LISBON -- The jury trial for a man accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend after allegedly running her over last year in East Liverpool is now delayed until 9 a.m. March 9.
Cameron Martin, 20, Minerva Street, East Liverpool, appeared for a status and motion hearing in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court before Judge Megan Bickerton Monday morning. He was accompanied by his new appointed defense team of James Wise and Joe King.
Wise asked for the Oct. 27 trial date to be continued, saying they needed more time after recently being appointed, plus seeking an expert. Bickerton granted the motion, setting the new trial date, along with a final status hearing at 9:40 a.m. March 1 and an interim status hearing at 10 a.m. Jan. 11.
The state was represented by county Assistant Prosecutors Jennifer Bonish and Steve Yacovone.
Bickerton granted a defense request for the appropriation of funds for the defense to retain a car accident reconstruction expert, with Bonish indicating no objection from the state.
According to the motion, the expert is being sought to look at data related to line-of-sight analysis through the mirrors and street lines of sight from the driver's position, looking at the driver's actions or inaction and visibility factors.
Martin's previous hired legal counsel withdrew, indicating a lack of cooperation by the defendant in preparing for the case. He was then found indigent, with Wise and King appointed as his public defenders.
The victim, Stephanie Householder, 21, died July 20, 2025, along with her unborn child, from injuries suffered in a pedestrian/motor vehicle crash on July 19, 2025 at the East Liverpool wharf with Martin the driver of the vehicle.
He remains out of jail after posting a $100,000 cash or surety bond in the spring.
Charges against Martin include two counts of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, and two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, a third-degree felony, for allegedly causing Householder's death and the alleged unlawful termination of her pregnancy.
During the hearing, members of Householder's family were in attendance wearing shirts that said Justice for Stephanie. Martin was also accompanied by a family member.
