ALLIANCE - Rodman Public Library has announced several activities for October.
Discover Bats Ohio
Fly into the fascinating world of Ohio's bats at Rodman Public Library on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. Children and their families will discover how these animals help the environment through fun, engaging activities and fascinating facts. This program is presented by Discover Bats Ohio and geared toward children of all ages. Registration is required to attend at rodmanlibrary.com.
Costume Closet
Beginning at 10 a.m. Oct. 10, patrons of all ages can visit the Main Library and choose a "pre-loved look" on a first-come, first-served basis until the supply runs out. A wide selection of used costumes will be available in many sizes. One costume may be taken per person and each person must be in attendance to claim a costume.
Puzzle Swap
During operating hours between Sunday, Oct. 11 and Saturday, Oct. 17, patrons of all ages can bring a jigsaw puzzle to the Branch Library and exchange it for another puzzle from a large assortment available on tables in the lobby outside the Branch entrance. Puzzles being brought in to swap should be in good condition and stored in a proper container with a picture of the finished puzzle on the front. Preferably, the puzzles should contain all of its pieces. However, if a puzzle is missing a piece or two, mark the box as such. Patrons may bring in as many puzzles to swap as they would like. For instance, bring in 10 puzzles and take 10 like new puzzles home to enjoy. For information about the Puzzle Swap, call the Branch Library at 330-821-1313.
Pizza and Pages
Children, ages 8 to 12, are invited to Pizza and Pages, a book discovery program at Rodman Public Library in 2026, on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. During the 45-minute program, a librarian will read excerpts from a batch of new books guaranteed to excite the imagination of children and take them on unforgettable adventures while they enjoy a slice of pizza and other activities. Pizza and Pages is scheduled on the third Tuesday of each odd numbered month with the next program being Dec. 15. The program is free, thanks to support from Friends of Rodman Library. Haunted Gingerbread House
Teens, ages 12-18, can work individually or in pairs to create a haunted gingerbread house during Rodman Public Library's contest between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22 inside Rodman Auditorium. Competitors will use edible supplies provided by the library, thanks to the generous support from Friends of Rodman Library. Judges will decide which haunted gingerbread house is the best and winner(s) will receive a prize. The competition is free to enter, but registration is required at rodmanlibrary.com.
