COLUMBIANA -- The city is looking for a new member to serve on the Board of Zoning Appeals.
City Manager Lance Willard said the vacant seat is the result of the resignation of Jack Sutherin, whose term does not expire until the end of 2027.
The city is taking letters of interest through Sept. 10.
Willard took time during the most recent City Council meeting to praise the community for their involvement with the city.
He listed off several committees and boards that meet in one month alone.
"The volunteerism that occurs in this community is amazing ... We do appreciate our residents and their passion for helping their community," he said.
Willard also announced during the meeting two new events planned for later this month.
A Wing Fest hosted by the non-profit Alta Care Group will take place Sept. 26 at the Garden of Eatin' downtown.
The organization targeted the city for the new event saying the location would attract a lot of people.
"We are looking forward to seeing how that affects our downtown during that day," Willard said.
The other event is the Inaugural Columbiana Swine Festival BBQ Contest will be held at The Vineyards at Pine Lake on Sept. 27.
