Dine In or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem

The Dine In or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building, sponsored by Friends of the Banquet. The menu will include fried chicken, diced potatoes with onions and peppers, coleslaw, fresh vegetables and fruit, pudding. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. Lisbon Historical Society dinner meeting

The Lisbon Historical Society's Thursday, Oct. 15, dinner meeting program on the life and times of President William McKinley is open to the public. Paul Rohrbaugh, who has written two books on McKinley will present the program that begins at 7:30 p.m. in the basement of the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, 111 E. Chestnut St., Lisbon. His books will be available after the presentation. Donations from public attendees will be accepted.

Christina House Domestic Violence Shelter Awareness Walk

The Christina House Domestic Violence Shelter, a program of Catholic Charities Regional Agency, will be holding an event Thursday, Oct. 15, at 5 p.m. at their office, 115 E. Washington St., Lisbon. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and yearly the Christina House holds an event to bring awareness within the community about Domestic Violence. Magistrate Tammie Riley Jones will be the guest speaker and after a short program, an Awareness Walk will take place. Call 330-420-0036 for information.

Ghost Walk adds chili cook-off to Oct. 16 event

The Upper Ohio Valley Museum and Learning Center at the Lou Holtz Hall of Fame ia adding a chili cook-off to the ghost walk event Oct. 16. The Ghost Walk will take participants around town to six different stops in East Liverpool where they can hear fascinating and historic stories from costumed interpreters about people, places and events that helped shape the community.

As part of the ticket price, attendees can warm up and sample chili made by cooks and businesses from around the city. Participants will have the opportunity to sample the different chili recipes and help select the winner. To enter a chili recipe, contact the Hall of Fame at 330-386-5443.

Ghost Walk and chili cook-off tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Children under 12 are free with an adult ticket holder. Participants are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance, as space may be limited.

Historical Society's Trivia Night will be held Oct. 20 at Pancho's

There's still time to get a team signed up to test its knowledge in the Alliance Historical Society's Trivia Night.

The semiannual event will once again be held at Don Pancho's Tex-Mex Cafe on West State Street on Tuesday, Oct. 20, beginning at 6 p.m. To register go to alliancehistory.org/trivia-night.

As in the past, teams of four members each should register with a name, and the entry fee is just $120 per team which includes a taco bar (chicken, beef or vegetarian), soft drinks, chips & salsa, and a gratuity. A cash bar will be available.

The Alliance Historical Society has hosted a Trivia Night every October and March since October 2022 with four-person teams competing across multiple rounds of questions covering general knowledge, sports, entertainment, and local history.

During the Fall 2020 edition, there will be six rounds of 10 questions each.

Prizes will be given to the winning team. The evening also features basket raffles and 50-50 drawings, with all proceeds benefiting local history preservation.

Trivia Night and sponsorships help the Alliance Historical Society continue its work to preserve the history of Alliance and its maintenance of the Mabel Hartzell Historical Home and Alliance History Mini Museum.

Sponsors' names will be mentioned on the Historical Society's website and publicity for the event and sponsor's logo will be placed on the tables at the event. Gold sponsorships are $500, Silver sponsorships are $250, Table sponsorships $100, and $50 Question sponsors will have their name mentioned throughout the sponsored question round.

Tops 1341

Tops 1341 met at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church on Monday, Oct. 5, with Mary Gailey, facilitator, presiding. Marlene Reynolds was the best loser and Gailey and Lydia Kraft were the runners up. They chose ice cream and cake as the junk foods for the next week.

The drawing winners were: 50/50, Dena White; food chart, Dorothy Garn; weight loss, Kraft; and junk food, Reynolds.

Garn was 8 weeks in attendance. Gaily lost three weeks in a row. Gailey and Kraft were three times in the best losers book. Cathy Wollam now holds the travel box.

The monthly winners were: Best losers, Patty Gruszecki; runner up, Reynolds; exercise winner, Gailey; and food charts, Reynolds.

The secretary's report was approved as written. Wollam, treasurer, gave the monthly report and it was filed for audit.

The meeting opened with pledges and closed with prayer concerns and The Lord's Prayer.

WLC Club

The WLC Club had a tea party that was organized by Betty Pease and Donna Lee. There were three tables and they were all decorated differently. Table number three won and the members in that team were Loralie Sheppard, Barb Q, Donna Lee, Mary Jarvis and Barb Tranter. They will each receive a prize. There was a prize for the best decorated wooden tea pot and that was won by Nancy Hart. The next contest was for the prettiest hat won by Barb Q and the most original was won by Donna Lee.

All members enjoyed their tea and snacks.

Jarvis closed the meeting wishing all a good week.

Choose To Lose Group

Choose To Lose Group met at Boyce Church Sept. 29 with leader Penny Perorazio presiding. The meeting opened up with the pledge of allegiance followed by the CTLG roll call.

Pam Fouse gave the secretary's report and Cassie Stephens gave the treasurer's report. Both were approved as read.

Margo Arnold and Fouse were tied for the biggest loser.

Carolyn Hager had three weeks weight loss. Monthly Biggest Loser are Hager and Arnold.

The no no's are pizza and chips.

Arnold won the food journals, Perorazio won the dimes, and Hager won the Share The Blessing.

Arnold, Hager, Perorazio, Jean Ferrebee, JoAnn Beresford, Stephens and Fouse lost weight and got to Put A Turtle In The Tank.

Winners of the No Fibbing Contest are Arnold and Perorazio.

Perorazio closed the meeting with prayer requests followed by the Lord's prayer.
