Lisbon man pleads guilty to assault for 2025 Madison Township shooting

LISBON — A Lisbon man charged with felonious assault and other counts related to a 2025 shooting in Madison Township will face sentencing at 10 a.m. Aug. 28 in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court after entering a guilty plea. Hunter Congrove, 23, state Route 45, pleaded guilty to felonious assault, a second-degree felony, a firearm specification and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony. Columbiana council approves contract with public employees union

COLUMBIANA — The city’s AFSCME union will earn 3 percent raises annually over the next three years. City Council approved the new three-year contract on July 21. City Manager Lance Willard said the agreement is similar to the one given to the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association earlier this year. Both unions received 3 percent wage increases for each year of the three year contracts. The OPBA covers patrolmen, dispatchers and the police sergeant. Port Authority working with East Palestine to develop industrial park

LISBON — The village of East Palestine and the Columbiana County Port Authority are partnering up to develop an 85-acre parcel of land into an industrial park just north of the village, north of state Route 14 off of Howell Road in Unity Township. “We’ve been working with the village and believe this will be very important towards the economic recovery,” CCPA Executive Director Brittany Smith said. Highway patrol investigating head-on collision in Perry Township

PERRY TOWNSHIP — Two drivers suffered suspected serious injuries Tuesday morning after their pickups collided head-on on state Route 45 in Perry Township. A spokesman for the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lisbon post said a Chevy Silverado traveled left of center and struck a Dodge Ram at 8:27 a.m. Tuesday. Each driver was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown by EMT EMS. Perry Township police and fire departments were also on scene. The accident remains under investigation.

Community member shares plans of car show in Hammond Park

WELLSVILLE — A community member recently advised village council of plans to hold a car show at Hammond Park. Grant Barlow told council at its most recent meeting he will once again be part of a team organizing the Wheels in Wellsville Labor Day Car Show Sept. 7 at the park, with this year’s proceeds going to playground equipment for the park.
