EAST LIVERPOOL -- Elevating Mental Health & Wellness, 16705 St. Clair Ave., Ste. 303, East Liverpool, will open on Friday with a ribbon cutting and grand opening hosted by the River Valley Chamber Commerce at 4 p.m.
Owner Patricia Ryenolds invites the public to attend the event which will include a meet and greet to get to know her and ask any questions they may have.
Reynolds, a graduate of Malone University with a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling, has been involved in mental health practice since 2021 and has recently decided to start her own practice Elevating Mental Health & Wellness with a goal to help others rise above everyday life stress. She wants to help her clients realize that even though they may not be doing as much as they would like to be doing, they are still putting in the effort to do better and make themselves better.
She has worked at Aspire and Insight Social Health Services.
She will be the sole service provider for her practice which offers counseling services for children through adults, children with ADHD and/or anxiety, adults who are facing pressures with work/life balance, general anxiety, stress protection techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, emotional regulation, cognitive regulation, Tele-health services and assists her clients in the schools if needed.
Reynolds, an East Liverpool native herself, chose to open her business in East Liverpool because of her deep roots in the community. She serves as a middle school girls basketball and track coach.
"For me, starting my practice in East Liverpool was more about people being comfortable. It's really hard to go into a space and be vulnerable and open up and discuss all of your issues all at once and build a relationship with somebody," Reynolds said. "It's a little easier for people who do come in knowing that I understand the area they live in, that I am from this area and it's easier for them to kind of open up and feel like there is any judgement if I were from out of town or something like that."
She also noted that it's easier for clients when they know that she grew up in the same area as them and comes from the same background.
Reynolds has an established base of clients but is welcoming additional clients/referrals.
"I want to grow but I don't want to grow so quick that I lose sight of why I started my practice I want to grow as a business owner as well as helping my clients grow and if I get to the point where I don't have any openings maybe I'll consider having another person come on board," Reynolds said. "But right now my main focus is growing my clients that are already a part of my practice and incoming clients to their most potential, helping them manage everyday life and stress. "
Reynold's business hours will fluctuate during basketball season due to coaching. They will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. unless a client needs her later. Her hours after basketball season will be Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
