LISBON — The single hauler idea for trash collection in Lisbon was batted about Tuesday night, with a Lisbon resident and the owner of Diamondback Disposal both speaking out against the end of competition. “I don’t think it’s in your best interest,” Diamondback Disposal owner Mark Frederick told village council. Under a single hauler trash program, the village would take bids and choose one trash company to pick up trash for all residents for a set price for each instead of residents choosing their own. Trial rescheduled in alleged charitable donations theft

LISBON — The jury trial for Amanda M. Kiger and River Valley Organizing for allegedly stealing charitable donations for personal use is now rescheduled for 8:30 a.m. Feb. 16. Kiger, 53, Center Street, East Liverpool, appeared via telephone for a status hearing Thursday in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court after her vehicle broke down while she was en route to the courthouse. SALEM — The Salem Athletic Boosters Club will celebrate America’s 250th birthday and honor the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, during a pre-game ceremony at the Salem High School football game this evening. Undetonated ordnance located in Salem garage

SALEM — Salem first responders were called to West 12th Street after a resident discovered a potential undetonated ordnance Wednesday. “They immediately called the bomb squad and were able to send them some photos of it. [The bomb squad] knew what it was and said ‘yeah, we’d better come get it’” Police Chief J.T. Panezott said.
