Columbiana High School Class of ‘61 lunch canceled Columbiana High School Class of 1961 has canceled the lunch gathering for September. The date of the monthy luncheon at the American Legion conflicts with the set-up activity for the annual Street Fair that week. Two longtime Beaver Local employees honored

LISBON — The passing of two longtime Beaver Local School District employees was recognized by the Board of Education in August. The lives of Brenda Vujakyla and Rick Seibert were both honored during the meeting for their dedicated service to Beaver Local students. Vujakyla taught sixth grade in the district for more than 35 years before retiring in 2011. She passed away on July 26 at the age of 72. Highway Patrol investigating fatal crash in Middleton Township

LISBON — The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating a crash which left a Wellsville man dead in Middleton Township Monday. According to a press release, OSHP Post 15 in Lisbon is investigating a one-vehicle motorcycle crash which occurred on state Route 7 near mile post 19 at approximately 9:02 p.m. Monday. David Bell, 35, Wellsville, was traveling southbound on a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle which traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned back onto the roadway. CCESC to provide hands-on career exploration at the 7th Annual Mahoning Valley Skilled Trades Expo

LISBON — The Columbiana County Educational Service Center (CCESC) is partnering in the 7th Annual Mahoning Valley Skilled Trades Expo. Dennis Dunham, director of teaching and learning for the CCESC, said during the August board meeting that the event scheduled for Sept. 22-24 at the Canfield Fairgrounds will provide hands-on career exploration opportunities for students in grades 7-12. Columbiana Arts Theater to produce first independent musical

COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana Arts Theater is producing its first ever musical independently. Also known as the CAT, the Columbiana Arts Theater located in the town square along Main Street has been gifted enough funding to produce the popular “1776” musical that is being locally directed by retired Columbiana County Municipal Court Judge Mark Frost.
