Hanoverton Community Corn Roast set for Saturday The annual Hanoverton Community Corn Roast will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the new Hanoverton Fire Department on Chestnut Lane. The event was started in 2014 by the late former Hanoverton Mayor Dan Kibler. Following his death, the organizing committee chose to continue the tradition as a way to serve and connect with the community. The Corn Roast provides a free meal for area residents and is made possible through the generous support of local businesses and donations from attendees. Salem parks commission approves employee raises

SALEM — The parks commission approved employee pay raises in its special meeting Aug. 5. Following an executive session for the discussion of personnel matters, the commissioners voted two to one to increase the base wage for the department’s laborer position by 4.5%, and to increase the mechanic position’s wage by 6%, retroactive to July 1. Local hospitals recognized for advancing care for heart disease, stroke

YOUNGSTOWN – The East Liverpool City Hospitaland Aultman Alliance Community Hospitalhave been recognized by the American Heart Association for advancing quality care for heart disease and stroke. Humane society pauses intake after seizure of over 100 animals

SALEM — The Columbiana County Humane Society has temporarily paused intake of animals following the seizure of more than 100 animals Monday. In a statement posted on the humane society’s Facebook page Tuesday, humane agent Fabian Pike announced that the humane society “temporarily closed [its] intake until [it] can find homes for some of [its] new and current residents.” The closure comes after “the humane crime unit seized 113 animals from an undisclosed location in Columbiana County” Monday, including dogs, cats, chickens, roosters, pigs, emus, a pheasant, rabbits, and ...
