COLUMBIANA -- Work on the Crestview PK-12 campus is continuing, with the finishing touches being put on the academic wings and classes, District Superintendent Daniel Hill said.
Hill provided an update to the board of education during the October meeting.
He said that at the time of the meeting the gym floor had been installed at the elementary school side, and the mezzanine and wood floor was in the process of being installed.
The Spine Hallways flooring was also 95 percent complete at that time.
He also said in his report to the board that the Music Suite has been painted and the district was waiting on flooring.
Other work being done included the installation of elevators and the completion of sidewalks and waterlines to the new campus.
He said that the offices are also completed with the exception of trim packages.
In other matters, he also told the board that staff have been hard at work with their respective action plans to increase student achievement and close gaps within the state Report Card areas.
The district earned a 4 star rating in Achievement, 2 in Progress, 3 in Gap Closing, 5 in Graduation, 2 in Early Literacy and 4 in College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness.
The district earned an overall 4-star rating on the annual Report Card through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
"We have demonstrated growth from the report card on last year's rating," Hill said, noting that the district was 3.5 on its previous rating and now is at "Exceeds State Standards" with the 4-star overall rating. "Our goals are always to improve and find a way to increase student growth. The teams have been discussing student needs and implementing action plans for the year. I look forward to continued high ratings and we are working towards a 5.0 score," he said.
High School Principal Caleb Crowl was happy to report that the high school individually earned a 4.5-star rating on the Report Card.
He was also pleased to report that when averaged together, students at the high school outperformed the state average on each of the End of Course tests.
