United Local receives donation to cover costs of performing in Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade

HANOVERTON -- The United Local School District has received $110,000 in donations to help cover the cost of the band's performance at Pearl Harbor in December.

It was first announced in May of this year that the marching band would be participating in the 85th Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade on Dec. 7.

At that time funds were donated by local veterans organizations in support of the trip that will honor the lives of those lost in the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.

Band Director Nome Baker told news partner WKBN First News in May that the band will get to see the U.S.S. Arizona and the Mighty Moe, as well as the entire area of Pearl Harbor and the north shore.

During the September United Local Board of Education meeting the board accepted a $100,000 donation for the trip from a person wishing to remain anonymous.

Another $10,000 donation was accepted from the Sebo Foundation.
