SALEM – The Phillips Christian Church recently welcomed Dr. Rick Cherok as its new minister. Cherok was born and raised in Barberton, Ohio. After completing two bachelor’s degrees from Kentucky Christian University and two master’s degrees from the University of Akron, he gained his PhD in United States Religious History from Kent State University. In addition to serving as a professor of history at Cincinnati Christian University, Ozark Christian College, and Kentucky Christian University, Cherok has held ministries in Arkansas and Ohio. Wellsville to look into injunction against data center

WELLSVILLE — Village council is considering an injunction to stop a proposed data center in Yellow Creek Township. Council has asked village solicitor Chris Weeda to research the options on what steps need to be taken to file the injunction. County health board addresses swim safety tips

LISBON — Swim safety topped the topics during a recent Columbiana County Health District Board meeting, with the idea of a water watcher being suggested by both the county and the state. “Someone to observe people in the pool,” county Health District Public Information Officer Laura Fauss said. East Liverpool mayor tells council about preparations for monument unveiling

EAST LIVERPOOL — Mayor Bobby Smith told the East Liverpool City Council during Monday’s council meeting that it was going to be a busy week in the city, with the setting and unveiling of the Revolutionary War Monument at the corner of Sixth and Washington streets.
