COLUMBIANA -- The new maintenance supervisor hired for the Crestview Local School District will be working with some new crew as well.
Evan Schneider, who was hired in July to replace longtime maintenance supervisor Jay Radman upon his retirement, presented some updates to the board of education in September.
Schneider said in his report that Missy Fieldhouse was hired to cover the elementary school second floor, second shift, and that he anticipates another maintenance person will be leaving soon, resulting in the opening of the high school second shift position.
He said the maintenance person already said they would be leaving but had not given a specific end date at that time.
He also said that eight to 10 resumes have already been submitted and that interviews would be forthcoming.
In non-personnel matters he said that there were various HVAC situations across campus.
"Temperature has obviously been a challenge with the heat and humidity but we have been able to get as much as we possibly can in house accomplished," he said.
He went on to say that a schedule has been set and he is making sure to be in the building during days and coming back during evenings and events at times to get a feel for how things have been operated and how they can be improved, as well as connecting and communicating with staff.
He also told the board that overtime has been increased due to a shortage of staff at this time due to positions opened, vacations, and illnesses.
As for the facility scheduling and maintenance portal also known as FMX, he said it is going well, although a lot of improvement is still to come, specifically with regard to work lists and inventory.
