LISBON -- The Columbiana County Educational Service Center (ESC) has signed a five-year lease with the West Branch Local School District.
ESC Superintendent Marie Williams said the ESC signed a lease with the West Branch Board of Education for seven classrooms at Knox Elementary School, located at 2900 Knox School Road in Alliance.
"The space is designated for educating public school-aged students and related before-and after-school programming. The ESC may also use shared areas, including entrances, restrooms and parking, subject to availability and district rules," she said.
The lease runs from Aug. 1, 2026, through July 31, 2031, and automatically renews in one-year periods unless terminated.
"The parties agreed to review it after six months, in February 2027. Either party may end the agreement with six months' written notice; the district may also terminate it if the space is needed for school purposes," Williams said.
She also said that the district is responsible for specified building services and repairs, including utilities, building systems and general property maintenance.
The ESC is responsible for its staff, licensing and operation of the program, required background checks, insurance, and damage or repairs resulting from its or its visitors' conduct, she said.
Changes to the space require the district's prior written approval.
