Wellsville Fire Department kicks off Fire Prevention Week with Public Safety Saturday event

WELLSVILLE -- The crew at the Wellsville Fire Department invites the public to join them as they kick off Fire Prevention Day at the Public Safety Saturday event.

The event, which takes place Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wellsville Fire Department, 1200 Main St., is an opportunity for residents to learn about fire safety and prevention and get to know their local firefighters and first responders such as EMTs and police officers.

Fire Chief Barry Podwel said the event has a focus on safety, education and community.

Highlights at the event will include fire trucks and equipment displays, the opportunity to meet the firefighters, local law enforcement and local health care providers, live demonstrations, safety education for all ages, activities for kids and more.

The event provides a reminder to residents on checking their smoke alarms, tips on planning an escape and practicing fire drills.

The Public Safety Saturday event will be a fun family event with everyone invited to attend, learn and help keep Wellsville safe.
