LISBON — A Boardman area contractor convicted in 2024 of stealing from clients was scheduled for a probation violation hearing in three separate cases Friday, but failed to show up. Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge Scott Washam issued a bench warrant for John P. Bartos, 43, Youngstown, when he didn’t arrive for the 10:30 a.m. hearing. Toronto woman pleads guilty to having knife at Utica Shale Academy

LISBON — A woman accused of having a knife on the grounds of the Utica Shale Academy school in Salineville earlier this year admitted her guilt Thursday. Britania B. Brown, 45, Toronto, pleaded guilty to illegal conveyance or possession of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance in a school safety zone, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly having the knife out in the school parking lot on Jan. 14.
