LISBON -- The Washingtonville man accused of recording under women's skirts with his cell phone while working at Family Dollar in Leetonia is now facing multiple felony counts related to his alleged possession of child pornography.
Shane A. Beckert, 22, Stocking Street, was indicted Wednesday by the Columbiana County Grand Jury for two counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, a fourth-degree felony, and eight counts of illegal use of minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, a fifth-degree felony, along with misdemeanors of voyeurism and possessing criminal tools.
All of the charges stem from Oct. 3, 2026, which is when a Leetonia police detective found Beckert's phone placed under a shelf after receiving a complaint about him using his phone to record video under a woman's skirt while she was at the store. The indictment alleged that Beckert did knowingly secretly and surreptitiously videotape, photograph, file or otherwise record the woman above, under or through her clothing for the purpose of viewing her body or undergarments, with the cell phone identified as the criminal tool.
The other charges all deal with what was found on the phone after it was examined by police.
"It was learned that Beckert had captured videos of a 12-year-old (juvenile) in both a state of nudity, and also in sexually explicit activity in 2023" in a community in another county and was still in possession of the videos and images. He allegedly admitted to capturing the videos and images on his cellular device between 2020 and 2024.
The affidavit filed in county Municipal Court said the videos and images appeared to be captured without the juvenile aware they were being taken "and some depicted the defendant himself engaged in sexual acts with the juvenile."
Beckert was originally charged in Municipal Court with one count each of the pandering and illegal use of a minor charges, along with the voyeurism and possession of criminal tools.
He's already serving 95 days in the county jail for a related case for misdemeanors of voyeurism and possession of criminal tools for another victim, who had previously been unidentified and was identified for a Sept. 30 incident when he strategically placed his cell phone on a shelf to video record under women's skirts at the store.
He remains jailed under a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
