Woodsend Drive, Salem, reported a suspicious vehicle at 10 p.m. Friday. Deputies found a vehicle backed into a yard, but no one was around.

– Austin Needham, Spartan Road, Salineville, reported at 8:02 p.m. Friday someone parked their vehicle in his garage while he was not home and without permission. The vehicle was towed.

– Ali Gatrell, Guy Road, Lisbon, reported at 4:25 p.m. Friday she recently broke up with her boyfriend, Seth Swanson, and he has been harassing her. While she was speaking with deputies, he called numerous times. Deputies spoke with him and told him to cease.

– Dixie Apple, U.S. Route 62, Beloit, reported a domestic dispute at a home on Heritage Drive at 11:18 p.m. Saturday. Deputies spoke with Vickie Greenfield, who said there was nothing wrong, just her sons playing and yelling inside the house.

– Lakieshia Richardson, an employee of Quik Mart and More, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported at 6 p.m. Jan. 17 David Faloba was trying to pay for his gas when the pump did not work. He came inside and the clerk turned on the pump for him, instructing him to come inside after he was done pumping. However, after Faloba pumped his gas he reportedly threw up his hands and got into his vehicle to leave. Richardson then went outside and stepped in front of the vehicle to get him to come inside and pay, which he did.

– Jay Cochran, the Beaver Local bus supervisor, reported at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday there was something bloody, wrapped in clear plastic discarded next to the parking lot at the Beagle Club on Hammond School Road. Deputies found what appeared to be at least one deer carcass. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources wildlife officers were notified to investigate.

Lisbon

– Mike Hamilton called police Saturday to report a woman he spent the night with stole $30 from his wallet. Hamilton said the girl was named Sherry and she lives in the apartment above the H & R Block office on North Market Street, but she was not there and he did not know her last name or phone number. He said there were two other people at the apartment at the time, but he only knows them by their first names of Fran and Dave.

– Police were called to Shenanigan’s Pub at 1 a.m. Saturday, where co-owner Billy Jackson reported there was some kind of incident between Robert J. Shivers, 57, and Jeffrey L. Reynolds, 49, that resulted in someone being pushed to the ground. Reynolds refused to cooperate while being questioned, while Shivers was allowed to leave after fully cooperating. Jackson said he wanted Reynolds to be removed from the premises but Reynolds kept threatening to go back inside, insisting he had done nothing wrong. By then, a crowd had gathered outside, and Reynolds opened the door to go back inside when someone stopped him. Reynolds, who is from Leetonia, was warned if he tried to go inside again against the owner’s wishes he would be charged with criminal trespassing. While waiting for a ride, Reynolds began smoking a cigarette and then went inside the bar, with police in pursuit. He was charged with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct. During the ride to the county jail, Reynolds reportedly made comments about having sex with the officers’ girlfriends and mothers and calling them homosexual slurs. Once at the jail he had to be restrained while being booked.

– A clerk at Smith Oil reported Saturday there was a vehicle parked there for the past two days. Police ran a check and learned it was not stolen, nor were there any warrants for the owner. Police told the clerk the store was free to have the vehicle towed but police could not since it was on private property.

– The sheriff’s office reported at 3:34 a.m. Saturday that Michelle Hays was thrown out of a vehicle by her boyfriend by the Agland Co-Op business, and her father was looking for her. Police were unable to locate her but the father, Jeff Hays, called at 3:48 a.m. to say he had found his daughter and they intend to file a report, which would be with the sheriff’s office since the incident occurred outside of town.

– A clerk at Smith Oil reported at 9:23 a.m. Friday a man was outside asking customers for money because his car was out of gas. Police spoke to Charles Bailey, who told police he was trying to get money for a ride to his father’s home in East Liverpool. Bailey was told to quit asking customers for money.

Columbiana

– A man reported at 10 p.m. Sunday there were suspicious vehicles parked near where new houses were being built at the Back Bay area.

East Palestine

– Police were called to a burglar alarm at 319 Alice St. at 2:11 p.m. Friday. A search of the area around the home found no one on the property and police attempts to contact the homeowner were not successful.

– Stacey L. Schwemm, 44, West Martin Street, was cited for driving under suspension and high beam usage following a traffic stop on West Martin Street at 8:11 p.m. Saturday.

Salem

– Police were called at 8:29 a.m. Monday regarding four tires dumped in the the dumpster at Gordon Bros., 776 N. Ellsworth Ave., over the weekend. The garbage collector refused to take the dumpster due to the tires. The dumping is under investigation.

– Officers checked for a possible prowler at 6:33 a.m. Monday in the 600 block of Deming Street. No footprints were found in the snow around the property and no one was around.

– A person came to the station at 1:07 a.m. Monday to speak with an officer regarding an incident in the 300 block of West 10th Street.

– The owner of Salem Fun Factory, East Pershing Street, reported at 12:14 a.m. Monday a green Ford Explorer crashed into the building and several people left on foot. Police found extensive damage to the SUV, heavy damage to the electrical supply to the building and damage to the fire escape. The fire department, Ohio Edison and Columbia Gas were all called to the scene. It appeared the vehicle had been traveling in the alley. The fire report said the vehicle struck the electrical box and sheared off the electric meter and cover of the box exposing service wires and ripping electrical wires from the connection. Ohio Edison disconnected the service.

– A domestic was reported at 12:07 a.m. Monday in the city. Both said everything was fine and refused to cooperate with officers, closing the door on them.

– Christopher Plumlee, 34, last known address was East Third Street, was taken into custody on a warrant from Texas at 10:06 p.m. Sunday after an officer stopped a person on a bicycle on State at Broadway for an alleged violation. He was taken to the county jail.

– Austin J. Smith, 18, of Prospect Street, was cited for failure to yield after he exited a private drive and struck a southbound vehicle driven by Joshua Wharry, 33, of North Lima, in the 200 block of North Cunningham at 6:39 p.m. Sunday.

– Police were called at 5:43 p.m. Sunday to the 1000 to 1200 block of East Sixth/East Fourth for a report of numerous deer in the area, with one possibly injured. They were not found at that time, but about 30 minutes later, police saw several deer along East Sixth just east of Union. None appeared injured.

– Officers spoke at 5:10 p.m. Sunday to two people who had been given a prior warning for a junk vehicle in the 200 block of East Fourth Street. They were seeking an extension of time. They were told a note would be left for the officer who issued the citation.

– Dylan Ruby, 23, of Beaver, Pa., was cited for possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 4:28 p.m. Sunday on Sharp Avenue and West State.

– Kendra Chestnut, 27, of South Union Avenue, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 2:09 p.m. Sunday on East Pershing and Lundy.

– A resident in the 400 block of Aetna Street reported at 1:41 p.m. Sunday that sometime overnight, someone ripped the plastic tarp over the driver side window of his vehicle and went through the vehicle, trashing it.

– A reckless operator was reported at 1:23 p.m. Sunday in a truck with temporary tags at East State Street and Rose Avenue, but was not found.

– A welfare check was requested at 12:16 p.m. Sunday on a woman in the 800 block of East Sixth Street. Contact was made and she said she would call the relative who called for the welfare check.

Perry Township

– Police were called at 9:11 p.m. Sunday to a domestic in the 1100 block of West Perry. During the argument, the man allegedly broke a guitar on the floor and small pieces from the guitar may have struck an infant sitting on the floor. The woman grabbed the infant and left the apartment to call police and an ambulance to have the infant checked out. KLG Ambulance responded and found minor scratches on the infant’s head but did not transport. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review. The man left after gathering a few belongings.

– A Salem resident reported at 1:45 p.m. Sunday that he was staying at a friend’s residence on Pembrooke Drive when the back window was broken out of his vehicle. Nothing was missing.

– A domestic was reported at 12:03 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of West Perry where police learned the dispute was verbal only between mother and daughter over family issues. Both apologized and said they didn’t think they were being loud. They were told to keep the noise down.

– Loud music was reported at 12:01 a.m. Sunday on Elberon Avenue. The report said the music was barely audible outside the residence when police arrived.

– An assault was reported at 7:49 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the trailer park on Benton Road, but police learned no assault took place. A dispute and alleged threats had been made. Both sides were told to stay away from each other.

– Mary C. Browne, 58, of Lisbon, struck a deer on West State Street at 7:23 p.m. Saturday.

– Police responded at 7:14 p.m. Saturday to the 1500 block of Highland Avenue for a report of stolen items from a vehicle. The matter is under investigation.

– Police received a complaint at 6:18 p.m. Saturday of suspicious activity in the area of Elberon Avenue, possibly drug-related. No suspicious activity was found after police checked the area.

– Suspicious activity and a vehicle were reported at 5:16 a.m. Saturday at Salem Acres on Prospect Street, but nothing was found.

Washingtonville

– At 8:29 p.m. Jan. 17, police made a traffic stop on Davidson Avenue at High Street for driving under suspension.

– At 11:32 a.m. Friday, police assisted Goshen Township police with traffic control on state Route 14 near Lisbon Road.

– At 2:29 p.m. Friday, police checked on a reckless operation offense on West Main near Washingtonville Road.

East Palestine

– Firefighters responded to a fire alarm drop at the Meadows at Covington, 100 Covington Lane, around 4:15 p.m. Monday. Firefighters found no fire, but there was a water leak from a sprinkler head near the dining area. Fire crews were still investigating the cause of the leak in the roof of the building that afternoon.

Lisbon

– The fire department was called to 39331 Center Ave. at 2:26 p.m. Sunday in response to a furnace problem.

Goshen Police District

– Nicole C. Smith, 41, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash in Green Township at 11:31 a.m. Friday in which she was eastbound on state Route 14 approaching Lisbon Road and failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of a vehicle driven by Richard Spencer, 54, Florence, Ky. No injuries were reported.

– Alexis Rae Drennen, 31, Goshen Road, Salem, was cited for driving under suspension after an officer responded to a Main Street, Beloit, business at 4 p.m. Friday where a woman reported Drennen had struck her vehicle and then left the scene. Drennen was found at her home and admitted to driving the vehicle.

– Gail H. Murphy, 79, Damascus, was cited for right of way at stop signs in Damascus at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. She pulled from Valley Road onto U.S. 62 and collidedd with a vehicle driven by Curtis R. Smith, 31, Beloit.

– Thomas E. Shaw, Rogers, was cited with driving under suspension following a traffic stop at 5:10 a.m. Saturday.

– Jackie Cruz, East Palestine, was cited with driving under suspension following a traffic stop at 3:51 p.m. Saturday.

– Police were asked to check on a woman at a North Haven address at 5:33 p.m. Saturday. All was fine.

Salem

– At 9:54 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 2400 block of East State Street for a report of a possible intoxicated driver. Police checked a business where the person was, and the driver was not intoxicated.

– Police responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 8:21 p.m. Saturday where the complainant advised there was an irate man who was calm when police arrived. An officer spoke to his mother and advised her that store policy required identification for credit card purchases. She was very upset and advised multiple times but subsequently refused to accept what she was being told.

– At 7:05 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 900 block of East Pershing Street where a complainant said a dog was tied in the backyard for two hours. The owner said it had only been for about 10 minutes.

– At 6:05 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 800 block of East Fifth Street where the complainant advised a woman who previously rented there was in the residence and wasn’t supposed to be. She said she was gathering personal belongings and had not been legally evicted or served eviction papers. The officer determined it was not criminal trespassing.

– At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street regarding a dispute over property. The officer advised that without more specific proof of ownership of a television that was taken with a partially scratched-off serial number, he could not search the residence.

– At 11:06 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the North Lincoln Avenue and East Second Street intersection for a two-vehicle accident without injuries. Patricia K. Black, 1366 S. Lincoln Ave., Salem, was northbound on N. Lincoln Avenue and Joseph Rinko, 11478 U.S. 62, Salem, was southbound on North Lincoln Avenue when Black turned left onto East Second Street and struck his left front bumper. Black was cited for failure to yield at an intersection and both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Highway Patrol

-At 2:49 p.m. Thursday, Kenneth Flood, Rush Boulevard, Youngstown, was struck from behind by Nicholas Clark, Apollo Road, Kensington, while they were both traveling on state Route 164 in Center Township.

-Brian Watson, Y Camp Road, was traveling southeast on East Liverpool Road 4:50 p.m. Thursday when he lost control of his vehicle and veered off the left side of the road, hitting an embankment. He was charged with operating without reasonable control.

-Terry Casto, state Route 9, Hanoverton, was driving a Columbiana County Education bus headed westbound on state Route 517, when the bus was struck by a vehicle that was heading eastbound that went left of center. The incident is under investigation.

East Palestine

-Joshua Keenan, Saint Clair Avenue, was taken into custody on a warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s office at the home of David Houge, West Main Street at 4:37 a.m. Sunday morning.

Columbiana

-Ronald Deatley reported a case of fraud at Kimple’s Jewelry at 9:21 a.m. Friday.

-Virginia Holloway, Stanton Drive, was driving on East Park Avenue and was struck by Natalie Perez, Firestone Avenue, who failed to yield at a stop sign on South Elm Street at 10:53 a.m. Friday. Perez was charged with failure to yield.

-Police consulted a Whispering Pines Village resident who called regarding a phone scam at 12:35 p.m. Friday.

-Art Matheny called at 2:03 p.m. Friday to report a suspicious Honda that was seen pulling in and out of the Heck’s Restaurant parking lot.

-At 5:12 p.m. Friday, officers responded to an alarm drop at CompCo. When officers arrived, it was deemed an accident.

-At 5:37 p.m. officers responded to an alarm drop at Universal Percussion. Officers found it to be an equipment error.

-An employee of Barefoot Beach Tanning reported receiving harassing phone calls at 5:39 p.m.

-At 5:10 a.m. Saturday, Thomas Shaw, Rogers, was cited for driving under suspension at the Superior Beverage parking lot.

Salem

– At 5:56 p.m. Friday, police responded to a two-vehicle accident at West State and Elm streets where the vehicle operated by John Daugherty, 610 W. State St., was eastbound and sitting in the westbound lane on West State as if in the middle turn lane waiting to turn left. He turned in front of another vehicle that struck his, and he was cited for failure to yield.

– At 8:04 p.m. Friday, police assisted the Columbiana County sheriff in taking Paul E. Hoffee, 7263 Lisa Lane, Lisbon, into custody on an outstanding warrant. He told police that a wanted person was not at the residence and police found the person in there. Hoffee was charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest. He was taken to the county jail.

– At 11:53 p.m. Friday, police responded to a three-vehicle chain-reaction collision in the 1100 block of West State Street there no injuries. Mary Clark, 215 Clark Road, was cited for failure to maintain the assured clear distance.

– Kurt Robert Holloway, 20, Brookfield Avenue, Lisbon, and Devyn Rae Flory, 17, North Market Street, Lisbon, were northbound on state Route 45 in Center Township at 3 p.m. Tuesday and Flory slowed for traffic and was struck from behind by Holloway. Holloway was cited for assured clear distance.

– Ashley Marie Foster, 28, Bethel Park, Pa., was westbound on state Route 172 in Hanover Township at 8:16 p.m. Monday and went off the right side into a tree. She was cited for failure to control.

– Emily R. Taylor, 23, North Shadylane Drive, East Liverpool, was eastbound on state Route 39 in Washington Township at 10 p.m. Monday and went off the left side into a ditch and rolled over. No citations were issued.

– Orville C. Ritchie, 87, Metz Road, Columbiana, was northbound on Lower Elkton Road in Fairfield Township at 7:57 p.m. Wednesday and went across the southbound lane and then off the left side of the road into a ditch and field. He was cited for failure to control.

Columbiana

– A North Cross Street woman reported at 7:28 a.m. Thursday her fence was hit overnight.

– At 7:30 a.m. Thursday police received several calls about vehicles having been entered and items taken in the Cimarron Development and Hawkins and Pueblo lanes.

– Avery Sandoe, Union Street, reported at 10:46 a.m. Thursday he was receiving threatening text messages from his father.

– Mary Zimmerman, address not listed, reported at 9:51 p.m. Thursday she was being stalked by a man who was sending letters to her in the mail.

Lisbon

– Lori Donnalley, West Pine Street, reported at 8:55 a.m. Thursday two people were trying to get into her vehicle, and her husband was confronting them. Donnalley then told police she realized the people were from a repossession company and apologized for calling. Shortly after, Kevin Roush of the repossession company reported to police that they were being harassed at the address while trying to take the vehicle. Police stood by until everything calmed down.

– Dave Grunden, West Washington Street, reported at a.m. Thursday a GPS unit was reported stolen from his vehicle within the last few days.

Perry Township

– Police were aware of a warrant for Nicholas C. Carson, 37, of Salem, and saw lights on inside his residence on East Pidgeon Road at 6:06 a.m. Friday. Contact was made and he was taken into custody and transported to a pre-arranged location where he was turned over to a Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

– Shane Kibler, 25, of Salem, was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control after he reportedly swerved his vehicle on U.S. Route 62/state Route 45 to miss a deer and the vehicle ran off the right side of the road over a small embankment and became stuck at 11:24 p.m. Thursday. A tow truck pulled the vehicle out, but there was no damage to the vehicle.

– Police received an anonymous tip at 9:01 p.m. Thursday in reference to narcotics at an address on West Perry Street. The information was forwarded to the appropriate agency and township police assisted the agency with a check of the immediate area. No narcotics were located.

– Jesse Jackson, 36, of 1599 Grant St., Salem, was taken into custody at his residence on an outstanding arrest warrant from Columbiana County at 4:36 p.m. Thursday. He was transported to the county jail.

Salem

– An officer on patrol in the area of Granite Avenue and Liberty Street at 2:45 a.m. Friday saw a yellow Pontiac sedan with the dome light on. The vehicle was checked and found secure.

– While checking a business on Legacy Lane at 12:53 a.m. Friday, an officer saw a 2014 Ford Focus with the engine running and no one around. The officer shut the engine off and secured the door, placing the keys in the drop box in the service department.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 6:26 p.m. Thursday in a parking lot in the 2200 block of East Pershing Street. An anonymous caller said the black vehicle was sitting in the lot flashing its lights. Police did not locate the vehicle.

– Suspicious persons were reported at 5:09 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of East State Street. The area was checked several times, but the person was not found.

– Police were called at 4:41 p.m. Thursday to assist Perry Township with a warrant arrest, but upon arrival, the township officer already had the person in custody.

County Sheriff

– David Hostetter, state Route 170, East Palestine, reported at 2:04 p.m. Wednesday he was threatened over the phone by a man. Hostetter said he was recently struck by a vehicle while walking, and his attorney filed a lawsuit against the person. He said the person called him on Wednesday afternoon and told Hostetter he would die in a house fire.

– Melissa Knight, Mattix Road, Lisbon, reported at 6:54 a.m. Wednesday her 16-year-old son did not want to go to school and has done this in the past. Deputies spoke to the boy, who said he was not in the mood to go and it turned out was also having problems with an ex-girlfriend. He agreed to go to school.

– Brianna West, Miller Road, Lisbon, reported a domestic dispute at 2:14 a.m. Wednesday. She was reportedly talking on the telephone to a younger man and her boyfriend, James Nenichka, became jealous. There was some pushing and shoving, but no visible marks and West signed a refusal to prosecute. Nenichka reportedly had a warrant from New Castle, Pa., but they were not able to extradict.

– George Cunningham, state Route 518, Lisbon, reported at 9:21 p.m. Tuesday his son, Caleb Cunningham, 23, was out of control and throwing things around the house. The son also reportedly commented about killing the neighbor and threatened his family. He was transported to the hospital.

– Donna Campbell, Guy Road, Lisbon, reported at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday she heard a noise. There were no footprints in the snow out back.

Columbiana

– Robert B. Buckner, 47, Poland, was stopped on Heck Road at state Route 14 at 1:43 p.m. Monday and then moved forward for a better view of traffic and stopped and then moved forward again and stopped and was struck from behind by Michael K. Irwin, 50, Vienna, Ohio. No citations were issued.

– John Taylor, 74, Garfield Road, was southbound on North Main Street at 4:44 p.m. Wednesday and stopped at the state Route 164 traffic signal when Brenda Stockman, 46, East Woodland Avenue, who was also southbound on North Main, stopped at the traffic signal behind Taylor and was struck by Taylor when he began to back his vehicle to allow another driver to enter the road in front of him. No citations were issued.

– A woman reported at 8:49 a.m. Wednesday someone in a blue Lancer was driving erratically from Salem to Columbiana. Police found the vehicle parked at a Union Street home.

– A woman reported at 8:56 p.m. Wednesday there was a reckless driver eastbound on state Route 14. Police found the vehicle was having mechanical issues and stood by until help could arrive.

East Liverpool

– Catherine DeLong, Michigan Street, reported Wednesday her purse had been stolen from her car two weeks earlier and she had since learned her friend’s purse had been stolen from her car about the same time.

– Lacee Porter, no address listed, reported parking her vehicle in front of the YMCA downtown and hiding her purse underneath several blankets. When she returned, the purse was missing. She gave officers a description of a man who was walking by while she hid her purse. The report did not note whether Porter had locked her vehicle.

– Kent State security personnel reported Wednesday the west side of the building written on with a marker.

Salem

– A woman at 11:38 a.m. Thursday had a concern over a female at a home in the 600 block of East Third and requested a welfare check. Officers made contact with the female and her boyfriend.

– A woman reported at 6:49 a.m. Thursday that she received over 200 unwanted text messages in the past two hours from a man known to her. She wants no contact from the person, but he refuses to stop texting her. Officers contacted Lisbon police to make contact with the male at his residence and tell him to have no more contact with her.

– A resident in the 800 block of East Fourth reported at 4:10 a.m. Thursday three people attempted to enter his vehicles. They entered one vehicle and when they attempted to enter a second one, the alarm activated. They fled once they heard the alarm. He was unsure if anything was missing. Officers checked the area, but did not locate anyone.

– An alarm was reported in the 700 block of South Broadway at the Amvets at 2:17 a.m. Thursday. The building was found secure.

– A domestic was reported at 11:09 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of West 10th where a female said her ex-boyfriend entered her residence and started fighting with her. She had no injuries and just wanted him to leave. The male was located in the upstairs and advised that nothing physical happened. Both left.

– A man from the 500 block of East Euclid Street reported at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday that a suspicious male was possibly trying to gain entry into vehicles in the neighborhood. He confronted the male, but the male fled on foot.

– Officers responded to several locations to assist the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office in locating people wanted on active warrants. Two males were taken into custody at 8:23 p.m. Wednesday and taken to the county jail by deputies. They were Todd Allen Kirtley, of 408 S. Ellsworth Ave., and Mark A. Lewis, of 1094 Cleveland St.

– A man in the 700 block of North Ellsworth reported at 5:13 p.m. Wednesday a third party advised him that two known males made numerous threats toward him. Officers told the two to have no contact with the man.

– A woman on East Euclid Street reported at 3:42 p.m. Wednesday that sometime overnight, unknown persons unlawfully entered her property, walked down the drive and ransacked a truck parked there. Nothing appeared to be missing but the center console was opened and some items in the floor caddy were gone through.

– Daniel Elliott, 41, of 234 Washington Ave., was taken into custody on a warrant from Columbiana County for failure to appear. Elliott was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic stop at 2:29 p.m. Wednesday on East Third Street.

– Police responded at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday to Taco Bell, 1872 E. State St., where a black pickup backed up and struck a white fence that had just been repaired. The trailer hitch must have struck the fence as the truck backed into a parking space. An officer spoke with the owner of the truck who said he would take care of it with Taco Bell or have his insurance company handle it.

– A woman in the 800 block of East Third Street reported at 11:23 a.m. Wednesday that she checked her post office box for a package that was reported to have been delivered and it was not there. She spoke with the postmaster and he advised her to give it a few days to see if the package was located. She wanted it documented.

Perry Township

– Todd Blackburn, 47, of Boardman, was cited for assured clear distance after his westbound pickup struck the rear of a westbound car driven by Cathy Seigler, 57, who had pulled from a stop sign on Snyder Road and stopped due to oncoming traffic on Depot Road at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Minor damage was reported to both vehicles, which were driven from the scene.

– Police responded to the 400 block of Plymouth Place at noon Wednesday after a concerned neighbor located an open garage door and an open door into a residence. No forced entry was found. Officers checked the interior of the residence and nothing appeared out of order. The residence was secured and police left.

– Dawn Lazer, 56, of Salem, reported at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday that her southbound vehicle struck a deer on North Lincoln near the bypass. The vehicle sustained minor damage.

– Police were requested by St. Clair Township Police to contact the owner of a vehicle found in a creek with no one around. Perry Township Police contacted the owner in the 1100 block of Prospect Street and was told a family member had the vehicle. The information and a contact number for that person was passed on to St. Clair Township officers.

Salem

– Firefighters were called to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 12:17 p.m. Thursday for a cooking fire. The fire in the bottom broiler of an oven self-extinguished. The power and gas to the stove were shut down and the burnt food was removed. The range and immediate area were checked with the thermal imaging camera with no abnormal readings. The house was ventilated by opening the front and rear doors and the renter was told to contact the landlord to have the range serviced before using it again.

Columbiana

– A firefighter was called to check on the mulch in a flower bed at the Dutch Village Inn after an employee reported they smelled something smoldering. No fire was found and there were no problems.

POLICE

County Sheriff

– Michelle Jones, Grant Street, Lisbon, reported at 3:36 p.m. Tuesday she received a phone call from a man with a foreign accent claiming she had been approved for a government grant for $9,500, but asking her to send a $250 cashiers check to Florida to receive the money. When Jones started asking the man questions, he reportedly got upset, making threats to kick her rear and blow her up.

– Amanda Jett, Canal Street, East Rochester, reported at 9:42 a.m. Tuesday she believes someone is stalking her. She called the gas company when she found her gas was not working and the service tech came out to look at the problem, informing her someone had shut off her gas.

– Cindy Masters, Buck Road, Beloit, reported at 1:48 a.m. Tuesday her son had some friends over and she came out of the bedroom to find them drinking alcohol. She became angry and an argument erupted. Deputies talked to both Masters and her children until the situation calmed down and all the children went to bed.

– Keith Ernst, Buck Road, Salem, reported at 12:49 p.m. Friday there was a suspicious white Chevy pickup in the area. Deputies found the pickup in his driveway with two men inside the cab. The truck belongs to ECO Property Management and the two men were identified as employees of the company. They were there to check and make certain everything was winterized properly on the property.

Highway Patrol

– Joseph L. West, 83, Apache Lane, Columbiana, was southbound on state Route 7 in Madison Township at 10:30 a.m. Monday and went off the left side into a mailbox. He was cited for failure to control.

– Donald E. White, 58, Mattix Road, Lisbon, was southbound on state Route 164 in Wayne Township at 7:10 a.m. Monday and went off the west side of the road into a culvert.

– Nikolas Ryan Huff, 19, Osbourne Road, Wellsville, was southwestbound on state Route 518 in Wayne Township at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday and went off the north side into a ditch. He was cited for failure to control.

– Andrew L. Cunningham, 38, Failor Street, East Palestine, was southwestbound on Bye Road in Unity Township at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday and Michael Jay Gorby, 22, Vale Road, Rogers, was southbound on Adams Road and failed to yield from a stop sign and collided with Cunningham. Gorby was cited for right of way.

Columbiana

– Police were called to 162 N. Main St. at 1:36 a.m. Tuesday for a noise complaint. They were unable to make contact with anyone inside the home.

– Larry Starkey, New Waterford, was found to have an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office at 10:48 a.m. Tuesday during a traffic stop on Fairfield Avenue near Duquesne. He was also cited for no operator’s license and expired registration. He was then taken to the police station where he was picked up by a sheriff’s deputy.

– Todd Kirtley, New Waterford, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop on state Route 14 at 12:38 p.m. Tuesday.

– Police removed a club from James Donnalley’s vehicle on South Main at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday per the BMV.

– Verona Floyd of Youngstown was stopped eastbound on state Route 14 near the 4WD Hardware at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday when her FedEx vehicle was rear-ended by Zechariah Harris of East Liverpool. Harris was cited for assured clear distance.

Lisbon

-Kenneth Webush, East Washington Street, reported Monday he had helped his friend Paul Fink by letting him stay with him starting three weeks ago, and during that period Fink was to find a job, but that has yet to occur. Webush ordered Fink to leave, which he did, but Fink was later found in Webush’s car. The family resolved the situation by transporting Fink to a homeless shelter in Youngstown, and Fink said he was OK with that.

– Amanda Garretson, North Jefferson Street, reported Tuesday she was unable to contact Thomas Foley, who has her son, but he would not answer the door or phone. Police left a message for Foley, who returned the child. The couple were told they needed to get a visitation schedule in writing from a judge to avoid future situations such as this.

– Larry Cloud, West Washington, reported Mon-day having a dispute with his ex-girlfriend over an exchange of possessions. An arrange-ment was made for both to make the items available for the other to retrieve.

– An ambulance crew asked for police to meet them at the apartment of Kenneth Haines, North Market Street, at 7:32 p.m. Tuesday. Haines had contacted the ambulance company but he told them he was fine and did not need to go to the hospital.

– Sue Martin, Sunset Drive, reported at 6:38 a.m. Friday the motion lights in her garage keep coming on, and police arrived to find the garage secure and no one inside. Police told Martin she might have a rodent in the garage that is setting off the motion light.

– Jim Leake reported seeing the lights on inside the Church of Christ on North Beaver at 3:19 a.m. Tuesday. One of the church doors was found open by police but there was no one inside and the church appeared to otherwise be secure.

Salem

– A man in the 200 block of South Union reported that sometime between 5:30 and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, someone broke into his home by kicking in the garage door and stole a loaded 12-gauge shotgun in a case. Nothing else was missing

– Police were contacted at 4:13 a.m. Wednesday by the sheriff’s office to check a home on Bank Street after they received several 911 calls from there. Officers learned two small children were playing with the phone and made the calls.

– A woman from West School Street spoke with an officer at 1:06 a.m. Wed-nesday regarding telecommu-nications harassment, saying her stepdaughter and her stepdaughter’s boyfriend were harassing her via text messages. The office told them to quit it.

– An officer on patrol at Waterworth Park at the duck pond noticed a vehicle at 12:29 a.m. Wednesday. The driver was told the park was closed. He left.

– A custody dispute was reported at 8:23 p.m. Tuesday on Lexington where people involved were told the matter was civil. Both acknowledged this and one refused to turn over the children.

– Police responded to a parking complaint filed at 7:41 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of Washington Avenue. A parking ticket was issued.

– A man reported finding property in a parking lot in the 300 block of East State at 7:24 p.m. Tuesday. Contact was made with the business owner and the property was placed in the police lost and found. The report did not say what the property was.

– Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute at 6:47 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of East Third where two male residents had an argument. One left.

– Police responded to the 400 block of South Lincoln for a report at 5:53 p.m. Tuesday of 911 hangup calls. An officer went to the first of two locations, but no contact was made at the first one. A male in one of the apartments at the other location advised everything was OK.

– A woman on Fair Avenue reported identity theft at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday, telling police that three credit cards from multiple stores were opened in her name and had been used for up to $4,500 in charges in New York state.

– An unruly juvenile was reported at Salem High School at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday. The female had become disruptive during an after school event. She was taken to her residence and released to a parent.

– An unruly juvenile was reported on Lexington at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday, allegedly throwing things at her mother. The girl said she was with two boys who gave her four prescription pills to take. She was taken to SRMC.

– A resident in the 500 block of West Sixth Street reported at 3:59 p.m. Tuesday that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took $3 to $4 in change.

– A caller at 1:03 p.m. Tuesday reported a TV in the road at State and Cunning-ham. An officer found no TV, but there was a large amount of glass, which the officer swept to the side of the road.

– Jessica Roepke, 23, of Duck Creek Road, was cited for assured clear distance after she rear-ended a vehicle driven by Stephanie Daley, 41, of Seacrist Road, on East State at 2:03 p.m. Tuesday.

East Liverpool

– A man called police Monday to report he had not seen his girlfriend since Dec. 22, saying she is his dad’s primary caregiver. He called her workplace and was told she had just disappeared. Officers located the woman at her place of employment and she advised she had just ended a “horrible relationship” with the man, who now will not leave her alone. The man was advised of this and told to leave the woman alone or face being charged, but he asked whether he could file charges against her for the mental anguish caused by her leaving him. He was told this is not a criminal matter and to just cut his losses and move on.

– Jennifer L. Gardner, no address listed, reported that, while serving at the after school program at Woodland Hills, she had her cell phone taken.

St. Clair Township

– Officers responded Tuesday to a Duke-Vodrey Road residence for a custody dispute, where Brandy E. Sanders, 19, said she wanted to stay with her mother overnight and her boyfriend, Thomas E. Powell, would not allow her to take her 6-month-old child. She had the proper documentation show-ing she has full custody of the child, police reported. They reported that Powell said he wanted to go out and party with his friends and did not want Sanders to leave. She and the child left with an aunt.

– Officers were called to Walmart Tuesday for a shoplifter and charged Brittany M. Heffner, 26, no address listed, with petty theft, possession of criminal tools and criminal mischief. They reported she had placed items in store shopping bags and left without paying for them, also concealing some items. Heffner told officers she was shopping and began to black out and did not remember taking anything. They reported she had some health issues en route to the police station, and an ambulance was called to meet them there. She was evaluated and found to be OK, according to reports.

– Larissa Meyers reported losing her dark brown wallet at Aldi on Monday.

– Officers responded Tuesday to a report of an accident on Bell School Road, where a vehicle was found over an embankment. There was no one around, but officers located the driver, James A. Moore, 26, Echo Dell Road, who said he was northbound at 1:30 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a bend and went over the embankment. He was cited for failure to control and driving under suspension.

Salineville

– Police conducted a traffic stop around 6:16 a.m. Friday on West Main Street near John Street for a loud exhaust violation. The driver allowed a search of the vehicle to take place, to which a small plastic bag containing small pills – appearing to be prescription medications -were found in the center console. The pills will be sent for testing and charges against the driver are pending based on results.

– Police spoke at 1:45 p.m. Saturday to a Water Street girl who wished to stay with her boyfriend and not return home as her legal guardian requested. She told officers that conditions at home were not safe and that she was being kept home from school in order to babysit. Officers advised her to comply with her guardian’s wishes and return home, and the matter would be referred to Children’s Services.

– Police were called at 4 p.m. Saturday to the parking lot of the Church of Christ for a suicidal female. First responders arrived and calmed the woman down, who was upset over a domestic situation. She was then taken to a local hospital.

– Police were called around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday to a Water Street residence where Terry House was in medical distress. Officers found House responsive, and he was taken by Tri-County Ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

– Police were called around 4:16 p.m. Tuesday to a Salineville Road West home regarding the welfare of children living there. Officers, who noted that this has been an ongoing problem, arrived at the home and found that the parents, Isaac Lemasters and Tina Smith, were not at home. The children were in the custody of Tariq Larkins, who has an active warrant out of the pick-up radius in New Jersey for a probation violation for dangerous drugs. According to officers, Larkins was extremely angry that the officers checked on the welfare of the children and at first refused to identify himself, but later did. Officers noted the children were extremely dirty and scantily dressed, and the inside of the home was a complete abomination. A copy of the report was sent to Child Protective Services, as this is not the only referral sent to the agency regarding this matter.

Lisbon

– The fire department was called to provide lift assistance to a resident of the Twin Oaks trailer court at 9:54 p.m. Tuesday.

County Sheriff

– Suspicious activity was reported at a Rose Drive apartment at 5:19 a.m. Saturday. The person was reportedly going around knocking on doors. After speaking with Linda Sanders,deputies learned the wind has been blowing her door around lately. Deputies found no footprints on the ground.

– Robert Shirey, Y and O Road, East Liverpool, reported at 1:29 a.m. Saturday there were suspicious individuals in the area. Deputies found Joshua Gillimore and his brother walking on the road with bags of food in their hands. They told deputies they were kicked out of one of their girlfriend’s homes and were walking home.

– Deputies assisted Columbiana police looking for a person who fled inside the city at 2:34 a.m. Sunday.

– Mary Shroades, Dutchtown School Road, Rogers, reported at 2:22 a.m. Sunday her ex-boyfriend, Shawn Adams, has been harassing her ever since she broke up with him. She said he even has called her workplace and made a scene. Deputies were unable to reach him.

– Jack Waggle, of the End Zone, Washingtonville, reported at 12:36 a.m. Sunday there was an assault at a bar in Salem. Jared Coil’s face was severely swollen and he said he was assaulted at a Salem bar where someone stole his coat with suboxin in it, his wallet and phone. He wanted to go home, but his family coaxed him into going to the hospital. Salem police went to the SRMC to talk to him and there he claimed he had been assaulted while in Washingtonville.

Lisbon

– Jamie Brown, West Washington Street, reported she went to warm up her unlocked vehicle on Sunday when she discovered it had been ransacked. Believed stolen were a GPS device, some change and four $1 bills. Brown called later to say she found the GPS device under her vehicle seat, but the money was still missing.

Columbiana

– A Save A Lot employee reported at 8:45 a.m. Monday a customer was drunk and trying to get into his work truck for Dynamic Structures and was headed toward the city. Police found the truck parked in a private driveway and did not see any traffic violations.

– East Palestine police requested back up on a call at 100 N. Market St. in East Palestine at 6:42 p.m. Monday.

– Someone reported at 9:21 p.m. Monday a possibly intoxicated driver was headed into the city on state Route 14 from Washingtonville. Police checked the area but did not see the vehicle.

– A Quick Mart employee on state Route 14 reported at 10:49 p.m. Monday there was a possible shoplifting incident and they believed the suspect may still be on the property. Police checked but did not find the suspect.

East Palestine

– Randy Jay Fegert, East Clark Street, reported at 9:51 p.m. Sunday there was a disturbance with Holly Fegert at the home.

East Liverpool

– Macelyn Manley reported Monday someone is using her information and that of her daughter to obtain benefits through county programs. She believes the person obtained her information by going through her personal belongings while they lived together.

St. Clair Township

– Officers responded to Glenn Street Thursday afternoon to a 911 call about a man with a knife acting in a threatening manner. They reported that five neighbors said the man had come out onto his porch in his underwear, carrying a large kitchen knife, screaming and yelling about a man in a pickup truck. The man stabbed the knife into the wooden porch railing and held it to his wrist, also making stabbing motions with it, according to neighbors. He agreed to be transported to the hospital for evaluation.

– Called to the Summit Square Plaza for an assault Monday, officers reported finding Donald Dunfee Jr. and Jason Greenawalt arguing. An argument over a custody exchange had reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation, and an ambulance was called to evaluate Greenawalt. Dunfee claimed he was uninjured, according to reports. They were advised to contact the law director if they wished to file charges. The report included no ages or addresses for the two men.

– Officers responded to Walmart Thursday for a report of pedestrian struck by a vehicle. No other details were reported.

– Dispatched Sunday to Echo Dell Trailer Park for a strong smell and possible illegal burning, officers spoke to some neighbors. No other details were reported.

Wellsville

– At 9 a.m. Jan. 12, Mary Ann Homic, Clarks Mill Road, Hammondsville, turned into the McDonald’s drive-thru, slid into a sign and took it down.

– Michael M. Coe, Taggart Street, reportedly fled at a high rate of speed after a traffic stop for expired plates at 9:54 a.m. at McDonald’s on Lisbon Street. The chase went west on state Route 45 to Mick and Township Line roads before police him on Y&O Road. Coe was arrested at his home and charged with expired plates, speeding, reckless operation, driving with a suspended license and fleeing and eluding a police officer.

– Kari Daniels, 10th Street, reported Saturday her daughter was getting harassed at school and at home from her ex-boyfriend. Daniels said he hit her in the past, but the daughter talked her out of filing charges.

– Andrew Garth Allen reported at 12:35 a.m. Sunday two tires on his pickup were flattened while parked outside Tony’s Bar. He said a person named Trent may have been responsible.

– Alan P. Jakes Jr., 34, Main Street, reportedly fled at a high rate of speed when police initiated a traffic stop for failing to stop at a stop sign at Broadway and Ninth at 2:23 a.m. Sunday. Police said Jakes went through another stop sign before pulling over on 13th, getting out of the pickup and walking toward his mother’s house. Police said he had a strong odor of alcohol, was unstable and became aggressive when asked about his driving status. Open bottles of Crown Royal and Paramount Sour Apple Schnapps were found in the vehicle. Jakes was cited for open container, physical control, driving under suspension and a stop sign violation.

– Catherine J. Grodhaus, state Route 39, was backing out of a parking spot at Dollar General at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday when she collided with Tamara S. Brock, Commerce Street, who was pulling in. No citations were issued.

Goshen Police District

– A Garfield Road juvenile female reported at 12:10 a.m. Jan. 11 that anonymous accounts were made on Twitter and hateful things posted to them.

– A patrolling officer discovered an open door at a residence in the 14000 block of state Route 534 at 12:07 p.m. Jan. 11.

– A Stratton Road resident reported misuse of a PayPal/credit card account at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 11.

– An officer responded to a 15000 block Garfield Road home at 5:15 p.m. Jan. 12 for a report of identity theft.

– An officer responded to a 9000 block state Route 45 home to perform a welfare check at 5:51 a.m. Jan. 14. The resident said she couldn’t find her remote.

– A state Route 45 resident reported on station at 12:34 p.m. Saturday that his estranged wife had violated the terms of a protection order by using a friend of his daughter to pass information along to him and his family. He said she had previously been using a similar tactic of sending messages through his mother.

– Raymond Ortiz, 21, Youngstown, was arrested on an active warrant and charged with driving under suspension, possession of drug paraphernalia, fictitious plates and left of center following a traffic stop on Sunday.

Salem

– City police posted some advice on the department’s Facebook page Tuesday telling residents to lock their car doors and refrain from leaving valuables in their vehicles after noting several reports of unlocked vehicles being entered recently, including overnight. A woman on East Euclid called at 7:39 a.m. Tuesday to report nothing taken and no damage when her vehicle was entered. Another woman called at 7:34 a.m. Tuesday to report items moved around in her unlocked vehicle on Homewood. A woman on Aetna reported at 5:41 a.m. Tuesday that nothing was taken from her vehicle but items from the center console were spread out on her driver seat. She thought the doors had been locked but said they must have been unlocked since there was no sign of forced entry.

– Police responded to a complaint at 2:11 a.m. Tuesday of one to be removed from a residence in the 100 block of South Howard where a woman said a female acquaintance was pounding on her door wanting to be let in. She told the female she did not want her there. She was gone when officers arrived.

– An officer at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday saw debris in the road in the 100 block of North Howard and removed it.

– Daniel Haschak, 18, of Pearl Street, Leetonia, was cited for failure to yield and one way road after driving a vehicle westbound in an alley that is eastbound only, going through the intersection at North Broadway and striking a vehicle driven by Kimberly Papadeonise, 49, East Eighth Street, at 5:19 p.m. Monday. Papadeonise injured her neck on the seat belt but declined transport to the hospital by an ambulance.

– Police were called at 5:01 p.m. Monday to a business in the 500 block of East Pershing for a person to be removed. The juvenile was told he’s not allowed to return to the business.

– An audible alarm was reported at 4:54 p.m. Monday on Elm. Officers checked the building and left without incident.

– Todd Conduff, 52, of Aurora, was cited for assured clear distance after his northbound vehicle struck the rear of another vehicle driven by Glenn Morrow, 57, state Route 45, who was stopped at the light on Lincoln at State at 2:38 p.m. Monday. Conduff said his foot slipped off the brake. Morrow and his two passengers, ages 5 and 11, were all taken by ambulance to SRMC for treatment of possible injuries.

Perry Township

– Police responded at 9:42 p.m. Monday to the Fresh Mark parking lot for a hit-skip. Jordan Sheppard of Kent said her front bumper was damaged.

– A woman and her son reported being threatened by a female while at the Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Monday morning.

– Jacob Nicklin, 1100 block of West Perry Street, reported at 7:36 a.m. Monday that someone went through his unlocked vehicle. He didn’t believe anything was taken.

– An officer on patrol at 8:21 p.m. Sunday saw an open trunk on a vehicle parked at a residence on Devonshire Drive. The driver tried to secure the vehicle remotely and pushed the trunk release instead of the door lock button. The trunk was secured.

– Police were called at 7:51 p.m. Sunday to an apartment on Prospect Street where an unruly juvenile had locked himself in his bedroom. An officer spoke with both parties and advised the juvenile of the consequences if actions continued, after the officer gained access to the bedroom.

– An officer at 6:01 p.m. Sunday responded to a civil complaint over child custody in the 200 block of Plymouth Place. The man said the mother would not give him the kids. After telling both parents it’s a civil matter, the officer advised it would be in their best interests to adhere to the court documentation.

– Police were called at 11:15 a.m. Sunday to the 200 block of Lake Avenue where a man from Interlink Recovery Services said he had an order to repossess a vehicle, but the owner would not turn over the keys or move another vehicle blocking the driveway. After speaking with a prosecutor, the vehicle was removed by driving through the yard.

– Township police at 4:04 a.m. Sunday assisted Columbiana police in finding a burglary suspect who fled on foot. Columbiana police had the suspect’s phone pinged and found the location to be a relative’s residence on Prospect Street. Township and Salem police went there and placed the person in custody.

Lisbon

– Firefighters were asked to provide lift assistance at a North Market Street home at 6:06 p.m. Monday.

Salem

– Firefighters were called at 1:34 p.m. Tuesday to the Smith Center, 500 E. Fourth, for a smoke detector going off in an apartment. The detector was faulty.

Police

County Sheriff

– Tina Davis, Ellsworth Avenue, Minerva, reported at 10:25 a.m. Sunday someone used her Social Security number to file federal taxes in 2014 and she has been having her income tax held since that time. The IRS is reportedly investigating the matter.

– Cathy Kellogg, Whinnery Road, Winona, reported at 2:02 p.m. Sunday she had been living with Candace Miller, who told her she needed to leave. Kellogg left, but still had some items at Miller’s house she wanted to retrieve. Deputies told her to contact the courts to make arrangements to obtain the rest of her belongings.

– Elsie Cloud, Beech Street, Hanoverton, reported at 2:43 p.m. Sunday Ralph Altomare, who lives there, had put his hands around her throat and she struck him with a frying pan. Deputies did not see any visible marks on Cloud or Altomare, who had a slightly differing story, which also included him getting struck with a frying pan. Cloud was upset and angry, making comments about harming herself and Altomare, and making comments she was going to make up lies about the deputies. She was taken to ELCH by ambulance for evaluation.

– Courtney Barnhouse, Rose Drive, Lisbon, reported at 10:17 a.m. Monday her ex-boyfriend, Mike Roberts, has been calling and harassing her. She also claimed in the past he threatened to beat her up. Deputies told her to not answer his calls or respond to the text messages. When deputies contacted Roberts, he claimed Barnhouse has been calling and harassing his family. Deputies warned him to cease all contact with her.

– Lakieshia Richardson, Columbiana, reported at 11:34 a.m. Monday she dropped off her 15-month-old child to the father, Mike Spencer, on Friday and he took the child to the babysitter at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday when he had to go to work. She picked up the child at 11 p.m. Sunday and noticed the child had a black eye. When she asked about it, the father claimed nothing happened. The babysitter told her she did not notice the child had a black eye. It was possible it could have happened while her child was playing with other children the babysitter watches, but Richardson wanted a report on file.

– Caitlynn Nagle, Hazelview Avenue, Alliance, reported at 8:36 a.m. Monday her children were at their father’s house on U.S. Route 62 in Knox Township when she went to pick them up, but her mother-in-law would not let them leave with her. Deputies arrived and spoke to the children’s father, who said Nagle is moving to Cincinnati with the children and he just wanted to say goodbye to them. The children were given to their mother.

Highway Patrol

– Jeffrey P. Nutter, 56, South Market, Minerva, was northbound on Wayne Bridge Road in Wayne Township at 4:50 p.m. Sunday and Melissa Lynn Stoffel, 18, Route 45, Wellsville, was southbound. Nutter failed to yield the right half of the road and Stoffel swerved to the right but was struck by Nutter causing her vehicle to go off the right side of the road. Nutter was cited for vehicles traveling in the opposite direction.

– James E. Pisano, 26, Canfield, was southbound on Route 11 in Fairfield Township at 3:15 a.m. Saturday and went off the right side into a guardrail end. He was cited for failure to control.

– James Harold Hill, 55, Y&O Road, Wellsville, was southbound on Y&O Road in Madison Township at 6:37 p.m. Saturday and went off the right side into a ditch and rolled over. He was cited for failure to control.

– Paul N. Gearin, 59, state Route 9, Kensington, was eastbound on state Route 172 in Center Township at 10 p.m. Saturday and went off the right side of the road into an ODOT traffic sign and a tree. The coon box that was in the bed of the vehicle flew off onto the roof of a green Ford Explorer that was parked at a nearby home. Gearin was cited for failure to control.

– Ryan L. Maskaluk, 20, state Route 39, Salineville, was southbound on Cannons Mills Road in Madison Township at 10:55 a.m. Thursday and went off the right side into a fence. He was cited for failure to control.

– Thomas J. Carman, 59, Bell School Road, East Liverpool, was southbound on state Route 7 in Madison Township at 7:54 a.m. Wednesday and went left of center into Connie J. Foster, 45, state Route 7, Lisbon, who was northbound. After impact, Foster went off the right side of the road into a small clump of trees. Carman was cited for marked lanes. Foster was taken by STAT MedEvac to St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries.

Columbiana

– Penny Taggart, Firestone Avenue, reported at 1:56 a.m. Sunday her ex-boyfriend attempted to gain entry into her home by picking the lock on the door. Clint Geho, 34, Salem, was arrested for burglary, assault, unlawful restraint and theft of credit card. He is currently being held in the county jail.

– A woman reported at 3:16 p.m. Sunday there were five to six cars parked on the side of Seventh Street in a no parking zone. Police notified the owners of the vehicles who agreed to move from the area.

Lisbon

– Police were called to Applegrove Apartments at 7:40 p.m. Friday for a report of a private property accident. Police spoke to Krislyn Conrad, who said that while pulling out of the parking lot she hit a large rock in the grass, causing damage to her vehicle.

– Police were called to Applegrove Apartments at 4:31 p.m. Friday for a report of a man requesting to go to the hospital. The man told police he was having suicidal thoughts and felt lonely at his apartment. Police stayed with the man until EMS arrived to take him to SRMC.

– Police were called to the Church of the Nazarene on Market Street at 10:57 a.m. Sunday for an elderly woman having a seizure. Police found the woman sitting on her own and breathing and stood by until EMS arrived to take her to SRMC.

– Mike Ikert reported at noon Sunday he was working at Night Court the night before and his daughter’s medications were taken from his vehicle.

East Liverpool

– Officers responded at 7:51 a.m. Saturday to a Lisbon Street residence where they reported finding Michael F. Earich, 42, seated on a couch holding a white container to his nose and mouth. When he answered the door, Earich was reportedly sluggish in his movements and had slurred speech. They removed a razor knife from his front pocket, reporting that Earich had been combative and aggressive during past encounters. While attempting to search him for additional weapons, officers reported, Earich pushed Patrolman Rob Smith in the chest with both hands and during the ensuring scuffle, Smith pulled a muscle in his chest. After being handcuffed behind his back and placed in the cruiser, Earich reportedly stepped through the cuffs and, when officers opened the door, he kicked Smith with both feet and had to be forcibly taken into the police station. He was charged with abusing harmful intoxicants, resisting arrest, assault and two counts of obstructing official business.

– The owners of the Vista Motel, Edwards Street, reported a large hole in the drywall and damage to the paint in a room which had been rented by a woman from Toronto.

– Jesse Lyle, Denver Street, reported his daughter’s camouflage-colored purse taken from his Jeep which was parked in front of his house. Footprints around the vehicle appeared to be those of a woman or girl.

– While sitting facing east on West Fifth Street at a stop sign, a vehicle driven by Nicole R. Price, 29, Crestview Road, New Waterford was struck in the front end by an city school district bus driven by Marsha L. Pridemore, 49, Idaho Avenue. According to reports, Pridemore was making a left-hand turn from Market Street and cut the turn tightly. No injuries or citations were reported.

– While southbound on Elizabeth Street, Thomas V. Bryarly, 37, Shadyside Road, swerved to miss a deer that ran into his path. His vehicle struck a utility pole. He was transported to East Liverpool City Hospital by Tri-County ambulance.

St. Clair Township

– Michael J. Graham, 39, East Sixth, reportedly selected 20 items at Walmart valued at $111.44 and concealed them on his person. He walked out without paying for them and was confronted by store personnel outside, according to reports. He was charged with petty theft.

Salem

– A clerk at Smith Oil, 968 E. State St., said a man pumped an extra $4.98 worth of kerosene that he did not pay for and left westbound on East State Street at 8:54 a.m. Monday.

– Police were called at 8:53 a.m. Monday for a water line break in the 900 block of New Garden Avenue. A responding officer saw water flowing out of the ground and told dispatch to contact the water department.

– James Cross, West Eighth Street, called police at 6:17 a.m. Monday to report criminal damage to a motor vehicle. The owner was told to contact the insurance company about the incident. He didn’t know if anything was taken from the vehicle.

– Police responded to the 1100 block of East Ninth Street for an attempted suicide at 2:37 a.m. Monday, advised of the general area of the person’s location by Help Hotline, but unable to find the person. After further investigation, the person was eventually located at his residence on Aetna Street. Fire department first responders and KLG Ambulance came to the scene and the person was voluntarily transported to a hospital for treatment.

– An audible alarm was reported at 9:39 p.m. Sunday at a bank in the 2200 block of East Pershing Street, with police responding at the request of bank security to check the building. The exterior of the building was found secure.

– An anonymous person came to the police station at 4:08 p.m. Sunday with property found in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The property was placed in the police lost and found. The report didn’t give a description of the property or say what it was.

– Kenneth Ray Davis Jr., 18, of West South Range Road, was cited for marked lanes after a two-vehicle incident at 4:06 p.m. Sunday at Southeast Boulevard and South Madison Avenue. Davis was northbound on Southeast Boulevard and said his vehicle started to slide into the southbound lane. A 16-year-old male from Lisbon was traveling south on Southeast Boulevard when he noticed the other vehicle coming into his lane causing him to swerve off the road to avoid contact.

– A domestic was reported at 3:29 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of West Wilson Street where officers spoke with both people who advised they got into a verbal altercation, but no physical violence occurred. The male half was moving out and the female was having thoughts of harming herself. She voluntarily went with EMT ambulance to SRMC.

– Amy Hall, of the 500 block of East Seventh Street, reported at 3:26 p.m. Sunday that someone unknown entered her vehicle while it was parked in the drive and took several items. She was told her options.

– Jaylene Nelson, 20, of Prospect Street, was cited for a red light violation after her westbound vehicle on East State Street failed to stop for a red light at Broadway Avenue and struck a southbound vehicle driven by Helaine Mercer, 70, of South Lincoln Avenue, at 3:23 p.m. Sunday. Mercer was transported to SRMC by KLG for non-incapacitating injuries.

– A woman in the 400 block of Park Avenue reported at 2:21 p.m. Sunday that a former health care worker accidentally took home her car keys. She called the health care workers and she said she would bring them back when she got a chance. The keys had not been returned yet and she wanted it documented.

– An officer responded to Sparkl at 9:41 a.m. Sunday for a motor vehicle lockout, meeting a woman standing by a car who claimed it was hers and it was locked. A waiver was signed and the officer attempted to unlock it when the vehicle’s actual owner came outside and asked why the officer was there. The woman had gotten confused because her car looked just it. Hers was a few spaces down.

Washingtonville

– At 4:32 p.m. Wednesday, police cited a motorist for driving under suspension on West Main.

– At 11:37 p.m. Thursday, police assisted Leetonia police.

– At 4:02 p.m. Friday, police cited a motorist for driving under suspension at West Main.

Salem

– Firefighters were called at 12:47 p.m. Monday to Essex III, 250 Continental Drive, for an overheated motor. An employee reported a smell of fire and smoke in the laundry room. The area was checked with the thermal imaging camera and a faulty motor was found on a dryer. The power to the dryer was shut down and maintenance was advised to replace the motor.

– An odor of natural gas was reported in front of Salem Regional Medical Center, 1995 E. State St., at 12:37 p.m. Monday. Firefighters used a multi-meter to attempt to locate a source and Columbia Gas was notified to respond. When Columbia Gas arrived, it was determined the scene was safe.

Highway Patrol

– Hayley L. Foster, 29, East Martin Street, East Palestine, had to be cut out of her car after she went off the road and into a ditch while driving on state Route 7 in Middleton Township at 4:26 p.m. Tuesday. Negley firefighters used their Jaws of Life device to extricate Foster, who was taken to an area hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Foster was not cited because of the poor road conditions at the time.

– Michael B. Woods, 31, of Sebring, was cited for assured cleared distance after he drove into the rear of stopped vehicle operated by Lori A. Mudrick, 48, of Alliance, on U.S. Route 62 in Butler Township at 8:33 a.m. Friday.

Columbiana

– A caller reported there was a suspicious man walking between the Arby’s and Burger King plazas at 3 a.m. Saturday, but police did not find anyone about.

– April Leishman came to the police station at 11:08 a.m. Saturday to report being assaulted by Stephanie Oesterreich at a basketball game held at the Nazarene Church. Oesterreich indicated she had also been assaulted, but neither party wished to press charges,

– A ambulance driver reported that while traveling on state Route 14 at 10:32 p.m. Saturday someone in a silver Honda came up from behind and began flashing their lights. Police stopped the vehicle and cited the driver, David Suders of McKees Rocks, Pa., for driving with an expired license.

-A police officer reportedly backed into police department garage door at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Salem

– Police responded to a 500 block East State Street business at 7:31 p.m. Saturday where an employee reported a man loitering in the store without buying anything and that the man was believed to have stolen items from the store previously and was banned. The man said he was waiting for a ride home and was warned that he was not welcome.

– An officer responded to a 1400 block Quaker Lane home at 5:43 a.m. Sunday for a report of a vehicle left running in a garage for over an hour and found the vehicle partially inside the garage with no one inside. The officer spoke with the owner who said she was charging her cell phone and fell asleep, forgetting to shut the vehicle off.

– An officer attempted a traffic stop for a moving violation in the area of Southeast Boulevard and Kennedy Drive at 1:56 a.m. Sunday in which the driver failed to comply. The driver eventually stopped at the SRMC and said that his son was having a medical emergency. The son was taken inside and the driver warned against his actions.

– Police responded to the 500 block of Broadway at 3:07 a.m. where a woman reported someone during the evening had entered her unlocked vehicle and apparently went through the vehicle but did not take anything.

POLICE

County Sheriff

– Nichalous Steele, Glasgow Road, Lisbon, reported at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday he stopped at the Glasgow Carryout, ran into the store for a sandwich and when he came back out, his white 2004 Ford F-150 was stolen. Deputies checked the area, but did not locate it. On Thursday evening deputies were notified of a vehicle sitting on the side of Hibbetts Mill Road. Steele’s pickup was found and was towed. The matter is under investigation.

Highway Patrol

– Bryce A. Walker, 16, state Route 534, Salem, was cited for failure to stop an assured cleared distance after he drove into the rear of vehicle operated by Connie A. Sanor, 57, Mountz Road, Homeworth, on Rochester Road in Knox Township at 6:50 p.m. Thursday.

– Brian R. Spencer, 47, Maple Street, Washingtonville, was cited for driving left of center after he crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Russell L. Kolat, 30, of Struthers, on Lisbon Road in Salem Township at 8:35 p.m. Sunday. Kolat was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with possible injuries.

Lisbon

-Police were called to a domestic dispute on East Lincoln Way at 2:41 p.m. Wednesday which involved yelling and the parties throwing some items about, but not at each other. The couple calmed down and assured police everything would be fine.

– A clerk at the BP station reported a couple appeared to be arguing while sitting in a vehicle in the gas station parking lot at 4:56 a.m. Thursday. The couple was identified as Michelle Bryson and John A. Pinero, who were on their way back from Pittsburgh to Canton when they became lost. Pinero was found to have an arrest warrant for him out of Texas, but the Texas authorities were not interested in extraditing him. The couple were told how to get to Canton.

-Police were called to Apple Grove apartments at 3:45 p.m. Thursday to stand by while an ambulance crew transported a man threatening suicide to a local hospital.

Columbiana

– A caller reported at 4:38 a.m. someone had been sitting in a vehicle for over an hour with the engine running on Beechwood Drive? It turned out to be a man who was warming up his car for work but had fallen asleep.

– Alen James, 51, of Ravenna, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on state Route 14 near the McDonald’s restaurant at 9:26 p.m. Thursday.

East Liverpool

– An officer reported seeing a pickup truck stopped in the middle of Sixth Street with no left tail light. The driver picked up a female and continued on. When stopped by the officer for the tail light, the driver, Richard H. Stoddard III, 46, Lincoln Avenue, was reportedly nervous and moving around, and the office saw an open can of beer inside the driver’s door. Stoddard was put through some field sobriety tests, and the officer determined he was safe to drive, but he was cited for open container in a motor vehicle and for unsafe vehicle for a cracked windshield. He was issued a warning for the tail light, which did function but had fallen out due to a loose screw.

St. Clair Township

– While southbound on state Route 170, a vehicle driven by Amy I. Brown, 37, Darlington, Pa., slid across the iced-up roadway, crossing the northbound lanes. The vehicle struck an embankment and rolled onto its side. No injuries or citations were reported.

Salem

– Police responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue for a suspicious person knocking on the complainant’s door. The person was on the front porch when police arrived and said he was just trying to get home. He was given a courtesy ride to where he lived.

– At 12:38 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 200 block of East Third Street where two roommates were arguing due to one making the other listen to a phone call from a person she did not want to have contact with. The complainant advised the male subject threatened to harm her with a knife. An officer spoke to the man who denied threatening the complainant and was advised to cease contact with the complainant. Police responded to the same address at 11:56 p.m. Thursday where the complainant advised she was being contacted by a female she did not want to contact her. An officer spoke to the woman and advised her to cease all contact with the complainant or she could face charges.

– At 6:26 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street where a healthcare worker said one of her patients had a prescription taken from a local pharmacy. Information was gathered and the incident is under investigation.

– Police in the East State Street and Fair Avenue area at 5:29 p.m. Thursday were approached by a man who was recently released from the hospital and had no way to get to his home in Lisbon. Police took him to the station until a family member could be contacted and his stepfather responded and gave him a ride home.

County Sheriff

-Drake Smith, U.S. 30, East Rochester, reported 12:38 p.m. Friday someone stole the tail gate from his vehicle. The truck was parked at his business on U.S. 30.

-Barbara Beverly, state Route 164, Lisbon, reported at 9:59 a.m. Friday that former employee, Shawn Bowser, took company gas cards and an extra set of keys upon quitting, Tuesday. Bowser was contacted by the responding deputy and he stated that he has been out of town at a new job and was going to return the items the same day.

-Michael Coe, Taggart Drive, Wellsville, fled from Wellsville police during a traffic stop on Y&O Road 9:56 a.m. Saturday. He was finally found at his home. On arrival, Coe told officers that he was sorry for running from police but he was afraid of going to jail for driving without a valid license. He was taken into custody and his vehicle was towed.

Columbiana

-Police responded at 6:03 a.m. Friday to a report of a smoke alarm going off at an Elm Street residence. Upon inspection, everything was secure.

-Elsie Wolfgang, Lower Elkton Road, called police at 11:49 a.m. Friday to report her vehicle as missing from the Family Drug parking lot. The car was found at Chase Bank.

-Police received a call from state Route 14 at 7:46 p.m. Friday about a small child in dark clothing wandering close to the road without any adults around. Police confirmed that the child was accompanied by an adult.

-An employee of Burger King called at 9:40 p.m. Friday to report a car coming through the drive through that smelled heavily of marijuana. The driver blew smoke into the store and left prior to police arrival.

-An unknown caller complained at 9:41 p.m. Friday that prior to driving under the railroad underpass on Lisbon Street, her car was egged. An officer checked the area noting that someone was on the bridge but the suspect was not found.

-Alvin Salter, Youngstown, was cited on state Route 14 for driving under suspension, following a traffic stop at 10:48 p.m. Friday.

Highway Patrol

-Mikayla Richards, West Main Street, Salineville, called at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7 to report that while she was driving north on Bunker Hill Road, the engine of her car caught on fire. Richards was okay, but the entire front half of her car was burnt. All of the interior of the vehicle melted.

Center Township

-On Friday, police charged Kyle Tremain, state Route 45, Lisbon, with driving under suspension, following a traffic stop on South Market Street.

Salem

– Police responded to an East Ninth Street home at 7:48 a.m. Friday where the resident reported someone had stolen his vehicle from the driveway overnight. The resident’s girlfriend discovered the vehicle in an alley on the east side of the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 11:46 a.m. that day. The vehicle had been ransacked, but the only thing missing was some loose change.

– An officer responded to a domestic dispute in the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 1:39 p.m. Saturday in which a woman claimed a physical altercation had occurred with her ex-husband when he arrived to pick up their children. Officers observed no signs of injury, and the ex-husband denied the claim when contacted by police. The information was turned over to the prosecutor’s office for review.

– An 1100 block South Ellsworth Avenue resident reported at 1:44 p.m. Friday reported someone had shot a projectile at a side door causing a large chip in the glass.

– Timmogene Leroy Howell Jr., 23, Youngstown, was arrested on a felony warrant out of Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office for trafficking drugs after officers were advised he was traveling in the area of Continental Drive and Bentley Road at 1:48 p.m. Friday.

– Police responded to a report of a man sleeping under the overpass at 6:02 p.m. Friday and found him in a nearby business parking lot. He said that he was homeless and had been sleeping under the overpass, but he was warned that he was trespassing on city property.

– Officers responded to a complaint of loud persons in the 400 block of Vine Avenue at 2:38 a.m. Saturday and found a man and woman talking loudly outside their home. They were advised to keep the noise down. Officers returned to the home at 5:46 a.m. that morning for a 911 hang-up, but could not make contact with the residents, and then again later the same morning for a report of an assault, at which time they found a woman in the bathroom with apparent self-inflicted wounds to her wrists. She was transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment.

– Police responded to an 1100 block East Ninth Street home at 10:04 a.m. Saturday where the resident reported a man he knows had entered the residence and passed out on the couch. He said that when he confronted the man, the man said he thought it was his parent’s house and left before officers arrived.

– Police responded to a 300 block West Fourth Street home at 12:46 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported someone had taken a pill bottle containing 48 generic brand Percocets from her medications bag in her bedroom.

– An officer responded to a Cleveland Street home at 1:32 p.m. Saturday where the resident reported someone had egged the front of the house.

Perry Township

– At 6:27 a.m. Friday, police checked on a person walking on the by-pass near state Route 9 and Michael Jones of East Liverpool was found to have an outstanding warrant from Columbiana County. He was taken into custody.

– At 1:43 a.m. Friday, police came upon a vehicle that had left the road at the U.S. 62/state Route 45 bypass at state Route 14F. The driver, Michael A. Loughry of Akron, was cited for reasonble control. There were two passengers in the vehicle and there were no injuries and minor damage to the vehicle that was removed by Sinsley Towing.

– Police responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 1200 block of Georgetown Road at 8:19 p.m. Thursday, involving a Michael L. Schmidt, 1316 Willoway Ave., S.E., N. Canton, who was westbound on Georgetown Road. He struck a trailer attached to a pickup operated by Raymond E. Hoover, 968 Baird Ave., S.E., Paris, that was stopped in the eastbound lane of road prior to backing into a driveway. Schmidt’s vehicle struck the trailer in the driver’s side dual wheels and went off the north side of the road. The trailer and pickup were backed into the driveway at 1267 Georgetown Road, prior to police arriving. Schmidt’s vehicle and the trailer from the pickup were towed from the scene by Davidson’s Towing and Schmidt was cited for failure to stop in the assured clear distance and Hoover was cited for marked lanes/left of center. No injuries were reported by either driver.

– Police responded to the 1500 block of Grant St. at midnight Wednesday for a male subject who had stopped taking his medicine and his doctor wanted him taken to the hospital for examination of his mental status. Police observed that he had thrown all his clothing and a television into the front yard. Police spoke to him and he refused to be taken into custody and started to fight with police before a taser was used to subdue him and he was transported to the hospital for evaluation. The male will be charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest when he is released from the hospital.

POLICE

County Sheriff

– Matthew Kent, Thomas Drive, Highlandtown, reported 6:07 p.m. Wednesday he was assaulted by his boyfriend Jonathon Pullie. Kent told deputies he and Pullie were arguing in Pullie’s vehicle about one of them wanting to do drugs before his drug test which was coming up within 30 days. Pullie became angry, took a swing at Kent and barely nipped his nose with the swing. Kent had no visible injuries and Pullie left before deputies arrived.

Highway Patrol

– Michelle B. Ludwig, 27, state Route 172, East Rochester, was southbound on state Route 9 in Butler Township at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday and went left of center off the left side of the road into a utility support wire. She was cited for failure to control.

– Chelsea A. Lacey, 20, Thompson Avenue, East Liverpool, was northbound on U.S. 30 in Elkrun Township at 8:22 p.m. Saturday and went off the right side to avoid a backing vehicle and struck a utility pole guide wire and two vehicles parked in a dealership lot. She was cited for assured clear distance.

– Troopers are looking for the driver of a vehicle that was westbound on state Route 14 in Unity Township at 9:45 p.m. Saturday and went off the right side into a stop sign and a ravine and then continued on.

– Jody L. Murphy, 44, Foundry Hill Road, Salineville, was eastbound on Glasgow Road in Wayne Township at 12:52 p.m. Tuesday and slid off the right side into several small trees.

– Valentina A. Bustamante Concha, 23, North Walnut Street, East Palestine, was southwestbound on state Route 517 in Elkrun Township at 10:50 am. Tuesday and went off the left side of the road into a guard ail and a ditch and rolled over. She was cited for failure to control. She and a passenger, Joisse A. Cagey, 45, North Walnut Street, East Palestine, were both taken to the SRMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

– Edward K. Berry, 46, Bluffton, In., was westbound on state Route 172 in Hanover Township at 8:59 a.m. Tuesday and went off the right side into several trees. He was cited for failure to control.

– David M. Burdette, 47, Edie Hill Road, Uhrichsville, was southeastbound on state Route 518 in Wayne Township at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday and went off the south side into a ditch. He was cited for failure to control.

– Christina S. Bosworth, 38, Maple Street, Lisbon, was westbound on state Route 558 in Fairfield Township at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday and slid off the right side into an embankment. She was cited for failure to control.

– Cassie L. McLaughlin, 32, Crestview Road, Leetonia, was northbound on state Route 164 in Fairfield Township at 3:44 p.m. Tuesday and went left of center off the left side into a ditch and rolled over. She was cited for failure to control and taken to the SRMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

– Romen Kyle Bashline, 25, Claybrook Drive, East Palestine, was southbound on Peace Valley Road in Middleton Township at 7:41 p.m. Sunday and went off the right side into a tree. He was cited for failure to control.

– Marley Annmarie Miller, 22, Valley Street, Minerva, was westbound on U.S. 30 in West Township at 1 p.m. Monday and attempting to cross the train tracks when the westbound crossing gate came down and struck her side mirror.

– Ashley D. Quinn, 28, Lisbon Street, East Liverpool, was eastbound on Mattix Road in Center Township at 4:19 a.m. Sunday and went off the left side into a ditch. She was cited for failure to control.

Columbiana

– Police stood by for traffic control at 2:23 p.m. Wednesday for the driver of a truck that lost its load of hay on state Route 14 near Springfield Road.

Lisbon

– A burglar alarm was going off at the Jerome Street home of Marsha Kosonovich at 1:19 p.m. Tuesday and police arrived to find no one home, but all windows and doors were secure. The homeowner later called and was told of the alarm. Police were called to the house a second time when the alarm went off again at 3:21 p.m., and again the house was found to be secure.

– Melissa Abbott, North Market Street, reported she was walking on Dickey Drive on Tuesday when she tripped over a pothole obscured by the snowfall, hurting her ankle. Abbott asked police what the village was going to do about her injury and was told the village was not responsible.

-The local ambulance company reported receiving calls at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday from a mentally ill resident on North Market Street who was threatening to hang himself. Police arrived at the apartment and remained until the ambulance crew transported the man to a local hospital.

– A caller reported someone appeared to be breaking into the Church of Christ at 7:08 p.m. Tuesday. It turned to be a church worker changing the outside security light.

East Liverpool

– Patricia Flaherty and Daryl Gass, no ages or addresses listed, reported being assaulted by a man and woman known to them at the BP station on Dresden Avenue Thursday. An officer stopped a vehicle driven by the accused woman, who was told to stay put until another officer could arrive on the scene, but she fled, according to reports. Flaherty and Gass were advised to speak with the law director about filing charges.

St. Clair Township

– William Farnsworth, Glenn Street, reported hearing noises outside his home and finding a nearby resident of a trailer park, Carl Payne, urinating into his septic tank. He also reported finding footprints leading from Payne’s home to a light that had been tampered with. Payne denied tampering with Farnsworth’s property and officers told him to stay away from his neighbors’ properties.

– Officers were called to the Goodwill store for a man threatening employees, who said he had purchased a fuzzy pink steering wheel cover for $1.99. He came back a few moments later and wanted to return the cover, saying it did not match the interior of his vehicle. When told it was not a returnable item, the man became enraged, calling employees foul names. When he left, the man was overheard saying he should get his gun and see if they would return the item then.

– Wheeling Police Department called in regard to a missing juvenile, and a report was filed.

– Police and fire personnel were dispatched to state Route 11 for a truck on fire with people trapped inside. They arrived to find a truck slightly smoking due to the transmission line leaking onto the engine and exhaust and no one inside the vehicle. The truck was towed.

– Employees at the Dollar General in Dunham’s Plaza reported people had stolen items. A report was filed.

– A Martha Street resident called to report a 7-year-old girl outside, crying because she had been locked out of the house. Officers determined the girl had gone outside to get the mail while her grandmother was showering and the door accidentally locked behind her. Her mother was working nearby and came to unlock the door.

– Heather R. Buzzard, Cornell Street, reported her home entered and several items taken.

– Katie R. Riley, 25, no address listed, was charged with petty theft after reportedly taking several items valued at $20.55 from Walmart and leaving without paying.

Salem

– William Barringer, of the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue, reported at noon Thursday that several items were taken from his truck overnight, including a tool box, several wrenches, sockets, drill bits and tips inside the tool box. Loose change was also missing. Footprints were found in the snow around the vehicles, a trailer and the garage.

– A suspicious person was reported at 10:29 a.m. Thursday in the parking lot on Reilly Avenue. An officer spoke to the owner of a vehicle on Ohio Avenue at Franklin who said a male had gone onto a porch and removed a duffel bag dropping it beside a vehicle in the parking lot. The female owner of that vehicle said the duffel bag belonged to her son who was moving out. She and her husband were helping him move his belongings.

– An officer on patrol at 2:26 a.m. Thursday noticed a bobcat with the lights on in the Salem Regional Medical Center north parking lot, checked the vehicle and noticed some other machinery/equipment running. The vehicles were being warmed up to be used by employees to clear snow from the parking lot.

– Suspicious people were reported walking down an alley in the area of West State Street and Jennings Avenue. The two people were located at West State and Howard Avenue. They said they were walking from a friend’s house to Speedway. Nothing suspicious was observed.

– A woman from the 900 block of New Garden Avenue reported at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday that her son’s phone was stolen from the high school on Sixth Street.

– Police responded to the 400 block of Fair Avenue Wednesday with Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office deputies to assist them in serving a man with a court order to vacate the residence and have no contact with the female resident. The man was known to have violent tendencies and had previously made threats of using firearms to defend himself. Deputies served him with the court papers and he became agitated and had to be warned several times to cease his behavior. He was told to have no contact of any kind with the female. He was permitted to gather some personal belongings and was told to contact an attorney to arrange to retrieve any further belongings from the residence.

– A well-being check was requested at 6:29 p.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of East Fifth Street. Contact was attempted several times, but nobody answered the door.

– A juvenile problem was reported in the 900 block of West Wilson Street where an officer spoke with the parents who said their 9-year-old son has not been listening and has been causing problems at home and on the bus to school. The officer spoke to the boy about the importance of cooperating with his parents and at school.

– A man in the 500 block of Cherry Street reported at 4:38 p.m. Wednesday that when his girlfriend left the residence after an argument, she allegedly punched the side of his vehicle and threw an unknown object at the rear, striking the trunk. Officers saw a small chip on the left side of the trunk and a very small dent on the passenger side. He just wanted it documented.

– A possible sick animal was reported at 4:24 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of West Fourth Street. The caller said the animal was observed behaving strangely in the area. Officers located the animal, but it showed no signs of being ill or injured. The humane officer was contacted to check on the animal. The report did not say what kind of animal it was.

– An officer responded at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive for an alleged theft. A man in a medical facility said he lost his wallet. A nurse looked all around and could not locate the wallet.

– A man from West Fourth Street reported at 1:57 p.m. Wednesday said his daughter’s vehicle was broken into while parked at Walmart and Christmas presents were taken.

– A woman at 1:21 p.m. Wednesday reported that she and her boyfriend have been staying at an address in the 400 block of East Third Street and the female who rents the apartment is giving them a hard time about letting them use the bathroom and kitchen. The female alleged the two have been taking her property and took her wastebasket to their room Wednesday without permission. She wanted them removed and was told she had to do a legal eviction. Officers were aware that she has a history of allowing people to move in and then demanding officers kick them out.

Wellsville

– Brad Shirley, Riverside Avenue, reported at 5:55 a.m. Jan. 1 that someone stole items from his Jeep parked behind his residence.

– Joe Carr, Broadway, reported at 1:25 p.m. Jan. 2 that someone unknown to him keyed his blue 2013 Jeep Patriot on the driver’s side while it was parked on Sixth Street facing east toward Broadway. Carr said the action occurred sometime between 1 p.m. the day before and at the time of the call.

– Taylor Herron, Independence Square, reported at 7 a.m. Jan. 3 that her estranged husband came to her house and asked to enter because he was cold. Once inside, the two argued, and he reportedly pushed Mrs. Herron against the kitchen counter, where she bumped her head. He told her she was a bad mother and he would take the kids and dog away from her. She ran outside to the neighbors where he then threw her to the ground. She then ran back inside the tried to lock the door, but he pushed the door open and went back inside. They reportedly argued for a while more, when he then punched and choked her as he said he was taking the television. She then ran upstairs and locked herself in the bathroom until he left. An officer observed marks on Mrs. Herron’s arm where she was grabbed as well as a lump on her left arm and head. A domestic violence warrant was filed against her husband.

– The store manager of the Family Dollar on Main Street reported at 4:15 p.m. Jan. 4 that a man was caught shoplifting in the store. Officers arrived and found the manager with Lawrence E. Cline at the front counter. The manager stated that Cline stole a bottle of Robitussin, which had been laying unboxed on the counter beside them. Cline said he didn’t have enough money for the medicine, for which a friend needed, and that he was stealing it for a good cause. Cline showed an officer where the box was discarded, which was recovered for evidence. Cline was cited for theft.

-Police were called at 12:17 a.m. Jan. 6 to an Independence Square residence following a report of a man brandishing a gun. Officers spoke with Kara Carter, who said she was visiting her cousin who resides at the complex when a black man came out of another apartment and brandished a chrome gun that was hidden inside his hoodie, and that three other women-Brittany Adkins, Destiny Earich and Amanda Coles-were inside with the man before and after the incident. Officers attempted to speak with that apartment’s residents but were unsuccessful at first, but were able to talk to Adkins and Earich around 1:05 a.m., who both said they live at the apartment. Officers conducted a building search with their K-9 officer, Chief. A strong odor associated with burnt marijuana was observed along with drug paraphernalia throughout the residence. Adkins admitted to smoking the marijuana inside the house and produced three roaches and a pipe used to smoke it. Another officer noticed an item on the outside of a rear window, in which a bagged scale with white residue was spotted. Adkins also admitted to the officers that the scale was hers, used to weigh cocaine that she abused. Officers advised Adkins and Earich that no drug activity was allowed on Columbiana Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) property, and the report will be sent to CMHA authorities to start the eviction process. Multiple neighbors stated that the apartment’s lessee, Dawn Adkins, had not lived there since the summer, and it was nothing but a “flop house” for drug use. Charges on the incident are pending.

– The store manager of the Family Dollar on Main Street reported around 1 p.m. Friday that someone has been drinking Monster energy drinks and leaving the cans on the shelf. The manager said her employees witnessed the man, Patrick Gill, drink out of the cans and place them behind food. An officer spoke with Gill-who admitted to drinking the drinks and putting the cans back-and advised Gill that the action is theft, for which he was cited.

– Police were called at 2:15 p.m. Saturday to a Main Street residence for a possible overdose. Officers found Tanya Powell recovering from a heroin overdose. She said she had snorted the heroin, but officers discovered seven hypodermic needles, a burnt spoon and two “tear-offs.” Powell was taken by Tri-County Ambulance to East Liverpool City Hospital, and was cited for possession of drug abuse instruments.

– Heidi Wheeler, Independence Square, reported at 10:50 p.m. Saturday that a woman was knocking the back door of her residence, and when Wheeler opened the door, the woman taunted Wheeler to come outside and told Wheeler she would beat her up. The woman left when Wheeler said she would call the cops. The incident, according to Wheeler, was because the woman’s boyfriend had an interest in Wheeler.

– Judy Saracco, 18th Street, reported at midnight Sunday someone entered the house and stole a Macintosh brand laptop computer that belonged to her 22-year-old daughter, Allyson. Both Judy and Allyson were not at home at the time, but said another daughter and some friends were staying the night.

– Sara Ruble, Lakefront Drive, Beloit, reported at 7:52 p.m. Tuesday someone in a vehicle with a loud exhaust was shooting paintballs at her home. The vehicle was last seen headed toward Case Road. Deputies checked the area but did not find any suspicious vehicles.

– Denise Jenkins, Short Road, Columbiana, reported a domestic situation at 8:58 a.m. Monday. Kim Jenkins told deputies Richard Manke slapped her into the bathroom and hit her with a belt. There were no visible marks. She refused to give a written statement and signed a refusal to prosecute.

– Lori Boord, Stephen Drive, Minerva, reported at 10:42 a.m. Monday her ex-daughter-in-law, Felicia Boord, has been making harassing phone calls to her home, leaving several messages.

– While on patrol, Deputy Richard Kimble saw an abandoned vehicle, a blue 2013 Ford Escape, on Carey Road just west of Price Road at 3:37 p.m. Monday. The vehicle had been ransacked and there were no keys. Deputies attempted to find a number for the registered owner, Daniel Almy, Glasgow Road, Lisbon, but could not find one. At 6:35 p.m. Salem police contacted deputies because the vehicle had been reported stolen from American Standard parking lot.

– Lorna Murra of Hanoverton One Stop, state Route 9, Hanoverton, reported at 3:20 p.m. Monday someone stole the coin-operated air pump from the south side of the business.

– Josh Pilla, Crestview Road, New Waterford, reported at 12:27 a.m. Tuesday there was an argument. Debra Pilla told deputies her son, Nicholas Martin, was drunk and she wanted him to leave. The son left before deputies arrived.

– Brian George, Lynchburg Road, Kensington, reported at 2:36 a.m. Tuesday someone called and made threats. Deputies checked the area but did not find anyone.

Lisbon

– Raymond Nagel, 68, state Route 164, Leetonia, was cited by village police for OVI at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday after a witness reported seeing him stagger out of the Valley View convenience store on North Market Street.

Columbiana

– Steve Barr reported at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday he hit a deer with a 2005 Chevy Silverado on state Route 14.

– A woman reported at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday that while driving eastbound on state Route 14 near Timberline Drive her windshield cracked completely across the bottom when a semi truck passed in the other direction. The woman also reported it could have been from the cold weather and her car was just warming up.

– Beaver Township police requested at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday police help them find the owner of a disabled vehicle. The owner was contacted.

East Palestine

– The Centenary United Methodist Church on South Market Street reported at 11:23 a.m. Wednesday the church’s online banking information was used to make an unauthorized payment to the Dominion East Ohio Gas via the company’s online billing service. Police are investigating.

– Rhonda Narehood, Alice Street, reported at 12:33 p.m. Thursday she discovered her borrowed vehicle had two flat rear tires.

– Police were called to the Covington assisted living facility at 6:30 a.m. Sunday for a report that Logan Winters was delivering newspapers there and her hand slipped off the wheel and her vehicle struck a post near the entrance to the building. No citations were issued due to being on private property.

Liverpool Township

– While running radar on state Route 7, an officer stopped a vehicle for driving 66 in a 55 mph zone and reported the vehicle smelled strongly of marijuana. The driver, Tariq Larkins, 23, Peach Alley, East Liverpool, reportedly said he had just finished smoking marijuana but there was none in the vehicle. The officer inventoried the vehicle and found a cup on the passenger side floor containing green leafy material that later tested positive for marijuana. Larkins was charged with speeding, driving under suspension and possession of marijuana.

St. Clair Township

– Alicia M. Lubich, Seville Lane, reported telephone harassment at her home and work place.

– An officer on patrol reported seeing Robert L. Adams, 40, Coolidge Street, driving on East Liverpool Road, and knew he had an outstanding warrant. His vehicle was stopped, and Adams was taken into custody on the warrant.

– Officers responded at 2:54 a.m. to a report of a woman walking along Y&O Road and found Jamie S. Torres, 29, no address listed. When officers approached, Torres reportedly put her hands in the air and said she had no weapons and insisted she be allowed to walk home since she was breaking no laws. Torres said she and her boyfriend had had a fight and he dropped her off. Torres told officers to give her a ride home or take her to jail, according to reports, which said she smelled of alcohol. Torres was charged with disorderly conduct/public intoxication.

– Flo Calhoun, Summit Drive, reported she is missing two gift cards and a gold necklace from her home and that she had never received a card mailed from her daughter that contained cash.

Salem

– A resident in the 200 block of South Union Avenue reported at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday that sometime over the past two weeks, unknown persons gained entry into his home and removed two firearms.

– Marlin Catlos, 53, of 1151 Beechwood Road, was taken into custody on an active warrant out of the county after an officer saw him in the 1900 block of East State Street at SRMC while assisting another agency at 12:54 p.m. Wednesday. The officer made contact with Catlos, made the arrest, processed him at the police station and turned him over to a sheriff’s deputy.

– Officers from Perry Township requested assistance at 12:31 p.m. Wednesday with a combative male they were attempting to take into custody on Grant Street. When city officers arrived, township officers had the male in handcuffs. City officers stood by until an ambulance arrived to take him to SRMC and also stayed at the hospital until it appeared there would be no further problem.

– Drake Rudder, 22, of 214 S. Lincoln Ave., was charged with domestic violence, resisting arrest and obstruction of official business after police were called at 1:51 a.m. Tuesday for a domestic. A woman reported a physical altercation with her live-in boyfriend and she had visible injuries. Officers attempted to speak to the boyfriend but he would not speak with them. They ended up filing the three charges and taking him to the county jail. She was taken to SRMC for treatment.

– An officer on patrol at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday noticed a large amount of water in the road at New Garden Avenue and Arch Street. It appeared to be a water line break. The water department was contacted.

– A man in the 100 block of West State Street reported at 8:06 p.m. Tuesday that his significant other assaulted him and damaged items in his apartment on West Third Street. He was told the procedure for filing charges against the female.

– Eric Gilson, 41, of Perry Grange Road, was cited for failure to yield after his northbound Kia Soul on South Lincoln, turned left onto Columbia and collided with a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Shelby Paparodis, 20, of Lake Avenue, on South Lincoln at 7:28 p.m. Tuesday. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to SRMC for non-incapacitating injuries.

– A caller at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday reported an animal in a vehicle in the 500 block of East Pershing Street. Police located the animal in the vehicle and spoke to the dog’s owner who said she was inside the residence for a short time and the dog was checked on. The vehicle did not appear as though it had been there long. The owner was advised not to leave an animal inside a vehicle for any length of time given the cold temperatures.

– A dispute between roommates was reported at 4:12 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue where a woman wanted her female roommate to move out. The roommate had lived there for an extended period of time. An officer explained the eviction process to both parties. The roommate said she was in the process of voluntarily moving out.

– Suspicious persons were reported in the 100 block of East Sixth Street at 1:34 p.m. Tuesday, with a report of two males in a backyard possibly dealing drugs. The males left before police arrived.

Perry Township

– Police saw an unsecured door on a business on Depot Road at 2:32 a.m. Wednesday. The door was only partially opened and entry could not be gained. Police closed the door.

– A man in the 1500 block of Grant Street reported a check he was to receive for a large amount of money was picked up by another person and cashed. The matter is under investigation.

– Police spoke with a resident on Conser Drive at 10:24 a.m. Tuesday regarding a possible phone scam from people claiming to be from the United States Treasury. He was told not to call them back and that the scam has been going on for about a year.

– An alarm drop was reported at 1:37 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Stewart Road. All the windows and doors of the residence were found secure.

– A man in the 400 block of West Pidgeon Road talked to police at 9:40 p.m. Monday about an unwanted relative living in the residence. He was told how to start the eviction process through the courts.

– A man on West Perry Street reported at 7:29 p.m. Monday that he called a wrong number by accident and a male continues to text and call his phone. Police attempted to contact the person but he could not be reached.

– Logan D. Malik, 19, Harvey Avenue, was cited for assured cleared distance after he drove into the rear of a stopped vehicle driven by Beverly Sokoloski, 61, of East Palestine, at the intersection of Jerome and North Market at 4:18 p.m. Saturday.

Columbiana

– A man reported at 3:26 a.m. Monday there was a Christmas tree in the road on North Main Street. Police removed the tree.

– Kayla White reported at 6:47 p.m. Monday someone made a fake Facebook profile pretending to be her and the person is threatening her friends.

– Police helped a truck driver who broke down at the Routes 7 and 14 intersection at 8:32 p.m. Monday. Ed Geary’s Towing was called to remove the truck.

Salem

– Lora Lusk, 33, of 3075 Depot Road, was taken into custody at 11:47 a.m. Tuesday at Walmart after an officer saw her driving. She was wanted on a warrant for passing bad checks.

– At 7:41 a.m. Tuesday, Shirley Lee, North Ellsworth Avenue, was stopped at the stop on Roosevelt at Bentley Drive when a car driven by Samantha Wilson, North Lincoln Avenue, slid into the back of her vehicle. The report did not say if anyone was cited.

– A well-being check was requested at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday on South Lincoln for a man threatening to harm himself. He volunteered to go to the hospital for an evaluation.

– An Oak Street woman reported at 9:26 p.m. Monday she has guardianship of a 10-year-old juvenile who won’t listen to her and locked one of the other kids out of the house. She was told how to file unruly charges.

– Police were called at 6:32 p.m. Monday to the Sparkle parking lot. A woman said she was parked and struck in the driver side door by another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle said while he was pulling into the parking spot, she opened her door and caused the accident. While on the scene, officers noticed an odor of alcoholic beverage on the male driver and cited Richard Carpenter, 62, Smith Goshen Road, Beloit, for OVI.

– Daniel Almy, of Lisbon, reported at 6:01 p.m. Monday his vehicle was stolen from the American Standard employee lot. Officers observed broken glass and recovered a tool possibly used to break the vehicle’s window. The man said a towing company contacted a third party who contacted him at work to advise how the vehicle had been recovered, which is how he became aware the car was stolen. Officers affirmed with the sheriff’s office the vehicle had been found abandoned in the middle of a road at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

– Charles Hyde, 51, of 445 Continental Drive, was taken into custody at his home at 5:28 p.m. Monday on a warrant from the county.

– A man on East Euclid Street reported Monday he found a phone on his front porch. It was placed in lost and found.

Salineville

– Police were called at 8:50 p.m. Jan. 5 to a Washington Street apartment where Mathew Carriker was having trouble breathing. He was taken by ambulance to ELCH.

– Jennifer Madison, Lincoln Street, reported at 1:08 p.m. Thursday her son was in medical distress. The son was confused and could not tell the officers the day, the president or the past holiday. Tri-County Ambulance arrived and tried to take him to a local hospital, but he became belligerent and refused medical treatment.

– A Salineville Road West woman reported Monday someone placed two pieces of J-Channel with screws attached underneath her tires. The family will look at surveillance video in an attempt to identify a viable suspect.

– Police were called around 4 p.m. Monday to a Jefferson Street home for a domestic issue. A man in his late 20s was very upset to the point his mother wanted to take him to the hospital. Officers were able to calm the man down, and he agreed to go with his mother.

– Police were called at 8:43 p.m. Monday to an East Main Street home for a domestic dispute involving a renter. Nicol Richter was charged with disorderly conduct with persistence, resisting arrest, failure to identify and aggravated menacing. Chelsea Stofen was charged obstructing official business and assault. Both were taken to jail.

– Jeri Blackburn reported at 1:03 p.m. Tuesday she has not talked to her daughter and was concerned because she missed a doctor’s appointment. Blackburn also mentioned her daughter’s boyfriend was keeping her from the family. Officers went at the boyfriend’s Summitville Road home and found no problems. Blackburn became upset with their findings, and officers said she can pick up her adult daughter anytime.

POLICE

County Sheriff

– Diane Possage, Rochester Road, Homeworth, reported at 3 p.m. Thursday she has been receiving un-wanted calls from a number she does not recognize. She received nine calls from the number. Deputies suggested she contact her provider and have the number blocked.

– A vehicle reportedly went into the ditch on 12th Street at Buck Road in Knox Township at 2:45 p.m. Friday. Larraine Jackson, Clark Avenue, Alliance, told deputies she hydroplaned.

– Jim Crawford, Elwonger Road, East Palestine, reported at 4:47 p.m. Friday his wife came home to find the back door kicked in. A $300 older Acer laptop was taken.

– Joseph Wright, Wate-rford Road, New Waterford, reported a custody issue at 6:11 p.m. Friday. Deputies attempted to contact his ex-wife, but were unsuccessful.

– A Churchill Road, Lisbon, woman reported Saturday she has concerns about her grandson threatening her and possible activities going on at the neighboring house with which she shares a driveway.

– Cherie Urbania, Kelly Park Road, Leetonia, reported at 9:12 p.m. Sunday she and her husband argued and he threw a coffee cup at the TV. He also damaged the refrigerator by throwing something. He came up from the basement with a crowbar and a chainsaw. She reportedly was able to get the crowbar away from him, but he threatened to cut her leg off if she did not get out of the way. Deputies spoke to Michael, who admitted damaging property, but denied making threats. The wife signed a refusal to prosecute.

– Robert Gauntt, Center Street, Lisbon, reported at 9:43 p.m. Friday he wanted a woman removed. As deputies arrived, Sarah Drye was pulling out. She said she was just bringing some of her belongings because she is moving in. Deputies spoke to Gauntt and Floyd Gilmore, both of whom said they do not want Drye there and that she had been knocking and kicking the door for about 20 minutes. Drye was taken into custody on a warrant.

Highway Patrol

– Edward L. Corey, 56, Woodworth Road, New Springfield, was northbound on state Route 7 in Fairfield Township at 8:53 p.m. Wednesday and hit a cow.

– Tye G. Donovan, 33, Stewart Road, Salem, was northbound on Old Route 45 in Madison Township at 7:27 p.m. Friday and went off the right side into two poles and down an embankment. He was cited for failure to control.

– Rory Townsend Bryer, 17, Belmont Avenue, East Liverpool, was westbound on Middle Beaver in Elkrun Town-ship at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and went off the right side into an embankment and overturned. Bryer was cited for failure to control.

Columbiana

– Cassi McCoy reported at 2:34 a.m. Sunday an older man tried to sell her narcotics at the Sunoco gas station.

– Carey Bucci, West Salem Street, reported at 10:54 p.m. Saturday there was someone trespassing at the apartments. Police found there was no problem but someone Bucci did not know had been admitted to the apartment next door, which was not her apartment. At 11:15 a.m. the apartment manager requested Bucci be removed for being loud and hostile and screaming. Police told the manager of the options for having her evicted.

– Police were called to 331 W. Salem St. at 7:44 a.m. Sunday for a report of a possible domestic dispute in one of the apartments. Police found no problems there. At 8:32 a.m. police assisted Leetonia police with arresting Carey Bucci at the residence on a warrant through Leetonia.

– Chris Eisenbraun reported at 12:26 p.m. Saturday his vehicle was entered sometime during the night and there was a small amount of cash taken.

– Police provided traffic control in the area of South Main and Duquesne streets at 12:57 p.m. Saturday after a tree fell across the road.

– Brent Burns reported at 3:15 p.m. Saturday he was getting unwanted phone calls and e-mails.

– A man reported at 10:27 p.m. Saturday a suspicious man who was dropped off by someone in a silver Buick Regal was walking fast between homes on North Middle Street. Police checked but did not find the man.

Lisbon

– Police responded to a report of someone pounding on the door at 133 S. Green St. at 1:45 a.m. Sunday. Jason M. Mason told police he wanted to speak with someone by the name of Thomas who lives there. Police had Thomas Page come to the door, and he said he did not know why Mason was bothering him. Mason, who lives across the street, was told to come back later to speak with Page.

– A clerk at the Valley View convenience store reported a shoplifting attempt at 7:34 a.m. Saturday. The clerk said a man had been standing outside for an hour and would occasionally come inside to ask for a cigarette. When the clerk went to the rear of the store she saw him go behind the counter and grab a pack of cigarettes. The clerk demanded he return the cigarettes and leave, which he did. Police searched the area but did not find the man.

– A West Virginia woman who has custody of her 17-year-old niece called Sunday because her niece had not been seen since 12 hours before and suspects she has run away. The girl’s mother is staying at the Fleming House, and police went there to determine if the girl was present, but no one answered the door.

– Jay Mason, West Washington Street, reported Sunday his ex-girlfriend may have installed a tracking device on the his cellphone and he wanted on a report on file in the event something should come of this. Mason said an iCloud account had been set up without his knowledge and his ex-girlfriend was sharing photographs that could only be found on his phone.

– A North Market Street resident reported at 10 p.m. Friday she has been smelling an odor of narcotics wafting through the her apartment vents, and she believes it is coming from a downstairs apartment. Police arrived but did not smell anything suspicious and knocked on the door of the other apartment, but no one answered.

– Police were called to East Lincoln Way near Carter Lumber at 8:34 a..m. Wednesday in regard to a distraught woman who was threatening to commit suicide because no one understands her. The woman became combative and had to be restrained on a cot while being transported by ambulance to a local hospital?

– While on duty as the school resource officer at Westgate School, an officer was advised by the assistant principal that a juvenile was using Facebook at school to threaten a group of other juveniles. The girl’s mother was contacted and advised her daughter’s behavior could result in charges being filed. The student was suspended for a couple days and advised she will not be allowed contact with the other students she had been threatening when she returns. The officer noted on his report, “Why they all have Facebook at ages 10-12, I have no clue.”

– Emily N. Lawson, 19, Harvey Avenue, reported a laptop provided to her by Quaker Digital Academy had been stolen by a man she knows. The laptop is valued at $635.

– The maintenance crew at Woodland Hills reported finding two windows broken in an apartment which had been ransacked and where the tenant, Cara-Lee L. Helton, had not been seen for a week. An investigation is pending.

– Megan E. McLevey, West Fifth Street, reported her unlocked car was entered and the center console removed. It contained about $2 in change, a pocket knife and a nearly empty bottle of perfume.

St. Clair Township

– Jennifer Jackson, Foulks Drive, reported her husband Scott Jackson was at the residence and hadn’t lived there for a month or two. She came home, walked into the bedroom and her husband jumped out of a closet, throwing her to the floor and beating her head against the wall, she told officers. Mrs. Jackson reported her husband took her cell phone so she was unable to call police. He was located at Four Seasons Mini Mart and charged with domestic violence.

– Dartanyen T. Helton, 19, Purinton Avenue, was charged Friday with theft and possession of criminal tools after an incident at Walmart. According to reports, Helton selected several items and paid for them but also took a cell phone and Blue Tooth headset valued at $139 and concealed them without paying for them. He reportedly brought scissors into the store with him and used them to cut open the packages containing the cell phone and headset.

Wellsville

– High winds Sunday brought down a large limb that cracked the windshield of a Chevrolet Impala owned by Brian Podwell, Commerce Street.

Salem

– Gail Heineman, 62, of Goshen Road, was cited for a red light violation after colliding with a vehicle driven by Joshua Wells, 32, of McCann Road, at the intersection of State and Ellsworth at 9:04 a.m. Monday.

– A clerk at Smith Oil on East State reported at 8:17 a.m. Monday a male drove off without paying for gas. An officer made contact with the vehicle owner who said he used his card to pay. He was told the card transaction didn’t go through, went back to the store and paid.

– A man reported at 1:31 a.m. Monday he heard a noise coming from his neighbor’s home on South Lincoln and asked that police check on her. She was fine.

– A East Seventh woman reported Sunday someone known to her entered her home without permission. Officers told her the person lived there and would have to be legally evicted.

– Edward Adams, 55, New Garden Avenue, was charged with failure to control and hit skip/failure to report a crash after an officer was stopped by a motorist at 7:01 p.m. Sunday on East Pershing and told about a vehicle crashing and leaving the scene.

-A man on South Lincoln reported at 7 p.m. Sunday that during a custody exchange at the police station, his child’s mother started yelling in front of the child and wouldn’t let his girlfriend take the child to his truck where he was inside. He wanted it reported due to past problems.

– A verbal dispute was reported at 6:03 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Franklin Avenue where police spoke with all people involved and found no violence occurred. All were told to stay away from each other until they were calm.

– John Stuckey Jr., 32, Hawley Avenue, was cited for failure to control at 5:13 p.m. Sunday on East State near Taco Bell. A vehicle driven by Katie Discerni, 24, of Warren, was stopped eastbound in the turning lane and Stuckey was eastbound behind her when his vehicle slid on a patch of ice upon braking, spinning 180 degrees and striking Discerni.

– Possible shots fired were reported at 2:32 p.m. Sunday on Lexington Avenue. They were hunters.

– Loud persons were reported at 12:35 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue where a man said he spoke with the neighbors about keeping the noise level down due to them having a newborn baby. He didn’t want police to contact the neighbor, but police said the complaint would be documented.

– A woman on West Fourth Street at 11:14 a.m. Sunday reported she lost her wallet in the Dollar Tree parking lot..

– Jennifer Greenleaf, 60, U.S. Route 62, was cited for failure to control after she struck a parked vehicle owned by Shirley Brant on East Third, traveled 50 feet and struck a fire hydrant at 5:58 p.m. Saturday

– Gayle Paxson, 62, of Buckeye Circle, was cited for failure to yield after he pulled out of the lot of a restaurant on Benton at 1:27 p.m. Saturday and his foot slipped off the brake, hit the gas and struck a vehicle driven by Ryan Zimmerman, 26, of Deerfield. The Paxson vehicle continued into the car wash across the street and was stopped by a yellow cement post.

Perry Township

– Police were called to Blossom Nursing home at 4:15 a.m. Monday for a report of a man sleeping in a vehicle in the parking lot. Police made contact with the man who was delivering medical supplies to the business.

– A man in the 1100 block of West Perry Street reported at 7 p.m. Sunday that an unwanted person arrived at his apartment but left before he could respond to the door. He wanted a report on file in case the person returned. The same resident reported by phone at 12:21 p.m. Sunday that his property was being damaged by his ex-roommates while they were in the process of moving out.

– A man on East Sixth Street in Salem called police at 8:50 p.m. Saturday to request a welfare check on his children in the 1100 to 1200 block of West Perry Street because he had reservations about who the mother is dating. He was asked if there were any signs that the children had been mistreated or injured and he denied there were any indications the children were being harmed in any way. He had no legal rights to the children and was directed to the court system to establish rights for visitation and support with the children. He was told police can’t perform a welfare check without probable cause just because he’s unhappy with who the other parent is dating.

– Police were requested for mutual aid to respond to a 911 hangup call with a possible domestic at an apartment building on Route 45 near KSU at 8:25 p.m. Friday. Both said there was no physical contact. She wanted him to leave. He was escorted from the premises and told not to return. The woman was advised how and where to obtain a protection order.

– An officer on patrol at 8:12 p.m. Friday discovered an unsecured door at the Salem Golf Club and checked the interior of the building.

– A resident in the 1100 block of West Perry Street reported at 4:21 p.m. Friday that unknown persons removed two packages from his mailbox. He checked with the company and the post office and confirmed both packages were delivered to his address by Dec. 26. The estimated loss was $15.

Goshen Police District

– Brandon Z. Ferry, 22, Berlin Center, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash in Green Township at 10:27 a.m. Jan. 4 in which he was northbound in the 11000 block of state Route 45 when he lost control of his vehicle, traveling off the roadway, striking a mailbox and overturning, coming to rest against several trees. No injuries were reported.

– Police investigated a report of an assault at the West Branch Middle School at 7:45 a.m. Jan. 6.

– A 16-year-old Beloit teen was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (marijuana) after an officer discovered the paraphernalia in his bedroom while assisting Sebring police on Fifth Street at 8:10 p.m. Jan. 6.

– Two residents in the 13000 block of Western Reserve Road reported Jan. 8 that someone had been driving down the road hitting all the mailboxes.

– A 17-year-old North Jackson teen was charged with OVI, loud exhaust and left of center following a traffic stop on Western Reserve Road at 11:45 p.m. Jan. 8.

– Dana Brown, 28, Youngstown, was arrested on an active felony-2 warrant out of Boardman issued by the highway patrol, as well as charged with no driver’s license, following a traffic stop at state routes 165 and 14 at 4:51 p.m. Saturday.

Lisbon

– Firefighters were called to the Twin Oaks trailer park at 8:48 a.m. Sunday to provide lift assistance.

Salem

– Firefighters were called at 3:14 p.m. Sunday to a residence in the 900 block of Barclay Street after residents started a fire in the fireplace and smoke was filling the house. The remaining burning wood and ashes were removed and nothing appeared to be burning in the chimney. The walls around the chimney were checked and no further problems were found. The residents were told to have the chimney checked before starting any more fires.

– Firefighters were called at 12:49 p.m. Sunday to the 1800 block of Cleveland Street for power lines down. Ohio Edison was notified.

Highway Patrol

– Cody David Meyer, 20, Pittsburgh, was westbound on state Route 154 in Elkrun Township at 2:10 p.m. Thursday and spun out of control off the left side into a guardrail. He was cited for failure to control.

– Alexis M. McDevitt, 19, Yellow Creek Church Road, Salineville, was eastbound on Glasgow Road in Wayne Township at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday and went off the left side into a utility pole, an embankment and a root of a fallen tree.

– Jim M. Biddle, 43, West Wilson Street, Salem, was northbound on Rochester Road in Knox Township at 6:30 a.m. Jan. 4 and John W. Sanor, 66, McCann Road, Salem, was westbound on Winona Road and failed to stop at the stop sign and struck Biddle. Both vehicles then went off the northwest corner of the intersection into utility poles. Sanor was cited for stop sign. Biddle was taken to the SRMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

County Sheriff

– Deputies were called to 41063 state Route 558 at 1:23 p.m. Sunday for a report that woman there was acting paranoid and may have a substance abuse problem. The woman’s relatives wanted the woman to be taken by EMS to the emergency room and were concerned she would become combative if she found out they wanted her to get checked. Police and Columbiana EMS spoke with the woman and she answered all questions correctly and said she knew her family thinks she is not mentally stable. She agreed to go to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boardman with one of her male relatives for an exam.

– A deputy was called to the area north of Lisbon at 6:21 p.m. Saturday for a report of a woman walking along the side of the road with a children’s stroller and occasionally jumping into traffic. The deputy found the woman in the McDonald’s parking lot and identified her as Michelle Jones and a man with her as Kenneth Ferolito. Jones and Ferolito told the deputy they were walking from a home on Grant Street to the Game Stop video store in Salem along with her two children and Jones said she was upset that as they were walking along state Route 45 vehicles were not moving out of their way. The deputy told them that as long as they had children with them they should not be walking along the side of the road at 6:30 p.m., and also should not be walking as far as Salem with children. Ferolito told the deputy he and Jones would take the children to McDonald’s and then go home.

– A deputy was called to the Glasgow Carry-Out at 7:31 a.m. Sunday after Kevin Conley reported that after they closed the store the previous night around 10 p.m. employees found this morning that the door jamb was damaged and the locks had been tampered with. The deputy found the door was still secured but was damaged, and it appeared someone had attempted to cut away the jamb with a Sawzall or similar instrument. It did not appear that anyone had gained entry into the building however.

Salem

-Police responded at 6:10 a.m. Sunday to the 400 block of South Union Avenue for a 911 hang up call, then a resident requested an ambulance and fire department first responders. She called back to cancel emergency personnel and said she was going to take her husband herself. Officers checked the man while present and made sure he made it to the vehicle to be taken to SRMC by his wife.

– A domestic in progress was reported at 6:02 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of East Fourth. Officers spoke with a man who said the male and female he lives with had an argument and left. The male returned and said he had an argument with his girlfriend over a social media picture and she left. He yelled at her outside due to her taking a small child out in the rainy weather. The female was contacted a few blocks away and she said she left for both of them to cool off. Both said no physical violence occurred. The male responded to take the female and child back home.

– A man in the 900 block of Franklin Avenue reported a possible break-in at his neighbor’s garage at 6:01 a.m. Sunday. The garage was checked and nobody was found inside. There were no signs of forced entry and all appeared in order.

– A woman in the 500 block of East Third Street reported at 4:02 a.m. Sunday that she came home and found her window pushed in and believed her ex was trying to break inside. Nothing was taken and it didn’t appear that entry was made. Officers told her to lock the window and call if she noticed anybody suspicious in the area.

– Kait-Lyn Pratt, 18, of Sherman Street, Lisbon, was cited for a permit violation after a traffic stop at 9:51 p.m. Saturday at East State Street and Washington Avenue. A vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation and moving violation and the passenger jumped out and wasn’t obeying officer commands. The passenger was briefly detained and released as soon as additional officers arrived. The driver was found to be operating the vehicle without a valid driver over 21 years old. The officer turned over the vehicle to the owner after citing the driver, identified as Pratt.

– An officer stood by at 9:36 p.m. Saturday at the SRMC emergency room while a sheriff’s deputy arrested a person released from the hospital.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of East Sixth Street, but left before an officer arrived.

– A vehicle driven by Sarah Nastar, of Hanoverton, was struck by a deer at 7:27 p.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of East State, damaging the right front bumper, the fender and hood.

– A combative patient was reported at Circle of Care, 1985 E. Pershing St., at 5:39 p.m. Saturday. Officers spoke with the person who then went to the hospital willingly.

– A woman in the 400 block of Continental Drive reported at 4:37 p.m. Saturday that a man in her apartment complex has been sneaking around the property looking into windows of multiple apartments. Police advised the man of the complaint and he denied looking into any windows.

– Police responded to a parking complaint at 4:32 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Brooklyn where a caller said a junk vehicle was parked on the street with an expired registration. Officers checked the vehicle and found it was not in working order and had no valid registration. A parking ticket was issued and the vehicle was tagged to be moved in 48 hours.

– Police were called at 2:17 p.m. Saturday to the 400 block of East Third Street for a dispute. A woman took a hat off of a man and he wrapped his arms around her to prevent her from leaving the room with his hat. She wasn’t injured and police saw no visible injuries. Both were given voluntary statements to complete to be sent to the prosecutor for review.

– Police responded at 2:05 p.m. Saturday to the area of Allen Road and the Salem Parkway in reference to a person with a gun. Upon arrival, a man was concerned that people were shooting within the city limits. An officer was able to determine the shots were being fired from outside the city limits.

– Police were called at 2 p.m. Saturday to check the well-being of a female in the 200 block of Jennings. She said she had no thoughts of causing herself any harm. She was asked to contact her sister.

– A dispute was reported at 10:24 a.m. Saturdayon East Fifth where a woman said she was involved in a verbal dispute with her estranged husband over a situation dealing with their children. She was told her options. The dispute occurred at a business on Railroad Street.

– A woman in the 200 block of West Fourth Street reported at 9:28 a.m. Saturday that the dog across the street was loose and growling at her while she had her dogs out. An officer talked with the female across the street who took her son’s dog and tied it back up and apologized to the woman. She said the dog got tangled up with another and got loose.

Columbiana

– Cincinnati police requested at 10:30 a.m. Saturday police attempt to find Rachael Helpy who lived at Camelot Apartments after her car was found in their city. Police determined she may have moved out of state and Cincinnati was told of the update.

Alison Suggett reported at 3 p.m. Saturday someone stole her medication.

-Robert Binder, 23, Washingtonville, was southbound on North Main Street at 4 p.m. Saturday and approaching Parkview Drive when he was rear-ended by Michael Merritt, 40, Canfield. Merritt was cited for assured clear distance.

POLICE

County Sheriff

-Melissa Bess, Hammond School Road, Wellsville, reported at 2:30 p.m. Friday, that her 4-year-old child was in possesion of her ex-husband’s mother’s partner’s, vapor stick. The child was putting the stick into one nostril, sealing the other with a finger and inhaling. Bess was upset and wanted a report on file.

-Peggy Baddeley reported cows loose in the Dutchtown School yard, Rogers, at 12:22 p.m. Saturday. Police spoke with the owner of the cows, Patrick Palmer, who said he already had the cows back on his property. He also stated that while loose, his bull sustained a gunshot wound to the leg when his neighbor shot it. The neighbor said the bull has been loose in the past and has torn up his property numerous times. He did not want to shoot the bull, but meant to shoot toward it in hopes of scaring it away. Palmer stated that he believes people are cutting his fence so the cows can get away and he has found approximately 10 bullet casings on his property.

Highway Patrol

-An East Rochester resident reported at 7 p.m. Thursday, a car accident on Augusta Road in which she helped free driver Paul Saling, Rochester Road, East Rochester and passenger Michael Vukan, Ridge Road, East Rochester from an overturned truck. After she freed Saling and Vukan, both fled the scene. When the patrol contacted Vukan later that night, he reported that he and Saling were doing burnouts on Augusta Road when they failed to maintain control, went off the left side of the roadway and overturned. He also reported that Saling had consumed four or five beers and some whiskey prior to the accident. Saling has been charged with reckless operation and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Columbiana

-A Columbiana woman reported a trash complaint at 11:20 a.m. Friday against her neighbor, Nicole Bishop, Quincy Avenue. Bishop was issued a warning.

-A South Bayshore Drive resident reported being locked out of their house at 11:20 a.m. Friday. The called made arrangements to stay with a neighbor until a locksmith could arrive to help.

-Herbert Hebron, Columbiana, was charged at 11:20 a.m. on Friday with driving under suspension after an officer checked his license plate number.

-Denise Kuhlman, East Salem Street, Columbiana, reported at 11:20 a.m. Friday that she was locked out of her vehicle which was in the Images Associates parking lot.

-The manager of the Village Plaza Burger King called to report a traffic complaint at 11:36 p.m. on Friday. The driver, who was blocking the drive through window, was spoken with by officers and moved out of the way.

Salem

– An officer on patrol at 2:44 a.m. Saturday traveling north on South Ellsworth Avenue between Franklin Avenue and Railroad Street saw a vehicle traveling southbound on Ellsworth, saw the passenger door open and heard yelling. A man exited the passenger seat and approached the patrol unit and reported he’s been harassed the past four or five months while at a local establishment in the 500 block of South Broadway. He said he was assaulted Saturday, but wouldn’t provide information about it. He was told to go to a different establishment if he keeps getting harassed at the one he’s been patronizing. He got back into the vehicle with his mother and left without incident.

– Police were called at 10:12 p.m. Friday to the 800 block of Prospect Street to check the well-being of people at a residence. The caller said a child was heard yelling and he was unsure if the child was OK. Officers checked on the juvenile and parents who were all found to be ok.

– A burglary was reported at 9:58 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of West Wilson Street. A window was open to the residence, but the resident reported nothing missing from the home.

– Charges are pending after a driver and passenger fled the scene of a traffic stop at 8:50 p.m. Friday in the area of North Howard Avenue and West Second Street where an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for an alleged moving violation. Upon the vehicle stopping on West Second Street at Howard, the passenger, who has a warrant out of Columbiana, ran on foot and the driver fled the scene.

– Police were asked at 6:25 p.m. Friday to check on the welfare of a person with a small child at McDonald’s on East State Street. The man told officers he was at the business waiting on his friend to finish work.

– A malfunctioning traffic light was reported at 6:07 p.m. Friday at the intersection of South Lincoln Avenue and East State Street. The northbound turning lane of South Lincoln Avenue was allegedly failing to cycle through. An officer monitoring the area for several minutes and saw the light functioning properly.

POLICE

County Sheriff

– Gina Unger, Crestview Road, New Waterford, reported at 7:46 a.m. Thursday her 18-year-old daughter was home alone about 6 p.m. Wednesday when she noticed a white S-10 style pickup sitting at the end of the driveway. She stood in front of the picture window and the occupants saw her. They left driving toward state Route 7. The daughter called her grandfather, who lives nearby, and he stayed at the house while she went to run an errand. While he was there, the truck returned. Again when they saw him, the driver left going toward state Route 7.

-Cindy Master, Buck Road, Alliance, reported at 5:40 a.m. Friday, sometime last night someone took the license plate off the rear of her vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the driveway.

– Sharon Reed, East Palestine, reported a domestic dispute at 9:15 a.m. Dec. 31, but both Kirby and Doug Freed claimed there was not a domestic dispute. They claimed they went outside the house on Hadley Road and had a mild argument.

– Charles Green, Knox School Road, Alliance, reported a domestic dispute at 7:27 p.m. Sunday. Charles Green and Andrew Conner both told deputies they argued over who should be cleaning the house, but there was no sign of violence and neither wished to file charges.

– Russ Bowles, East Lincoln Way, Lisbon, reported at 8:41 p.m. Thursday they were inside Pondi’s eating and someone stole his work truck leased through Wolfpack Rentals LLC. Bowles and his co-workers tracked the truck by GPS to a field on Applegate Road. When they arrived, the truck was found in good condition, but several tools valued at between $800 and $1,000 and about 99 gallons of diesel fuel were missing.

Highway Patrol

– Eric A. Ellyson, 45, McCann Road, Kensington, was stopped past the stop bar southbound on Westville-Lake Road in Knox Township at 4:22 p.m. Wednesday and Shirley May Donnalley, 87, West South Range Road, Salem, was eastbound on Georgetown Road and making a left turn onto Westville-Lake Road and struck Ellyson. No citations were issued.

– Kristina Marie Mattern, 32, Oak Grove Road, Salineville, was northbound on Oak Grove Road in Washington Township at 4:55 p.m. Monday and went off the right side into three trees. She was cited for failure to control and taken to East Liverpool Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Columbiana

– Dale Hill, 82, New Waterford, was northbound on state Route 7 and slowed at the intersection of state Route 14 to make a left-hand-turn onto state Route 14 and Nicole Atkinson, 28, Youngstown, was southbound on state Route 7 and continuing through the intersection when Hill failed to yield right-of-way to Atkinson and they collided. Hill was cited for failure to yield making a left turn.

– A man reported at 2 p.m. Thursday someone in a vehicle in the Napa Auto Parts parking lot was screaming on a phone and threatening someone he was speaking with.

– Police found a junk motor vehicle at a Pittsburgh Street home at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

– A man reported at 5:42 p.m. Wednesday there was a reckless driver westbound on state Route 14. Police stopped the car and found the driver was not impaired and there were no other problems.

– A Marathon gas station employee reported at 6:32 p.m. Wednesday Melissa Garrett called looking for a lost wallet and the employee told there hadn’t been anything turned in and Garrett continued calling and began harassing the employees. – Police went to state Route 7 and Heck Road at 8:47 p.m. Wednesday after it was reported there was a cow in and out of the roadway and was causing a traffic hazard. Police were able to contact the owner and also found that there had been a crash involving the cow outside of the city. The highway patrol was notified.

Salem

– Police responded to a Cedar Street home at 6:56 p.m. Thursday in reference to a civil dispute regarding residency and dogs that live in the home. They were advised of Ohio residency laws. An officer returned at 7:54 p.m. when a resident said she got into an argument regarding the intoxication level of a roommate. They agreed to separate for the evening. Police returned again at 9:11 p.m. after a woman reported her friend at the home had told her there was a physical altercation at the home and requested officers check on the situation. An officer spoke with both individuals at the home and found them to be okay and advised them to cease contact for the evening.

– Police responded to a 200 block South Lincoln Avenue home at 1:51 a.m. Friday in reference to an irate person and spoke with the man’s roommate who said he was intoxicated and started punching things. Officers found the man’s hand bleeding from punching a door, but he refused medical treatment. He said he was upset at his roommates and was damaging his own items. The roommates agreed to leave for a while.

Perry Township

– Police responded to a burglary call at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue in which the homeowner was in the process of moving out of the apartment and returned that day to clean when she observed the front door had been kicked in. The only items missing were an older microwave and some cleaning material.

– Daniel H. Neiswanger, 49, 2910 New Garden Road, Salem, was arrested on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Department for failure to appear and also charged with obstruction of official business while officers were investigated a burglary in the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue and he provided a false name and social security number.

– Police spoke with a Beechwood Drive resident at 2:36 p.m. Wednesday who reported her son is on probation and is not to be consuming alcohol. Police responded to the home at 8:05 a.m. the next day after the resident reported her son was intoxicated in the basement and wanted him removed. She was advised of the eviction process and told he could not be arrested until his probation was violated.

Goshen Police District

– Daitzel Allen Moore, 22, Girard, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after an officer responded to the Beloit Country Gardens apartment complex at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday in reference to the smell of burnt marijuana and he admitted it was his after three burnt marijuana cigarettes were found.

County Sheriff

– Betty Moore, Dunn Road, East Liverpool, reported at 11:19 a.m. Wednesday she has been receiving letters from National Recovery Agency in Harrisburg, Pa., attempting to collect $1,026 for gas allegedly supplied to an address on Cove Road in Weirton, W.Va. Moore said she has never had an account in her name with Mountaineer Gas.

– A Salineville area woman reported at 6:15 p.m. Jan. 1, a rape occurred on Dec. 21. The matter is under investigation.

– Jillian Coppock, Gish Lane, Darlington, Pa., reported at 8:53 a.m. Dec. 6 her boyfriend, Dustin Brayshaw, assaulted her on Nov. 26 and again on Dec. 3. She had no visible marks and when asked why she waited to file the report said she only did so because her family members encouraged her to go.

Lisbon

– Travis Wallace asked an officer to accompany him while he checked on tenant Gary Kosch at a West Lincoln Way apartment at 10 a.m. Wednesday after Kosch’s family advised him they had not heard from him in four weeks. No one was there, so police checked with local hospitals and determined Kosch had been transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital on Dec. 28 and was released Tuesday to a skilled unit.

– Police were called to the laundromat downtown at 12:49 p.m. Tuesday after John Wolfe reported someone had fallen. Police found Vincent Fink, who was drunk, and he told them he was homeless but did have a 5 p.m. appointment at the Family Recovery Center. Police arranged for Fink to be transported to a local hospital.

– Two vehicles driven by Kathryn A. Flugan, 69, North Market Street, and Mindy L. Kisner, 35, of Cuddy, Pa., struck each other at the intersection of East Lincoln Way and Jefferson Street at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Both stated they had the green light.

Columbiana

– John Dailey, South Main Street,reported at 6:41 a.m. Wednesday there were two bikes laying between cars in the parking lot on South Main Street. Police found the bikes were on private property and were left there due to possibly belonging to someone in the area.

– Becky McMurry, Stanton Avenue, reported at 7:44 p.m. Wednesday she was receiving harassing phone calls from someone she knows.

St. Clair Township

– Responding to East Liverpool Road Wednesday night for a disturbance, officers were advised by Barbara Powell that her son, Richard Powell, had been loud and obnoxious all day, talking about anti-government issues. She wanted him removed from the property. Officers learned he had an outstanding warrant from the sheriff’s office and took him into custody.

– Employees of Sheetz reported a woman identifying herself as Lisa Ann Keener has come in and purchased cigarettes and, when they were placed on the counter, she placed them in her purse and provided a credit card that was denied. She then went to her car to get another credit card but did not return. The woman tallied up $21.78 in charges in this way. Officers attempted to contact her using a phone number that turned out to be disconnected. They said it had been in service a couple days prior because they called her about a similar complaint by another Calcutta business.

Salem

– Derrick Martin, 36, of East Lake Drive, Lisbon, was cited for driving under suspension/license forfeiture after a traffic stop at 11:54 a.m. Thursday on North Lincoln Avenue.

– Todd Meskell, East Third Street, called at 11:35 a.m. Thursday to report recent damage to his fence along the sidewalk off Hawley. He felt students walking home from school may be to blame.

– James Utt, of Summit Street, reported at 11:10 a.m. Thursday that he left his phone at Circle K East at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday and when he returned a few minutes later, the phone was gone.

– Police responded at 6:52 a.m. Thursday on Mound Street after a newspaper carrier reported a set of keys left in the front door of a residence. Officers attempted, but were unable to make contact with anyone at the residence. Officers secured the door and keys.

– A representative of the laundromat at 950 W. State St. reported criminal damaging and theft at 5:08 a.m. Thursday, noting two coin-operated laundry machines were broken into and loose change was taken.

– Jacob Willison, 34, 926 Jennings Ave., was taken into custody on an active warrant for failure to appear after a traffic stop in the Taco Bell lot on East State at 1:39 a.m. Thursday. Police stopped the car for an expired registration violation and gave the driver a warning. Willison was a rear seat passenger in the vehicle and was discovered to have an active warrant for his arrest. He was turned over to a sheriff’s deputy.

– An officer at 12:31 a.m. Thursday saw a vehicle parked in a no parking zone on Prospect Street in front of Kelley Park. The owner was contacted and moved the vehicle.

– An intoxicated driver was reported leaving the parking lot of Circle K West at 12:16 a.m. Thursday in a dark-colored Ford Taurus. The vehicle was not found.

-An employee of Family Dollar, 239 W. State St., reported at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday a man was observed dumping items from his vehicle into the business dumpster. Officers were able to locate the vehicle owner who said a family member had the vehicle, but he would make sure it did not happen again.

– A caller from Gene’s Drive-Thru, 1750 E. State St., reported at 9:16 p.m. Wednesday a man was sitting in the rear parking lot for over an hour. Officers spoke with the person from Georgia who said he’s homeless and had no place to stay for the night. He was taken to the station to fill out transient person forms and then taken to Barnett’s Motel.

– A suspicious vehicle was reported at 8:17 p.m. Wednesday on New Garden by a man who had filed a harassment report earlier in the day. He said the same person kept driving by his residence beeping the horn. The vehicle was not found.

– Travis Holbrook, West Wilson Street, reported at 6:31 p.m. Wednesday that he was bitten by the neighbor’s dog while standing in the shared driveway and responded to SRMC for treatment. Officers made contact with the dog owner who was advised the dog would need to be quarantined until further notice. The owner was also told all shot records and licensing paperwork would need to be provided. The health commissioner was notified about the incident.

– Police were called to the 100 block of West Fourth Street at 6:24 p.m. Wednesday for one to be removed. An unwanted male was trying to come inside a residence. When officers arrived, he had already left.

– A representative of Papa John’s Pizza, 1015 E. State St., reported at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday that a roof-mounted sign was stolen from an employee vehicle while parked on the north side of the business.

– Thomas Hurst, 62, of Salem Unity Road, was cited for no license and an expired temporary tag after a traffic stop at 4:27 p.m. Wednesday on Cleveland Street. The vehicle was towed.

– A vicious dog was reported at large in the 700 block of West Wilson Street at 3:48 p.m. Wednesday. Police located a dog and its owner. The dog showed no signs of being vicious and the owner took the dog inside after being warned for dog at large.

– Robert Reese Jr., 81, East 12th Street, was cited for a red light violation after his northbound vehicle on South Union Avenue stopped at East State Street and traveled through the intersection, striking an eastbound vehicle driven by Carolyn Zines, 36, East Eighth Street, who had the green light for east/west traffic at 11:07 a.m. Wednesday.

Lisbon

– The fire department provided lift assistance on Wednesday at the following residences: at 871 N. Market St. at 12:12 p.m. and at 39148 state Route 517 at 4:40 p.m.

County Sheriff

– Sierra Thompson, Longs Crossing Road, Leetonia, reported at 7:39 a.m. Monday she was parked in the student parking lot of Crestview school when her Cobalt was struck by another vehicle driven by Madison Dallies of New Waterford. Both vehicles were damaged.

– Victor Shreves, Clarkson Road, Rogers, reported at 2 p.m. Tuesday he received a check in the mail from StarCom Communications for $1,748, which he cashed at Wood Forest Bank at the Calcutta Walmart on Dec. 15. He was contacted by his bank on Tuesday and alerted the check was not any good.

Highway Patrol

– Charles M. Teenier, 41, Youngstown, was northbound on state Route 164 in Fairfield Township at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday and hit a deer.

– Charles Mason Hawley, 75, Panora, Iowa, was southbound on state Route 7 in Fairfield Township at 4 p.m. Tuesday and went off the left side of the road and struck a stop sign and a ditch. He was cited for failure to control.

– Donald V. Brown, 60, Alliance, was westbound on Center Road in Knox Township at 4:58 p.m. Monday and pulled from a stop sign to enter the intersection and was struck by Heather E. Sedlacek, 57, 12th Street, Homeworth, who was southbound on 12th Street. Brown was cited for stop sign. Sedlacek was taken to the SRMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

– Brian McGarvey, owner of McGarvey Heating Inc. reported at 7:36 p.m. Sunday his business sign was struck by a vehicle that was northbound on South Mahoning Avenue and lost control and spun off the right side of the road into the sign and then continued on.

– Nicholas A. Ziefel, 70, Coraopolis, Pa., was westbound on state Route 172 in Center Township at 5:45 a.m. Monday and went off the left side into a ditch. He was cited for failure to control.

– Cain Lee Dotson, 19, Washington Street, Salem, was southbound on Steubenville Pike in Center Township at 4:10 p.m. Saturday and went off the left side into a ditch and a tree. He was cited for failure to control.

– Brenda S. McKinney, 51, Hess Road, East Liverpool, was northbound on state Route 170 in Unity Township at 2:45 p.m. Saturday and went off the left side into a large rock and a tree. She was cited for failure to control and OVI.

Columbiana

– A man reported at 8:28 a.m. Tuesday someone took our part of the railroad crossing gate on Pittsburgh Street. The railroad company was notified and police found that Timothy Gamble of Columbiana had hit the gate while driving eastbound and was unable to see it because of the glare from the sun.

– Bryant L. Moore of Warren was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the Sparkle Market plaza at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.

– Thomas Goodman reported fraud from Kimpel’s Jewelry at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

– Carlie Deidrick, 18, New Waterford, was stopped eastbound on state Route 14 at 4:47 p.m. Tuesday near County Line Road when she was rear-ended by Leslie Bartels, 45, Columbiana. Bartels was cited for speeding.

– A man requested to speak with police at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday regarding the speed limit in the area of state Route 164 and South Avenue.

– A woman reported at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday three kids were left in a vehicle without supervision in the Sparkle Market parking lot. Police were able to speak with the children’s mother and there were no problems.

East Palestine

– Police were called to 548 W. Main St. at 2:18 a.m. Sunday for a report of a possible burglary. Police spoke to the male resident who said he was playing a video game when he heard the front door creak and when he got up to turn on the light the door went shut. The man also reported seeing a vehicle down the street from his house parked in the road drive-off.

– Police responded to a noise complaint in the 600 block of West Clark Street at 4:51 a.m. Friday. A woman told police she could hear metal on metal noise near her home. Police checked the area but didn’t hear any noise.

– Police responded to a report of a fight outside of Christopher Court apartments at 4:26 a.m. Friday. Police found the people involved had already left and one resident said she didn’t wish to press charges but only wanted her door fixed.

Lisbon

– Emily Vollnogle reported Monday she learned through her son that her ex-husband had threatened to harm her and everyone in her house if the son moved out and moved in with his mother. Police spoke with the ex-husband, who denied saying any such thing. He was also told that if there were any threats made they needed to cease immediately, and the ex-husband said there would be no more problems.

Salem

– A domestic dispute was reported at 1:38 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of North Union Avenue. A man called about a dispute between him and his wife, saying he was upset after his wife was making allegedly unreasonable noise for the time of the evening. Both parties reported no violence occurred. They were told to stay away from each other for the rest of the night.

-A suspicious vehicle was reported at 10:02 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of New Garden Avenue. Upon arrival, police learned the caller discovered the vehicle was known to her.

– An alarm was reported at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday on East Second Street. The exterior was found secure.

– A juvenile problem was reported at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue where officers spoke with both the juvenile and her mother. The mother said the juvenile wanted to leave for the night and stay at her grandmother’s residence, but she would not let her leave. They were told their options.

– Officers exiting the police station at 6:58 p.m. Tuesday saw a male and a female arguing in the parking lot. The people said the argument broke out during a custody exchange. Both people separated and officers left.

– Police responded at 5:37 p.m. Tuesday to the Circle of Care, 1985 E. Pershing St., for a combative patient. Officers spoke with the staff, the patient and ambulance personnel, finding nothing criminal occurred. The patient voluntarily went with the ambulance personnel.

– A reckless operator was reported at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday, but police were unable to see the vehicle make any traffic violations due to the amount of traffic in the city. An officer saw the vehicle park safely in a drive on East Third Street.

– A wallet was turned over to police at 3:03 p.m. Tuesday, with the owner contacted to pick it up.

– A female in Florida called at 11:57 a.m. Tuesday to report she had been unable to contact her friend for several days and was concerned about her. An officer made contact with the friend on Jennings Avenue and she said she had surgery, but had a caregiver with her.

Goshen Police District

– Police responded to a 15000 U.S. Route 62 business at 4:35 p.m. Dec. 28 in response to a request for an escort between two people for a child custody exchange. Upon arrival the officer found a woman who wanted an officer present so there would be no problem while she picked up her son. She picked up her son without incident.

– An officer responded to a 14000 block Egypt Road home at 5:26 p.m. Dec. 28 where the resident reported kids had punched holes in his roof again. He said that he had fixed the roof at about 1:30 p.m. that afternoon and that he did not know who the kids may be, but that they would return that evening around 6 or 7 p.m. because they watch for him to turn on the television for the news. The officer said he would check the residence throughout his shift.

– An officer responded to the area of U.S. Route 62 and Duck Creek Road at 11 a.m. Dec. 30 for a dog complaint and found a rottweiler inside a small fenced in area with no grass and only wet mud. There was also no food and only muddy water, and a shelter too small with nothing to keep the dog warm. The officer was unable to make contact with anyone at the residence, then contacted Animal Charity to report the findings.

– An officer responded to 9000 block Salem-Warren Road home at 12:25 p.m. Dec. 30 where the resident reported property damage caused by drunk drivers on two separate occasions. The officer observed multiple tire tracks across the front lawn along with some street signs lying flat on the ground. The resident also said that one of the drivers had run over a tree he had just planted which cost $100 to replace.

– An officer responded to the area of Calla and Salem-Warren roads at 9:50 a.m. Dec. 31 where a man reported a suspicious container his friend had found while setting muskrat traps. The container was painted a rusty red type of color and hanging from the bridge on a rope. The officer found a letter on it stating it was from the Geocaching website and part of a “national treasure hunt and found inside a notebook with names and dates written on it along with a rubber snake, confetti poppers, confetti and paper clips.

– An officer responded to 15000 U.S. Route 62 business at 4 p.m. Jan. 1 where the owner requested a notice of restriction form in response to an employee’s ex-girlfriend who had caused a disturbance at the business a few days earlier regarding a civil matter to which an officer had responded. The owner said he lost a customer during the commotion.

– Police are investigating a report made at a 9000 block South Duck Creek Road home at 9:24 p.m. Jan. 2 in reference to a bullet that entered through a wall, almost striking the homeowner.

– Bryan Allen Stanford, 27, 13150 S. Pricetown Road, Salem, was charged with misdemeanor aggravated menacing after police responded to his home where he allegedly brandished a shotgun at his mother’s boyfriend in an attempt to intimidate the man at 2:54 p.m. New Year’s Eve. The mother later reported that the boyfriend had been harassing her son and asked that he not be allowed back on the property, although she later asked that the notice of restriction be voided.

– William J. Manypenny III, 24, 6561 W. Calla Road, Canfield, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after officers responded to his home at 12:50 a.m. Friday for a report of his daughter having an allergic reaction to a food and discovered a glass cylinder used to smoke marijuana with some burnt marijuana still visible. The daughter admitted to ingesting an opiate narcotic earlier in the day, so Green Township EMS responded to treat her for a possible overdose.

– William K. Bintrim, 48, Edinburg, Pa., was cited for driving under suspension and speeding following a traffic stop on state Route 165 near Lisbon Road at 3:20 p.m. Saturday.

Salineville

– A West Main Street resident reported at 2:30 p.m. Friday that someone stole a log splitter from that residence sometime in December, but it could not be determined who took the splitter.

– While on duty around 4:29 p.m. Monday, police observed a white Buick sedan traveling west and driving up on the curb and sidewalk near the intersection of East Main Street and McGaffic Alley. An officer turned around in a driveway in an attempt to follow the vehicle when he was flagged down by a witness who said a white car at a high rate of speed passed her and wrecked in a front yard, located on Oak Grove Road. Upon arrival, officers spotted Kristina Mattern, Oak Grove Road, leaving her vehicle and removing a small boy from the backseat. Village first responders and Tri-County Ambulance was called to check out both parties, who were taken to a local hospital. Because the accident happened outside village limits, officers contacted the county sheriff’s office, who advised Salineville police to call the the highway patrol, who then handled the investigation. Mattern was cited for driving under suspension and driving on the curb and sidewalk.

POLICE

County Sheriff

– Gary Shell, Rose Drive, Lisbon, reported at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday he heard someone open his front door. Deputies checked the area, but did not see anyone.

– Stacey Woolf, Louisville, reported at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, while she was delivering papers she thought she may have seen a body on the side of the road on South Mahoning Avenue near Buck Road. The object was wrapped in red plastic and duct tape. Deputies quickly responded and found a Christmas tree, half wrapped on the side of the road with the stump and pine needles sticking out of the plastic wrap.

– A smoke alarm summoned the Damascus Fire Department and deputies to a Woodsend Drive address in Butler Township at 1:23 a.m. Tuesday. The fire department assisted in locating the contact person for the residence and it was checked but no problem was found.

– Kurt Jordan, Desellem Road, Lisbon, reported at 1:13 p.m. Monday he sold a car to someone named Jose on the internet for $800. Jose said he would send a check, which Jordan said he would accept, but he was going to wait for the check to clear before giving Jose the car. The check came, but it was for $5,800. Jordan believed it was a refund check from Wells Fargo from a home equity loan he had just paid off. He cashed it and spent it on Christmas presents for the family and then learned the check was actually from Jose and fraudulent.

– Lt. Allan Young transported Michael Gibson from the County Jail to a child support hearing at Juvenile Court at 1:21 p.m. Monday. After the hearing the magistrate continued Gibson’s bond and set the next hearing for March. Gibson continually asked the magistrate questions until the magistrate told him the hearing was over. While out in the hall Gibson became somewhat disruptive, continuing to ask questions in a loud voice.

– Jeff Avnet, New Middletown, reported at 1:18 p.m. Monday his Ford F-150 was damaged while parked at Envelope One on state Route 344 outside of Columbiana. Four people stopped in to apply for jobs that morning and one of them reported they saw a woman in a red Chevy Blazer strike the pickup with her vehicle. Deputies contacted Kendra Chestnut, who admitted she pulled into the lot, slid on the ice and struck a brown F-150. Both vehicles were damaged.

Highway Patrol

– James A. Nulf, 42, Lisbon Road, Columbiana, was southwestbound on state Route 558 in Unity Township at 7:55 p.m. Sunday and went off the right side into a ditch. He was cited for failure to control.

– Bruno A. Chick, 19, Grandview Avenue, East Palestine, was northbound on Sprucevale Road in Middleton Township at 6:34 p.m. Tuesday and hit a deer.

– Spencer Biser, 24, South Main Street, Columbiana was northbound on state Route 7 in Rogers at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday and Frank Anthony Pucci, 31, Monaca, Pa., was eastbound on state Route 154 when Biser entered the intersection and was struck by Pucci. No citations were issued and Pucci was taken to Heritage Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while his passenger, Amanda Shay Messersmith, 24, York, Pa., and Biser were taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

– Daniel E. Booher, 64, New Castle, Pa., was westbound on state Route 154 in Middleton Township at 6 p.m. Friday and hit a deer.

Columbiana

– Michael Savko reported at 8:45 a.m. Monday someone stole $1,000 worth of brass valves from a house under construction on Radcliffe Pass.

– The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office reported at 4:24 p.m. Monday there was a possible illegal solicitor heading toward the city in an older Chrysler that was going door to door to sell cleaning products and the vehicle had no front or back license plates. Police checked the area but did not find it.

– Mike Battarn reported at 5:39 p.m. he was driving a tractor trailer. It was too tall to go under the bridge on Columbiana-Lisbon Road, and he needed help backing up and clearing traffic.

East Liverpool

– A caller reported Monday she was following a vehicle which had nearly struck several other vehicles head-on. Officers arrived to find a semi truck and vehicle with the suspect vehicle pinned between them on state Route 39. The truck driver told officers he had been trying to pass the woman driver since leaving Midland, Pa., in an attempt to stop her. The elderly woman told police she had just been discharged from the hospital and was on her way to Mountaineer Gaming Resort. An ambulance was called to evaluate her, and the woman went into cardiac arrest at the scene, according to officers. She was transported to East Liverpool City Hospital, and her vehicle was towed by First Class Towing.

– Shelby Hancock, no address listed, reported a man she knows came to her apartment and asked to borrow money for cigarettes. She allowed him to take her debit card to a nearby store only to purchase cigarettes. When attempting to pay a bill, Hancock learned her account had been drained of $300 at the store’s ATM.

– Ernest Carter, Moore Street, reported Monday he had been intoxicated Saturday and awoke to find his son in his apartment. Later, he found the money order for his rent was gone.

– The operator of a truck owned by Banks Gas Service reported hitting a curb on West Fourth Street Monday, and it was found the curb had caved into the storm drain.

– A vehicle driven by Darlene R. Zanders, 61, Second Street, Wellsville, was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by Darlene S. Crone, 46, Bolivar, after both drivers reported stopping to check for merging traffic. Zanders complained of chest pain and was transported to East Liverpool City Hospital by Tri-County ambulance. No citations were reported.

Liverpool Township

– Ralph Salager, Irish Ridge Road, reported noticing his inflatable Christmas decorations were not standing up after being turned on and then finding that the tether lines anchoring them had been cut.

– Jolie Woolley, George James Road, reported a flat screen television taken from her father’s residence. She also reported someone climbed through the garage window and took multiple tools and a generator.

– Chris Wilson, Park Boulevard East, reported he was approached by his landlord about garbage thrown about the apartment complex in the yard, saying he and three other tenants were threatened with eviction due to the trash. He told officers there are several dogs allowed to wander the neighborhood unattended, and he had seen them getting into the garbage. He spoke to some of the owners, but the dogs still wander the neighborhood. Officers said the issue will be reported to the county dog warden’s office.

St. Clair Township

– Rodger W. Roby, an employee of Alpha Adult Day Care on St. Clair Avenue, reported Tuesday someone was putting personal trash in the business’ Dumpster. He found pieces of mail bearing the name of a Broadview Circle man and spoke to him. The man said the trash was not his, saying his father pays to have his trash collected.

– Dustin Brayshaw, 22, and Doug Brayshaw, 27, addresses not listed, were both charged Monday with theft and possession of criminal tools. According to reports, they selected 14 items at Walmart, concealed some of them in their pockets and others in a shopping bag, then left the store without paying.

– Ron Hooker, St. Clair Avenue, reported his estranged wife disposed of his personal property. He was referred to his attorney.

– Officers responded to Fisher Road Saturday to complaints of door-to-door solicitors trying to sell air fresheners, using rude and forceful tactics. There were also men waiting outside in running cars as the men solicited. They were checked for outstanding warrants, but none were found. The salesmen were advised to stop selling until daytime due to their tactics alarming residents.

– While eastbound on state Route 170, Robert P. Blystone, 55, Sixth Avenue, LaCroft, struck a vehicle driven by Zoe R. Westfall, 19, Toronto, who pulled from a plaza and turned left in his path. No injuries or citations were reported.

Salem

– Kacie Bailey, Third Street, reported at 11:56 a.m. Tuesday her vehicle was parked in front of her home and another vehicle was touching her back bumper. A parking ticket was issued for the other vehicle being more than 1 foot from the curb.

– Sheri Moats, South Lundy, reported Tuesday that someone smashed a car window sometime overnight.

– A woman on West 15th reported Tuesday a third party was attempting to activate an account using her information. She already corrected the problem, but wanted a report on file.

– A caller at 12:46 a.m. Tuesday reported it sounded like someone shot a pellet gun at his upstairs window on Continental Drive.

– Officers reported at 12:32 a.m. Tuesday to SRMC to speak with a man about injuries he suffered. He said he had been drinking and slipped and fell while getting into his vehicle on Penn Avenue, suffering some cuts. A woman who was with him verified his story.

– An officer at 8:20 p.m. Monday found an abandoned bicycle on Mullins near the railroad tracks.

– Shane Endicott, 25, East Pine Lake Road, was cited for no plate light and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at 7:23 p.m. Monday on Southeast Boulevard.

– An intoxicated person was reported leaving a Circle K parking lot in a red truck at 6:50 p.m. Monday. Police were given the 1125 E. State St. address but determined the vehicle was at a business in the 700 block of West State. The vehicle was not found.

– At 6:21 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of East Third, an officer spoke to a child’s father and soon-to-be stepmother. The 12-year-old son was throwing a fit over not being allowed to use a different bottle of soap. The juvenile agreed to calm down and listen to his parents.

– Matthew Loomis, North Howard, reported Monday his vehicle was entered the previous night and a flat screen computer monitor was taken. He saw footprints around the vehicle and the door was not completely latched.

– John Stuckey Jr., 32, and Katie Stuckey, 25, 367 Hawley Ave., were each cited for disorderly conduct after police were called to their home at 2:28 p.m. Monday. The husband said he and his wife got into an argument and she struck his truck with a piece of wood, causing damage to the tail light and then threw the wood into the bed of the truck, possibly damaging the glass. He shut the driver’s side door to leave and the rear glass window shattered out. She left in her vehicle with the children. The wife returned a short time later and said they had been arguing and he punched her vehicle on the passenger side, leaving dents. She admitted to hitting his truck with the board and putting it in the bed.

– Charles Collins, 56, North Howard, was cited for driving under suspension after a traffic stop at 2:17 p.m. Monday on North Lincoln.

– An East Pershing Street woman reported Monday she was told by PayPal that someone opened an account in her name..

– A Rose Avenue woman reported Monday someone took her mail ordered prescription that was to be delivered on Dec. 22.

Perry Township

– Someone tried to break into a Benton Road, it was reported at 7:16 p.m. Monday. The incident is under investigation.

– A pine tree was reported in the middle of state Route 344 at 7 p.m. Monday. An officer removed it.

– A possible burglary was reported at 5:05 p.m. Monday on Benton Road where a resident reported arriving home and finding the TV on and the dog out of its kennel. Police found no one inside. The resident didn’t notice anything missing.

– Robert Woods, Colonial Drive, reported at 8:18 a.m. Monday someone struck and damaged his mailbox.

POLICE

County Sheriff

– Kristen Pierce, Bye Road, East Palestine, reported at 1:10 a.m. Monday her ex-husband, Dustin Pierce, was threatening to come over to her home. Deputies attempted to call him, but he hung up on them and ignored additional phone calls from the deputy. She told deputies she did not hear from him and he did not come over after they called him.

– Nathan Brownfield, Bayard Road, Minerva, reported at 9:04 p.m. Saturday his neighbor, Mark Morgan, called him and threatened him. Deputies called Morgan, who sounded extremely intoxicated, and warned him not to call Brownfield again. James Dunlap, another neighbor, reported earlier in the day his girlfriend, Traney Thomas, had been outside and Morgan yelled some offensive words at her.

– Michael Utt, Steubenville Pike, Hammondsville, reported at 4:07 p.m. Friday someone stole his deer camera and damaged his deer feeder.

-A 15-year-old Lower Elkton Road, Leetonia, boy reported an incident at 12:02 a.m. Friday. Deputies spoke to Angela Butcher, who said she and her boyfriend, Bobby Cusic, had been arguing. Cusic then got into her Jeep and hit her with the vehicle as he left the driveway. Butcher did not want to pursue charges. She was checked by an ambulance.

– A woman asked deputies to check on her boyfriend who was making suicidal threats at 3:17 a.m. Saturday. He was not at his home on state Route 45, Lisbon, but after some searching family and friends located him sleeping on a friend’s couch in Calcutta.

– John Scarabino, Youngstown, reported at 11:28 a.m. Friday he had a vehicle towed from his home to an address on Longs Crossing Road in March. However, he just found out the vehicle did not make it there. Instead it had been dropped off at a Lodge Road address. After the vehicle being on the Lodge Road property for six months, the property’s owners were approached by a person who wanted to buy the vehicle for parts and they had sold the vehicle.

East Palestine

– An East Clark Street resident reported at 11 p.m. Sunday they had a confrontation with a person in a white truck on North Market Street.

– Rusty Hargreaves, age and address not listed, was arrested for OVI following a traffic stop on Bacon Avenue at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Columbiana

– John Hileman, 73, Columbiana, reported at 9 a.m. Saturday he hit a post in the Pizza Hut parking lot causing minor damage to his car. There was no damage to the pole.

– A woman reported at 10:40 a.m. Saturday there was a white SUV in the area of the Columbiana Diner that had moved on its own and there was no driver. The vehicle rolled into the street and she was not sure who it belonged to. Police found the driver was Paul Brittain Jr. of East Palestine, and he was told to move the vehicle out of the road.

– A woman reported at 4 p.m. Saturday a big dog was running loose and jumped on her along East Duquesne Street. Police later found the dog secured in a back yard on the street.

– A woman reported at 7:53 p.m. Saturday someone in a silver Sedan almost caused a head-on collision and then continued eastbound on state Route 14. The highway patrol was notified since the vehicle was no longer within city limits.

– A woman reported at 8:29 p.m. Saturday a dog was barking on East Duquesne Street. Police spoke with two young people at the home and they were told to take the dog inside.

– The highway patrol requested back-up with a traffic stop on state Route 7 south of Metz Road at 11:11 p.m. Saturday.

East Liverpool

– Officers were called to an Avondale Street home for a man tearing up the house and arrived to find Jason Messenger, 23, with a bloody nose and mouth. They reported seeing upset furniture and broken glass on the floor and, asked what happened, Messenger reportedly said, “They were making me smoke too much crack,” and was making unusual statements. His mother said he had been drinking rum all night and was possibly schizophrenic. Messenger was taken by ambulance to the emergency room.

– Erik Braslawsce, no address listed, reported he had decided to block off his parking lot located next to Scotty’s Bar because he was tired of picking up broken beer bottles and needles. He was putting up poles and chains Dec. 27 when a man he knows came outside and said he would cut down the poles with a chain saw and, if needed, pull down the chains with his pickup truck. On Dec. 31 Braslawsce reported the chain had been cut and removed.

– Mark Jones, Erie Street, reported his car entered and a Royal Crown bag removed. The bag contained his ID car, food stamp card and other items.

– Debra A. Reynolds, East Eighth Street, reported her live-in boyfriend stole her cash and debit card following an argument. He could not be located.

– Patricia M. Cogar, First Avenue, reported a man she knows has been driving in front of her house, spinning tires every day. She went out to confront him and the man spit in her face, pulled a knife and threatened to kill her, Cogar reported. The man’s ex lives with Cogar, according to reports. Her statement was forwarded to the law director.

– Sally and Richard Cochran, Fairview Street, reported a man had called, claiming to be from the Veterans Administration and offering free medications. After several conversations, Mrs. Cochran provided the man with their Social Security numbers, she advised police.

– Officers responded to Chester Avenue for a report of an unresponsive man found on the couch by a woman with whom he had been staying. The man was found to be deceased and was transported to the morgue by Lifeteam ambulance, once the coroner was contacted.

Salem

– A caller reported suspicious persons in the 200 block of Continental Drive, saying there were two males who appeared to be trying to get into cars in the parking lot. An officer made contact with the two males next to a vehicle. The vehicle belonged to one of them and they said they were there to pick up their sister, who works at the complex. They were told to sit in the car to wait until she’s off work.

– An alarm was reported at 8:01 p.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of East State Street. The building was secure.

– Police responded at 5:01 p.m. Sunday to the 800 block of East Third Street for a dispute. A man said he heard yelling coming from a neighboring apartment. An officer spoke to both parties involved who were boyfriend and girlfriend. They both said they got into an argument over family issues. They were told to keep the noise down.

– A man in the 800 block of East Third Street reported at 4:33 p.m. Sunday that his female roommate was drunk and he wanted her out of the residence. An officer spoke with both parties and told them the eviction process and that the female has a right to be in the residence until the process is complete. The roommate agreed to leave for the evening and was given a courtesy ride to a friend’s nearby residence.

– An officer was dispatched at 1:37 a.m. Monday to the 400 block of Vine to check the well-being of a female. She was contacted and said there were no problems. She was told to contact her mother.

– Officers reported to the 600 block of Cedar Street at 12:49 a.m. Monday for a domestic. The caller advised the incident occurred in Perry Township, so township officers arrived and city officers assisted.

– A 15th Street resident reported at 12:01 p.m. Sunday that he discovered people riding ATVs on his property without permission.

Perry Township

– A caller at 3:04 p.m. Saturday reported a suspicious person soliciting on Benton Road, attempting to give away a Dawn dish soap, driving a gold mid-sized vehicle with a black bug guard on the front. The person was described as well-dressed and ran back to his vehicle and left when told there was no interest. An officer checked the area and when speaking with the caller, saw a vehicle matching the description leaving the township westbound on state Route 14.

– Diane M. Knott, of Oakwood Drive, Beloit, was charged with OVI after a traffic stop on Georgetown Road for a report of an intoxicated driver at 8:17 p.m. Friday. The vehicle was towed.

– Police responded to the 600 block of Cedar Street inside the city limits at 12:55 a.m. Monday for a domestic violence report. The incident reportedly occurred in the 1700 block of Ansley Way in the township. A female said her husband became upset and hit her. No marks could be seen. Police responded to Ansley Way and spoke with the male half who said nothing physical occurred. Both parties had conflicting stories. The information will be forwarded to the prosecutor for review for possible charges.

– Police were called to the 1500 block of Grant for a civil complaint at 8:18 p.m. Sunday. The caller had court documents from August involving a no contact order. He was told he would have to contact his attorney for the court violation. He also said he was missing clothing.

– A caller from the 1300 block of West State Street at 6:47 p.m. Sunday asked about a civil matter and was directed to the proper source to answer their questions.

Lisbon

– Trudi Holloway, 45, state Route 517, reported some items were stolen from her purse while in the Days Inn parking lot at 1:31 a.m. Thursday, and she described the thief as a short black male who was now walking westbound on state Route 154. Police located Tristan J. Taylor, 23, of Salineville, who initially identified himself as his brother, and the officers found on him $63 in cash, multiple cellphones, a pack of cigarettes and a credit card in Holloway’s name. Taylor claimed Holloway had dropped the items at the Valley View convenience store in town and he was trying to return them to her. Holloway, who was described as very drunk, said she met Taylor at the Valley View and asked him if he wanted to go party. They rode to the Days Inn parking lot and remained in the car engaging in amorous behavior. At some point Taylor excused himself to use the restroom and left, which is the last Holloway saw of him. Holloway declined to press charges if Taylor returned the items, which he did, although he claimed the $63 belonged to him.

– Brenda K. Smith, 59, of Midland, Pa., was cited for failure to yield the right of way after reportedly pulling into the path of a vehicle driven by Jeremy M. Matuska, 43, Oak Ridge Road, Wellsville, resulting in an accident at the intersection of East Washington and South Jefferson streets at 12:53 p.m. Thursday.

– Police assisted sheriff’s deputies on a call at Roseland Commons at 2:30 a.m. Friday about a shirtless man screaming and punching mail boxes. Deputies spoke with the man and then left.

– Lisa Odey called about a loud argument going on in one of the apartments at 401 W. Washington at 12:39 a.m. Sunday. Police spoke with the occupants, who said they were just talking and hanging out.

– Police were called to Apple Grove apartments at 6:40 p.m. Thursday in regard to Jay Farrow knocking on Amy Muschweck’s door. Police found Farrow at Muschweck’s door and told him to quit bothering her and to stay in his apartment. Farrow said he was just looking for someone to talk to, but agreed to stay put for the rest of the night.

-Police responded to a domestic argument going on at 118 W. Washington St. at 6:36 p.m. Saturday and spoke with Larry Cloud, who stated he had been arguing with his wife but she had left.

– Lisa Odey, West Washington Street, reported smelling gas at 10:22 p.m. Saturday and her neighbors were making noise. Police did not smell any gas, nor did they hear any noise coming from the neighbors. Odey appeared to have been drinking and was told to go to bed.

– A caller reported there was a man later identified as Terry Allan Hughes walking on the roadway on Canton Hill and staggering around in traffic on U.S. Route 30. Police discovered a large amount of pills in his mouth, and Hughes spit them out when ordered to do so. The pills were mostly antibiotics (Mutual 105) and one Tylenol capsule. While searching Hughes, who appeared drunk, police found an unmarked pill bottle with antibiotics and Tylenol and another containing three Oxycontin pills. Since there was an arrest warrant for Hughes out of the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to take him into custody.

– Police were called to South Lincoln Avenue at 12:32 a.m. Sunday in regard to a noise complaint. They found homeowner Jerry Frankford outside smoking a cigarette and he did not hear any noises. Frankford said he had been hanging drywall earlier but he was done for the night.

Center Township

– Police responded to a domestic situation Saturday at 39062 Grant St. Upon arrival, police found the matter to be verbal only. No charges were filed.

Lisbon

– The fire department was called to the Twin Oaks trailer park to provide lift assistance for a resident at 7:55 a.m. Monday.

Police

County Sheriff

– Gregory Johnson, Randel Road, Hanoverton, reported Saturday finding a suspicious vehicle with the keys in the ignition inside his garage. He found his own pickup truck in a ditch just down the road from his house. It had been parked in the garage with the key in the ignition. The 2002 Ram truck found in his garage was out of gas but not damaged and had been reported stolen out of Portage County by Robert Bane, Unger Road, Atwater. It was towed by Baker Towing, and the Portage County sheriff’s office and Bane were notified.

– James Potts, Randel Road, Hanoverton, reported Saturday he saw his son-in-law’s four-wheeler bursting through the garage door, headed into the field, leaving a huge hole in the door. The four-wheeler was later recovered at 14523 Foundry Hill Road.

– Mike Ecrmbnt, Stroup Road, Hanoverton, reported Sunday that the four-wheeler stolen the previous day from a Randel Road home had caused damage to his property, with tracks visible through his yard, around his building and through his garden. A blueberry bush was also damaged.

– Deputies responded Sunday morning to the home of Steven McVay, Trinity Church Road, Lisbon, where he and Tosha McClusky reported a woman they know came to their property and began yelling at McClusky. When McVay came from the residence, the woman began yelling at him and hitting him. They did not want to file charges, just have a report on file.

– Sue Dattilio, Slater Road, Salem, reported an unknown vehicle drove through her yard causing large ruts.

– Ryan Atha, with Chesapeake Security reported Sunday a solar panel and power box shot with 9-mm bullets at a McCormick Run Road site in Madison Township. A site sign was also shot. The site had been checked on Friday and there was no damage.

East Liverpool

– Called Friday night to an Avondale Street home about a woman refusing to leave, officers reported finding the front door glass broken. Devon C. Cole, 36, no address listed, reported that a woman shoved her about five times, knocking her into the glass. The resident, Michael L. Boyd, 30, said he did not want Cole there, saying he arrived home and found the lock would not open and Cole emerging from the side of the house. She kept trying to talk to him, and he kept refusing, Boyd told officers. At one point, Cole put her hands down Boyd’s pants, grabbed his private parts and would not let go, he said, adding he had to twist his body to break free of her grasp. He was able to send a text to some friends, one of whom was the woman who shoved Cole. Officers advised Cole later to not return to Boyd’s house or contact him in any way, and Boyd has contacted the law director.

– Officers were called to Crawford’s Market on Dresden Avenue for an intoxicated male trying to assault the store owner. The owner said Lucas J. O’Rourke, 32, New Cumberland, W.Va., came into the store with Amy L. Godwin, 32, St. Clair Avenue, walked up to the counter, threw a $20 bill at him and told him to go get him his (expletive) beer. When the owner told O’Rourke to get his own beer, he said O’Rourke tried to punch him, also trying to come across the counter to hit him. He was able to shove O’Rourke away and the two left the store. Officers found O’Rourke and Godwin dancing on the sidewalk on Sixth Street. After being told three times to step away from O’Rourke as they questioned him, officers charged Godwin with public intoxication. O’Rourke then became loud and animated, they reported, and he was also charged with public intoxication.

– Chelsea Baker, St. Clair Avenue, called hysterically Saturday to report a man she knows came to her home and was arguing with her about being with another man, punching her twice in the face. While fleeing the scene, he backed his vehicle, attempting to strike her, she told police. A short while later, he returned and tried to continue the argument, smashing a 12-pack of beer from her table on the floor and trying to take two electric heaters. A domestic violence statement was taken.

Liverpool Township

-Donna Price, Myler Park Road, reported Friday she had friends over for dinner when her ex-boyfriend Ronnie Buzzard, 38, Stagecoach Road, showed up unannounced. She offered him something to eat, but Buzzard declined and left, but later returned and, at one point drew his fist at one of her guests. He left and they heard noises they thought were fireworks but were actually Buzzard smashing the windows and slashing the tires in Price’s mother’s vehicle, according to reports. Officers returned to the home later when it was reported Buzzard was back, and he was found sitting in his truck, staring at Price’s house. A hunting knife was found on the seat. He reportedly had slurred speech and glassy eyes. Buzzard was charged with criminal damaging, menacing by stalking and OVI.

Salem

-Police responded to the 1000 block of New Garden Avenue at 1:02 a.m. Friday where the complainant advised a vehicle ran into a fire hydrant. Tracey L. Smith, 1213 Andrew Avenue, was eastbound on Jones Drive and stopped at a stop sign at state Route 9 and turned left onto state Route 9 heading northbound and went wide off the right side hitting the hydrant and getting stuck on it. There were no injuries and Smith was cited for OVI and failure to control.

-At 5:25 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive for a report of two juveniles looking into vehicles in the parking lot and opening a car door. Once they were noticed by the complainant they ran southbound. One person whose car was entered said a carton of cigarettes was missing at the time of the report. Police were unable to locate the two people.

-At 3:52 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 1600 block of Southeast Boulevard for a report of telephone harassment. The complainant received unwanted text messages from a known female and an officer advised contact would be made with her and she would be advised to cease.

-Police responded to the 1200 block of Jefferson Avenue at 3:52 a.m. Sunday where the complainant wanted a female removed and she was advised she was no longer welcome.

-At 10:11 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the North Lincoln and East Fourth Street for a report of a Chevy S-10 driving westbound on Fourth Street in an erratic manner. Police located the vehicle on Howard Avenue and spoke to the driver who alleged another vehicle had been tailgating him on East Fourth and he had brake-checked the other vehicle several times as well as yelling at the vehicle’s occupants.

-Police responded to the 2500 block of East State at 9:31 p.m. Saturday for a car versus deer accident. The vehicle was gone when police arrived and the dead deer was taken by a passing motorist.

-Police made a traffic stop in the 500 block of West School Street at 5:55 p.m. Saturday and the vehicle was checked for contraband and nothing was found.

-Police responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 5:55 p.m. Saturday for an adult-juvenile dispute and the father said he was attempting to discipline his some due to some language he thought he used toward his mother. The mother said he son suffers from autism and there was a big misunderstanding.

-At 5:36 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 400 block of Continental Drive where the complainant advised their vehicle was entered the morning of Dec. 31 and two boxes of pistol ammo and a loaded rifle magazine were taken along with other items. The total value was about $180.

-A complainant was on station at 5:17 a.m. Saturday regarding a theft of services advising two males were given a cab ride and failed to pay. An officer contacted one man who advised he would remedy the situation and the cab owner was advised.

– At 5:14 p.m. Saturday, a complainant on station advised they found a wallet on North Howard and it was placed in the lost and found.

– Police on patrol on East Pershing at 4:37 p.m. Saturday found property and returned it to the owner who said it was stolen. Police found suspects who were caught on camera and the incident is under investigation.

-At 11:28 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 600 block of East State Street where the complainant advised that on Dec. 30 a Time Warner person came to his residence and he signed to keep the service going on a pad the man had. Now he finds that he may have been scammed since Time Warner advised they had not received anything and now his account is overdrawn. The complainant showed the officer an email he received verifying the transaction with the signature of the technician who came along with his signature. He was advised by the bank to come to the police department for a report number and an officer advised them to follow up with the technician.

-At 8:54 a.m. Saturday, a complainant from the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue was on station advising that on Jan. 1 an unknown person took her wallet from her purse. She was unsure where it may have happened. She had her wallet in her purse when she went to a grocery store and lost her phone. While going back inside to look for her phone she left her purse in her unlocked vehicle. She was sure the wallet was there when she had left her residence and went to the store.

-At 12:27 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 100 block of East Fourth Street for a dog welfare check. The dog was taken inside.

POLICE

Highway Patrol

– Michael Douglas, Ellett Road, reported his vehicle struck by a deer on U.S. 62 at 9:10 p.m. Dec. 23.

– Mark Zocolo, Columbiana, struck a pedestrian, David Hostetter, while driving on state Route 170 at 7 p.m. Dec. 26. Zocolo took Hostetter to the East Palestine police station and Hostetter was then transported by East Palestine EMS with injuries to his left arm. No citations were issued.

– Sarah Johnson, Emrick Road, was cited for failure to control after wrecking on Fink Road at 9 a.m. Monday. She went off the right side of the road and hit a pole and culvert.

– David Beavers, Oles Avenue, Poland, wrecked on state Route 14 at 12:49 p.m. Tuesday. He was treated by EMTs at the scene.

– Thomas Kyle, Route 170, drive off Route 170 and hit a guardrail at 5:36 a.m. Thursday.

– Kenneth Merriweather, Defiance, reported at 2 p.m. Tuesday that he slid off Fink Road when turning onto Columbiana-Waterford Road. He said his GPS routed him onto Columbiana-Waterford and he had difficulty making the turn. He was watching the side mirror to ensure that he didn’t hit a pole when his vehicle went off the road. The accident caused 25 feet of deep rut damage.

Columbiana

– Police escorted Robert Macklin, Elm Street, at 12:41 a.m. Thursday to his home to keep peace with his soon to be ex-wife.

– A Save A Lot clerk reported at 11:57 a.m. Thursday two females stole a cart full of food that was sitting waiting for another customer to pay for. The females had paid for groceries of their own and then wheeled out the cart that was in waiting. They didn’t think the clerk noticed.

– Gary Groom, 64, Sewickley, Pa., was driving at 6:37 p.m. Thursday on East Park when he failed to negotiate a curve and wrecked. The vehicle ended up back on the road.

– Police provided traffic control at a fire on East Park at 6:37 p.m. Thursday.

– Julie Morrow, Lisbon, parked her vehicle at East Park when responding to an an accident scene at 6:55 p.m. Thursday. As she walked away, her vehicle coasted forward and entered a nearby ditch.

East Palestine

– Kristopher G. Wischer-man was charged with OVI and failure to dim lights after a traffic stop on North Sumner at 11 p.m. Friday.

– Thomas McGahan, Alice Street, reported at 12:45 p.m. Friday someone tried to break in through a side door while he was home. The matter is under investigation.

Salem

– Police responded to the 600 block of South Union Avenue at 6:19 p.m. Friday for a report of harassment. Due to no physical violence and information being given by a third party, a report was taken. An officer contacted people involved later and there was no further evidence. The suspect was advised to cease his actions, if any.

– At 6:29 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 900 block of East Fourth Street where a man was having medical problems. Salem first responders arrived and the man was located in the basement and taken to the hospital by ambulance.

– At 7:28 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 800 block of Jennings for a report of lost or stolen property and was advised of the options.

– At 7:52 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 400 block of East Fourth for a phone harassment complaint that was found to be a menacing incident. Police were unable to contact the suspect.

– Police responded to the 100 block of West Third Street at 8:13 p.m. Friday where the complainant advised of receiving harassing calls from another woman. Police spoke with the other woman who denied making calls and said it would be no problem not calling the complainant.

– At 8:11 p.m. Friday, police observed Chrystal L. Westover, 961 W. Wilson St., in the 700 block of West State and knowing she had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear, she was taken into custody and turned over to a sheriff’s deputy.

– At 9:04 p.m. Friday, police responded to the Franklin Avenue and Southeast Boulevard intersection for a report of an intoxicated person walking in the roadway. The person was located and advised he lived near the entrance to the cemetery. He was assisted to his residence and advised to not leave for the night.

– Police assisted Perry Township police on station at 9:40 p.m. Friday with a possible OVI.

– At 11:29 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 500 block of Columbia regarding unwanted communication from a woman. The complain-ant advised she had contacted him despite there being a no-contact court order. The complainant was advised a report would be on file.

– At 12:08 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 800 block of West Third where the complainant advised that $4 in change was taken from their vehicle. The complainant was advised to lock the doors.

– Police responded to the 500 block of South Broadway at 12:28 p.m. Thursday where the complainant advised their vehicle was entered and a wallet was missing with personal papers in it.

– At 11:23 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 600 block of West Wilson where the complainant advised that overnight someone put nails in the side of the left front tire of his vehicle. He wanted it documented and requested extra patrol.

– Police responded to the 1600 block of South Lincoln at 1:03 p.m. Thursday for a well being check and the vehicle in question was gone.

POLICE

County Sheriff

– Sandy Reynolds, Desellem Road, Madison Township, called in regard to domestic dispute at 1:45 a.m. Friday. Reynolds left before the deputy arrived, and she could not be located.

– Cheyenne Murray, Rose Drive Apartments, Lisbon, called about suspicious activity outside the apartment complex at 2:26 a.m. Friday, and a deputy arrived to find Gary Shell Jr. hiding in the bushes. Shell, who said he had gone outside to blow off some steam, was told to get back inside and stay there.

– Cindy Masters, Buck Road, Beloit, reported her garage had been broken into Monday night, and stolen were several saws that had been left from when her father passed away.

– A deputy was called to a home on Yeager Drive in Madison Township at 2:42 p.m. Wednesday after a woman reported her 8-year-old great-great-grandson was out of control. The deputy observed several chairs had been pushed over, a plastic plant pulled from its hanger and plastic bottles strewn about. Deputies have been called to the home before and have told the boy about the effect his actions were having on his great-great-grandmother. The boy said he wanted to return to Belmont Pines, where he lived for a week last year and made friends. The great-great-grandmother said he is seeing a counselor at the county mental health center and a caseworker from Children Services visits regularly. The deputy remained until the boy calmed down.

– Meagan Morrow, Guy Road, Lisbon, called Wednesday in regard to a custody matter. The deputy advised her this was a civil matter since it involved a shared-parenting agreement, but he went to the home of the child’s father on Carmel Achor Road, Rogers, but no one answered the door.

– Breion Price, Washington Street, Washingtonville, reported Wednesday he has been receiving letters purportedly from the U.S. Department of Justice and Ohio Attorney General, telling Price he was the victim of identity fraud and had also failed to file his taxes in 2012.

– A burglar alarm went off at the home of Brian Holmes, Woodsdale Road, Salem, at 12:55 p.m. Thursday. The home appeared to have been broken into, and Becky Holmes arrived and reportedly several items had been stolen.

– Dan McCowin, Carbon Hill Road, East Palestine, reported Thursday someone has been throwing bags of human feces in his lawn. McCowin moved there eight months ago and found a bag of feces with a note for the former occupant, calling him a “piece of ….” but the practice has continued. Whoever is doing this apparently believes the former owner still lives there.

Columbiana

– Vernon Elwonger, Springfield Road, Columbiana, contacted police on Thursday in regard to landlord/tenant issues.

– A person by the name of Winters, Columbiana-Lisbon Road, called at 1 p.m. Thursday to say two black males were going door to door in the neighborhood. Police found the pair, who were soliciting customers on behalf of Just Energy, and they were to quit until obtaining a permit.

– Julie Drewnoski, Fairfield Avenue, reported Thursday she believes a motorist leaving her neighbor’s property drove through her yard. It was determined the damage was minor and no report was needed.

Lisbon

– Lucas P. Kenney, 28, South Lincoln Avenue, Salem, was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after Holly Workman, North Beaver Street, called at 1 a.m. Friday to say there was a drunken man in her home making threats and he would not leave. According to the report, Kenney, after refusing to calm down and cooperate, tried to pull the protective vest from Lt. John Hancock and then threw several punches at him. Kenney also grabbed at officer Mike Cherol, ripping his shirt, and then tried to remove his lapel microphone. As with Hancock, Kenney also reportedly tried to punch Cherol several times after being told he was being arrested.

– Vickie Waite, 55, Apple Grove Apartments, was charged with disorderly conduct after police were called to the Night Court at 6:47 p.m. Thursday. Waite reportedly showed up drunk and was refused service and told to leave, but she refused. Waite was uncooperative after police arrived, resulting in the citation.

Salem

– Domingo Diego, 24, of 543 Columbia St., was charged with domestic violence and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called to his residence at 2:31 a.m. Friday for a domestic fight. A male and female were located upstairs in the residence and the female had a large amount of blood on her face and hands. There was a language barrier but a female juvenile was able to translate. Officers were advised by the victim that she had an argument with her live-in boyfriend over money and moving out. He became upset and began to punch her in the face and stomach. Fire department first responders and an ambulance were called and the ambulance transported the victim to Salem Regional Medical Center. The male denied hitting her, according to the report.

-Police were called at 2:12 a.m. Friday to the 800 block of New Garden Avenue for an intoxicated male who injured himself. Two others at the residence said they stopped him. Fire department first responders and EMT Ambulance responded and he was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center.

– An officer on patrol at South Ellsworth Avenue near East Pershing Street at 12:47 a.m. Friday saw an intoxicated male stumbling on the sidewalk. The male was given a ride home a short distance away.

– A caller at 11:03 p.m. Thursday reported a reckless driver in the 400 block of West State Street. Police located the vehicle and followed behind looking for possible traffic violations but saw none.

– An officer on Maple Street near South Union Avenue at 10:17 p.m. Thursday saw two males walking and one of them had an open bottle of alcohol. Thomas J. Phillips III, 19, of 16 S. Egypt Road, was charged with underage consumption of alcohol. While searching him, police found an unopened bottle of alcohol, a multi-colored glass pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana and a clear plastic bag of suspected marijuana. He was also charged with a minor misdemeanor of possession of marijuana. The second male, Terry Carson, 20, of 711 E. Fifth St., was also charged with underage consumption.

– A man reported at 9:57 p.m. Thursday that residents of his home in the 200 block of Park Avenue moved out and might have taken items that did not belong to them. The incident appeared to be civil, but he was told a report would be made for the prosecutor.

– Possible menacing was reported at 9:27 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard where a resident reported a male came to the door and started an argument regarding property. He didn’t want the person coming back. Officers contacted the male and told him he was no longer welcome in the home.

– An alarm was reported Thursday night in the 1400 block of the Salem Parkway. The exterior of the building was found secure. A keyholder responded a short time later and the interior was checked and also found secure.

– Amy Jo Haines, 24, of 302 E. Chestnut St., Lisbon, was charged with assault and disorderly conduct after calling police to a property in the 500 block of Bank Street at 8:29 p.m. Thursday for a domestic/assault case. When police arrived, she was found intoxicated and said she punched her boyfriend multiple times and wished for officers to take her to jail. The victim didn’t want charges pursued. While police were speaking with Haines, she threw an open beer bottle over the second story balcony causing it to shatter on the ground. She also told officers she was going back inside and punch her boyfriend again. She attempted to get past officers several times to do so despite verbal commands. She was charged with both the assault and disorderly conduct and taken to the county jail.

– A man in the 600 block of Woodland Avenue reported at 8:08 p.m. Thursday that two bicycles were stolen from his residence earlier in the day.

– A reckless, possibly intoxicated driver was reported at 6:22 p.m. Thursday traveling west on East State Street. Officers were able to get behind the vehicle on East State Street near Vine Avenue and followed to the city limits on West State Street. No violations or indications of intoxication were observed.

– Police were called at 4:18 p.m. Thursday to the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue for Internet harassment and a possible scam for money. A man said an unknown person was asking him for money via social media to cover the taxes of a $150,000 reward the person would send him. Officers told him to block the person from his social media account. The incident is under investigation.

– Nathan Galpin, of Alliance, reported a breaking and entering into a vehicle at 2:40 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of South Broadway, noting nothing was missing.

– Kathryn Fisher, of the 100 block of Washington Avenue, reported at 10:14 a.m. Thursday that sometime overnight her vehicle was egged. Donna Dermotta, a resident in the 400 block, reported at 8:59 a.m. that vehicles were egged on her property also.

– A Cleveland Street resident reported at 9:59 a.m. Thursday that a couple of days ago while at work a known male co-worker sped out of the parking lot whipping gravel all over the front of his vehicle. The vehicle had several nicks and scratches on the hood and window. An officer spoke with the co-worker who said he sped out and threw gravel but he didn’t know it hit the other man’s vehicle. He apologized for the incident.

– Police were called to Consumers National Bank, 141 S. Ellsworth Ave., for an upset person. A man said his state funds were supposed to be available through the ATM at the branch using his identification card. The machine would not dispense the money after numerous tries. Prior to police arriving, the man allegedly confronted a female employee in the lot which was why police were called. His intentions were unknown and he was irate about the money. The manager and officers told him his options and he left without further incident.

Highway Patrol

– Gloria L. Pittman, 49, New Garden Road, Salem, was westbound on state Route 172 in Hanover Township at 8:35 p.m. Friday and hit a deer.

– Caleb Todd Sims, 23, Lisbon Road, Leetonia, was southbound on state Route 164 in Center Township at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and hit a dog. The dog continued on.

– Teresa S. Dutcher, 53, West Pine Lake Road, Salem, and Barry T. Bandy, 22, Hartley Road, Beloit, were eastbound on U.S. 62 in Butler Township at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and Bandy was stopped for traffic and was struck by Dutcher. Dutcher was cited for assured clear distance and Bandy was taken the Alliance Community Hospital for possible injuries.

– Dominic Wayne Southall, 21, Carter road, New Waterford, was westbound on state Route 46 in Unity Township at 6 p.m. Monday and went off the right side into a ditch and a tree. He was cited for failure to control.

– Troy R. Koehn, 22, Winona Road, Homeworth, was eastbound on Lake Street in Knox Township at 9:18 p.m. Sunday and hit a fallen tree.

Lisbon

– Police were called to the Columbiana County Mental Health Center at 10:36 a.m. Tuesday in regard to a client who was refusing to go to a local hospital. The client agreed to be transported to a hospital after police arrived. Police were called back at 1:26 p.m. when a client made threats about family members. The woman was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Center Township

– Police were advised of drug activity near Lisa Lane on Dec. 30. Police responded to the area to retrieve information. The matter is under investigation.

-Police were advised of a residential alarm at 7175 Route 164. Police checked the residence and found nothing out of place.

– Donna Bishop, state Route 172, called and advised that her nephew took her vehicle and has not returned it. Police attempted to contact the nephew, but were unsuccessful. Charges against the nephew are pending.

– Jake Cannon, Rose Drive, Lisbon, contacted police and advised that he is being harassed by people on Facebook. Police made contact with the persons and advised them to have no contact with Cannon.

Columbiana

– Glen McCoy of New Waterford was westbound on state Route 14 at 8:36 a.m. Wednesday when Patricia Dailey of Lisbon was exiting a private drive and both cars collided. Dailey was cited for failure to yield.

– Myra Shablesky, reported at 12:49 p.m. Wednesday she believes she is being defrauded and threatened by someone she doesn’t know.

– David Cope, 39, Lisbon, was removed from the American Legion property after he was drunk and became disorderly at 8:51 p.m. Wednesday.

Salem

– Police responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue near Quaker Village at 6:44 a.m. Thursday for a report of a person running on the road with no reflective clothing. An anonymous caller expressed concern because they almost struck the person. Police did not find the runner.

– A possible open door was reported at 6:32 a.m. Thursday at the rear of a residence in the 400 block of East Fourth Street. The back door was opened and officers checked the vacant house for any persons inside. The residence was vacant with no signs of forced entry.

– An anonymous caller at 2:44 a.m. Thursday reported a noise disturbance in the 1300 block of Eastview Drive, saying it sounded as if people were pounding on something. Contact was made at a residence where a man said he was in the process of remodeling the house. He was told to keep the noise down.

– An officer on patrol at 1:25 a.m. Thursday spoke with two males on East Pershing Street just east of South Union Avenue who matched the physical description of two people in the area the previous day attempting to enter vehicles. They were identified and sent on their way.

– An officer on patrol at 1:03 a.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of East Third Street saw a blue Saturn parked in a driveway with the dome light on and the passenger side door ajar. The owner was contacted and checked the vehicle, noting it was entered by unknown people. Nothing appeared to be missing.

– A domestic in progress was reported at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Hawley Avenue where a woman said she and her husband were fighting. The incident was verbal only and he had left.

– A person with a gun was reported at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday by a man who said he was walking east on West Pershing Street towards a local gas station in the 100 block of West State Street when someone yelled at him and said they had a gun. An unknown object was thrown towards him but did not hit him. He said he ran to the gas station. Police were unable to locate anyone in the area. The man had lost his glasses, but officers were able to find them along the sidewalk and return them to him.

– An anonymous caller at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday reported a malfunctioning traffic signal at the intersection of East Pershing Street and South Lincoln Avenue. An officer responded and found the light functioning properly.

– A suspicious male was reported at 6:29 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of South Madison where a caller said the male was seen on his back porch before walking away. Officers checked the area but didn’t find anyone.

– An officer at 4:17 p.m. Wednesday spoke with a woman at the station regarding an alleged theft. She said a female had stolen services earlier in the day, with the area of East State Street and North Lincoln Avenue mentioned on the report. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review of charges.

– Officers responded to Waterworth Memorial Park near East School Street at 3:26 p.m. Wednesday for a possible report of persons smoking pot. It was found to be vapor with no signs of illegal activity or contraband.

– Police were called at 1:33 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Rose Avenue for a report of drug paraphernalia. The caller found a used capped needle in an alley. The needle was disposed of properly.

– A caller at 11:37 a.m. Wednesday reported two juveniles walking around in the area of Highland Avenue and Cleveland Street with a blanket saying they were cold. The juveniles had left before police were called and could not be found.
