Columbiana to try new Christmas Parade route

COLUMBIANA — The city is trying out a new route for the Christmas Parade this year. The parade, scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 20, will now begin on Railroad Street across from the planned new City Hall location. Zach King, director of the Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce, shared the plans with City Council in August. King said the decision was made following conversations with Police Chief Mark Edwards and last year’s parade volunteers. “The shutting down the roads was a bit difficult. New dates set in involuntary manslaughter case

LISBON — Upcoming court dates were set Friday in the case against Seth T. Hildebrand, who is accused of causing the death of a 2-year-old child in December 2024. Dates were set for an interim status conference hearing at 10 a.m. on Jan. 15, a final status conference hearing at 9 a.m. on March 2, and a jury trial at 9 a.m. on April 6 during a brief pretrial hearing Friday. Hildebrand, 21, Birch Road, East Liverpool, who was in attendance Friday, has been out of jail on a $200,000 cash or surety bond. City lake to close after Labor Day

SALEM — The parks department will cut the season short at the Salem City Lake this year. During the parks commission’s August meeting, Parks Director Kelli Pastore told the commissioners that the department was once again operating at a loss for the year at the city lake and asked when they wanted to close the lake this year. Pastore said that while the department had expected a bump in activity at the lake this year due to Guilford Lake temporarily closing for dam work during the summer, the department had sold roughly the same number of day and season passes as last season, ...

U.S. Route 30 closure for pavement rehabilitation

Starting Sept. 21, U.S. Route 30 will close at the state Route 11/U.S. Route 30 interchange in West Point for 45 days. The closure includes the section of U.S. Route 30 from state Route 45 to the state Route 11 northbound on- and off-ramps. Additionally, the ramp from state Route 11 to U.S. Route 30 and the eastbound U.S. Route 30 ramp will close as part of this phase of the project.
